Season 2 Episode 2.Today's topic: BAD HABITS OF INEFFECTIVE TEACHERSThank you for tuning into the Center Pod Podcast ShowWe think you will enjoy it, so let's dig inContent:Bad habits:Focusing on being liked. Everyone wants to be liked, but if we keep thinking about how we want our students to like us, this is absolutely going to affect our teaching. And not in a good way. Failure to plan: We all have days that we realize last minute that we forgot to make copies of that worksheet we really need, but if we find ourselves habitually starting class not sure what we're doing today, we are in trouble. Yes, we might make it through the class, but we're certainly not going to be as effective as we could be if we'd prepared adequately. Not setting a standard or expectations: Procedures: Have a well-managed classroom with very well defined classroom rules and procedures that are clearly communicated to students.Targets: Show and communicate the learning targets of the day and how they connect to an essential higher order learning goal.Being inconsistentThinking you've figured it all out: Whenever we start to think that we've got it down, that we don't need to keep learning and growing, we start stagnating. And we're less effective than we could be if we kept looking for new ideas and better ways to teach.Teaching without passion: Having a Lack of Empathy: People are fighting silent battles everydayBeing Boring… Doing things the same old waySuffering In Silence…  Not asking for help from your colleaguesSummary:  Because of the significant impact teachers have on their students' academic achievement, life and career, they are always longing for effective teaching practices. But, despite their intent to improve and grow, there are some bad teaching habits they make that can negatively affect their teaching.Call to Action: Self CareOutro:Connect with us:Twitter: https://twitter.com/center_pod Website: https://centerpodpodcast.buzzsprout.com Youtube channel: Center•Pod PodcastGive us some of your thoughts on any of our podcasts. We linked an article below to assist our listeners on how to recognize this form of disorder. According to the National Institutes of Health, nearly 1 in 3 of all adolescents ages 13 to 18 will experience an anxiety disorder. These numbers have been rising steadily; between 2007 and 2012, anxiety disorders in children and teens went up to 20%These stats combined with the rate of hospital admissions for suicidal teenagers also doubling over the past decade leaves us with many concerning questions.Lastly, the pandemic did not make any of these issues better.Article 1 To assist educators, administrators and school staff.Article 2 Ways to help
