A husband and wife share their experiences playing Age of Sigmar.
We are starting to pick our gaming back up and I'm starting to get pretty excited about the new GHB. You might even say, ‘I'm so excited about it'.
The doubles tournament is in the bag and roma and I debrief it.
Our mojo (who are we kidding, it's just me, Roma has never lost hers) is back. It's funny how making this podcast really fires me up. I hope it lights a fire in some folks out there as well.
On this episode we asked Sigmar Scottie to join us and tell us a bit about the Gladius of Champions and why he chose to organize the league that is coming to its epic finale in just a few more days.
Where did the time go? Roma and I got buried by our mundane lives for far too long but we got back on the horse and got an episode in the bag.
We've not been able to get a podcast out since the Vegas tapes as we both fell crazy ill and then got super busy. Nonetheless, the Dudes didn't forget about their loyal listeners, so we are back with a doozy talking about our adventures at Cake or Death and our new favourite AoS podcast.
You know what they say about good intentions. Our plans to do three podcasts in three days were derailed by a nasty bug that swept through our family for the last week. This podcast is a doozie cause not only do we have to cover day three of LVO, but also the Mid Winter Mayhem tournament we attended yesterday. Let's not waste any more time and get started shall we?
Day 2 was 2/3 the games of day 1, and 3/2 the fun. Some pretty special things happened for us day 2, so let's get right to it.
Well, we made it back from LVO and man, it took a lot out of us. I've not been this exhausted in a long time. We are going to cover Vegas in three episodes, cause there is just too much to talk about in a single episode. We are going to try and get all three episodes out one a day. Please, enjoy.
‘‘Twas the night before Vegas and all of the nerds had begun their long journey, longer even than birds. With widgets and dice all packed in my bag, I was about to sleep and dream of the swag. When up in the room I heard such a crash, it was roma busy packing and counting the cash. That's all I got. I'm super bagged and needed to to get to bed cause we have a super early flight tomorrow and we wanted to get out an episode before we left. Viva Lasa Vegas!!!!
So we did the unthinkable and we played each other and it ended pretty much the way you would expect. So much for getting excited about Vegas.
Team tournaments are fun. We talk about the mini team tournament we had on New Year's Day and how much fun that was and how we are now full LVO mode.
It's feels like ages since we recorded, but today we shook off the turkey coma and got the mikes out to talk about just how insane the next three weeks are going to be.
Well, it took a while to get here, and after countless imaginary games, the winner of the Everwinternights League has been determined. This is a bonus episode of some people who have been celebrating for a couple hours hanging out talking AoS. We are all deep in the festive cheer and there's a few technical issues with live, spontaneous recordings, but it was fun.
Mike and Roma square off and talk about the upcoming belt match and all the shenanigans that have been occurring leading up to it.
You can probably guess from the title that Roma won her game, and is now set for the battle that has been coming for some time. There were a flurry of games in the past 24 hours so we briefly cover those and what the final game of the league could look like. Here's a hint, it gonna be ugly.
It's been super busy lately, so we are trying to get caught up with the missed episode. We talk about Romas practice and prep versus her imaginary opponent and indecision over what to take to LVO.
It's Monday night! Tonight we continue the turning point and cover the games Roma squeezed in this weekend as well as our excitement over the next league games. We touch on AoS worlds and the recent previews shown off at the event.
We are trying out a new format, adding something called the turning point. Rather than a super granular break down of all the games we play, we focus on ‘the turning point'. It shortens the game recap and adds time for us to talk about other things. And oh yeah, this is what the new jerseys look like. What do you think?
I smashed through 3 games this weekend, including my league and had some interesting results. I'm also so excited ($66) about the upcoming Slaves to Darkness battle tome
Oh man. What started off as a recap of recent games and early thoughts on Skaven turned into a throw down that is made the Tyson/ Paul fight look like slap fest. Rest assured dear listeners, despite the spice in the recording, we were immediately chatting normally after the episode. Sometimes we just get caught up in our respective passion for the game.
A day late, but we made it. We talk mostly about round two in our league. The game I played and the one aroma has yet to play.
Roma and I are both sick AF, but we can't let our dear listeners down, so we talked a bit about round two of the league, how my rats didn't quite live up to Damen math, and how I need to lock up my tufts.
We cover most of the battles for the first round of the Everwinter Nights League, as well as talk about what it's like for Roma to play without the crutch kitties.
The Northern Wastes League has a begun and Roma can hardly wait to get her first game in. I've still got models to build. We are in two very different places. And there is spice.
I thought it was going to be a simple chat about recent games, but nooooooo, Roma was feeling spicy.
5 Alarm GT is in the books and what a time it was. Don't get me wrong, I love LVO, but there is a lot to be said for smaller events where you get to at least say hi and smile to every person you meet. Can't thank Dayton and Nicole enough for hosting the horde basically all weekend. I'd have been sick of nerds long before day one was done, let alone after 3.
So the update dropped today and Roma and I thought we should talk about it. I also felt I therapeutically needed to shitpost on Cities Executioners for a bit to cope with the asskicking I received at their hands today. At least I didn't rage quit and chat groups.
We are pumped for the 5 Alarm GT in just two days, but I think the best part of outr chat tonight is discussing the Roma's passionate disregard for all things canon, and how wonderful that is.
With a cool crossover, the dudes chat with Dayton from Party at the Allpoints about what it takes to play at the AoS team worlds, as well as a bit about the upcoming 5 Alarm.
Disclaimer: the incidental recording at the beginning of this podcast should in now way be construed as trying to swaggerjack John and Paul. The music was inadvertently playing in the background, have no idea how it made it in. With my attempts to avoid litigation out of the way, it was a good catch up episode cause Roma and I have been working hard getting in the reps for 5 Alarm. Romas working on her first display board and is she ever excited….
Today we interview Jesse who won the recent Northern Wastes GT. We chat a bit about his list, his games, and what is next for the reigning champ.
A recap of the Northern Wastes GT from the perspective of Roma and I, and the rematch we never thought we'd have to play.
With Northern Wastes over, it's time to publish this gem we recorded the night before the tournament when we were all fresh, anything was possible, and none one knew how brutal the third game was going to be. On this episode we feature interviews with some of the best AoS players out there , who happen to be even better human beings. We love you Warped Dice.
Northern Wastes GT is nearly upon us and with the lists leased today, the Dudes offer a no holds barred, no punches pulled assessment of list and team names. Just what everyone was waiting for.
Well, we are back from our longer than planned absence. We hit Warhammer World and chatted with some legends of the hobby while we were away, and now we need to get our head in the game for the tournaments this fall.
We didn't have a ton of time to record tonight, so it's mostly Roma trash talking me. Good times. Also rolled out a new intro. Whadda ya think?
Roma finally has 3rd edition behind her and we can both start having fun in 4th with all the cool stuff that arrived from Taps Games today. And the ‘name the gryphcharger' contest winner is finally announced.
Holy cow! My first of 4th is in the bag and what an adventure it was. Manifestation stonks are up, but not for the reason you may think. Roma was busy finishing her final league game so my opponent joined me to talk about what our first impressions were. Hint; We loved it.
Well, the verdict is out, and the crutch kitties….. What? You didn't think I was gonna tell you the answer in the show notes did you? Gotta listen to the show and feed the algorithm yo. Anyways, we talk Stormcast and Roma is, to no one's surprise, so excited.
Ok, this is a special one. In this episode we chat with none other than AoS Coach himself. We get some thoughts on what it takes to meet your AoS goals, answer some fan questions, and generally get to hang with the coolest darn dude you are ever gonna meet from the land down under. Cheers Coach!
We've chatted with a couple other folks lately, but Roma and I were itching to get some of our mojo back and chat between ourselves. We also have a cool announcement about the next guest we are going to have join the Dudes.
Today we stick with interviewing folks we have met in our journey along the way, and today we chat with Gary from Dark Fantastic Mills. I won't spoil the discussion for you, but we have a great chat and feel a little inspired to get my printer working again so I can print some more of his fantastic scenery. If you want to join any of his kickstarters or pick up some of his great terrain, check out https://darkfantasticmills.com/. You won't be disappointed.
Well, this was fun. It is the first of what we hope will be a series of conversations we have with people from around the world we meet on our travels. Today with chat with an absolute Prince of a human being, Sancho. We met at LVO this year, and meeting him is the reason why I go to events. He an amazing dude, and an absolute gift to the hobby. Plus his version of our origin story is way better than mine. Joey, we forgot to give you a shout out on the podcast, so this will have to do for now.
100 episodes! Can you believe it? We invited the artist behind the new logo to talk a bit about what went into the evolution of the Dudes logo, and yes, we announce another contest.
Jesse from the Cooks of Sigmar joins us tonight on our 99th episode. We talk about what the Cooks are all about, a bit about the Cooks event coming up, and random stuff. I can't figure out the affiliate link thing, but go check out Party at the All Points affiliate link and buy your LVO tickets through them.
Maybe I was just a little reckless with my enthusiasm for the Slaves to Darkness preview, but I was so excited I had to talk about it with Roma.
We are getting close now. Less than 30 days to the new edition and the dudes are still getting in games and looking forward to upcoming episodes. With a big week of reveals ahead we are thinking of blitzing a bunch of episodes to talk about the reveals this week. Shall see how it goes.
Small editing glitch, so I had to take down the old one and redo. Anyways, we kind of touch on a bunch of stuff tonight, including a new contest. Listen to us get hyped for 4th now that we finally have a date.
We got the winner! Thanks to everyone who signed up last month. Everyone's a winner in our books, so everyone is gonna get some dice. We talk about some recent games, what we enjoyed most about third, and some things we are looking forward to in 4th oh, come sign our yearbook!
Roma was busy today, and so Sigmar Scotty pitched in to help out. Super fan Scott talks about what keeps him coming back for each episode, and what the Dudes of Sigmar means to him. Also, the draw for the dice will be the next episode, so stay tuned.
