We use the word good to describe something or an event. By this we affirm that it is satisfying, pleasurable or enjoyable. A cold milkshake is this when hot and thirsty. Keep this in mind as you consider the creator. Listen and be encouraged. Copyright, Dave Andrus 2026
I nominate Pete Nardie for consideration to be interviewed in a Vic 4 Vets segment on NewsTalk STL. I’ve known Pete since 1971. Pete is not only a good friend but he represents everything good in terms of American citizenship, military combat service and a 32 year career as a teacher. Pete voluntarily served in the US Marine Corps. He completed a 13 month combat tour in the Vietnam War. Pete served in the highly innovative Combined Action Program. The program placed a Marine Platoon and a Navy Corpsman to live on their own in a Vietnamese rural village. That program called for an incredible individual commitment to serve in a concept not well known to the American public. During the day they provided much needed assistance to the local residents and by night performed ambush patrols or defensive positions keeping the residents safe. Here’s a weblink from Southeast Missouri State known University (SEMO) that presents Pete’s answers to questions about his undergraduate experience and how SEMO effected his life. https://semo.edu/people-directory/donor-spotlights/pete-nardie One of my favorite stories about Pete at SEMO was on close to his first day in school -he had already grown his hair and beard quite long after he was honorably discharged from the Marines. A school cafeteria employee took note of Pete’s appearance and asked for his student ID. She kept Pete’s ID and said he’d only get it back by meeting with the University President. Pete had that meeting and ended it with a great quote. Pete’s ensuing college career later enabled him to be elected as SEMO Student Government President. On the surface, Nancy Kissel had the life people dreamed about. A luxury apartment in a posh Hong Kong neighbourhood. A high-flying husband who works in banking. Three beautiful kids. A postcard existence, by any measure. So why, on the night of November 2nd, did she hand her husband a strawberry milkshake laced with enough sedatives to drop a man twice his size? And why, hours later, was Robert Kissel found dead and wrapped in a carpet and locked in a storage room? The answer isn't simple. It never is. Because behind every perfect life, there are things that don't make it into the postcard. Affairs. Secrets. Years of something quietly rotting underneath, until it surfaces in the most heinous way imaginable. Part 1 - We trace the roots of Robert and Nancy's marriage. Detailing how they first met, and where the tensions started to build up before culminating in Robert's brutal murder. Part 2 - We follow the sensationalized trial of Nancy Kissel and the media furor that surrounded it. Will justice be served? Or will Nancy get away with it all? Tyler Kelbert and Dayna Gamba: Depot North America and What a Real Brand Relationship Looks LikeSome brands want your following. This one wants you.Recorded live at ABS Chicago with co-host Geno Chapman, Corey sits down with barbers Tyler Kelbert and Dayna Gamba, two of the newest additions to the Depot North America team. The conversation covers what drew them to the brand, what the product has been like behind the chair, and why Depot's culture feels different from anything else in the barber space. Tyler tells the story of doing 365 consecutive days of content twice. Dayna talks about using her chair to quietly change lives. Two barbers. Two ways of showing up. Both doing it right. What Is DepotDepot is an established European men's grooming brand covering scalp health, hair, skin, body, and scent. The US launch is building deliberately. Products are organized by numbers: pre-wash in the 100s, washing in the 200s, styling in the 300s. Tyler's go-to is the 304, a strong-hold product that holds all day. Dayna's clients are already asking to cocktail products and wanting more. Distribution is still being worked out but the demand is there. The Culture Is the ProductDepot does not require influencer status. No follower count minimum. They want authentic artists who are good at what they do. Corey and Geno, who spent time with the Depot and Milkshake teams in Ibiza, came away with the same read: family, not a hair brand. Tyler put it plainly... if you're a good barber and you're not a dickhead, there's probably a home for you here. What Dayna Brought to the RoomTyler called out Dayna's positivity as one of his biggest takeaways. She'd flip a negative into something constructive without missing a beat. Contagious. Twenty-three years in the industry, time with Orbe and Davines, and a genuine belief that Depot fills gaps the barber space has been missing. She also runs a charity raffle out of her salon. The prize is free haircuts for a full year. Tickets run $20 to $50 and every dollar goes to a family in need. Quiet generosity. No big following required.Tyler's 365 Days of Content... TwiceFirst run was great for his career and rough on everything else. The second time he came in with a plan, used AI for content ideas, built variety across tutorials, education, humor, and unboxings, and thought about it from the consumer side first. He also brought a carry-on full of outfit changes to the salon every day. His coworkers thought he was out of his mind. Eventually he figured out nobody's watching that closely. It was always about the content.Depot is actively building its US team. Real artists. No ego. Throw your hat in.
Send us Fan MailThe smell of barbecue, a half-finished milkshake, and a crowd of familiar faces, that's how we kick things off at Mayfest 2026. We're recording on location in Rector and letting the event guide the conversation, from what makes festivals worth leaving the house for to the one thing we'd actually spend our money on when every booth is tempting. If you love small town festivals, local food trucks, and community events that feel personal, you'll feel right at home with us here. We also bring on Jacob Gibson, a seventh grader repping 4-H, to explain what 4-H really does: fundraising, building the club, traveling, and getting into activities and competitions. He also talks band life and playing saxophone, which turns into a bigger conversation about how youth programs, school activities, and local support give kids a place to grow confidence and skills in public. Then we take a hard turn into pure nostalgia and real-life humor: fidget spinners, yo-yos that “sleep,” forgotten gadgets, and the parenting moves nobody admits out loud. We even debate controllers, PS5 rechargeable convenience versus Xbox battery life, and why both can drive you crazy depending on your habits. If you've ever wondered what a town is like when it “does it big,” Joey's take on community pride ties it all together. In this episode we answer emails from Kyle, Tim, and Tim. We discuss dealing with a recalcitrant parent who won't talk about the straw in their milkshake, outline flexible retirement withdrawal planning with asset swaps, and explain how to escape TSP limitations. And THEN we our go through our weekly and monthly portfolio reviews of the eight sample portfolios you can find at Portfolios | Risk Parity Radio.Additional Links:Fairfax CASA Donation Page: Donate - Fairfax CASAFinancial Personality Traits Research Presentation: Big Five Unified Financial Profiles Presentation.pdf - Google DriveTax Book: Amazon.com: Tax Planning To and Through Early Retirement: 9798999841599: Garrett, Cody, Mullaney, Sean: BooksAdmiral Ackbar's Tax Book Summary: Admiral Ackbar's Guide to Tax Planning in Retirement Slides.pdf - Google DriveKitces Article: Tax-Efficient Retirement Portfolio Spending StrategiesAsset Swap Video from Risk Parity Chronicles: How to Do an Asset SwapOptimus Bill on Bigger Pockets Money: The Decumulation Strategy After Hitting Financial Independence | Bill YountOptimus Bill on the Morningstar Long View Podcast: The Long View: Bill Yount: How Late Starters Can Find Financial IndependenceBreathless AI-Bot Summary:Someone you love is doing “fine” on paper, yet you can't shake the feeling they're getting quietly drained by bad financial products or high advisory fees. That tension is where we start: the hard part often isn't investment math, it's the relationship dynamics that make a parent shut down the moment money comes up.We read an email from a listener trying to help his retired mom who prefers to delegate and doesn't want to learn finance. We talk through why children often can't be “a prophet in their own land,” how to lower the temperature, and why it can be smarter to focus on replacing a poor-fit advisor instead of trying to force a DIY investing conversion. If your goal is preserving peace while improving outcomes, this is a realistic playbook.Next we get into retirement withdrawal strategy and tax planning. The usual media advice about which account to tap first falls apart once you factor in lifetime tax minimization, Roth conversion windows, Social Security timing, ACA subsidy cliffs, and IRMAA. We also explain the idea of an asset swap so you can reduce an inflated holding (like gold in a Roth IRA) while keeping your overall asset allocation and diversification intact. Finally, we answer a newly retired federal employee wrestling with Thrift Savings Plan limits, the case for a TSP rollover to an IRA, how to think about 72T SEPP planning account-by-account, and how to rebalance when not every asset is available in every account. We close with our weekly risk parity style portfolio review and the May distribution rundown across the sample portfolios.Subscribe, share the show with a DIY investor friend, and leave a review on your podcast app so more people can find it. Iran is drinking Trump's milkshake. But unlike the famous movie scene, Iran doesn't have to steal the oil; they simply just have to stop oil from being delivered to the United States. And that's exactly what they did by closing the Strait of Hormuz. Trump may want to turn it into the "Strait of America,” but imperialism and a forever foreign war won't solve the energy crisis he willingly created. ***Thanks for listening to Overnight Opinions, a recurring news show on topics the mainstream media isn't telling you.

From “Mirotic” to “Dreams Come True,” from “Hot Summer” to “Next Level,” SM Entertainment has built a reputation for reworking songs from outside Korea and turning them into K-pop staples. But where's the line between a cover, a sample, a demo… and plagiarism? In this episode, Chris and Chantel break down the legal and creative differences between covers, master vs. publishing rights, sampling, interpolation, and demo recordings - and why those distinctions matter more than most fans realize. We dive into SM's history of licensed remakes, Western songwriting collaborations, and the company's unique ability to transform existing material into something distinctly “SM.” Are these just copied songs… or carefully negotiated reinventions?References:Dolly Parton - "I Will Always Love You" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0bEZH6ZqG4Whitney Houston - "I Will Always Love You" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3JWTaaS7LdUBig Mama Thornton - "Hound Dog" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoHDrzw-RPgElvis Presley - "Hound Dog" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNYWl13IWhYBTS - "As I Told You" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inNYQUC6dFsBLACKPINK - "So Hot" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skIfzl96Gc0TWICE - "End of Time" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CxQKaEGrQ384Minute - "Milkshake" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrGQBMkXa30MEOVV - “Abracadabra” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9jlLUl8hKGY&pp=ygURbWVvdnYgYWJyYWNhZGFicmE%3D Dara - “Mr. Rover” MV https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BcWlLGDvmEE&pp=ygUOZGFyYSBtci4gcm92ZXI%3D KAI - “Rover” MV https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlTIextYnyQ&pp=ygUOZGFyYSBtci4gcm92ZXI%3D Medium.com "The Art of Clearing a Sample" article https://medium.com/the-courtroom/the-art-of-clearing-a-sample-deciding-if-its-worth-it-and-how-to-actually-do-e26fa56ad090Busta Rhymes - "Pass The Courvoisier Part II" feat. He unpacks the playbook for rebuilding an iconic brand, why it worked for Barbie, and why creator capital is the new north star. Plus, he reveals how Gap moved from "chasing relevance” to driving it, and why brand distinction is the new survival strategy against the sea of AI slop.Gap is Back, Baby.Key Takeaways:Creators are the cultural conduit, building conversational capital through authentic audience relationshipsGap's KATSEYE campaign sparked participation, not just viewership, enabling fans to own the momentPurpose-driven brands live their values quietly rather than preaching them publiclyBrand distinction becomes a survival strategy when 50% of internet traffic is botsGet Blue partnership scales Gap's influence to address global water access for 200M peopleDamon Berger [03:33]: "Creators are the conduit to what is kind of cool out in the world...the idea for us is that we have a variety of relationships with them."Damon Berger [12:14]: "That was really why one of the reasons that it was so popular and shared and viral...people started taking that video and doing all their own dances and doing their own interpretations to it and expressing themselves and joining a larger conversation."Damon Berger [15:14]: "We were just being ourselves. Ray Brescia joins The Geek in Review this week to unpack a role with peak academia vibes, Associate Dean for Research and Intellectual Life at Albany Law School. Greg frames the title as “Chief Curator of Smart People Ideas,” and Ray embraces a “player-coach” approach, coaching faculty scholarship, unblocking stalled projects, and connecting peers across disciplines. The throughline is community, research momentum, and a practical view of how ideas move from draft to impact. The conversation then pivots to the core thesis of Ray's book, Lawyer 3.0. Ray maps the legal profession across three eras: Lawyer 1.0 as a low-barrier “amorphous bar,” Lawyer 2.0 as the institutional buildout of law schools, bar exams, ethics codes, and modern law firms, and Lawyer 3.0 as the next inflection point driven by technology. Ray ties prior shifts to urbanization, immigration, and industrial-scale commerce, then parallels those forces with today's generative AI and analytics reshaping research, drafting, discovery, and service delivery.Ray retells the famous milkshake study, then translates the idea into legal services: clients are not shopping for “a lawyer,” clients are shopping for problem resolution. This reframing pushes law firms to examine intake, scoping, and service design through the lens of client outcomes, business problems, and life problems, not internal practice labels. The milkshake becomes a metaphor for product-market fit in law, with fewer crumbs on the steering wheel.Ray contrasts “bespoke services” with productized pathways, including a Model T style offering that meets most client needs at lower cost, plus higher-cost custom work when risk or complexity demands. Ray highlights expert-system style workflows such as Citizenshipworks, describing a TurboTax-like experience for straightforward matters, with “red flags” triggering referral to a lawyer. The same logic extends to limited scope representation and “lawyer for the day” programs in high-volume courts, where informed consent, reasonable scope, and “first, do no harm” reduce the chance of clients feeling abandoned midstream. The final stretch tackles law firm AI adoption, hallucination risk, and professional responsibility. Ray stresses minimum competence: verify cases, verify quotations, verify sources, and treat generative outputs as drafts or starting points, not final work product. The panel discusses guardrails, education, and workflow design for large firms, plus the rising reality of clients arriving with AI-generated “research.” Ray's crystal ball points toward more commoditized legal services at scale, a latent market of underserved people, and stronger interdisciplinary collaboration between lawyers and technologists so legal education aligns with Lawyer 3.0 realities.Listen on mobile platforms: Apple Podcasts | Spotify | YouTube | Substack [Special Thanks to Legal Technology Hub for their sponsoring this episode.]Email: geekinreviewpodcast@gmail.comMusic: Jerry David DeCiccaTranscript
In today's breastfeeding Q&A, we take calls from mothers facing the challenges that often arise well beyond the newborn phase. We begin with a question about nursing an eighteen-month-old who lifts his mother's shirt the moment she sits down, and what healthy boundaries can look like when a toddler is still deeply attached to nursing. From there, we address concerns about forceful letdowns, oversupply, pumping routines, and the role of pacifiers when feeding becomes overstimulating for the baby. We also take a call from a mother with a three-week-old who experiences gas and discomfort at the breast, and we discuss the differences between oversupply, fast flow, and the possibility of oral restrictions.Today's conversation highlights how individual feeding dynamics are and why a tailored approach is always necessary.Thank you for your thoughtful questions and for your continued support of the show. Brent Johnson returns to Bankless to update the Dollar Milkshake Theory and explain why the de-dollarization narrative misses the bigger trend. He argues markets may want out of the dollar, but the Eurodollar system keeps pulling demand back in, and “dollar down” headlines do not break the framework. Brent also covers how debt stress can spill into political instability, why stablecoins and the GENIUS Act could accelerate re-dollarization, and what this means for monetary sovereignty. We close with China's counter-strategy and how Brent thinks about positioning from here. ---
