What is a Network State and how does the concept matter in relation to the Trump administration's attempts to take Greenland - and their 'peace' proposals in Gaza and Ukraine?  This is the question I asked the transnational legal expert Dr Andrea Leiter: Who is trying to set up legal structure that mandate for No Death, No Taxes and No Democracy? And why might the rest of us end up dead or enslaved (I'll leave you to work out which you think is worse) - because as with any fascist enterprise, there will be the in-group that is protected but not constrained and the out-group that is constrained but not protected and if you're listening to this podcast, the chances of your being in the in-group are vanishingly small. So we ended up discussing Balaji Srinivasan's concepts of the Network State - and no, I have not linked to the book or the website in the show notes: if you want them, you can search.  I have, however, linkedto the ideas of the Co-ordiNations put forward by Primavera de Filippi and, of course, there's the ongoing Bioregional work being conducted by Joe Brewer and others: the merging of these two feels to me a good way forward if we're to get rid of the current Hobbesian concepts of a Nation State - which is, for sure, pretty outdated. For those who want background, Andrea works at the intersection of law, digital transformation, and economic innovation. Take my favorite Louisiana dish, gumbo, for instance. There are certain ingredients, flavors, and texture to be expected in every delicious spoonful of gumbo. Yet, everyone’s idea of a perfect gumbo is different, depending often on family recipes and traditions for making gumbo. Here, at the award-winning Mansurs on the Boulevard, gumbo is made with chicken, duck, and andouille sausage, making for a rich and flavorful stew. This week's guest, Andrea Leiter, is one of those polymaths who brings not just breadth, but astonishing depth to the work of bridging the worlds of technology, biodiversity and international law; bringing them together in service of a new way of being built from the ruins of collapse. Andrea works at the intersection of law, digital transformation, and economic innovation. Director of Amsterdam Center for International Law, she's deeply aware of, and involved in, Transnational Law, Digital Economies & Institutional Innovation, all things crypto - as well as being a Social Justice Entrepreneur. She holds a jointly awarded PhD in Law from the University of Melbourne and the University of Vienna, where her dissertation examined the historical foundations of international investment law and the legal architectures of global capital. Her resulting manuscript titled ‘Making the World Safe for Investment: The Protection of Foreign Property 1922-1959' was published with Cambridge University Press. She is a junior faculty member at the Institute for Global Law and Policy at Harvard Law School. As legal scholar and strategist, her expertise lies in transnational law, private ordering, the governance of digital economies, and the design of new institutional forms for just and sustainable futures.  I came across her when she was a guest on the Blockchain Socialist podcast - one of my must-listens - and heard that she was co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of the Sovereign Nature Initiative (SNI), a venture which aimed to 'merge nature with digital ecosystems and introduce online communities to ecological stewardship whilst developing novel funding mechanisms for vital biodiversity protection and restoration'.  you'll hear more about this in the conversation that follows, but I want to emphasise that the SNI team designed and implemented the Decentralised Ecological Economics Protocol (DEEP), which demonstrated how blockchain infrastructure can serve biodiversity goals. Over two years, SNI developed and distributed more than one million digital collectibles, activating new models of ecological value creation.Currently, Andrea leads a Dutch Research Council-funded VENI project on Decentralised Autonomous Organisations (DAOs) and their potential to reshape economic governance from below. She also serves as Acting Director of Research at the Amsterdam Center for International Law, where she guides strategic research planning and foster interdisciplinary collaboration. She also co-developed and launched an Advanced LLM in Technology Governance with a public purpose orientation, an effort that included curriculum design, funding acquisition, and stakeholder engagement.One of Andrea's superpowers is the ability to take complex concepts and make them comprehensible to ordinary people: blockchain, cryptocurrency, the difference between Bitcoin and Ethereum, the potential for technology to be used to heal as well as the many ways it is already being used to harm, so we spent the first half of our conversation exploring the baselines of where we are and what's happening in the world. Cerebrale amyloïdangiopathie (CAA) is een belangrijke en frequente oorzaak van sporadische cerebrale angiopathieën bij ouderen. De aandoening presenteert zich vaak met cognitieve achteruitgang en neurologische uitvalsverschijnselen, en gaat op beeldvorming gepaard met (micro)bloedingen, lacunaire infarcten en uitgebreide wittestofafwijkingen. In deze aflevering gaan we met Ellis van Etten, neuroloog in het LUMC, dieper in op de diagnostiek, klinische presentatie en behandeling van CAA – een ziektebeeld dat in de neurologische praktijk nog regelmatig voor diagnostische en therapeutische dilemma's zorgt. We praten over wanneer je de diagnose CAA mag stellen, het risico op hersenbloedingen en de adviezen rondom het gebruik van antistolling. Ook de cognitieve stoornissen die vaak voorkomen bij CAA komen uitgebreid aan bod. Het is verder een aflevering van afkortingen, denk aan TFNE's, CAA-RI, ABRA, en ARIA. L'asyndète est une figure de style qui peut sembler discrète, mais qui a un impact puissant sur la manière dont un texte est perçu. Le mot vient du grec a (« sans ») et syndeton (« lien »). Concrètement, il s'agit d'omettre volontairement les mots de liaison — les conjonctions comme « et », « ou », « mais » — entre plusieurs termes ou propositions.Prenons un exemple simple : au lieu de dire « Il est venu et il a vu et il a vaincu », on écrit « Il est venu, il a vu, il a vaincu ». Le sens est le même, mais le rythme change : la phrase devient plus sèche, plus percutante.L'intérêt premier de l'asyndète est donc rythmique. Elle accélère le discours, donne une impression d'urgence, de densité, de rapidité. C'est un effet que l'on retrouve beaucoup dans les maximes, les slogans ou les récits épiques. César, en déclarant « Veni, vidi, vici », n'a pas seulement raconté une victoire : il l'a rendue foudroyante par l'usage de l'asyndète.Mais l'asyndète a aussi une valeur stylistique et expressive. En supprimant les liens, on laisse les mots se juxtaposer comme des coups de pinceau bruts, créant une intensité dramatique. Dans un discours politique, elle peut donner un ton martial ou solennel. Dans un poème, elle peut exprimer l'accumulation, le vertige, l'émotion débordante.Cette figure de style s'oppose à la polysyndète, qui, elle, multiplie les conjonctions pour créer un effet d'abondance. Là où la polysyndète ralentit et insiste, l'asyndète tranche et accélère.Son intérêt ne se limite pas au beau langage : l'asyndète est très présente dans le langage quotidien et médiatique. Un journal titrera : « Chômage, inflation, colère sociale » plutôt que « Chômage et inflation et colère sociale ». C'est plus percutant, plus mémorable.Enfin, l'asyndète a un effet psychologique : elle laisse l'auditeur ou le lecteur combler mentalement les liens absents. En ce sens, elle rend le message plus actif, presque interactif. On retient mieux une énumération asyndétique qu'une longue phrase laborieuse.En résumé, l'asyndète est l'art d'en dire plus en en disant moins. En supprimant les liaisons, elle donne au texte un souffle plus vif, plus énergique, plus frappant. Ce nu s-a văzut la TV: surprize, negocieri purtate până la votul final, atacuri interne și scepticism privind împărțirea funcțiilor (Libertatea) - Bucureștiul vrea iar zone fără mașini poluante. De ce n-a reușit în 2019 și care sunt „rețetele” altor capitale europene (SpotMedia) - Istoric, despre scandările „Ceaușescu!” de la „Beach, Please!”: „Așa au apărut lucrurile și în Rusia, cu evocări sentimentale” (Adevărul) Moţiunea de cenzură împotriva Guvernului Bolojan – dezbătută şi supusă votului, luni, în plenul comun al Parlamentului (G4Media) Moţiunea de cenzură depusă de parlamentarii AUR împotriva Executivului şi intitulată „Au ruinat ţara şi acum îi obligă pe români să achite nota de plată – afară cu Guvernul ipocrit” va fi dezbătută şi supusă votului luni, de la ora 15:00, în plenul Parlamentului. Moţiunea de cenzură, semnată de parlamentari AUR, POT, S.O.S. România şi neafiliaţi, a fost prezentată săptămâna trecută de liderul senatorilor AUR, Petrişor Peiu, în fața unei săli aproape goale. Parlamentarii partidelor din coaliţia de guvernare, PSD, PNL, USR, UDMR, vor asigura cvorumul la şedinţă, dar nu vor vota. Anunţul a fost făcut de preşedintele interimar al PSD, Sorin Grindeanu. Pentru a fi adoptată moţiunea de cenzură este nevoie de 233 de voturi pentru. Votul va fi secret cu bile. Dacă moţiunea de cenzură va primi votul majorităţii deputaţilor şi senatorilor, atunci Guvernul Bolojan este demis. Dacă aceasta nu va fi adoptată, atunci proiectul pe care Executivul şi-a asumat răspunderea este adoptat. Congres PNL. Ce nu s-a văzut la TV: surprize, negocieri purtate până la votul final, atacuri interne și scepticism privind împărțirea funcțiilor (Libertatea) Congresul PNL nu a fost doar o competiție în care s-a ales conducerea liberală, în urma unor lupte și negocieri dure, dar și loc de socializare și discuții privind teme importante pentru orice membru de vază: cum se împart funcțiile pe vreme de austeritate și cu încă un partid în coaliție. După patru ani de pauză electorală internă, pentru că alegerea lui Nicolae Ciucă la Congresul din 2022 numai competiție nu a fost, liberalii și-au înnoit garda, într-un cadru mai puțin tensionat față de aprilie 2021, dar unde au existat în continuare orgolii. Iar lupta cea mare a fost pentru funcțiile de prim-vicepreședinte. Nicoleta Pauliuc, senatoare de Ilfov, a purtat discuții om la om și i-a chemat la poze pe toți cei pe care îi întâlnea. La rândul său, campanie până pe ultima sută de metri a făcut și Adrian Veștea (șeful CJ Brașov și secretar general interimar). Acesta a mers să poate discuții om la om, iar în sala unde a fost ținut Congresul pe toate scaunele puteau fi găsiți fluturași cu candidatura aceasta. În ceea ce privește ceilalți candidați, oarecum surprinzătoare a fost o ostilitate destul de mare la o parte din delegații din sud, fie că erau din filiale din București, fie din județe. Veniți ca invitați au fost Nicușor Dan (președintele României), Igor Grosu (președintele Parlamentului Rep. Moldova), Ionuț Moșteanu (prezentat eronat ca lider al parlamentarilor USR, deși acum e ministru al Apărării, iar în trecut a fost șef doar la Cameră), dar și Csoma Botond (liderul deputaților UDMR), precum și Varujan Pambuccian, liderul Grupului minorităților. Bucureștiul vrea iar zone fără mașini poluante. De ce n-a reușit în 2019 și care sunt „rețetele” altor capitale europene (SpotMedia) Primăria Capitalei a lansat în dezbatere publică Planul de Acțiune pentru Orașe Verzi – un document strategic care propune, printre altele, delimitarea, în București, a unor zone cu emisii reduse (cunoscute în engleză ca Low Emission Zones sau LEZ), În aceste zone, accesul vehiculelor vechi și poluante ar urma să fie restricționat, cu scopul de a reduce nivelul de poluare din oraș. Planul de Acțiune pentru Orașe Verzi este scris de o echipă de experți internaționali, selectați și coordonați de BERD. Documentul e gata încă din 2023, dar n-a fost încă adoptat, din cauză că era nevoie să parcurgă un traseu birocratic. Acum a ajuns în etapa finală. Alte capitale europene au adoptat astfel de măsuri în urmă cu zeci de ani. A avut și Bucureștiul  o tentativă în 2019, în timpul mandatului Gabrielei Firea. Dar până la urmă, de teamă să-și piară capitalul politic, Firea a făcut pasul înapoi. Istoric, despre scandările „Ceaușescu!” de la „Beach, Please!”: „Așa au apărut lucrurile și în Rusia, cu evocări sentimentale” (Adevărul) Scandările pro-Ceaușescu de la festivalul „Beach, Please!” reflectă un val periculos de nostalgie totalitară, chiar dacă organizatorii invocă o glumă, atrage atenția istoricul Cosmin Popa. Institutul de Investigare a Crimelor Comunismului şi Memoria Exilului Românesc (IICCMER) a reacționat, duminică, după apariția unor imagini video în care un grup de participanți la festivalul „Beach, please!” a scandat „Ceaușescu! Ceaușescu!” la vederea lui Selly (Andrei Șelaru), organizatorul festivalului. „A fost o glumă” ar putea explica tinerii, nicidecum un act de omagiere a fostului dictator comunist, știut fiind faptul că Selly este poreclit „dictatorul”, explicația lui fiind aceea că a primit această poreclă pentru eficiența cu care organizează lucrurile. Realitatea este însă aceea că societatea românească se confruntă cu un val de nostalgii totalitare, iar pe acest teren mișcările de destabilizare sunt ușor de implementat.

”Suntem la finalul unei săptămâni de discuţii legate de programul de guvernare şi cred că este corect să vă prezit în mod onest în ce situaţie se găseştre România”. Liderul interimar al PNL, Ilie Bolojan a organizat o conferință de presă dupa ce, la finalul catorva zile de negocieri, partidele parlamentare nu au cazut de acord nici asupra masurilor de reducere a deficitului, nici asupra unui nume de premier. Premierul israelian Benjamin Netanyahu urmează să discute la telefon cu preşedinţii american Donald Trump şi rus Vladimir Putin, în urma atacurilor Israelului în Iran Israelul a lansat un atac major asupra Iranului. Operaţiunea „Rising Lion” vizează programul nuclear al Teheranului şi va dura mai multe zile, a transmis premierul Netanyahu. Conducerea militara a republicii islamice a fost decapitata. Iranul ameninţă că ”nu va avea limite” în răspunsul său.  Sondaj INSCOP : Aproape jumătate dintre români nu știu ce a fost Mineriada din 1990.  Aproape jumătate dintre români nu ştiu ce s-a întâmplat la Mineriada din iunie 1990,  conform unui Barometru INSCOP. Mai mult de jumătate dintre cei chestionaţi declară că ar participa la proteste de stradă dacă drepturile şi libertăţile le-ar fi încălcate.

Friends of the Rosary,Today, June 8, is Pentecost Sunday. In this Solemnity of Pentecost — one of the greatest feasts of Christianity alongside Christmas and Easter, we commemorate the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles, Mary, and the Disciples, as well as the fruits and effects of the completion of the work of redemption.As we read in Acts 2:1-11,When the time for Pentecost was fulfilled,they were all in one place together.And suddenly there came from the skya noise like a strong driving wind,and it filled the entire house in which they were.Then there appeared to them tongues as of fire,which parted and came to rest on each one of them.And they were all filled with the Holy Spiritand began to speak in different tongues,as the Spirit enabled them to proclaim.Devout Jews from every nation staying in Jerusalem gathered in a large crowd at this sound. Podľa nej je namieste sa vážne obávať i o ďalší osud cenných umeleckých zbierok SNG.Prišli, uvideli a ukončili. I takouto parafrázou starorímskeho" Veni, vidi, vici" by sa dalo charakterizovať pôsobenie aktuálneho vedenia rezortu kultúry. Tentoraz si rozhorčenie (či neznalosť) ministerky kultúry odnáša expozícia súčasného umenia v Slovenskej národnej galérií.Expozície Model: Múzeum súčasného umenia sa stala ďalším terčom ministerky kultúry a kvôli nej premiér prelomil svoju dlhodobú nechuť - či nezáujem, a Slovenskú národnú galériu dokonca poctil i osobnou návštevou. Expozícia však končí a premiér sľubuje, že "Urobí všetko pre to, aby moderné kúsky boli nahradené nádhernými slovenskými obrazmi, ktorých sú plné depozity. " "Slovenská kultúra to prežije, ale je to strašná hanba," tvrdí jej kurátorka. Čo je dôvodom tohto útoku moci na súčasné výtvarné umenie? Čo všetko do umenia patrí - i keď nás to môže vyrušovať či poburovať? Ako je umenie prepojené s mocou či snahou moci umenie ovládnuť alebo naopak, vymazať? Prečo je nezmyslom hovoriť o vkuse a diskutovať o tom, čo sa nám páči? Sme kultúrni barbari alebo sa vraciame v čase? No a nepripomína to nacistické praktiky zakazovanie takzvaného "Zdegenerovaného umenia"? "Samozrejme, že to má spoločné znaky. Myslím si, že neonacistický spôsob ako budeme diktovať to, kto môže byť reprezentovaný, kto môže hovoriť za seba a aj za iných, ako to hovorí a či je to pekné, kto to môže počúvať, pozerať a tak ďalej... To je znak nacizmu. Podnietiť nenávisť, nielen voči umelcom, ale aj voči tomu, čo reprezentujú čiže voči Židom, ženám, voči ľuďom, ktorí sú nejakým spôsobom na okraji toho, čo sa považuje za normálne - čiže normalizované," myslí si Lucia Gregorová Stach. Motívy však môžu byť aj oveľa prozaickejšie a prízemnejšie. SNG totiž disponuje obrovským fondom vzácnych umeleckých diel a zbierkových predmetov. Odborníci tak majú o tieto cenné predmety v depozitároch SNG vážne obavy."Tu nejde o snahu vymeniť jedného umelca za druhého, ani neprišli s nejakým výstavným plánom, kde by boli tí, ktorí neboli reprezentovaní. Nie, oni nemajú žiaden plán, podľa mňa je ich plánom rozbiť existujúce štruktúry a v tej tme a zmätku, ktoré nastanú sa môže stať všeličo," dodáva Lucia Gregorová Stach.Počúvate Ráno Nahlas, pekný deň a pokoj v duši praje Braňo Dobšinský.
