Parallel. Relentless." Self-answered questions : asks what nobody asked, answers it immediately. e.g. "The problem? Nobody asked." Anaphora : the same sentence opening until it becomes furniture. e.g. "They open sentences the same way. They open the next one the same way." Trailing "-ing" analysis : shallow significance bolted onto a finished sentence. e.g. "highlighting its enduring importance", "reflecting broader trends" False ranges : "from X to Y" where there is no scale and no middle. e.g. "from cesspit to citation" Filler transitions : connect nothing to nothing. e.g. "it's worth noting", "importantly", "notably" The interjection reflex : every sentence broken in half, whatever the punctuation. e.g. em-dash, double hyphen, comma pair, colon Comma-clipped tail : a short phrase hung off a comma instead of landing the point. e.g. "above the content, and save." Part three: Tone Manufactured suspense : the buildup arrives, the revelation does not. e.g. "here's the thing", "here's the kicker" Patronising analogy : teacher mode, uninvited. e.g. "think of it as a Swiss Army knife for condescension" Forced figurative language : a metaphor picked for cleverness rather than clarity. e.g. "Picture a bicycle. The tie-back : closes by looping the answer back to the original question, long after the point was made. e.g. "So, to answer your question..." Concede and dismiss : e.g. "despite its fluency, it faces challenges typical of automated systems. Despite those challenges, it endures." Signposted conclusion : competent writing does not need to announce that it is ending. e.g. "in conclusion", "to sum up", "in summary" The conclusion that refuses to end : clause stacked on clause, quieter and more meaningful each time. e.g. "the real AI generated text was the paragraphs we scrolled past along the way" Engagement bait : e.g. "Agree?" plus a pointing emoji Tells on the list that did not fit in the episode The recording would have run to forty minutes. These are worth knowing anyway. Reasoning leak : the text narrating its own decisions instead of just making them. e.g. "I want to be exact about my own role here." Premise stacking : a paragraph of evidence in front of the point, so the point has been made twice before it arrives Compulsive counting : states the number of items before listing them. e.g. "Five things we wish to discuss" Excessive enumeration : a listicle disguised as prose. e.g. "The first wall is... The second wall is..." Belaboring the unnecessary : defending a minor point against an objection nobody was going to raise Synonym cycling : refusing to repeat a noun. e.g. the dashboard, then the interface, then the portal, then the analytics hub Wh-headings : the default shape a model reaches for when naming a section. e.g. "What this means", "Why it matters" Content duplication : the same paragraph appearing twice, because the model lost track of what it had written Why this is not a detector guide Liang, Yuksekgonul, Mao, Wu and Zou, Stanford, published in Patterns (Cell Press) on 10 July 2023. Seven commercial GPT detectors were run over 91 TOEFL essays written by non-native English speakers and 88 US eighth grade essays. Average false positive rate on the TOEFL essays: 61.3 percent. 89 of the 91 essays were flagged as AI generated by at least one detector. All seven agreed on 18 of them. The US eighth grade essays came back near perfect. Plainer word choice, lower perplexity, reads as machine to the software. So the way to stop being accused of writing like a machine was to have a machine rewrite you. Într-o mulțime de informații economice importante, despre prețul țițeiului, tariful gazului natural sau despre inflația care amenință economia europeană, o știre atrage atenția. Este un articol care, pe de o parte, dă un răspuns la întrebarea: „ce se va întâmpla cu locurile de muncă?” și, pe de altă parte, oferă o imagine asupra felului în care va arăta economia următorilor ani. Așadar, profit.ro a publicat o analiză realizată cu ocazia prezentării la Paris de către Renault a planului strategic al grupului. Astfel, președintele director general al grupului Renault a anunțat că în următorii ani vor fi „angajați” 350 de roboți umanoizi Calvin-40 în fabricile companiei. Șeful Renault a dat și o serie de detalii legate de zonele de producție în care vor lucra roboții, dar și fabricile în care aceștia vor fi introduși în prima etapă. În primul rând, roboții vor fi folosiți în zonele cu muncă dificilă, dar și cu operațiuni repetitive. Reprezentantul Renault, citat de profit.ro, a oferit și câteva exemple. Roboții vor fi implementați în procese de producție care presupun ridicarea și transportul de piese cu greutate mare, cum sunt anvelopele sau pe liniile de fabricație pe care se asamblează caroseriile. De exemplu, roboții industriali pot transporta greutăți de 40 de kilograme pe distanțe mari. În al doilea rând, roboții vor prelua activitățile repetitive. Sunt încă multe locuri în fabrici în care salariații duc o piesă „din punctul A în punctul B”, după cum spune chiar reprezentantul constructorului francez. Desigur, declarațiile oficiale nu fac legătura în mod direct între introducerea roboților și reducerea locurilor de muncă. Dar, lucrurile sunt evidente. Creșterea gradului de automatizare merge mână în mână cu restructurarea salariaților. În cel mai bun caz, poate avea loc o schimbare de pondere, respectiv o reducere a numărului de posturi de execuție fără calificare înaltă și o creștere a numărului de angajați specializați în domeniul cercetării-dezvoltării, marketingului sau noilor tehnologii. Este, însă, clar că reducerile nu vor fi egale cu angajările, ci balanța se va înclina în favoarea unor reduceri de costuri. De altfel, fabrica de la Mioveni a aplicat, inclusiv anul acesta, o metodă „soft” de reducere a numărului de locuri de muncă. Este vorba despre un program de plecări voluntare, prin intermediul căruia au fost disponibilizați aproximativ 900 de salariați primind în schimb între 5.000 și 40.000 de euro, în funcție de criteriile stabilite de companie. Care sunt uzinele în care vor fi introduși roboții? Reprezentantul constructorului auto francez a explicat că primele fabrici în care vor lucra roboții vor fi cele deja automatizate, respectiv uzinele din Europa de Vest și din Coreea de Sud. În pasul următor, vor fi incluse în program și fabricile din România, Turcia și Maroc. Renault nu este singurul producător auto care va introduce roboți umanoizi pe fluxurile de producție. Astfel de investiții au anunțat și BMW, Mercedes, Hyundai sau Tesla. Președintele director general al grupului Renault a explicat în cadrul evenimentului de la Paris și obiectivele operațiunii de implementare în fabrici a 350 de roboți umanoizi. Grupul francez va reduce la jumătate timpii de întrerupere din uzine, va scădea cu 25% consumul de energie și va obține o diminuare a costurilor de producție cu 20%. Toate aceste creșteri de eficiență se vor face nu doar prin utilizarea roboților, ci și prin folosirea inteligenței artificiale. Planul strategic al grupului Renault ne dă un răspuns și la întrebarea pe care o auzim destul de des și anume: care va fi viitorul uzinei Dacia din Pitești? Din dorința de a crește productivitatea și competitivitatea, fabrica de la Mioveni va continua să fie tot mai tehnologizată. Deci, uzinele Dacia nu se vor închide, ci se vor moderniza.

What is a Network State and how does the concept matter in relation to the Trump administration's attempts to take Greenland - and their 'peace' proposals in Gaza and Ukraine?  This is the question I asked the transnational legal expert Dr Andrea Leiter: Who is trying to set up legal structure that mandate for No Death, No Taxes and No Democracy? Louisiana cuisine is famous for its bold, flavorful dishes like gumbo, jambalaya, and crawfish étouffée. Stemming from rich French, Spanish, African, and Native American influences, our world famous fare is illuminated primarily through Cajun and Creole traditions, using local seafood, smoked meats, rice, and spices for iconic meals. Take my favorite Louisiana dish, gumbo, for instance. There are certain ingredients, flavors, and texture to be expected in every delicious spoonful of gumbo. Yet, everyone’s idea of a perfect gumbo is different, depending often on family recipes and traditions for making gumbo. Here, at the award-winning Mansurs on the Boulevard, gumbo is made with chicken, duck, and andouille sausage, making for a rich and flavorful stew. Arguably, it's both the ingredients and care that go into making gumbo that makes it special. Most Louisianans would argue that making gumbo is an art. Much like a chef making gumbo, my lunch guests, Veni Harlan and Madeline Johnson, are creative entrepreneurs combining and utilizing multiple disciplines to build thriving businesses in the Baton Rouge community. A multidisciplinary creative, Veni Harlan of Veni Harlan Creative, has enjoyed a varied career as a graphic designer, photographer, art director, and writer. As a communications specialist, Veni uses these creative disciplines to solve communication problems for clients—everything from bank reports and toys to packaging, billboards, food shoots and location work. In January 2025, Madeline decided to combine her two fields and launched Miss Madeline’s, an atypical hair salon that looks and feels more like a therapy room. Unlike other salons, Miss Madeline’s offers minimal decor in neutral tones and sensory tools like Pop-Its, a weighted lion, and textured toys. This week's guest, Andrea Leiter, is one of those polymaths who brings not just breadth, but astonishing depth to the work of bridging the worlds of technology, biodiversity and international law; bringing them together in service of a new way of being built from the ruins of collapse. Andrea works at the intersection of law, digital transformation, and economic innovation. Director of Amsterdam Center for International Law, she's deeply aware of, and involved in, Transnational Law, Digital Economies & Institutional Innovation, all things crypto - as well as being a Social Justice Entrepreneur. She holds a jointly awarded PhD in Law from the University of Melbourne and the University of Vienna, where her dissertation examined the historical foundations of international investment law and the legal architectures of global capital. Her resulting manuscript titled ‘Making the World Safe for Investment: The Protection of Foreign Property 1922-1959' was published with Cambridge University Press. She is a junior faculty member at the Institute for Global Law and Policy at Harvard Law School. As legal scholar and strategist, her expertise lies in transnational law, private ordering, the governance of digital economies, and the design of new institutional forms for just and sustainable futures.  I came across her when she was a guest on the Blockchain Socialist podcast - one of my must-listens - and heard that she was co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of the Sovereign Nature Initiative (SNI), a venture which aimed to 'merge nature with digital ecosystems and introduce online communities to ecological stewardship whilst developing novel funding mechanisms for vital biodiversity protection and restoration'.  you'll hear more about this in the conversation that follows, but I want to emphasise that the SNI team designed and implemented the Decentralised Ecological Economics Protocol (DEEP), which demonstrated how blockchain infrastructure can serve biodiversity goals. Over two years, SNI developed and distributed more than one million digital collectibles, activating new models of ecological value creation.Currently, Andrea leads a Dutch Research Council-funded VENI project on Decentralised Autonomous Organisations (DAOs) and their potential to reshape economic governance from below. She also serves as Acting Director of Research at the Amsterdam Center for International Law, where she guides strategic research planning and foster interdisciplinary collaboration. She also co-developed and launched an Advanced LLM in Technology Governance with a public purpose orientation, an effort that included curriculum design, funding acquisition, and stakeholder engagement.One of Andrea's superpowers is the ability to take complex concepts and make them comprehensible to ordinary people: blockchain, cryptocurrency, the difference between Bitcoin and Ethereum, the potential for technology to be used to heal as well as the many ways it is already being used to harm, so we spent the first half of our conversation exploring the baselines of where we are and what's happening in the world. L'asyndète est une figure de style qui peut sembler discrète, mais qui a un impact puissant sur la manière dont un texte est perçu. Le mot vient du grec a (« sans ») et syndeton (« lien »). Concrètement, il s'agit d'omettre volontairement les mots de liaison — les conjonctions comme « et », « ou », « mais » — entre plusieurs termes ou propositions.Prenons un exemple simple : au lieu de dire « Il est venu et il a vu et il a vaincu », on écrit « Il est venu, il a vu, il a vaincu ». Le sens est le même, mais le rythme change : la phrase devient plus sèche, plus percutante.L'intérêt premier de l'asyndète est donc rythmique. Elle accélère le discours, donne une impression d'urgence, de densité, de rapidité. C'est un effet que l'on retrouve beaucoup dans les maximes, les slogans ou les récits épiques. César, en déclarant « Veni, vidi, vici », n'a pas seulement raconté une victoire : il l'a rendue foudroyante par l'usage de l'asyndète.Mais l'asyndète a aussi une valeur stylistique et expressive. En supprimant les liens, on laisse les mots se juxtaposer comme des coups de pinceau bruts, créant une intensité dramatique. Dans un discours politique, elle peut donner un ton martial ou solennel. Dans un poème, elle peut exprimer l'accumulation, le vertige, l'émotion débordante.Cette figure de style s'oppose à la polysyndète, qui, elle, multiplie les conjonctions pour créer un effet d'abondance. Là où la polysyndète ralentit et insiste, l'asyndète tranche et accélère.Son intérêt ne se limite pas au beau langage : l'asyndète est très présente dans le langage quotidien et médiatique. Un journal titrera : « Chômage, inflation, colère sociale » plutôt que « Chômage et inflation et colère sociale ». C'est plus percutant, plus mémorable.Enfin, l'asyndète a un effet psychologique : elle laisse l'auditeur ou le lecteur combler mentalement les liens absents. En ce sens, elle rend le message plus actif, presque interactif. On retient mieux une énumération asyndétique qu'une longue phrase laborieuse.En résumé, l'asyndète est l'art d'en dire plus en en disant moins. En supprimant les liaisons, elle donne au texte un souffle plus vif, plus énergique, plus frappant.
