We may already be past Christmas technically, but what a day or two delay? Thanks to the recent winter storms we got a tad delayed in releasing this episode, but better late than never. Today we return, once again, to the world of Tasha Tudor. Last time we considered one of her books we were examining her A Time to Keep (a favorite of Betsy's, Kate ... not so much). There are many different iterations of Clement C. Moore's classic poem, but how many take the man at his word and decide to depict Santa as a tiny, pointy eared elf? The Rich Zeoli Show- Full Episode (12/21/2022): 3:05pm- On Tuesday evening, the U.S. Senate advanced a massive $1.7 trillion spending package with a bipartisan 70 to 25-vote—less than one day after it was unveiled. At 4,155 pages, how was any Senator able to read the bill in its entirety before voting? 3:25pm- According to The Daily Wire, Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) “requested at least 19 earmarks totaling more than $60 million in the $1.7 trillion bill.” Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) called the process by which the omnibus bill was advanced in the Senate an “abomination.”  3:40pm- Vincent Kolber—Chairman of RESIDCO, a transportation equipment leasing company—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to discuss his recent Wall Street Journal opinion editorial, “How Much Washington Really Owes: $100 Trillion.” Kolber writes that, according to calculations from the U.S. Treasury, “[t]otal liabilities were $34.8 trillion at the end of fiscal 2021. The Treasury reported assets at $4.9 trillion. Simple arithmetic brings us to the net position, negative $29.9 trillion. But this accounting leaves a lot out. Social insurance net expenditures calculates the difference between the expected future liabilities of Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and similar programs over the next 75 years and the income these programs are expected to generate during the same period under current law. The Treasury reported these unfunded liabilities at $71 trillion at the end of fiscal 2021. That brings us to the alarming milestone. Shouldn't he have thrown on a jacket and tie?  4:40pm- In a new Wall Street Journal editorial, journalist Simone Goa hypothesized that Chinese officials may suddenly be embracing less strict COVID lockdown policies because the government is “running out of money.” Gao calculates that the annual cost of “nucleic-acid testing” could potentially “exceed $240 billion.”  4:55pm- While speaking at a school board training event, Governor Ron DeSantis vowed to work tirelessly to get more conservatives elected to school boards throughout Florida. DeSantis also introduced an updated version of the “Freedom Blueprint”—which would end the automatic withdrawal of union dues for teachers. 5:00pm- Dr. E.J. Antoni—Research Fellow for Regional Economics in the Center for Data Analysis at The Heritage Foundation—joins The Rich Zeoli Show to break down the most egregious earmarks (and there are many) in the $1.7 trillion omnibus bill advanced by the U.S. Senate.  5:10pm- On Wednesday, U.S. President Joe Biden held a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Biden has promised to supply Ukraine with a $1.86 billion security assistance package. Each year we read variations of the classic poem, The Night Before Christmas. Today's version is the Redneck Night Before Christmas read to us by The Tactical Redneck.

When it comes to holiday traditions, we think of decorating Christmas trees, baking cookies, the Elf on the Shelf, or lighting a menorah. But holiday traditions are far more unusual and diverse throughout the world. Some might really surprise you! He is the definition of festive and his excitement is infectious, inspiring feelings of cheer and joy. While he and I spent the day decorating our new Christmas tree, I was reminded of what's truly important during the holidays-- being with my family, seeing my son filled with pure joy and happiness despite his challenges. The holidays can bring about stress, anxiety and sadness for many families. For those families finding themselves in a hard season, remember you're not alone and it will get better. However small or insignificant, define your own holiday cheer. Ed Gabler Growing up, the holidays meant a real tree in the corner of the living room, tied to each wall so the cats wouldn't knock it over. My dad read 'Twas the Night Before Christmas to all of us kids and on New Year's Eve. After my children were born, my wife and I started new traditions. Now as a grandparent, we share traditions with our daughter's family, but it looks a little different. Our grandson Cole was diagnosed with SYNGAP1 and making holiday cheer has required some adaptations and improvising. Cole's mom and dad created traditions to include everyone. They focus on the small wins, the smiles and laughs Cole shares when he's happy or excited. Rare holiday cheer is special.  Anthony Royal  As far back as I can remember, the holidays have never been a joyous occasion for me. In South Carolina, the holidays were warm-- no fluffy, white snow or kids speeding downhill on sleds. As a kid with un-diagnosed ADHD and anxiety, having more family around meant more people around to be mad at me for something. I was never keen on Santa either. My wife goes all out on decorations with five Christmas trees in the house, lights, holidays signs and swag along the halls. My son also loves the holidays. He has CTNNB1 syndrome with symptoms that make life difficult for him, many of which have only added to my holiday depression in the past years. My son's excitement for the holidays has helped me to love them again. You could say my heart has grown three sizes since he was born.
