Today's guest is a global authority on supply chain deployment who knows that behind every “overnight success” is usually a shipping delay, a tariff surprise, and a spreadsheet that nobody wants to open. Dan Krouse's story began with little more than a briefcase and persistence, but evolved into a four-decade career of turning chaos into competitive advantages. First ascending the ladder of a foremost international corporation, and now, as Founder of Supply Chain Analytics. Send us Fan MailIn this episode of the Talking Pools Podcast, hosts Lee Salisbury, Shane Sneddon, and Nick discuss one of the most challenging and often frustrating aspects of pool service: leak detection. From simple dye tests and bucket tests to advanced acoustic listening devices, pressure testing, and underground leak locating equipment, the team shares real-world experiences, troubleshooting techniques, and lessons learned from years in the field. Topics CoveredWhy Leak Detection Is a Specialized SkillLeak detection often goes far beyond finding a wet spot in the yard. The hosts discuss how locating leaks requires patience, methodical troubleshooting, experience, and sometimes specialized equipment that represents a significant investment for a service company. Common Leak Sources Every Technician Should Check FirstBefore investing in advanced equipment, technicians can often identify many leaks through basic inspection and process-of-elimination techniques, including: Multiport valve waste lines Hydrostatic relief valves Skimmer box cracks Skimmer faceplates and gaskets Return fittings Suction-side plumbing Equipment pad leaks Pump lid cracks and air leaks The hosts explain why many leaks can be found without expensive equipment when a systematic approach is used. Dye Testing: Every Technician's Best FriendOne of the most effective and affordable leak detection tools remains simple dye testing. The discussion covers: How dye reveals water movement Why water table levels can affect results Choosing the right dye color for different pool finishes Common mistakes when performing dye tests Creative field solutions using syringes, plasticine, and simple tools The team also discusses fluorescent dyes and situations where standard dye colors become difficult to see. When the Water Table Changes EverythingHeavy rainfall and high groundwater can completely change leak detection results. Shane shares examples where visible holes in vinyl liners showed no water loss because surrounding groundwater pressure equalized the leak. Understanding groundwater conditions is critical when diagnosing suspected leaks. Vinyl Pool Leak ChallengesThe hosts discuss: Large vinyl liner tears Aging liner failures Temporary patching methods When repairs are no longer practical Recognizing when liner replacement is the only realistic solution Real-world examples illustrate why some repairs become recurring service calls if underlying liner deterioration is ignored. Fiberglass Pool Failures and Structural IssuesSeveral unusual fiberglass pool failures are discussed, including: Pool walls collapsing due to improper backfill Hydrostatic valve failures Pools lifting out of the ground despite being full of water Drainage design failures around pool shells These stories highlight why understanding soil conditions and groundwater management is just as important as understanding plumbing. Advanced Leak Detection EquipmentShane explains the equipment used by professional leak detection companies, including: Acoustic microphones Pipe microphones Pressure testing systems Underground listening devices Sonar and sound-based locating systems The discussion includes how these systems work, their limitations, and why training is essential before offering leak detection as a professional service. Is Leak Detection Worth Adding to Your Business? For service companies considering expanding into leak detection, the hosts discuss: Equipment costs Training requirements Insurance considerations Break-even analysis Market demand Scheduling and labor requirements They emphasize the importance of understanding profitability before investing heavily in specialized services. Knowing When to Call a SpecialistNot every pool company needs to perform advanced leak detection. The hosts discuss the value of building relationships with trusted specialists and recognizing when a problem exceeds your equipment, experience, or risk tolerance. Real-World Leak StoriesThe episode features several memorable leak investigations, including: A pool that only leaked intermittently A cracked pump lid causing major system issues Underground plumbing surprises Faulty underground repairs Hidden plumbing modifications discovered during excavation These stories demonstrate why leak detection often feels more like detective work than pool service. Field Tips and TricksThe hosts share practical technician tips, including: Bucket testing procedures Using plasticine and Blu Tack for temporary line isolation Why proper expansion plugs matter Temporary repair products that actually work The dangers of underground rubber couplers Repair materials for emergency situations These small tricks can save technicians hours of frustration in the field. Key TakeawaySuccessful leak detection is built on a systematic process of elimination. Start with the obvious, verify assumptions, test methodically, and know your limitations. Whether you're using a simple dye syringe or advanced acoustic equipment, the goal remains the same: gather evidence, eliminate possibilities, and follow the facts until the leak reveals itself. What happens when a gifted person becomes dissatisfied with the assignment God has given them? In this episode of Silent Leaks, we explore one of the most sobering stories in Scripture—the rebellion of Korah in Numbers 16. At first glance, Korah's argument sounds reasonable. He speaks of equality, fairness, and shared leadership. But beneath his words was a hidden leak: resentment. Korah was not an outsider. He was already chosen, already serving, and already blessed. Yet he became consumed with what God had given someone else. What began as comparison turned into jealousy. Jealousy became bitterness. Bitterness became rebellion. And rebellion brought destruction. This message challenges us to examine the hidden places of our hearts: Have we become dissatisfied with God's assignment for our lives? Are we celebrating others' success or secretly resenting it? Have we confused position with purpose? Are we seeking influence, or are we faithfully serving where God has planted us? Through the story of Korah, we discover that some of the most dangerous sins are not the ones everyone sees, but the ones that quietly grow beneath the surface. Resentment is a silent leak that can drain gratitude, distort perspective, and damage relationships before anyone notices. Join Pastor Dr. Peter Eley as he unpacks the spiritual danger of comparison, the power of contentment, and the importance of embracing the calling God has uniquely given you.
In this episode, we break down the financial anatomy of your business by counting down the top 10 expenses that are likely eating your profit margins and show you how to start tracking them to stop guessing and start scaling.

Six weeks. Six shows. In this final episode of the Leaks in Performance series, Marcus closes the loop on everything. Identity, standards, emotional load, the gap between who you say you are and who you prove you are, complexity, and simplicity. The core message: your performance is not leaking because of your training plan. The leak starts with who you are and how you live. An overcomplicated plan just makes it worse.Marcus walks through the full cycle: unclear identity leads to drifting standards, drifting standards lead to erratic behaviour, erratic behaviour drains emotional energy, and drained emotional energy kills performance capacity. Round and round it goes until you go to the source and fix it properly. If you have followed the series, this one ties it all up. If you are just landing here, go back to episode 1010 and start from the beginning. You will not regret it.Enjoyed the episode? Got something to share? Drop Marcus a message at winning@innerfight.com whether you need help, want to share how you are getting on, or just have something to say.

In this episode of Locked In with Ian Bick, Keith pulls back the curtain on what it really looks like inside the NYPD — from stopping robberies undercover in Chinatown to working homicide investigations in Midtown before transitioning to the DA's office where he worked protective detail during the Trump trial. He breaks down the truth about New York City safety, why cops do perp walks and whether that will ever change, how detectives manage massive caseloads, and why Rikers Island will never close no matter what politicians say. _____________________________________________ #NYPD #TrueCrime #newyorkcity _____________________________________________ Connect with Keith O'Palick: Website: https://www.kopinvestigations.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/keith.opalick/ Book: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FLNM7RCG?ref=cm_sw_r_ffobk_cso_cp_apin_dp_2P37RZCM562NNWMBXTPZ&ref_=cm_sw_r_ffobk_cso_cp_apin_dp_2P37RZCM562NNWMBXTPZ&social_share=cm_sw_r_ffobk_cso_cp_apin_dp_2P37RZCM562NNWMBXTPZ&bestFormat=true&csmig=1&fbclid=PAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQPOTM2NjE5NzQzMzkyNDU5AAGn63jIRsGPGC4zobZdkhXB-SHKDcjFTYKdqG3saWzaiQ25l7-mRZ5W9bxxfAo_aem_eQi9Wpvz6EQIYg2i5R6Wrw&utm_content=link_in_bio&utm_medium=social&utm_source=ig _____________________________________________ Hosted, Executive Produced & Edited By Ian Bick: https://www.instagram.com/ian_bick/?hl=en https://ianbick.com/ _____________________________________________ Timestamps: 00:00 Meet Keith Opalik: 20+ Years NYPD 00:24 Growing Up in NYC & The Road to Policing 01:21 Why He Chose the NYPD 03:20 Family, Roots & Early Influences 04:44 What Pulled Him Into Law Enforcement 07:12 How His Parents Reacted to "I'm Becoming a Cop" 08:55 Should Future Cops Go to College? 10:26 Day One: His First Assignment on the Force 12:48 Going Plainclothes 15:00 Undercover: The Taxi Cab Sting Tactics 19:13 Policing a City That Never Stops Changing 22:01 The Admin Battles Nobody Warns You About 26:13 Promotions, Politics & Internal Affairs 29:36 First Detective Case (And the Media Circus) 32:01 Working the Media as a Detective 34:38 Leaks, Pressure & High-Profile Cases 38:08 Why Some Cases Go Viral 42:22 Midtown vs. Every Other Precinct 45:57 The Crimes That Made Headlines 51:39 Perp Walks: The Truth Behind the Cameras 01:00:04 Caseloads, Staffing & Cop Burnout 01:09:43 Can a Cop Actually Have a Family Life? 01:14:54 Leaving for the DA's Office & Executive Protection 01:21:50 Inside Trump Trial Security 01:25:12 America's Political Divide From the Inside 01:28:57 Is NYC Still Safe? Finally, we close with our CDL update, as we have some roster changes that have been put into place, and now we get to see them in action after a weekend of qualifier matches. What do you think about some of the confirmed MW4 multiplayer news? Does it get you more or less excited for the game? Do you agree that this is a very important year for COD, and it will be treated that way, or will it fall short like it has the past few years? Will you be preordering the game even though we have no multiplayer gameplay yet, or do you preorder COD every year? Please let us know as we discuss this and much more! After the House voted to direct Donald Trump to end the Iran war, he exploded at the four Republicans who turned against him, terming them “grandstanders” who “should be ashamed of themselves.” This comes as The New York Times reports that extensive internal war games among military officials established that Iran would react to an attack by closing the Strait of Hormuz—which Trump ignored. And incredibly, officials just leaked to The Atlantic that Trump is privately “irritated” by commentary casting his emerging framework as weaker than Barack Obama's 2015 nuclear deal. Trump also wants a way to argue that Iran “accepted terms from him that Obama never managed to extract.” We talked to former National Security Council veteran Emily Horne, author of the Spin Class Substack. We discuss how all those leaks themselves signal Trump's growing weakness, why his demand for a “better” deal than Obama's may be hopeless, and whether that leaves us any way out of this fiasco. I joined Victoria Taft on Adult in the Room to talk through the insanity of the modern news cycle, from CIA document chaos and biological threats to Epstein-themed games showing up where kids can access them, because apparently our culture looked at “protect the children” and decided that was more of a loose suggestion. We also get into why kids do not need internet-connected devices shoved into their hands by schools, how public education trains compliance more than courage, and why California's print-at-home ballot system deserves a lot more scrutiny than it's getting. In other words, a perfectly normal conversation for a civilization pretending everything is fine.Follow Jeff Dornik on Pickax - https://pickax.com/jeffdornikBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-jeff-dornik-show--4788100/support.Follow The Jeff Dornik Show on Apple Podcasts and leave a 5-star review. In week five of the Leaks in Performance series, Marcus tackles one of the most common traps high performers fall into: complexity. Whether it's an overloaded training plan, a packed work schedule, or constantly chasing marginal gains, complexity is often just avoidance in disguise. It protects the ego, delays accountability, and hides the real leaks. The antidote? Simplicity. Marcus breaks down why simple things done well, consistently, beat high-intensity inconsistency every time and why fixing your sleep and food will do more for your performance than any 1% hack ever will. Tune in for a sharp, no-fluff look at stripping back to what actually moves the needle.

3 Cash Flow Leaks Draining Your Profit with Natalia Zacharin Find Rocky Lalvani @ www.ProfitComesFirst.com or email him at rocky@profitcomesfirst.com Make more, work less video: https://youtu.be/ Most business owners think they have a revenue problem when they really have a cash flow problem. In this episode, Rocky Lalvani talks with Natalia Zacharin about the hidden leaks that drain profit, the financial habits that help owners scale with more confidence, and why waiting until payroll gets tight is already too late. If you want better cash flow, stronger profit, and clearer financial decisions, this conversation gives you a practical framework for what to watch and what to fix. Natalia Zacharin built her business from a bookkeeping side gig in 2019 into a 16-person firm that provides accounting, bookkeeping, and fractional CFO services. In this conversation, she shares what happened when she lost a major client, why high profitability gave her room to respond, and how owners can use financial data to make smarter decisions before a problem turns into a crisis. In This Episode: Why cash flow problems often begin long before the bank balance shows it How forecasting helps owners see problems 3, 6, or 9 months early What Natalia learned after losing $250,000 in revenue Why hiring because you are busy can create bigger financial pressure The warning signs of weak pricing and poor payroll capacity How to judge marketing ROI faster and stop wasting money Why founders should usually own sales longer than they want to Key Takeaways: Cash flow problems usually start months before the bank balance makes them obvious. Forecasting helps business owners see trouble coming 3, 6, or even 9 months ahead. If you are too busy to keep up but still cannot afford to hire, you may have a pricing problem. Marketing should be measured by booked calls, sales, and ROI, not vague activity. Founders should usually lead sales longer than they want to, especially before the business reaches roughly $750,000 to $1 million in revenue. Natalia's Money Lesson: Natalia's biggest money lesson is that financials have to be used proactively, not reactively. She explains that strong profit margins, six months of cash reserves, and regular forecasting helped her navigate the loss of $250,000 in revenue without panicking. Her point is clear: if you understand your numbers early, you can spot trends, catch leaks, and make adjustments before you end up borrowing for payroll, missing tax obligations, or making emotional decisions under pressure. Why This Conversation Matters: This conversation matters because it gets to the heart of what many small business owners experience but do not always understand: revenue can grow while profit and cash flow still get weaker. Natalia and Rocky talk about the slow trends that create pressure long before the bank account reveals it, including weak pricing, bad hiring timing, wasted marketing spend, and avoiding the numbers. For owners trying to grow without creating more chaos, this episode is a reminder that financial clarity is not optional. It is the tool that gives you time, options, and control. About Natalia Zacharin: Natalia Zacharin is the founder of Zacharin Consulting and an Inc. 5000 entrepreneur. She helps 7 and 8 figure business owners turn financial data into a forward-facing GPS. Natalia will reveal the silent cash leaks draining your profits, exactly when to make your next hire, and how to build a highly sellable asset.
