Fair Enough City Podcast

Denis tells Roger something about pugs that they probably should have edited out of the podcast. Roger also settles the debate on who was the first person in his secondary school to wear a hooded check shirt. I'll give you a clue. It was Roger. 

Roger joins the show all the way from Japan using superconductor technology only available to professional scientists. Guest appearances by Denis' niece and nephew Noah and Mary who talk about their top 3 toys to bring on a trip. 

Roger pitches his new RTE travel show where he goes on administrative adventures with the head of something in the EU. Denis chats about the time he bought a tribal shirt to win the heart of a girl and how his friends vowed to destroy it. Basically, Lord of the Rings meets the summer holidays of an awkward teenager in a small Cork town.

Now I know the boyos exaggerate SOMETIMES, but Denis really does get electrocuted by his laptop charger about 10 minutes into recording the podcast this week. It actually improved the episode though because it provided Denis with boundless energy and a scorched index finger (also known as a pointer finger). Roger refuses to admit to any cable tampering. 

The weather is hot and so are the topics in this podcast. For example we talk about... am... and then we talk about... am... I can't really remember if I'm being honest. I have to go. Sorry. 

Roger's feeling under the weather from taking too many Solpadeine when he woke up, but being a professional he trudges on and manages to demonstrate his new found skill of ASMRering. Denis contends that the short week following a bank holiday is more enjoyable than the bank holiday preceding it. Roger, drunk on Solpadeine (allegedly), takes Denis' hot take on bank holidays quite badly. Very badly in fact. 

Denis comes up with a family movie that is destined for box office success. We don't want to say too much about it, but some people would call it a family movie and others would call it a straight to dvd horror. We're almost certain Roger says things in this episode too, but we can't remember what they are. 

Roger reveals three solid gold sitcom ideas that he is pitching to RTE - all of which revolve around a local pub and wacky objects coming to life. Denis doesn't really do much in this episode other than say 'yeah' and 'you think so' at the right time. 

Denis spends this episode in a giant vat of antiseptic jelly after being knocked down by a car. They have to cut the episode short so he can be collected by a JCB and brought to the hospital where he will be reassembled by a group of snide robots. Roger's favourite Easter Egg is the Kinder Joy. 

Roger fights against time to collect his dog who has been waiting at Dog's Bazzers to be collected for over two hours. If he doesn't collect her within the hour, she will be given away to the dog's prison in Athlone.  Not one to let a dog take the attention away from him, Denis' right testicle hasn't been feeling itself lately so he brings it to the doctor with a microphone secreted under the skin of his left arm. 

Come sail away with Roger and Denis on their magical road trip to Galway. They discuss what car accident adverts they'd make if they were Gay Byrne and Roger drops the recording equipment at the end and cuts the podcast short by about 20 minutes. 

Fresh from his scintillating victory at the Comedian of the Year competition in the Comedy Cavern in Cork, Denis revels in his new found glory and acceptance as the greatest comedian alive while Roger stews and plots Denis' downfall and assassination.  Shorter than normal, this episode also features a race to the finish so Roger can catch a bus back to his house or forever be trapped in the studio... until tomorrow. Roger oils himself up and enters Newgrange while Denis uncovers the connection between Gabriel Byrne, Glenroe and the Wicklow mountains. They also chat about the dangers of eating cream crackers and Hobnobs while performing any sexual act because they are mature adults.  Eric has found new love in the studio's lovely cleaner, but rumours are abound that they have been having it off in the meeting rooms after dark. 

Roger pays a visit to the National Priest Training Camp in Maynooth where he gets up to all sorts to acquire the descriptions for the episodes.  The boyos also suffer some technical difficulties from the offset and blame Eric's new masseuse business for the whole thing.   

Roger takes drastic action for the new year and officially changes his name to Rovero in attempt to become a more hip and cool podcast presenter. Both of the boys' mothers make fictional appearances at the Cliffs of Moher and, let me tell you, their mothers are not up there for the view.  Denis uncovers an ALLEGED conspiracy by An Garda Siochana to promote the boys in hi-vis jackets in a more positive light through the guise of a random Fair City character that never existed before, and then Denis becomes immediately paranoid that The Force are planting listening devices in his house.  Also they discuss the difference between swearing on the podcast and saying things 'for the laugh' that can land you in jail. 

How did you ring in the new year? Because Roger had a nice party with friends while Denis got punched in the face by his best friend and his car broke down. Hear all about it in this weeks episode plus stories from a stag in Kilkenny, a wedding in Leixlip and some stuff about Fair City.

So there Denis was, having a nice sleep for himself when the doorbell rang, and who was at the door, only a strange drunk man with no shoes on who had trapped himself in the hallway of the apartment block. Find out if Denis called the police or took the man in to raise him as his own son in this weeks' episode This week also features a very cranky, sleep deprived Roger who tells us a story that he immediately regrets sharing. Roger practices coughing directly into the microphone while Denis' genitals are labelled a UNESCO heritage site, but not for the reasons he was hoping. Roger reveals that his mother has stopped listening to the podcast due to its unchristian content and he pushes for eggs to be given the respect they deserve.  Denis is back on the 'deep pans' and also tackles the prickly subject of Roger leaving him to rot at home while Roger went swanning off on a holiday to Munich without him.

Denis mismanages his time horribly and the boys have to record some of the podcast from his Opel Corsa as he drives Roger home. Roger doesn't hold it against him though because he's a good friend.  In between avoiding oncoming cars, Denis and Roger talk about Tintin's Pro-Nazi origins, Snowy the dog and some other stuff that has been lost to the annals of history. Also, Denis didn't make any notes for his episodes which makes Roger lose his mind and results in Roger punishing Denis by whipping him with a cat o' nine tails. I think that last part is true, I can't remember.   

Denis and Roger have an argument about the science behind putting salt on a chicken drumstick and well... I can't write it down here, but it involves a tapeworm... just listen to the episode! The boyos also talk about Werther's Originals, jelly snakes, a fruit gum that cost Denis €1,000 and their differing gag reflexes. In other news, Eric has moved a microwave into the studio adding further fuel to the rumour that he has been kicked out of his house by his wife. Denis also thinks that the podcast has started to influence the storylines in Fair City.

Before they do that, they settle the most heated debated in history... which soup is the best soup? Oxtail or Farmhouse Vegetable. Or maybe sneaky slippery mushroom will take the crown?  Also, Eric the producer is having trouble at home, but they only briefly talk about that because that would be bad form telling everyone that Eric is fighting with his wife because he forgot her birthday for the second year running.

Eric, our new producer, was also very hungover and is never getting invited to another wedding. 

It's official, the Fair Enough City Podcast is under new ownership thanks to the fantastic team at PodCorp Media. Don't worry, Roger and Denis will continue to host the show, but they will be doing so from a brand new studio which comes with a coffee maker and a very nice producer called Eric.  With a new and snappier format, Roger and Denis kick off Season 2 discussing things like the origin of the word balaclava, hormone replacement therapy and nightmares about liquorice. They also talk a little about their new venture with the PodCorp Media team! 

Where do Fair City characters go when they die? We tried to find out by ringing a psychic and contacting the character soul of Kerry Ann who was recently and brutally murdered with a cake tool in her own kitchen. It was seven parts stress and twenty parts bizarre. So if you want to find out if there's an afterlife for TV characters, have a listen to this week's spooky Halloween episode where we contact the dead, talk about Samuel Beckett dropping Andre the Giant to school and the world record for most cans drank in a single setting. I'll give you a clue... it's loads.

The boys visit the Aran Islands'... wikipedia page all the while reminiscing about times when they wanted to die - like the time Denis asked a girl he barely knew to be his girlfriend. Also featuring Roger singing happy birthday to a listener, the mysterious Rotten Island and arguments about germ infested hand driers. Fair City also features. Roger and Denis come close to mental breaking point in this weeks episode, but luckily destroying their friendship by insulting each other for two hours gets them over the finish line. They chat about all sorts of terrible things that they really shouldn't be talking about like eating dogs, auto-fellatio, the trial of Oscar Wilde and the electrical output of kettles. Paul Brennan adds another notch to his bed post by sweeping Jane off her feet in the only way he knows how - by bullying and belittling her in front of others. Classic Pauly B. Still, probably not as bad as the time Tommy was living in Jane's attic without her knowing. Roger and Denis plan a trip to Rory Gallagher's grave, chat about Michael Collins' alleged homosexual relationship with Harry Boland, Roger's haunted phone and Moby - the biggest dildo in the world, standing an impressive three feet tall... and Fair City! Two people are murdered in Fair City this week to celebrate the show's 29th birthday. Keeping with that theme, Roger and Denis chat about life sentences, putting needles in strawberries, cleaning up crime scenes and the time Meatloaf nearly got killed in a community centre in Westmeath. Also, a hungover Denis sniffs out an alleged tin foil conspiracy involving the Catholic Church and their bid to rebrand their image through the use of a christening in Carrigstown. Roger and Denis move into a shipping container to drastically improve the audio of their podcast while drastically disimproving the comfort of actually podcasting. In between talking about Fair City, they chat about the time Denis' neighbour's house fell down a hill, Roger's sacrilegious celebration of Christmas and the 1978 South Lebanon conflict. Also, Denis uncovers a 9/11 conspiracy in Fair City. Episode air dates 9,11,12,13 Sep 2018. 

If Roger and Denis want to make it to the big time, they'll have to clean up their act! So they vow to never swear on the podcast again. In between discussing Fair City and trying not to swear, they chat about Warren Beatty, Val Kilmer, Richard Branson and Roger's Dad. Denis reveals to Roger a surprise and real-life encounter with Carrigstown's most failed businessman, Paul Brennan, that leaves both hosts reeling. The boyos also ring two mobile numbers they saw on Fair City which scares them half to death. Oh and stuff happens on Fair City that they talk about. Roger and Denis spend their last night in Scotland talking about screaming seagulls, graveyards and breastfeeding, but not in that order. This week also sees the boyos discuss the ongoing and extremely dodgy storyline of a teacher student love affair. Thankfully, they handle the prickly subject with maturity and aplomb. Roger and Denis are still at the Edinburgh Fringe Comedy Festival where they are eating clumps of moss and street dirt to stay alive, but that hasn't stopped them from watching another FOUR episodes of Fair City this week.
