Today's episode begins exactly where every respectable radio program should: debating canned chili and whether The Rizzuto Show should abandon broadcasting altogether to open a chili parlor. Because apparently decades of radio experience were merely preparation for serving questionable bowls of meat during a St. Louis summer. The crew gets into a disturbing local story involving two kittens rescued after being thrown from a moving vehicle, which launches a conversation about animal cruelty, punishment, and why there have been so many bizarre animal-abuse cases around the St. Louis area. Thankfully, the kittens are recovering, because this show has enough emotional damage without adding more. Then we head to the amusement park formerly known as Six Flags, talk about its new Mid America Adventure identity, and immediately start remembering the various roller coasters that have spent decades attempting to rearrange our internal organs. That leads us to California's X2 coaster and reports of riders suffering terrifying medical emergencies. Naturally, half the room hears “brain hemorrhage” and responds like someone just announced a new thrill ride they absolutely have to try.Rafe also gives us an update from the dating world, including his Texas connection and the increasingly complicated rules surrounding modern romance. That turns into the question every hopeless romantic eventually has to answer: is a grand gesture thoughtful… or are you about three seconds away from appearing in somebody's “THIS GUY IS A CREEP” TikTok?A guy goes on two dates with a woman, finds her address without asking, and sends her Mother's Day flowers supposedly from her dog. Sweet? Creepy? Thirsty? The Rizz Show Supreme Court is now in session, and absolutely nobody involved has passed the bar.Apparently this question is complicated enough to involve law enforcement, surveillance footage, social media, and an actual public search for the guy who picked up the cash. Suddenly our daily comedy podcast has become CSI: Walmart, where the suspect is armed with three ten-dollar bills and an extremely debatable interpretation of “finders keepers.”We also get into air-travel nightmares after a pilot suffers a medical emergency during a flight and still manages to help get the plane safely on the ground. Meanwhile, Moon is preparing to fly, which is exactly the kind of story you want to hear immediately before heading to an airport. The episode's namesake saga involves Yolanda Jackson, a drive-through order, a dangerously hot pot pie, severe burns, permanent scarring, and the resulting courtroom battle. Nothing says daily comedy quite like discovering your food apparently requires protective equipment. It's another episode filled with St. Louis stories, weird news, dating disasters, food catastrophes, questionable financial ethics, amusement-park trauma, and the kind of conversations that start somewhere reasonable before wandering directly into the woods.Dust off that giant binder of scratched CDs you definitely didn't throw away because apparently funny podcast history has come full circle: physical media is making a comeback. The show kicks off with the surprising resurgence of CDs, with sales jumping while vinyl growth slows down. Why? Turns out paying nearly $40 for a new record eventually makes people reconsider the humble compact disc. Gen Z is getting into CDs, independent record stores are stocking more of them, older cars still have CD players, and there's something comforting about owning music that can't suddenly disappear from a streaming service. Moon also realizes those boxes of old band CDs might not be useless relics after all. Congratulations to everyone who refused to clean out their basement. Your moment has arrived. Then Crap on Celebrities takes us directly into the wildly expensive world of Hollywood memorabilia. A screen-matched mosquito-in-amber prop from the original Jurassic Park sells for more than $400,000, while Christopher Reeve's Superman gear and John Travolta's famous Saturday Night Fever suit also bring ridiculous money at auction. The crew also gets into entertainment news, including the changing timeline between theatrical releases and streaming, Toy Story 5, a live-action Scooby-Doo prequel, and Ghost taking a hiatus after Tobias Forge admits he doesn't currently have a clear vision for the band's next album. We salute a man willing to say, “I don't know what the next thing is yet,” instead of releasing twelve remixes and a commemorative popcorn bucket. Then there's Grand Theft Auto. The latest massive GTA preview sends the room into gamer mode as the crew talks about the gigantic map, Jason and Lucia's evolving relationship, smarter cops, surveillance cameras, changing disguises, massive police chases and an enormous story that could consume roughly 80 hours of your life.Chris Novoselic. Danny Carey. Mick Fleetwood. Buckethead. Joey Ramone. Billy Corgan. Angus Young. Prince. Glenn Danzig. Stevie Nicks. The measurements are flying, everyone suddenly seems either seven feet tall or legally eligible for a booster seat, and we discover once again that stage presence apparently adds about eight inches.Carefully constructed journeys through comedy, culture, and the human condition. This one starts with an eagle call, gets yelled at by an offended listener, drinks imaginary Malört, sends Riz back to college, remembers the horrors of Rotten.com, and eventually makes everybody emotional over Dolly Parton. So… basically the same thing. The Rizzuto Show kicks off with Team JB and the Zero Prostate Cancer Run and Walk in memory of our buddy Jeff Burton, plus Greek Fire getting ready for a show benefiting Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital. Then we get into one of radio's oldest traditions: somebody getting mad enough at the show to contact the bosses. This time, a listener wasn't thrilled about the proximity of the Porno Birthday to a children's charity announcement. Riz got the dreaded “Can I see you before you leave?” message, and suddenly we're debating whether everybody is too easily offended, whether people need to watch what they say, and whether society could possibly locate that mythical middle ground where empathy and a sense of humor coexist.Rafe brings the comedian's perspective to the argument, including the audience member who loves 99 jokes but desperately needs to inform you about the one they didn't like. Our solution remains remarkably simple: maybe leave that joke at the club and take the other ones home.We discover that Malört has somehow created an entire identity around tasting terrible. Most companies try to convince customers their product is delicious. Malört basically dares you to survive it. The gang dives into its hilariously hostile marketing, its reputation as Chicago's favorite way to punish a friend, and the important question nobody has apparently answered: Is anyone ordering this stuff because they actually enjoy it?From there, we say farewell to Sam Rizzuto's dream of college independence after Riz tours the University of Arkansas and realizes he might want the full college experience himself. Suddenly we're imagining a Back to School scenario where father and son become Razorbacks together, share a dorm, take Intro to Communications, and graduate in the same class. Nothing weird about that whatsoever, Sam. Your new roommate just happens to be Dad.The real RIPs begin with tributes to Peter Cullen and Tim Curry, celebrating two remarkable careers and the voices, characters, movies, and performances they left behind. Finally, Rafe delivers a deeply personal tribute to Dolly Parton. It's funny, sincere, personal, and probably more emotionally responsible than anything surrounding the previous discussion of Malört.Follow The Rizzuto Show → linktr.ee/rizzshow for more from your favorite daily comedy show.Connect with The Rizzuto Show Comedy Podcast online → 1057thepoint.com/RizzShow.Hear The Rizz Show daily on the radio at 105.7 The Point | Hubbard Radio in St. Louis, MO.Two kittens recovering after being thrown from vehicle, covered in what shelter believes was bleachSix Flags St. Louis officially rebrands as Mid America AdventureIntense Six Flags Coaster Closed After Two Riders Suffer Brain Hemorrhages: “It's Got to Stop”Man Finds $30 on the Ground, Then Learns He's Wanted by PoliceDelta flight from LA to Boston lands in Detroit as captain gets sick: "I am the one who is ill"Woman left scarred by burns from Church's Chicken pot pie wins $20,000 in lawsuitMiss Sheri's Cafeteria closing after 54 yearsNever-Ending Pasta Bowl returns to Olive Garden menu at special price for limited timeCouple accused of stealing hundreds of library books to resellBloomington Man, 19, Charged After Applebee's Bomb Threat Over Slow FoodFlorida man caught speeding claimed he was rushing to Buc-ee's bathroomSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

This week, the guys welcome back Dr. John Trent for Part 2 of their conversation, diving deeper into his book and the practical importance of taking an honest look at our own hearts, motives, and choices. Let's be honest—most of us would rather avoid the hard questions. But there is incredible value in slowing down and examining who we are, why we do what we do, and how our choices are impacting the people closest to us. When we're willing to look inward, God can use what He reveals to help us become better husbands, fathers, leaders, and men who make a lasting impact. The goal isn't just to become better for today. It's to build a Christ-centered legacy that impacts those around us for generations to come. Delphine Bryant came to America from Africa in 1998 without even having a place to stay. She worked as a live-in nanny, cleaned houses, worked in a nursing home for $5.75 an hour, picked up shifts at Church's Chicken, braided hair on the weekends, and worked seven days a week. She eventually saved as much as $80,000—then lost the money after opening a beauty supply store without understanding one of the most important rules in business: location. But that loss wasn't the end of her story.Delphine became a nurse, entered real estate, learned how to use cash-out refinancing to acquire additional properties and says that within 14 months, she had made her first $1 million. Today, Delphine has built a real estate portfolio of more than 216 properties, developed hundreds of luxury homes, and created a family operation focused on generational wealth. Her eldest son is a licensed real estate agent and general contractor, her 20-year-old son earned his real estate license at 18 while studying architecture, and her youngest is studying residential construction. In this episode of Inside the Vault, Ash Cash sits down with Delphine and her three sons to unpack the mindset and strategy behind building a family dynasty. They discuss surviving breast cancer and divorce, forgiveness, faith, transitioning from nursing into development, paying $40,000 to learn land subdivision, using assets to pay for liabilities, protecting wealth through LLCs and trusts, teaching children financial discipline, building luxury homes for celebrity and athlete clients, and why Delphine focuses on owning houses instead of chasing a specific net-worth number.Delphine also explains why some of her properties are completely paid off, how she teaches her sons to think about loans and exit strategies, and why knowledge—not just money—is what truly creates generational wealth. This is a BIG one!!! Straight out of Nashville, the one and only Country ICON Dolly Parton joins us on Table Manners. We chatted to Dolly live from Nashville - dressed head to toe in festive gear - back in October 2020, before her beautiful book Storyteller had reached these shores and before we knew she had potentially helped cure covid with her generous donation to help fund a covid vaccine. As well as telling us all about cosying up with Michael Buble on her new christmas record ‘A Holly Dolly Christmas' she talks to us about her upbringing in the mountains, being one of 12 children, her speciality of Chicken and Dumplings, that Glastonbury show and the very first time she heard Whitney Houston sing her song on the radio. This was a total pleasure and a real pinch yourself moment (hence my over talking). Hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed chatting to everyone's favourite storyteller! She explains how The Cut magazine club introduced her to a new creative world, and how a throwaway conversation about the worst possible date location became the starting point for Chicken Shop Date. They discuss the painstaking preparation, performance and editing behind the show's deliberately awkward charm; the instinct that stopped Amelia signing away her intellectual property; and the turning points that took her from student project to interviewing stars including Andrew Garfield, Jennifer Lawrence and Cher.Amelia also talks about Dimz Inc Academy, the initiative she created with Spiral Skills to help young people from underrepresented backgrounds access careers in digital media and production. Drawing on the opportunities she received as a teenager, she explains why practical experience, creative confidence and professional networks can make such a difference - particularly for young people facing barriers to work.Funny, candid and full of creative insight, this is a conversation about ambition, originality and the hard work behind appearing effortlessly cool.Find out more about Dimz Inc Academy hereFull Disclosure is a Global ProductionListen or watch every Friday on Global Player, YouTube or wherever you get your podcasts.

HEALTH NEWS Turmeric Extract CLE Improves Orientation and Attention in Middle-Aged Adults, Study Finds Healthy midlife habits linked to longer dementia-free years Industrial Chicken Farming Is Supercharging the Spread of a Dangerous Foodborne Bacterium How folic acid may protect a baby's developing brain and spinal cord Study: Exercise Prompts Liver Enzyme That May Protect Brain Barrier Turmeric Extract CLE Improves Orientation and Attention in Middle-Aged Adults, Study Finds August 10 2026 (Natural News) A 24-week clinical trial published in Frontiers in Nutrition has found that a non-curcumin turmeric extract known as CLE (curcuma longa extract) improved two cognitive functions – orientation and attention – in healthy adults aged 40 to 69. The study tested 35 cognitive measures and reported statistically significant improvements on only two: awareness of time, place and surroundings (orientation) and the ability to focus and ignore distractions (attention). Alzheimer's disease affects about 5.3 million Americans, making it the leading cause of dementia and the sixth leading cause of death in the U.S. The CLE extract tested in this trial contains different compounds – turmeronols A and B and bisacurone – which have shown anti-inflammatory effects in laboratory models. The trial enrolled 40 participants with subtle cognitive changes still considered within the normal range. They were randomly assigned to take either two CLE capsules daily or a placebo for 24 weeks. Cognitive assessments were administered at baseline, at 12 weeks, and at 24 weeks using standard screening tools and an eye-tracking platform. After six months, participants in the CLE group scored higher on orientation compared with the placebo group, according to both an eye-tracking cognitive test and the Montreal Cognitive Assessment – Japanese version (MoCA-J). The CLE group also demonstrated better attention – the ability to focus and ignore distractions – based on the eye-tracking assessment. Healthy midlife habits linked to longer dementia-free years New York University Langone Health, August 6 2026 (News-Medical) Having normal blood pressure, no diabetes, and not smoking from age 48 to 68, are associated with nearly 13 additional years on average of dementia-free life, a new study shows. Led by NYU Langone Health researchers, the new work also found that, no matter how many risk factors they had, women lived longer without dementia than men, and that white study participants had more dementia-free years than Black participants. The findings argue that people need to actively avert these factors in midlife as a strategy for preserving brain health for more than a decade. The current study looked at 12,409 people with an average age of 56 who were free of dementia. Participants were assessed for three risk factors: high blood pressure, diabetes, and smoking. They were then followed for an average of 26 years. Those who had no risk factors lived without developing dementia nearly 13 years longer than people with the three risk factors (30 years total after the study's start versus 17 years). The team also sought to determine how cardiovascular risk factors in midlife influenced dementia-free survival across demographics. Women with all three risk factors lived an average of 18.1 years from the start of tracking without developing dementia, compared to 16.6 years for male study participants. White participants with all three risk factors lived an average of 19.6 years without developing dementia, compared to 16 years for Black participants. Industrial Chicken Farming Is Supercharging the Spread of a Dangerous Foodborne Bacterium Oxford University, August 10, 2026 (SciTech Daily) Commercial poultry farms now hold billions of chickens, creating a vast habitat where bacteria can move, mix and adapt. An analysis from the Ineos Oxford Institute for Antimicrobial Research at the University of Oxford found that industrial poultry production has increased the movement of Campylobacter more than 100 times, allowing strains once associated with wild birds to circulate widely among farmed chickens. Campylobacter is the world's most common bacterial cause of diarrhea. Treatment is also becoming more difficult as antimicrobial resistance (AMR), the ability of bacteria to withstand drugs intended to kill them, continues to rise. Researchers analyzed nearly 2,800 Campylobacter genomes collected from chickens and wild birds in 30 countries (including the UK and USA) between 1979 and 2024. Their study, published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), indicates that the global growth of chicken production has given different strains more opportunities to spread, exchange genetic material and acquire traits that support survival. Chickens now represent about 70% of all bird biomass on Earth. The findings suggest that enormous, densely packed flocks may function as ecological ‘pathogen sponges,' taking in bacterial strains from different sources and amplifying them. How folic acid may protect a baby's developing brain and spinal cord Hebrew University of Jerusalem, August 11 2026 (Medical Xpress) For more than 30 years, one piece of pregnancy advice has been remarkably consistent: Take folic acid. The reason is clear. Folic acid, or vitamin B9, can lower the risk of neural tube defects, serious birth defects that happen when the early structure that becomes the brain and spinal cord does not close properly. What has been much less clear is how folic acid works. Now, researchers may have found an important part of the answer. In a new study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, scientists discovered that folic acid appears to rely on an enzyme called ALDH1L1. That enzyme helps produce retinoic acid, a powerful developmental signal made from vitamin A. Scientists have long known that folic acid can help prevent many of these defects. But the vitamin seems to be doing more than simply supplying nutrients. The new research suggests that folic acid helps switch on ALDH1L1, a gene that makes the ALDH1L1 enzyme. That enzyme can then help turn a vitamin A-related molecule called retinaldehyde into retinoic acid. Retinoic acid acts like a set of instructions, telling developing cells when to grow, what to become, where to go and when to stop dividing. Study: Exercise Prompts Liver Enzyme That May Protect Brain Barrier University of California at San Francisco, August 10 2026 (Natural News) Researchers at the UC San Francisco Bakar Aging Research Institute have found that exercise prompts the liver to release an enzyme that travels through the bloodstream to the brain and repairs the blood-brain barrier, according to a study published in the journal Cell. The enzyme, called GPLD1, removes a protein called TNAP that accumulates on blood-brain barrier cells over time, the report stated. The findings describe a direct liver-to-brain pathway that partly explains how physical activity protects the brain. The study identified TNAP as a protein that builds up on blood-brain barrier cells over time, according to the researchers. GPLD1 acts to remove TNAP, restoring the barrier's ability to admit nutrients and oxygen while blocking toxins, pathogens, and inflammatory molecules. The findings suggest that consistent, moderate exercise may trigger GPLD1 release, according to the report. Activities such as walking, cycling, and yoga may support cognitive health through this liver-brain connection, the researchers said.       Discussion about this episode

John's monologue discusses the absurdity of a recent Washington Post scoop revealing that Trump was smuggled out of Turkey in a catering truck to evade an assassination threat. John breaks down the implications of this bizarre operation, where the President left his press corps and staff as decoys aboard Air Force One. Then, John dives into the controversial executive order signed by Trump regarding childhood vaccinations, which suggests separating the MMR vaccine into individual shots. He emphasizes the lack of scientific backing for this recommendation and the potential risks it poses to children's health. He interviews Dr. Mansi Kotwal, a dedicated pediatrician and board member of Healthcare for Action, who provides expert insights into the implications of this order. Together, they debunk myths surrounding vaccines and autism, clarifying that extensive research has shown no causal link between the two. Next, John welcomes the incomparable Margaret Cho, a Grammy and Emmy-nominated actor, comedian, musician, and activist, back to the show. They kick off the conversation with Margaret's new single, Grippy Sock Vacation, a personal reflection on her time in rehab that showcases her unique ability to blend humor with vulnerability. Margaret shares how her experiences in a mental health facility rejuvenated her creative spirit and solidified her love for comedy, challenging the misconception that recovery stifles artistic expression. The discussion then shifts to the pressures women face regarding body image and societal expectations, with Margaret candidly recounting her own struggles and the absurdity of being told she was "too heavy" to play herself on screen. They explore how the entertainment landscape has evolved, addressing the complexities of body shaming across genders and the political implications of conformity. And finally, John welcomes back comedians Rhonda Handsome and Keith Price. The trio tackles the sheer lunacy of political figures spreading falsehoods about public health, all while reminiscing about the miracle of modern medicine that has kept diseases like polio at bay. They also discusses the recent political landscape in Michigan, spotlighting Dr. Abdul El-Sayed as a promising candidate for the Senate and they analyze how the current climate might be shifting towards more progressive candidates who prioritize working-class issues, emphasizing the importance of addressing the needs of everyday Americans over corporate interests.See Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

"If you want to know what life's like when you're not the apex of intelligence, ask a chicken."That's the line that Geoffrey Hinton, the Nobel Prize-winning "Godfather of AI" dropped on Steven Bartlett's podcast. It stopped Cal cold. Along with a lot of other people. One of them was a digital anthropologist and best-selling author named Brian Solis, who's spent decades watching technology unfold. To Solis, Hinton's statement felt in the moment like we had reached The End. But when Cal caught up with Brian a year later, he found that the anthropologist had adapted and made a case for what's possible. It's all in the book he co-wrote with Dave Wright that's titled: Infinite. Cal's conversation with Brian did something he never expected. It made him think about himself, for the first time, as a leader. Stay tuned . . .
