Justin is one of my newer clients. We were just getting some great momentum right before COVID-19 hit. We shot the shit about a lot different things, but there we 2 main over archiving themes. 1st was the rise in the number of the runners in the streets during COVID-19. 2nd was the discussion of how different fitness industry might be after the quarantine. Hope you enjoy us taking shop!
Aaron and I became good friends because we both used go to the same boxing gym. We recently reconnected through Instagram so I thought it’d be cool to talk shop about fitness, boxing, and running. We setup the conservation by discussing about his extensive athletic background starting with gymnastics. How the athlete’s mentality has helped him stay in shape way past competition days. Mostly importantly, Aaron shares with us what others can do to cultivate their own personal athlete’s mindset to get in shape.
Coach Vinny has was one of my main Muay Thai Coaches at Kings MMA. Even after I stopped training there, we’ve kept in touch. We went deep into his humble beginnings of training in his friend/partner-in-crime Steve’s garage all the way to holding 2 different belts in 2 different local promotions. Talked about his days of borrowing all his equipment to fight in smokers along with those who had heavily influenced his journey from local coaches to the big dawgs that we now watch on the big stage. We end with discussion about mittwork styles, hip-hop & Combat, and life mantras that fighting as taught him. Enjoy!
Paul and I connected through another mutual coach friend PJ. It was super cool to meet another Korean boxing trainer because it’s pretty rare in the states. Though he uses boxing a training tool, his mastery is bodybuilding. We go in depth about how he fell in love with weights, what is has done for him mentally and why his training philosophy is to train his clients in such a way they eventually won’t need him anymore. He also made it a point to discuss how important his morning routine is to his overall life success. Enjoy!
Coach Mike I linked up through our mutual client Geeeli. He is a boxing coach out of the renowned Viiino Systems LA out in Cerritos, CA. Then we moved onto training principles of how to teach while still keeping it fun. Why the lady always seem to learn and improve faster than men. And lastly, discussed the future of boxing along his current favorite boxing coaches that get him super pumped!
Eden from GRODEX USA came onto share with us how they are changing the way people are hitting the heavy bag . They just saw a huge gap in what the industry was offering and what the consumers deserved to have. I would say it’s the closest thing to a smart heavy bag. Enjoy!
Dr Jason Park is my current mentor/coach so I was extra excited to have him on the show. There are so many value bombs in this episodes, but here are a few over arching themes: 1) How we could improve so much faster in boxing by looking at it like learning a new language. 2) How cultivate the missing pieces to being a great coach, which are patience/empathy. 3) What it’s like to train pro level fighters in the UFC/MMA like Anderson Silva and what we learn from their training strategies.
