In dieser Episode von „Vier unter Deck“ starten wir gemeinsam in die fünfte Staffel von „Star Trek: Lower Decks“ mit einer eingehenden Analyse der ersten Episode, „Dos Cerritos“. Zusammen mit meinen Co-Moderatoren Daniela, Boris und Tanja beleuchten wir die Dynamik und die Themen dieser spannenden Folge. Schon beim Titel „Dos Cerritos“, der sich charmant auf die spanischen Worte für „zwei Hügelchen“ bezieht, wird deutlich, dass es um die Beziehungen und Konflikte zwischen den Schiffen und ihren Crewmitgliedern geht. Wir beginnen unsere Diskussion mit dem Feedback unserer Hörerinnen und Hörer, das uns wichtige Einblicke gibt. Die Anmerkungen von Kurt zu Bäumlers Freundin zeigen, dass tropische Elemente wie „Girlfriends in Kanada“ nach wie vor relevant sind. Auch Frank bringt uns mit seinen Bedenken zur Wartezeit zwischen den Episoden zum Schmunzeln und wir erkennen, wie sehr wir alle auf die neuen Folgen warten. Damit ist das Fundament gelegt für einen tiefen Austausch über die Handlung der Episode. Eines der hervorgehobenen Themen ist die Begegnung der Crew mit ihren Doppelgängern und die damit verbundenen Konflikte, aber auch die Möglichkeit zur Selbsterkenntnis. Daniela liefert eine beeindruckende Zusammenfassung der Handlung, in der wir sehen, wie Tendi mit Schuldgefühlen kämpft und sich gleichzeitig in einer explorativen Phase mit den blauen Orionern beschäftigt. Diese Interaktionen bieten uns nicht nur eine spannende Erzählung, sondern auch eine Reflexion über moralische Werte und individuelle Entscheidungen. Besonders eindrucksvoll ist der Moment, als die Crew in das alte Schiff beamt und die Entdeckung alter Technologien vor ihnen liegt. Diese nostalgischen Elemente erinnern an vergangene Videospielabenteuer und verstärken die Anziehungskraft von „Lower Decks“. Wir erleben nicht nur humorvolle Anspielungen auf die Star Trek-Geschichte, sondern auch komplexe Charakterentwicklungen, die in der Episode zur Geltung kommen. Die Diskussion über die kindliche Unbeschwertheit und die dynamischen Wechselwirkungen zwischen den Charakteren bringt uns zu den zentralen Konflikten, mit denen Tendi konfrontiert ist. Boris hebt die Bedeutung von Loyalität und persönlichen Werten hervor, während wir feststellen, dass Tendi eine Art Verräterin dargestellt wird, was die Spannungen innerhalb der Crew intensiviert. Die Frage nach Identität und kulturellen Unterschieden wird von jedem von uns betrachtet, was den Austausch noch bunter und facettenreicher macht. Ein großartiger Aspekt der Episode ist die Erkundung des medizinischen Schiffs durch Tendi, die zum Schlüsselelement der gesamten Erzählung wird. Die Zusammenarbeit von Daniela und Arne ermöglicht uns, die Gefahren und Herausforderungen im Kontext von Krieg und Heilung zu diskutieren. So wird das gesundheitliche Wohl nicht nur als Nebenthema, sondern als zentrales Element der Konflikte zwischen den verschiedenen Orion-Gruppen dargestellt. Die Analyse der Interaktion zwischen den grünen und blauen Orionern leitet zu Fragen über Gewalt und Aggression über, wobei die Charaktere herausgefordert werden, alternative Wege zu finden. Gemeinsam reflektieren wir auch die feministische Perspektive, die im Audiokommentar der Macher angesprochen wird. Die Herausforderungen, mit denen Frauen in Führungspositionen konfrontiert sind, finden Parallelen zu den dynamischen Beziehungen innerhalb der Cerritos. Zusammengefasst reflektiert der Podcast nicht nur die Episodenthemen, sondern beleuchtet auch aktuelle gesellschaftliche Fragestellungen, die die Zuhörer auf persönlicher Ebene ansprechen. Der Mix aus Humor und kritischem Denken macht diese Diskussion besonders ansprechend, sowohl für Star Trek-Fans als auch für neue Zuhörer. David Wright and Mark Radulich present their Star Trek Lower Deck Season 5 TV Show Review! The fifth and final season of the American adult animated television series Star Trek: Lower Decks is set in the 24th century and follows the adventures of the low-ranking officers with menial jobs on the starship Cerritos, one of Starfleet's least important starships. The season is produced by CBS Eye Animation Productions in association with Secret Hideout, Important Science, Roddenberry Entertainment, and animation studio Titmouse, with Mike McMahan serving as showrunner and Barry J. Kelly as supervising director.Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noël Wells, and Eugene Cordero voice the lower decks crew members of the Cerritos, with Dawnn Lewis, Jerry O'Connell, Fred Tatasciore, and Gillian Vigman providing voices for the ship's senior officers. A fifth season of Lower Decks was ordered in March 2023. Writing had begun by then and was nearly complete that October, when McMahan said it was possible that this could be the last season of the series. Voice recording was delayed by 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike and mostly took place between November 2023 and February 2024. In April, Paramount+ confirmed that the fifth season would be the last.The season premiered on the streaming service Paramount+ on October 24, 2024, with its first two episodes. The rest of the 10-episode run was released weekly until December 19.Rotten Tomatoes reported 90% approval with an average rating of 8.60/10 based on 10 reviews.
