Is your routine really productive for you? Today, Alex (@AlexHormozi) talks about the question that many people keep asking him: his “Millionaire Morning Routine”. He talks about how this routine should actually be done in reverse, the implications of having this kind of morning routine, and why understanding productivity and leverage is important when creating your own routine. Welcome to The Game Podcast where we talk about how to get more customers, make more profit per customer, and keep them longer, and the many failures and lessons we have learned along the way to $100M in sales. We've got roll-up-your-sleeves kind of hustle with a little bit of cleverness and a lot of heart. Timestamps: (1:16) - The issue is we have to define what “productivity” even means. Instead of thinking of the perfect morning routine, think of the worst morning routine possible, the least effective. (3:08) - The “Millionaire Morning Routine” is heavily generalized. It entails that all millionaires do this routine. Instead, we should be focusing on the fact that you are committed to doing the things you said you'd do. (5:27) - We need to start getting into the thinking process around outcomes because most people spend most of their time doing things. We need to leverage all the opportunities and tasks on our plate and see what degree of leverage they have (7:40) - You order your tasks in order of the leverage that they have. Alex shares an example of this. In short, the act of entrepreneurship is simply consistently making these trades of “What can I buy my time back with?” (10:52) - Things to remember: check if adding certain tasks to your list makes you productive & how much leverage you're getting from that work. You have to do the work rather than avoid it. (14:37) - To be productive first, you wanna maximize your personal amount of time that you're working and make sure that you're working on the right stuff. In the Belong to You Habits Program, our morning routine includes waking with the sun (once we are well rested this becomes easier), setting our mind "right", drinking water before coffee, and moving our bodies. Each habit builds on the other creating a simple, but powerful daily self-care routine. Habit change can be tricky territory. I see so many people relying on outdated and oppressive methods. I hope that you feel inspired to start experimenting with these habits from a place of self-love, not self-improvement - because you are already awesome. Today we are sharing four "Lessons from the Sessions." These are takeaways from recent sessions with our clients that we bet will resonate with you and we hope will help you. We had a client recently turn her cell phone off in order to tighten up her budget--after one session. We have never had a client go that far so quickly and we certainly won't ask you to do that. We do, however, talk about the difference between wants and needs, why she chose to give it up and what some of the potential ramifications are in her life. In another takeaway, we talk about a client who is trying to finish her degree. Her degree that may or may not have an impact on her career. And, by the way, she's currently in a career that she had no intention of being in when she started out. So, the main lesson here is to learn to step back and ask why are you doing what you're doing. There may be outside or past influences in your life that you need to reassess. Listen to hear exactly how we helped her work through this. One of our clients was recently trying to get in the routine of a morning routine. She came up against the obstacle of being tired. We coached her on exactly how to deal with it and achieve her goal! It's a simple question, but it doesn't always have a simple or straightforward answer. For many of us, it's easy to get lost in the intricacies of what each day brings, and have a different answer depending on the day. However, the value that having a clear morning routine that is focused on prayer, taking a moment to breathe, and connecting with loved ones cannot be overstated! Try it yourself -- tomorrow morning, don't pick up your phone immediately after waking up, and instead take a few minutes to make your morning offering in prayer to God. When you're done, have a conversation with someone close to you, and really focus on connecting with them. Finally, when you're ready to begin the rest of your day, take a minute or two and simply breathe deeply -- and just like that, the day is barely underway, and you're already ahead!
