Two friends talk about random shit. We think we're funny so hopefully you do too. The name of the podcast is based upon a movie quote we use way too much.
Got That? The Podcast - Chris & Joe
Don't call it a comeback. Or do. I don't give a shit.
(Barenaked Ladies voice) It's been...a while since Chris and Joe graced your ears but they are back for episode 9 of Got That? The Podcast. And it's a Christmas episode! Sort of. They do talk Christmas movies but before jumping into that they talk everyone's favorite Joker, do some bad impressions and finally have a much needed conversation about a certain burger selling cartoon child. Well...strap in, it's a merry one!
Chris and Joe are back for a special episode. It's Chris' 32nd birthday. They talk a bit about his birthday and bring the tone down when discussing the scariest night of the year. No, not Halloween, the 2020 Presidential Election. They then jump inta a conversation about horror movies including what might be one of the worst movies ever.
Don't you think? Chris and Joe are back with episode 7. In what is hopefully more of a treat than a trick of an episode, the hosts talk corrections, fatherhood and the New York Hockey Rangers before taking a deep dive into some festive treats.
Chris and Joe are back with Episode 6 of Got That? The Podcast. In the episode the guys have a special cameo from Chris' daughter before talking about some Rangers hockey. They then jump into a lengthy discussion on holiday food. They then finish with some recommendations. Also, Joe has created a real bad character.
Chris and Joe are back with episode 5. They talk about the incredibly sad passing of Chadwick Boseman as well as some other random things. They then jump into a discussion about nothing when they do a double header version of overrated/underrated with Seinfeld episodes and characters. They finish the episode with their 4 recommendations.
Chris and Joe are back for episode 4 of Got That? The Podcast. This episode covers a wide array of topics from Batman to stuffed human heads. They also talk some SNL and since it is August 2020 of course they have to mention WAP. Also, welcome to the Alexis Lafreniere era!
Chris and Joe are here for episode 3 of Got That? The Podcast. It is the third episode but technically the first episode recorded with the new name. The guys start with a quick discussion that ranges from Wilfred Brimley to another edition of Chris listens to Joe talk about sports. They then jump into a conversation which frankly neither are qualified to have but they do their best to talk about a difficult subject. They then have a much lighter discussion about fast food items and wrap up the episode with their 4 recommendations. Hopefully the new name sticks.
Chris and Joe are back for what originally was episode 18 of You Should Watch but has since been changed to episode 2 of Got That! The Podcast. It is the second episode of the new format and it seems to be going well. The guys talk Pandemic, the nightmare that is modern politics and the return of sports. They then go into a very well thought out discussion on bakery items. They wrap up the episode with their 4 recommendations. Hey Tim, if you see this, it's episode 18. Get it. 18. I mean it was but now it's episode 2 again.
Chris and Joe are back for what was originally episode 17 of You Should Watch but is now known as the first ever episode of Got That? The Podcast. Without any movies to talk about with the new format your hosts talk about a lost episode, sports returning, Netflix's wide ranging catalog from bibles to porn and the classic USA show Burn Notice. They then finish their talk with their new unnamed segment where they each give a recommendation in four categories: movies, tv, music and the super fun and random category MISC! RIP Scruff.
To all the ladies (and fellas) in the place with style and grace, welcome to Episode 16 of You Should Watch. Chris and Joe finally match the length of the show's original run. Hopefully it will not be another 3 years until Episode 17, but when it does come out it will be a little different. That is just a little tease, you will have to listen to find out it that means. The guys talk about some exciting news for Chris as well as a slew of TV shows that everybody should watch. They then jump into a discussion about 2019's modern take on the "Who Done It?" genre, Knives Out. A mysterious tale about the death of a wealthy author and his less than likable family who fight over his fortune as a special detective tries to figure out how the patriarch met his demise. They follow that with a talk about the violent Korean revenge film, 2010's I Saw The Devil. A bloody story about a man whose wife was brutally murdered by a deranged serial killer and that man's mission to exact the same amount of pain on fear on his wife's murderer. Junior M.A.F.I.A., represent baby bay-bay!
HOT SHIT!!! Get ready because we're going down down baby your street in a Range Rover. Chris and Joe are back for another episode. Before getting into their movies the hosts discuss animated dog cops, fried potatoes, provide a quick lesson in grammar, TV vampires and correct some shit from old episodes. They then jump into a discussion about the Jeremy Renner starring 2002 horror/biopic Dahmer. A look into the life of the Jeffrey Dahmer that shows the notorious serial killer complete his most recent kill while weaving in flashbacks of how he got to his current place in life. Spoiler alert, one of your trusty hosts thinks this is the worst film we ever covered on this podcast. The guys then breakdown 2019's Acadamy Arward winning film Parasite. Directed by Bong Joon-ho, Parasite tells the tale of two South Korean families at two very different levels of society and depicts the struggles that the working class must go through just to survive. Let's just say one of these movies is slightly better than the other. Also, excuse the title, we did not have much to work with this week. Also also, this one was recorded late at night so the guys might not be at their sharpest. Anyway, light it up and take a puff, pass it to me now.
Right about now YSW court is in session, judges Chris and Joe presiding. They are back for episode 14 of You Should Watch. Before getting into their movies the guys attempt to break down all the terrible shit that is going on in our world today. Attempt is the key word because at the end of the day they are just another two straight white dudes. There is also some talk about 18th century food and the bullshit that is The West Wing. They then discuss 2019's The Last Black Man In San Francisco. A semi-autobiographical tale about the friendship between two young black men from San Francisco, the world that they live in and a quest to recapture something from their pasts. The episode then switches to a talk about 2013's horror film The Conjuring. The based on true events story of a haunting in a rural Rhode Island farm house and the infamous investigators who try to eradicate the spirits and help a family in crisis. FTP! Listen to black voices. Learn about their experiences. Empathize with their pain. BLACK LIVES MATTER!!
What's our motherfuckin' names? No, not Ellie. It's Chris and Joe and we are back for another episode. Before getting into their movies the guys have a sound effect filled conversation that ranges from current events to potato chips. They first discuss the 2019 Robert Eggers helmed film The Lighthouse. A black and white psychologic horror drama about two men manning a lighthouse while trying to keep their sanity as they are stationed on a remote New England island. They then jumped into a discussion about the 2019 Fyre Festival docs, Netflix's Fyre and Hulu's Fyre Fraud. Both tell the crazy mind numbing story about the world's best music festival that never happened. Hope you like it, cause We're Real! MURDAHHHHH!!!!
Heads up! Heads up! Here's another one! Chris and Joe are back for episode 12. It's a supersize episode, the longest one yet. Before getting into this week's movies the hosts give an update on the pandemic, discuss landscaping hazards and detail the weather in Los Angeles on May 20th, 2020. They first talk about the 2017 Safdie Brothers directed film Good Time. Robert Pattinson stars as a man who turns to bank robbery to create a better life for him and his brother. Unfortunately everything seems to go bad and get worse by the minute. They then turn the discussion to the 1989's horror franchise film, Friday The 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan. In this, the eighth installment of the series, Jason is resurrected and turns his murderous sights on a high school graduation cruise to the Big Apple. If Jason can make it there, he can make it anywhere. Spoiler alert, he can't. After the guys get through their movies the show rambles a bit and goes places as they announce the movies they will discuss next week. This is a long one, probably too long but hopefully not. Get back motherfucker! You don't know me like that!
Stop. Drop. Shut 'em down open up shop. Oh no that's how Chris and Joe roll as they are back for episode 11 of You Should Watch. Before getting into their assigned viewings, Chris and Joe talk a little current events, correct and discuss omissions from previous episodes and have a mostly one sided deep dive into A League Of Their Own. The first film up is 2013's Blue Ruin. From director, Jeremy Saulnier (Green Room), Blue Ruin is the story of one man's ill equipped quest for revenge. After the 1993 murder of his parents, Dwight learns that their killer is set to be released from prison and decides to set off and seek redemption by killing the man responsible for ruining his life. Your hosts then switch gears and discuss the first two episodes of FX's The People vs. OJ Simpson. The show is Ryan Murphy's over the top retelling of the events surrounding the murders of Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman and the media circus that was the OJ Simpson murder trial. Episode 1, titled "From the Ashes of Tragedy", covers the murders that shocked a nation and the emergence of OJ Simpson as the prime suspect. Episode 2, titled "The Run of His Life" depicts the most infamous car chase in American history and details how the world stopped in order for everyone to watch a white Ford Bronco slowly speeding down open highways. Talk is cheap mother fucker.
Hope you ready for the next episode, heyyyeyyy....because it was a lot quicker than 3 years this time as Chris and Joe are back for a minor milestone. Episode 10!! Double Digits!! In this episode they discuss the 2017 slice of real life drama, The Florida Project. The film, which earned an oscar nomination for Willem Dafoe as motel manager Bobby, centers around the lives of the residents and employees of a motel that stands in the shadows of the Happiest Place on Earth. The main focus of the film is set on a 6 year girl named Monee who lives at the motel with young mother Hailey. The guys then jump into a talk about the 1997 David Lynch directed film, Lost Highway. Starring Bill Pulman and Patricia Arquette, Lost Highway is a twisted tale of sex and murder. The film begins with the story of a jazz musician who is worried that his wife is no longer being faithful and in true Lynchian fashion, morphs itself into the journey of a 24 year old mechanic who is seduced by the girlfriend of a dangerous and powerful man. Are these two separate tales? Is it really the same story? Is one or both a dream? Are there parallel universes at play? We really don't know. Do you? Can you tell us? Please. We would like to know..........Smoke weed everyday!
Guess who's back. Back again. No, not Shady. There is nothing slim about these guys. Chris and Joe are back for their first new episode of You Should Watch in over 3 years. In this episode the guys discuss Oliver Stone's ultra violent overly stylistic Natural Born Killers. They then jump into a discussion on the recent Kevin Smith podcast joke turned movie Yoga Hosers. Stay tuned to the end to find out which movies the guys will watch for episode 10 which hopefully be out sooner than 3 years. Obie Trice, real name no gimmicks. P.S. Check out Chris other podcast Filmed Obscura. https://www.buzzsprout.com/725508
In this episode Chris and Joe look at Jackie Brown. In Tarantino's follow up to his commercial breakout Pulp Fiction, he brings the worlds of 70's blaxploitation and Elmore Leonard together for a tale of guns, money and double crosses. They then take a swipe at their second tv show on the podcast by discussing the first 2 episodes of David Lynch's way ahead of it's time dark comedy....no, drama...no, murder mystery... no, complete mind fuck, Twin Peaks
In the episode your hosts discuss the 90's David Fincher thriller The Game starring Michael Douglas. They then jump into the wacky exploits of two former Presidents, Jack Lemmon and James Garner, as they are on the run from would be assassins in the 90's comedy My Fellow Americans.
In this episode Chris and Joe discuss the somewhat Halloween anthology film Trick 'r Treat and attempt to not ruin any pumpkins. They then chat about the Martin McDonagh directed, Colin Farrell starring dark comedy In Bruges.
In the episode the boys talk about the 80's kung-fu cult classic The Last Dragon. SHO'NUFF! Then they dive into the first TV show to be discussed on the podcast, Treme. David Simon's follow up to The Wire and a love letter to the city of New Orleans as it battles to live on in a post Katrina world. Don't worry Chris did not have to watch the whole show, just the first episode which clocks in around an hour and a half.
In this episode Chris and Joe discuss Blues Brothers and Hot Shots Part Duex
It's a doc episode! In this episode Chris and Joe do not discuss the Russell Crowe film Gladiator but instead The Last Gladiator, the documentary about the 80's NHL player Chris "Knuckles" Nilan. In the second half the two hosts discuss "Room 237” the conspiracy filled documentary about the secrets contained in Stanley Kubrick's "The Shining". Going in Joe had never seen The Shining so technically he had to watch two movies for this episode.
In the first ever episode Chris and Joe discuss the horror film A Serbian Film (which no one should watch) and the 90's Samuel Jackson vehicle Shaft.
