At Coachella, Circle Jerks' frontman Keith Morris called for an “army of Luigis,” while folk singer Jesse Welles is selling out venues with his Luigi-inspired song “United Healthcare.” Nancy and Sarah talk about anti-heroes, the politics of protest music, the catharsis of Netflix, and why our culture has a hard-on for murderers. Also discussed:* Would you go to space?* Why wasn't Oprah on that flight?* Nancy's Circle Jerks encounter* Sarah eats two-week old steak. SEASON 2 - EPISODE 136 - Judy Becker - Production Designer In this episode of the Team Deakins Podcast, we speak with production designer Judy Becker (THE BRUTALIST, CAROL, BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN). Judy's love for art and collaboration began at the age of 3 and developed throughout her childhood, and after discovering the theatre department in high school, she found her way into the New York filmmaking scene. Having worked in a number of projects across many different periods of history, Judy shares how she approaches bringing those spaces to life, and we reflect on the fact that absolute accuracy to a period doesn't always look real on the screen. Later, during our discussion of her work on THE BRUTALIST, Judy reflects on the challenges of communicating with a crew whose language is nothing like her own, and she reveals how they fought for scraps of plywood and found (and built) post-war America in Hungary. Judy also shares how she approached designing The Institute—the architectural centerpiece of the film—and she reveals how they used the scale model they built in the actual shoot. We also discuss the differences between working on location and in a stage, and Judy shares the creative attraction to working on producer Ryan Murphy's many television shows. - This episode is sponsored by Aputure

From the early 1970's through 1990, Racine was the site of several brutal homicides, shocking the community and creating fear and panic in its residents.  Helen Sebastian, Eric Hansen, and John Michael Madden were all found murdered within only a few miles of each other, several years apart.  Although the murders were similar, as all were dismembered, were they committed by the same offender? Or was something even more nefarious going on? Does the 1973 murder of Tina Davidson, in the same city, leave any clues to who may have committed such horrible crimes. Scott and Mickey discuss this story, and the brutal legacy of questions left behind.   In the opening banter, 2 current true crime cases in WI are discussed, as well as a quasi-review of Ryan Murphy's 2nd installment of his "Monster" series on Netflix, on the Menendez Brothers.  All here on Episode 52 of Badger Bizarre: "The Racine Dismemberment Murders."   Facebook Twitter Website Email us:  badgerbizarre@outlook.com   Opening Trailer: Ed Gein Sound Byte : "Hard Copy" - Paramount Domestic/CBS Televsion Frank Lloyd Wright and Jeffery Dahmer Sound Byte - WISN 12 News - Milwaukee, WI Jeffery Dahmer Quotes: "Inside Edition"  - King World/CBS Television/CBS Media   Attribution for Music: Trailer: Composer: Adam Phillip Zwirchmayr https://www.pond5.com/ Intro: https://pixabay.com/ Outro: Composer: Viacheslav Sarancha  https://www.pond5.com/     Attribution for logo design: Red Claw Scratch Photo     Sources:  Barrabbas, Frater - Dark Times in the Home Town Kenosha News - Archives Nichols, Mike - FB Video Portage Daily Register - Archives Racine Jurnal Times - Archives Waukesha County Freeman - Archives Websleuths - Helen Sebastian Websleuths - Tina Davidson   Please visit our sponsor: FrameMakers

The very busy actress, Laila Robins, was recently seen in Ryan Murphy's anthology series, American Horror Stories. She also has a recurring role as Colonel Grace Mallory on the hugely popular Amazon series, The Boys.  Laila starred opposite Amanda Seyfried in the Apple+ limited series, The Crowded Room and opposite Joshua Jackson and Alec Baldwin in the Hulu limited series, Dr. Death.  She also recurred memorably as Katarina Rostova on the hit NBC series The Blacklist, and she had a major arc playing Pamela Milton on the final season of AMC's The Walking Dead.  Among, Laila's many film appearances are: Eye in the Sky, Side Effects, Blumenthal, Concussion, The Good Shepherd, An Innocent Man, Welcome Home Roxy Carmichael, True Crime, and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.  You may have also seen her in such TV series as: The Handmaid's Tale, Homeland, Deception, 30 Rock, So Help Me Todd, Bull, Person of Interest, Blue Bloods, Damages, In Treatment, The Sopranos, Law and Order, and the series lead in Gabriel's Fire opposite the late, legendary James Earl Jones. Laila's work on Broadway includes Heartbreak House, the Tony-nominated play Frozen, and The Real Thing, as well as Off-Broadway in: the quartet of Richard Nelson's Apple Family plays. She's also appeared around the U.S. in numerous stage performances in shows such as: The Lady from Dubuque, Antony and Cleopatra, A Midsummer's Night's Dream, Sore Throats, Tiny Alice, Mrs. Klein, The Merchant of Venice, and many productions at The Guthrie in her hometown of St. Paul/Minneapolis, including Hedda Gabler and The Lion in Winter.   Over the years, I've enjoyed quite a few of Laila's on-screen performances in shows of which I'm a big fan, including everything she did in The Walking Dead, Homeland, The Blacklist and The Boys. Laila never hits a false note even when the stories in which she's acting brilliantly defy reality.Of note: Laila also happens to be married to a favorite StoryBeat guest, and someone to whom I owe a great debt of gratitude, the phenomenal actor and singer, Robert Cuccioli, who originated the roles of Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde in the musical I created with Frank Wildhorn, Jekyll & Hyde.
