Jonathan Frakes is a prolific director, producer and actor. He is best known to audiences for his portrayal as ‘Commander William Riker' on “Star Trek: The Next Generation.” Frakes has most recently returned to the Star Trek family by directing episodes of “Star Trek: Discovery", "Star Trek: Picard," and "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" for CBS All Access as well as the new LEVERAGE: REDEMPTION for ELECTRIC ENTERTAINMENT on IMDB TV.   He discovered his love and talent in directing during his seven years starring on “Star Trek: Next Generation” and ended up directing eight episodes of the series and was also invited to direct episodes from the spin-off series “Star Trek: Deep Space Nine” and “Star Trek: Voyager.”   His other directing roles include “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “The Orville,” “Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce,” “Castle,” ”Falling Skies, “Leverage,” ”The Glades,” “Burn Notice,” “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Hit the Floor” among others. In addition, he was a producing director for seasons three and four of the TNT hit show “The Librarians” and directed two movies within the Librarian franchise for TNT: “The Librarian: The Curse of the Judas Chalice” and “The Librarian: Return to King Soloman's Mine.”    The role of ‘Commander William Riker' brought him worldwide fame which led to other acting roles in several television series including “NCIS: Los Angeles,” “Angie Tribeca,” “Hit the Floor,” “Criminal Minds,” and “The Glades.” Frakes will next be seen in the Hallmark movie "A Biltmore Christmas." With a career spanning decades, Wagner has brought his keen eye to storytelling, capturing an array of worlds on camera, from Beauty and the Beast to CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Paul and Roy explore the craft of cinematography and the act of interpreting a narrative through light, shadow and lens. They discuss Wagner's approach to visual language, the evolution of the craft, and what it means to sustain a career in the industry. About Roy H. Wagner Roy is a two-time Emmy Award-winning cinematographer with over 50 years of experience shooting TV series and feature films. Major DP credits include House, CSI, Quantum Leap, Burn Notice, and Ray Donovan. In addition to two Primetime Emmy wins, he also won the ASC Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cinematography for the mini-series Drug Wars. Born in a very small community in the Midwest, Roy had no other contact with his dream of becoming a cinematographer than through the local theatre and the Los Angeles phone directory. He would recall the names of cinematographers as they appeared on their films and call them blindly to talk with them about their work. Many of them were so surprised by this young man's ambition and interest that they took him under their wing, mentoring him. When he arrived in Los Angeles, he spent every moment with them on their sets and in their homes, learning as much about them and their work as he could. Because of this, he was able to meet and befriend many of the greatest cinematographers in Hollywood. His key mentor was Harry Stradling Sr. Through him, he developed friendships with Joseph Ruttenberg, George Folsey, James Wong Howe, Leon Shamroy, Frank Phillips, Leonard South, and many, many others. In the late 1970s, he began a life-long process of interviewing cinematographers on videotape or film. A deep reverence for all that is old Hollywood remains a great part of his life, and the memory of the behind-the-scenes stories told to him as a young man is an important basis for his life and work.

Alec Puro is an American drummer, songwriter and composer. As well as being the drummer for Deadsy, Puro has composed music for numerous television shows and films. Puro is best known for scoring the drama series The Fosters and Black Summer, as well as several films including The Art of Getting By (2011), starring Freddie Highmore,  and Higher Ground, directed by Vera Farmiga. A veteran of the indie film world, he composed the music for the comedy All Nighter, starring Emile Hirsch and J.K. Simmons, and A Happening of Monumental Proportions (2017), Judy Greer's directorial debut. In 1996, Puro formed the rock band Deadsy with longtime friend Elijah Blue Allman and Renn Hawkey.  After their first album was released, the band embarked upon several world tours, opening for bands such as Linkin Park  and Stone Temple Pilots.  During his time with Deadsy, Puro also began composing music for various films and television shows.  Since 2007, Puro's film work has been a regular fixture at some of the world's most integral film festivals, from SXSW to Cannes to the Tribeca Film Festival. Darkness Of Man is a new action noir starring Jean Claude Van Damme as a former Interpol agent haunted by the actions of his past.  Visually striking, Darkness Of Man sees Van Damme give a nuanced turn - and it's once again an indicator that the action icon can deliver good performances alongside bullets and flying kicks. James Cullen Bressack, the director, producer and co-writer of Darkness Of Man is no stranger to working for legendary action heroes, having previously worked with Bruce Willis, Steven Seagal and Mel Gibson. He joins this episode of the podcast, to talk about the making of the neo-noir, working with Jean Claude Van Damme and what it's like directing other iconic action stars. Top 5: 5 - Bosh - Police procedural featuring Titus Welliver, I read the first four books in a row, currently heading on book five of like 35, once I finish another book i'm on. It's amazing. If you could literally pick anyone who captures Bosh, it's Titus Welliver. 4. Brooklyn Nine Nine - I've seen every episode twice, it's outstanding. Jake Peralta and Charles Boyle are hilarious. 3. Highlander from the 1990s, I remember watching it pre knowing about the films it was based on and thought for Canadian content it was great. 2. Celebrity Name Game - Craig Ferguson hosted this guessing game where Celebrities and fans would team up to try and win the fan some money. 1 Law and Order SVU - Easily the best police procedural of all time. Olivia Benson and her team have seen it all. Also shout out to Law and Order Organized Crime where they gave Stabler basically his own show so neither he or Benson can feel overshadowed. X: @E_Freeds IG: @NatteringWithE Brundan Honourable mentions: Oz, Simpsons, Entourage, Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, Ren and Stempy. Top 5: 5 - Sopranos - Dug a lady, but dug the show more, saw one episode and was hooked. Most rewatches of any show I've seen. 4 - Futurama - When it first came out it was excellent. When it went to Adult Swim I was hooked on everything. Had my friends over to watch. Until it was brought back it had the best ending. 3- Letterkenney - Turned on to that during pandemic, blew through it, it's one of the most bingeable shows I've ever watched. Great ending, sad to see it end. Jared Keo as Wayne Shoresy, is fantastic. 2- Law and Order SVU - Watching it for 20 years, loved every episode, every character change, every story ark. Munch the best character, dark and sad but very good watch. 1- The Venture Brothers - My favourite show of all time, ran for 7 seasons 81 episodes, 4 specials, every single one of them was great. Drop subtle hints in the early seasons then pay off in later seasons. Brock Samson phenomenal character. Johnny Quest rip off originally then became it's own show. Present day Zach Morris is trash. Lazy at home show, tons of seasons to watch. Favourite Episode: Jessie addicted to caffeine pills. 4 - Beverley Hills 90210 - Learnt things, great teen drama, storylines, Dylan McKay was my bad boy first crush. 3- American Horror Stories - 2021 series, spin off of American Horror Story, Daphney episode where it's like Alexa but a psycho version. A lot of good freaky horror gore stories. Always famous people, and Kim Kardashian 2- American Horror Story - Twisted episodes, messed up themes, one of my favourite seasons were season 1 murder house, coven, hotel with Lady Gaga, the season where they did 1984, very 80s murder based, season 9 was 1984. I love everything horror and gore. 1- Walking Dead - Religiously hooked from season 1 to season 9 or 10. Ordered in take out just to watch it. Discovered Norman Reedus aka Darryl Dixon.
