37 HOI The nonsense collective - Forced break; how, why, what, apologies, podcast feeds are messy - Word from JennyK This is just a quick note from your host trying hard to take a break. From perfectionism, circumstances, worry, the to do list. Shit always catches up to you. Especially if you're fighting it. Depression and anxiety brought me to a grinding halt but I wanted to give you this. I want to say it's nothing, I'll bounce back fast. Certainly, I hope so, but in the end that puts more pressure on me than I need. So I'll leave it there. Take care. JennyK
Christmas 2017 - Bill and Jen talk crap about Christmas - Well, kind of... In the end, Christmas is just another day, another number in the calendar, and an opportunity to behead turkeys and turn off the radio. Jen and Bill have likes and dislikes and can't resist letting you know what they think about overspending, Christmas obsession in general, a bit about great gifts for the visually impaired, and cardboard boxes. Featuring Hotsauce in my Eggnog Arranged and produced by Bill Babcock with help from Andrea on drums and Anton adding the bass. It's been an interesting year and we're looking forward to an awesome 2018 with more disorganized podcasting, more Imp, more music, and even more conversations about things that may or may not matter. Merry Christmas everyone, be it in joy or misery, it's all good. Until next year. House of Imp - Out. JennyK, Bill, and Imp - Staying away from live turkeys since Christmas.
Kompoz - Favorite collaborations - #1 For December 2017, we picked a couple of great tracks produced by artists from kompoz.com. This is the first of many more episodes featuring some of our favorite creations. There will be more independant music but also books and movies we simply can't not talk about. This Kompoz showcase features two collaborations: "Never Enough" Written by BillOnGuitar a.k.a Bill Barrett with lyrics and vocals by Wire-and-Wood a.k.a Mike Patterson. Musicians: Cory Frey, Grumpy Grump, SirWillyDS12 a.k.a Bill Smith. Lyrics: Never Enough Select textShow Never Enough: Stop, then begin again the professor just killed Gilligan It's the fallout of a contract dispute Cold, how the wind blows Play it close to the vest, everybody knows you'll lose it all if you get too cute I was happy before holding next to nothing now it's never enough (I got a lot but it's never enough) I've come to find what's good is better four times over again and again Try to pretend... keep it all until the end Stop!... before you judge me I put a nickel in the bucket for charity want some more but I know for sure that's it's never enough Wait... Here's something worthwhile I'll rake it in with two hands to make a pile It's a good start but I'm not done yet It's never enough I got a lot but I still want more The kind of things that you buy at the good stores I need the finer things in life, don't you?? I gotta get another BMW I speed by all the people with the normal stuff I got a lot... but it's never enough! "Relapse" Written by Rx. Lyrics and vocals by Fresh727 a.k.a Mika Greiner. Lyrics: Relapse Select textShow Relapse The chemicals are alluring Revving up for relapse Drastic measures All include dispensing Waning patience None of which concerns me You got - I want And it's all worth pursuing I see no sense in all my misbehaving I run to you with seething expectation You are the perfect catalyst in binding Mine - I'll do most anything to make you mine Like your hands are shaking Worthy of relapse Are my senses fading? Into you and all through me Complicating ecstasy Another way - some other find Condescending alibi Another time of finding you The passion magic that you do In all too few it confuses some You know there ain't no other way I see no sense in all my misbehaving I run to you with seething expectation You are the perfect catalyst in binding Mine - I'll do most anything to make you mine Progress halted by medicinal menu Heartache - heart race - hands are made for trembling The desert - distance - and only you I engage Thrashing - controlling - and I can't find this calling Revving up for relapse Revving up for relapse Revving up for relapse Enjoy! Perfectionism, publishing regret, feedback diplomacy. Everything has to be perfect. Right? Introducing Bill, who seem to have all his ducks in a row. Is that so? In this episode Imp is asking for feedback. That could have been a wise move, but it all depends on who you ask. :D For the first and and certainly not the last time, Bill joins me with his thoughts about the perfectionism that he is quite comfortable with and I handle with much more anxiety. We learn a bit about Bill and what he does other than playing guitar, producing and everything else except play bass and sing, in Icarus Machine. This prog-metal band was formed in 2015, consists of JennyK, Jordi Rebas, and Bill. The rest is, at least in our minds, history. A learning experience For me personally, this episode is teaching me things I really could have lived without worrying about. I've learned that I suck and can't keep a sentence going without drifting off into non-thought. The interview part in this episode was a mental struggle and that is despite knowing Bill. My brain freezes and my thoughts scramble. We discarded our first recording. The second one was much better, shorter and slightly more "to the point". But still, two perfectionists working together will always find something wrong and plenty of excuses for a retake. So, a light shift in plan, and the third take.... Well. it gave me, if possible, even more anxiety than the first. We decided to use parts of the third to integrate in the second because there were some good moments captured there. However, that’s not quite what happened in the final editing. What you are hearing is the result of lots of anxiety, even more editing, and a very patient and generous good friend, helping me while aggravating me when saying "You know what you're doing." Arghhhh. so enjoy my venture into stuff that scares me, and Bill's first peek into the confusing world that is podcasting. .... :D Leave a comment on this page or by using the contact link. Bonus - Audio hijack, Logic, screen reader, loopback - A quick how this all works. Podcast creation in House of Imp. It's "Rogue Amoeba", NOT Rogue Amiga" like I say in this episode. lOL. although that would be equaly weird. I will not go bak to edit that. Perfectionism is only allowed to push me so far. :D This is a quik demo of part of how I work this thing. Podcast production, all the sounds I want, skype, etc etc. All while using voiceover - The mac screen reader. It's not a tutorial, just a quick glance at one particular situation. I'm using Audio Hijack 3 and Loopback from Rogue Amoeba with Skype and Apple Logic Pro X. Check those out. I may not recommend Apple Logic for podcasting. I use it mainly for more complicated audio production but I've started to really like Logic so that is how I do it. Again, not recommended for everyone. If this isn't your cup of tea and none of these apps are interesting to you it's okay to skip this one and we'll get back to our next House of Imp episode in November. Welcome to House of Imp - While we wait . In this update episode: I'll let you know what is going on, what will happen in November, and we'll hear something from the not so distant podcast past. "XXX - Expectations" was one of my first productions with Imp. It is a rare clip that Imp doesn't want anyone to hear. It's probably the one where I first realized that I could have fun with this thing. this thing that is now House of Imp - Where normal is odd and weird is a virtue. Delusional creativity allowed. Imp is wondering why I do it; put myself through things I'm afraid of. and wy he someday will have to send me to the asylum. So I'm taking the rest of October off to finish work on the website and to record episodes. Real life stuff is also gnawing at my heals. We will be back on November 1st with a guest and more of Imps own issues revealed. Take care and while we wait: check out House of Imp - Podcast on Facebook.. Here's what, why, and shit I don't know. Imp has the day off for unknown reasons so I'm left to my own thoughts. The transition from Studio Chaotic to House of Imp has started. But that's not what this is about. It is however the reason for missing the audio intro. I simply needed to get something out there. Me, not JennyK, not Imp. And this is what can happen when I'm left to do too much thinking. :) Catch ya next time with updates on the slightly different podcast format and other stuff I can't think of at the moment. Jenny
29 - Creepy fat cop - the dangers of thinking - a time for change Imp is a bit worried. Apparently I think too much and it could kill me. this is a shorter episode for a reason. I am in the process of changing it up. I need a new name, new image, new intro, and a slightly different approach. The content will be more or less the sam. But I've grown tired of the name. "Studio chaotic" is the name of my studio as well as company -when I'm in need of a company name - but it's not a name for a podcast. I don't go into it much here. Just letting you know what's going on. I'll give myself a month to get stuff ready. Next episode, I'll let you know how it goes. But for now; enjoy "Spoilt" by Icarus machine, a rant and some thinking. Are you a patron yet? What's the difference between parasites and adult children living at home? Well, sometimes none that I can see. There are times when and episode is begging me to be recorded, then screaming at me to not be heard. This is one of those. There's too much truth here, and I'm throwing people under the bus. That is not like me. so it was hard to decide. In the end I did a few small revisions and added both my reservations and my stubborn need to say what I need to say. the truth, but only part of it, with a few mean jokes along the way. Those were Imp's idea though. Honest! :D Kids moving back home indefinitely or simply never bothering to grow up to move out in the first place. That is what I'm talking about here. don't get me wrong; helping out ones children is a good thing. It's natural, it's the right thing to do. It's when the power dynamic shifts and the "temporary" becomes "indefinitely" and unreasonable becomes normal and the trap has closed that is the real issue. It's far too common and creates so many problems. It's easy to immediately use the word "millennial" -- The entitled generation. I say it's easy but I don't necessarily agree with it. Generalizing is always dangerous and I try hard not to do that. But the sad truth is that it's the horrible examples that gets showcased. It's not fair because I know it's still a small fraction of children in their twenties and early thirties who appear to be just like described; entitled freeloading young adults thinking the world owes them something, kids taking no responsibility for their own behaviour, individuals who tend to use guilt to blame their parents into giving them what they want so they don't have to work for it. It's not all children. and to be fair, not all parents are saints. Too many kids lack support of any kind from their parents. Sometimes shit happens to kids and it has nothing to do with their parents. But I'm not talking about any of that today. It's a completely different episode, with another personal story. I can only handle so much honesty in one go. :D So that is that. disclaimers and reservations complete. and it is funny. If you feel targeted and offended on behalf of yourself or someone you know, keep in mind that this is my truth. And it was all Imp's idea anyways. Welcome to the clinic - ASMR, let the tingles begin Enjoy. :D Disclaimer: Although I think the idea is cool and there's much fun to be had with ASMR, it turned out to be more difficult than I had thought. Not so much the ASMR aspect of it, but the state of gear in this studio. I didn't really hav the right props for what I wanted to do. so it's a bit of a hack. I used two different types of microphones to create some type of stereo image - Because those are the only two microphones I own - it didn't turn out all that great. Being squished into the vocal booth with those microphones plus all the props I needed, plus me - because that is the only quiet place in the house- didn't make it an easy job. But I learned a shitload of stuff along the way. And really, I am working hard to remove this perfectionism I suffer from so I'm thinking it's a good thing. I went from despair to gleeful silly creativity at each step of this nonsense. So take it for what it is; A fun learning experience and a bit of sick twisted story-telling. :D Note: I would recommend, if you're thinking "what the fuck is ASMR?", to ask Mr. Google. It won't make much sense if you don't really know what this is a parody of. :D Did you check out our patreon page yet? Belief A belief is a thought you keep thinking Abraham Hicks Transcript A belief is a thought you keep thinking. At any time you can choose another thought. And you can make that into a belief. A habit is a belief is a thought you keep thinking. You can change a thought so you can change a belief so you can change a habit. That is in your power. That is in your essential power that is you. You, your spirit, your soul, your god, your faith. Your thoughts. It's all you. And nothing is more important than you. And if you feel... good. You know that it is right. A belief is a thought you keep thinking. A habit is a belief is a thought you keep thinking. Change your thought; change your life. You are, in fact, the centre of the universe. And that is the fact of life. You can live the life you want. You can live your dream. You can be happy. You can be utterly joyful, blissful, happy. If that is your choice. You can be healthy, strong. You can be everything you want. If that is your choice. If that is your joy. If that is your bliss. There's only one catch. You can never go back. You can never even for a second go back to what you think is real. Because it's not, not anymore. What is real is now. Any other reality is irrelevant, is unnecessary. If you bring it forward; that bad thing that happened, that thing that was so real... before; it will be real again. Because by choosing to bring it forward... you choose to live it again. It's your choice. Do you want to live that again? Do you want to keep living the so called real life that you've been living for so long? No. You want to live now. And now changes everything. Because what you are now will be what you are later. You can choose your thoughts. A belief is a thought you keep thinking. You can change your thought. That is in your power. And your power is endless, unlimited... Pure, positive energy.
There is just something strange about October. Windy, rainy, the days are growing darker, and life switch gears. That's what it feels like for me anyways. Here is another somewhat eklectic podcast episode for you. We hear Imp going a bit mad no thanks to yours truly. We hear a new flash fiction piece narrated by Billy a.k.a Sriracha with music by neil a.k.a Rolf from Kompoz.com. I give you the word of the month to ponder and learn something about. "Gaslighting". I'll give you a hint; Gaslighting does not require flatulence and a bic lighter. :D And there is a new song that is not yet finalized. My pumpkin was written by joey a.k.a JoeyAlomar who added bass, guitar and drums along with motivation and encouragement. There's additional guitar by Tony a.k.a StratCas, and the rest is my creation; stuff like even more guitars, piano, sax, lyrics, vocals and production. You will hear the very first sneak preview right here as the collaboration is still private and under highest secrecy. :) There is a reason why I don't add a link to this collaboration as this song will go public in time for Halloween and no sooner. This recording is licensed as all rights reserved. Listen all you want, comment please, and you do have special permission to share this all you want. Spread the weird. :D Let's not forget to wish a fantastic happy birthday Dan Savage who is the coolest sex columnist ever. Let us all wish him lots of cake and a great year! Enjoy this October madness. Just consider it priming for Halloween. 404 Read the story here. My pumkin lyrics By Jenny K Brennan 2014 There's a bird on a branch in a tree in a forest not far from me. It serenades me and I know the type. And there's a man on a chair with a feather in his hair. He says with this we can all fly. He says with this we can all fly forever more. Don't burst my bubble I believe there's a genie in my bottle. A genie in my bottle. Don't tease my pumpkin. I believe there's a fairy and a gnome making babies on my lawn. There's a cat on a shelf with a glassy stare. Watching me watching you. This is what it's saying. There's a place over there where the stars and the sky and the ghosts gather round. For tea on your patio. Once upon a time we all believed. Don't burst my bubble I believe there's a genie in my bottle. A genie in my bottle. Don't tease my pumpkin. I believe there's a fairy and a gnome making babies on my lawn. Glass slippers fit Hans and gretel came home. Trolls are misunderstood Of course it is so. Glass slippers fit Tales are never too tall. heroes will never fall. Of course it is so They're building houses out of shrooms. I'll make you believe This is for real. They're making babies on my lawn don't burst my bubble... Jenny K Brennan Oct 7 2014 Ontario Canada

Transcript Sorry, no transcript today. Finishing this episode is a trance track called "I will find you" Produced and released on Kompoz.com by Airy connections, 404, Ed Silva, and JennyK. Jenny K Brennan March 12 2014 Studio Chaotic - Talking shit - since two thousand and whatever day I invaded your pod catcher.
A network of complications Will I ever learn to know things? I've learned so many bad habits and damaging patterns of thought in my life. Sometimes I think I'm so mart I can top a tar. Wohoo. One thing I've learned is that unlearning happens in small chunks; slowly. Here's my list of things learned during 2013. Now if I can just found the grammar books I lost it someplace. Transcript Edumecated. I learnded good. I do try to learn one new thing every day. It doesn't always happen that way but now I have gathered up the more important lessons from last year 2013. Since this is a new year I'm going to use those lessons to learn other things or avoid mistakes. I have learned that my dog is insane; He has a craving for V8 which is a vegetable juice and I can't open a can without him pawing at me. I have learned that audio terms are stupid. A limiter is used to get a loud mix. When you pull the threshhold down the volume goes up. And what the hell is an expander? I haven't learned that yet. No wonder it's taking me forever to learn. I have learned that there are no good excuses not to finish what you started. I have learned that there are many many many many bad excuses that are almost as valid. I have learned that all gear are not created equal. I have learned that nobody is perfect and It's hard to move back in with your parents. I have learned that too much coffee gives me gut rot and not enough food gives me a headache. I have learned that if I don't do dishes for a few days they pile up. And I've also learned how much I hate doing dishes. I have learned that having a husband that cooks food every day is essential to my survival. I have learned that guitar picks disappear in this studio. If you don't believe me bring all of your picks here and watch them vanish. I have learned that cables will not untangle themselves. Another important thing I've learned is that I do my best work between three and seven in the morning. I have learned that Golden retriever furr is bad for vacuum-cleaners. If you don't believe me you can borrow mine. The dog, not the vacuum-cleaner. I have learned that guitars sure as hell don't tune themselves. Canadian winters suck ass. And spiders live in the corners of this studio. I'm so glad I can't see them. So, what did you learn last year? Jenny K Brennan Jan 12 2014
