In this episode, we discuss our personal experiences with greek life. What was rush week like? What are the differences between fraternities and sororities? Is it cliquey? While greek life may not have been the best fit for us, we are so grateful for the few strong friendships we did make from it. This episode is no shade to the girls who were in our particular sorority, but more so about the system of greek life as a whole. We hope you enjoy this episode, let us know what you want to hear next
In this episode we debrief how our first half marathon of the season went! We talk about the shuttle to get there, Vanessa forgetting her headphones, the course going over 13.1 miles, our favorite signs, the highs and lows, and a little disagreement we had over the bus window (listen until the end for a poll, were we the a$$holes?). In this episode, we ask a man questions you may want to know the answers to. We asked listeners to write in with any questions they had about the male perspective, masculinity, or questions you don't want to ask the guy you're seeing, but that you might want some insight on. Topics range from the taxi cab theory, to makeup and aging. (Our special guest is Emma's boyfriend Aidan!!) We hope you enjoy this silly episode, that is not meant to be taken too seriously. In this episode, we discuss all things breakups. The stages of moving on, how you know when it's time to go, and how every breakup/relationship you have is a part of you and helps to lead you to the person you're supposed to find (corny, we know, but we really do take a positive spin on it at the end). Whether you're newly single, about to go through a breakup, or have been through a breakup in the past, we think there is something for everyone in this episode. We hope you enjoy this weeks girl talk
In this episode, we talk about our journey to being "cool". In our senior year of college, we embarked on a journey of trying new things in an attempt to feel like cooler people. In reality, what actually happened was that we built our confidence and discovered the things that make us, well, us. We tried new hobbies, and adopted a "fake it till you make it" mindset, until we became the people that we are today. The number one lesson from this episode: embrace the feeling of being cringey, and just do it. **Don't miss out on the end for a little chat about Taylor Swift's new album (yes, we are freaking out). In this episode we talk about some of our favorite girly things that will take your galentine's day to the next level. Best rom coms, makeup, snacks, drinks, decor, etc. We argue that galentine's day is even better than valentine's day, because let's face it, a pink and red colored holiday? That's for the girls
In this chatty episode, we open something we like to call complaint corner. If you're wondering what that is, we basically discuss anything that's been bugging us lately (no matter how silly or small) and then chalk it up to nothing being that serious. This is a chatty episode that should be taken lightly, knowing that at the end of the day, none of it really matters!! (But in a good way!!). Some topics include tiktok trends that bug us, how we miss being 22, and how we should bring back dancing when going out. We hope you enjoy!! In this episode we talk about something that everyone knows well, the fear of missing out. We've all been there, but how do we cope with it? Emma and Vanessa share their stories of when they experienced fomo at it's worst, and how they've learned now to instead embrace JOMO (joy of missing out). Some tips include having friends that make you feel secure in your friendship, listening to your gut feeling, and embracing that if you were meant to be somewhere, then you would be there. Special shout out to our dads, who just seem to know how to fix everything. We love you!! If you liked this episode please share, rate, and follow the show!! Examples include how to stay motivated in school, in the gym, training for a race, etc. The tips we share can be applied to all areas of life! We are both long distance runners who have ran multiple half marathons & a marathon together, and we started by running just 1 mile. We talk about fueling, starting small, what we listen to while running, and so much more. We have the perspective of Emma, who has been in a long term relationship for two years, and then there's Vanessa, who has been single for 2 years. Happy anniversary to us both!! In this episode we chat about adult friendships and how they may change as we get older/leave college. People move, we may be at different stages in life, and priorities change. We talk about how to navigate this, and remind you that it's okay if some friendships drift apart as we age and move onto different stages in life. We also go into a gab fest about 1989 (Taylor's Version) at the end for all of our swifties out there! **This episode was recorded on Thursday, 10/26. Since then the Maine shooter has been caught. Our hearts go out to all of the victims and families involved. May we see change soon.
Hello everyone!! The girls are back and we have SO many things to talk about. We're also excited to bring you better quality episodes because your girls are now the proud owners of not one, but two microphones. In this chatty episode we catch you up on what's been going on in our lives, and what's to come. We hope you missed us as much as we missed you!
In this chatty episode the girls talk about what's been going on in life. Emma is halfway through her last semester of in person classes for grad school, and Vanessa is headed into knee surgery tomorrow (wish her luck). We've been hibernating in the winter weather, but we're ready for life to pick back up as summer rolls around. This year is flying by and we're continuing to just roll with the punches because as we know, it's just not that serious.
In this episode we discuss our tips for eating better and well balanced meals in college (whether you're in a dorm or an apartment). We put on emphasis on encouraging you to focus on what you can add to your plate instead of taking away food groups. We hope you walk away from this episode knowing that healthy eating is about balance and that you do not have to be perfect all of the time. 80/20 baby! Digressions include raving about sams club and telling you to delete my fitness pal. Just do it.
In this episode we discuss everything to do with friendships. Healthy ones, not so healthy ones, and why friendship breakups can hurt so badly (sometimes even worse than a relationship breakup). We talk about key factors in a healthy friendship, how to spot toxic ones, and how to move on from them. We appreciate our listeners who requested this topic and we hope that you walk away with some peace of mind knowing that everyone experiences the loss of friendship at one point or another. ps. if you climb rocks pls be our friend pls rate and share the pod
We thought it would be a nice way to end the year by discussing 23 lessons we've learned in our 23 short (but also long) years of life. We both recently celebrated our 23rd birthdays and wanted to share our reflections with you all. We hope you maybe learn something from us, take what resonates with you, and maybe relate to some of the lessons that we may have learned the hard way (and hopefully by us sharing, some of you won't have to learn the hard way). Happy new year, we love you all and hope you enjoy this episode :)
In this episode we discuss all of the ups and downs of our first marathon! 26.2 miles had nothing (and everything) on us. We talk about the course, all of the emotions we went through, and how running for a year has changed us for the better. We hope you enjoy this episode and maybe it'll give you inspiration to run your first race or do something that challenges you :) Special shoutout to everyone who ran with us and our family & friends for coming to support us at the race
"this is about running, and it's not about running" - coach bennett. on todays episode we talk about running and race updates along with what's been keeping vanessa inside (ever heard of something called hand foot + mouth?). this episode is extra exciting because we have a special guest........ aidan salisbury! aidan just ran his first marathon and he is here to tell us all about it. we ask how he trained, how he fueled for the race, how his mindset shifted as he moved through the miles, and more. diversions include vanessa questioning aidan about the start of him and emma's love story, taylor swifts new album coming out, and our upcoming runs.
Today we chat about our short and long term goals for the fall and the end of the year. Fall is a great chance to have a fresh start!! Whether you're starting school, a new job, or just adjusting to the change in season, it is a great chance to set new goals and move forward with a clear mind. Of course, we lead the episode out with a running update :) Let us know what your goals are! Follow our social media: insta: @itsjustnotthatttserious tiktok: @itsjustnotthatttserious Thank you for listening, like + rate the show on spotify!!
We asked our listeners to send in questions about anything and today we are answering them! Topics include health + fitness, transitioning out of school and into the "real world", music, books, etc. We also give a marathon training update! Diversions include a gratitude talk, the many things we miss, + moving updates.
In this episode we chat about food + fitness and how our eating patterns and exercise routines have changed over the years (trigger warning - if hearing talk about dieting/disordered habits is not for you right now, no worries, feel free to skip this episode). We pick up in high school and end with current habits. Subjects include fuel for running, our personal fitness and nutrition advice to anyone struggling, and being kind to your body. Diversions include our temporary long distance friendship (we are a 10 minute drive apart), our new tiktok, and Emma's temporary life off the grid (aka no wifi or microwave).
Today we're chatting about all of the lessons we learned during our undergraduate careers. Most important lesson coming from this episode - if it's not a hell yes it's a HELL NO. Life is too short to do things you don't love. We hope this episode teaches you some lessons a little bit sooner than we learned them, or at least makes you feel a little less alone in whatever you're going through. College is hard, but we're here to try to make it a little better :) Diversions include Emma's new worst run and me spending way too much money on books.
Welcome to our first episode! Today we're talking about our first half marathon, and how we did not take it seriously at all. Get to know us while we chat about our best and worst runs throughout the process, the days leading up to the race, race day, and how it felt when it was over. Shoutouts include Coach Bennett from nike run, our roommates, and the few good men in our lives.
