In this episode of LiberatED, Kerry McDonald talks with Katelynn Stone, founder of EverRoot Academy, a new K-8 hybrid learning community set to launch in August 2026 in Crestview, Florida. After nearly two decades working across public and private education settings—including classrooms, leadership roles, and specialized learning environments—Katelynn is now building her own learner-centered educational model. EverRoot Academy combines virtual and place-based learning, multi-age groupings, community projects, and a flexible learning week designed to meet students where they are. Katelynn shares the challenges and excitement of launching a microschool, from navigating legal and insurance requirements to developing systems and building enrollment. She also discusses how her tutoring business became a bridge to school founding, why relationships are at the heart of educational entrepreneurship, and her long-term vision for creating a globally connected learning community. Whether you're an educator considering entrepreneurship, a parent exploring alternative learning options, or simply curious about the future of education, this conversation offers an inspiring look at what it takes to build something new. *** Sign up for Kerry's free, weekly email newsletter on education trends at edentrepreneur.org. Wer ein Target aus einem Konzern herauslöst, übernimmt mit dem operativen Geschäft auch eine über Jahre gewachsene IT-Landschaft, die sortiert, getrennt und neu aufgestellt werden muss. In this episode, Steve Stevens highlights a fascinating change in how people prioritize their social lives as they age. From the transition in one's twenties where social plans are paramount, to the thirties where rest takes precedence, this shift is both relatable and revealing. Listeners will hear about the average age when sleep becomes a staple in planning, how many plans are typically canceled for more rest, and how honesty in declining invitations is becoming more common.

Biomechanist Katy Bowman and biologist Dr Jeannette Loram explore the fascinating world of vibration: the benefits and costs of impact to the body and the importance of sensing vibration in humans and other animals.Katy and Jeannette discuss how foot impacts during walking may actually form part of the brain's circulatory system. They also unpack the science of vibration plates and whether they are useful for muscle strength, bone health, and balance. The conversation then turns to running, exploring how it generates vibrations through the body's soft tissues, how these vibrations may affect performance, and what runners can do about it. Finally, they share some remarkable examples of vibration sensing in animals and consider how modern lifestyles may limit this sense in humans. The discussion on impact and contact with the ground continues with Mike Dally of Earth Runners®, creators of minimalist earthing sandals. Katy and Mike talk about the aims of minimalist footwear in reducing interference between the foot and the ground, how to adapt to minimalist sandals, and new designs in development, including an easy-to-put-on children's sandal.Enhanced Show Notes and Full Transcript0:00 The barefoot shoe expo debrief3:40 The Dynamic Collective6:40 Introduction to vibrations and waves8:22 Walking vibrations and brain health13:26 Vibrations and bone: building bone and fracture16:04 Soft tissue vibration during running17:45 Vibration plates: how do they work, and are they worth it?25:25 Running revisited33:44 Vibration sensing in animals40:08 Mike Dally from Earth Runners®52:25 Over-engineering health solutions rather than removing interference56:00 Adapting to minimalist sandals58:40 New products coming up: user-friendly children's sandals1:06:45 Listener question on foot pressure issues, sponsored by MovemateBooks, Links and Resources:An Immense World: How Animal Senses Reveal the Hidden Realms Around Us by Ed YongMary Roach books Katy's stylish strappy shoes How Walking Benefits The Brain Tacoma Narrows bridge collapse The Ins, Outs, Ups and Downs of Breast Movement Interview with Dr Libby Hinsley: Hypermobility, Proprioception & Building Up a Bendy Body - Podcast Ep #177Earth Runners® Sandals Connect, Move & Learn:Join Our Newsletter: Movement Colored GlassesFollow Katy on SubstackTry Katy's Virtual Studio Free for 7 days!Made Possible By Our Wonderful Sponsors:Movemate: Active standing boards with smoothly articulating wooden slats. Our Family Freak-Outs series continues to go from strength to strength as we examine Douglas Sirk's Written on the Wind (1956) and Kenneth Lonergan's Manchester by the Sea (2016), a couple of masterpieces of American cinema in radically different modes: Technicolor melodrama and micro-realism. We discuss the curious myth of America in Written on the Wind, as embodied in the Hadley family's tortured relationship with Rock Hudson, and the enormous pressure of trauma on the quotidian surface of Manchester by the Sea, and, of course, the key freak-out moments within the family freak-outs. Round nine was a rollercoaster ride with some of the biggest scores we've seen this year posted and then donuts taken due to late changes to squads. Behind every bride there's a lash appointment & one final inconvenience hanging on by a thread. Bestie, this week our host Kamie is riding solo and we're not gonna lie - she is going THROUGH it. Kamie gets real about bridal stress & the very real crash-outs that come with trying to plan the “perfect” wedding while also trying to preserve your sanity, your patience, and your edges. And of course, she's also diving into your questions like, how to navigate dating multiple people at once, when to listen to an ick vs. when to move past it, how to set boundaries with the bridezilla in your life and what to do when your boyfriend asks you to get a boob job (???). Much to discuss. Follow Kamie @kamiecrawford on TikTok and Relationshit @relationshit on IG for more, besties. This might be the wildest conversation we've ever had. 607 Unc says loyalty is dead, calls out Charleston White, says religion is fake, claims he channels God, and explains why he sleeps on the floor to stay spiritually grounded. He breaks down hearing voices as a child, being sent to a mental institution, and why he believes most people are programmed NPCs. Some of this will make you uncomfortable. Some of this will make you question everything. Some of this you're gonna say is crazy. Either way — you're gonna watch the whole thing. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
THE BANKS ARE PREPARE TO TAKE EVERYTHING! BAIL-INS NOT BAIL-OUTS
On the May 3, 1976 cover of Sports Illustrated, Mike Schmidt was exploding onto the national scene as the Phillies' young power-hitting third baseman. Fresh off tying a major league record with 11 home runs in April — and just weeks after smashing four homers in one game on April 17 — Schmidt was quickly becoming must-watch baseball. In true Past Our Prime fashion, we dove right into that magical spring of '76 when one of the greatest third basemen ever was just starting to flex. We also broke down the classic “Clouts and Outs” article, which perfectly captured Schmidt and Dave Kingman as the ultimate “power whiffers” — guys who could crush the ball a mile but paid for it with mountains of strikeouts. Schmidt was brutally honest with himself about it, while Kingman basically said, “This is who I am — deal with it.” Classic 1970s baseball drama at its finest. Our special guest, Jamie Moyer, brought the episode to life with great stories about facing Schmidt. The man who won 269 career games and pitched brilliantly at age 45 for the 2008 World Series champion Phillies had nothing but respect for Schmidt's longevity, work ethic, and professionalism. Hearing Moyer talk about competing against one of the all-time greats was pure Past Our Prime gold as was when he reflected back on when he took a no-hitter into the 9th innings against... his home town Phillies. We also touched on everything else from that issue — the Kentucky Derby trail, wild NHL playoff violence, Olympic hopefuls, beanball wars, and even the rise of Sportianity in sports. Another fun trip back to the spring of 1976 with plenty of laughs, memories, and great conversation. That's exactly why we do this show! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

In this episode of Mental Man Monday, Izzy Baker returns after a short break to break down several viral moments dominating the internet — and what they reveal about mental health, emotional discipline, relationships, and the way culture responds to controversy. Before diving into the trending conversations, Izzy gives updates on what's next for the PSA: The Mental Health Podcast, including the upcoming rollout of Season 10, the continued development of his new talk show Office Hours with Izzy Baker, and future discussions centered around the growing idea of the quarter-life crisis many young adults are quietly facing today. From there, the episode turns to two cultural conversations currently spreading across social media. First, Izzy reacts to Donald Trump's viral response to new allegations, a moment that sparked heated debate online. Instead of simply reacting politically, Izzy explores the psychological side of accusations, reputation management, emotional regulation, and public perception. The conversation also touches on a deeper spiritual lens — asking how someone should respond when they are accused of something they claim they did not do, and reflecting on how Jesus responded when falsely accused, raising the tension between defending your name and protecting your character. The episode then shifts to another viral moment, in which Megan Thee Stallion allegedly exposed Klay Thompson for cheating, followed by comedian Michael Rapaport's reaction video, which quickly circulated online. Izzy unpacks what situations like this reveal about modern relationships, accountability, public embarrassment, and how social media can instantly turn private conflicts into global entertainment. But the deeper conversation goes beyond celebrity drama. The episode closes with a broader discussion about temptation, lust, discipline, and the reality that unresolved personal struggles don't magically disappear just because someone enters a relationship or marriage. Because sometimes the most important conversations about mental health and personal responsibility begin with the cultural moments everyone is already watching. And the real question becomes: What should men actually do in these situations?Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/p-s-a-the-mental-health-podcast--5520511/support.TrustBuilder Package
