Leah Collins is a financial educator, speaker, and host of the hit financial television show Maxxed Out, currently streaming on HBO Max and Discovery+. Her work focuses on helping people understand how their financial decisions are shaped by real life—relationships, environment, lifestyle, and the moments where money decisions actually happen. She is currently bringing this work to college campuses through interactive financial preparedness programming designed specifically for students. Leah's sessions go beyond traditional financial literacy by incorporating storytelling, fun case studies, and real-life decision-making experiences that allow students to actually see the consequences of their choices in real time. In episode 672 of the Fraternity Foodie Podcast, we find out why Leah chose Texas Tech, how credit cards shaped her relationship with money, what are the biggest mistakes college students are making with money, how financial decisions are shaped by environment and relationships, how things can go wrong financially in Greek Life, what financial system should college students be using, how important financial skills are in someone's career, how college students can build wealth after graduation, one story from her television show "Maxxed Out" that really stands out, and how her programs are different from the traditional financial literacy programs. On this episode of Mad Rush, Trisha interviews creator and consultant Libby Amber Shayo (New York University at Buffalo, BFA in acting). Libby shares how she leveraged camp friendships, Facebook groups, and the Accepted Students Weekend to network and meet people in Greek life before committing to college, including hosting a first-night dorm meetup with dozens of girls. She describes joining a sorority during spring recruitment because of credit requirements, choosing a different chapter than her close roommate, and how not having a car helped her build connections across pledge classes through rides and one-on-one time with older sisters. Libby introduces her concept of the “brotherhood of the sisterhood,” explaining how fraternity friendships became a lasting support system—showing up to her theater performances, forming informal “family” ties, and traveling to major life events like her formal 300-person wedding (including a taco station and sombreros). She also recounts her career pivot during COVID after interviews in talent management/casting were canceled, going viral on TikTok with Jewish-mom comedy, running brand and Jewish organization accounts, launching the Schmuck Boys podcast about Jewish dating and identity, and later working in agencies on major snack and wellness brands before going full-time as a creator. Libby explains her event content creation business model—capturing phone-shot footage and delivering b-roll plus an edited reel quickly (often within 24 hours), choreographing TikTok trends at events, and applying the same approach to her own short, five-month engagement wedding planning and related content. The episode closes with where to find her online (LibbyAmberShay) and Trisha's notes on confidence, connection-building, and pre-ordering her upcoming book, The Rush Bible.

Pastor Amos cautioned against involvement, citing cult-like elements, while Stephanie and Toya offered nuanced personal perspectives. Concerns were also raised about possible Masonic ties to these organizations. Sonja and Pastor Amos addressed issues with text message responses, attributing them to ambiguity or the absence of clear systems, and announced an upcoming Bible study focused on clarity. Pastor Amos reaffirmed the one-hour format for Friday Bible studies and noted a potential unrecorded discussion to follow. Monique shared her struggles with discerning God's will through recurring dreams, sparking a broader conversation about balancing work, calling, and financial sustainability, including suggestions on automating tasks and choosing clients wisely. Are sororities and fraternities simply about friendship, leadership, and philanthropy—or is there more going on beneath the surface? In this deep-dive episode, I explore the little-discussed spiritual and symbolic layers of Greek life, especially how certain traditions align with ancient god and goddess worship, secret society structures, and ritual practices that many Christians may find surprising.I walk through:

In this week's episode of PSA: The Mental Health Podcast, Izzy teams up with special guest Alyce Rose for an unfiltered conversation on race, masculinity, grief, and group identity. This Mental Man Monday deep dive unpacks three trending and controversial stories dominating headlines and timelines alike. First, actor Malik Yoba, best known for his role in Why Did I Get Married, recently stated that he no longer identifies as Black, choosing instead to describe himself as "non-white." Alyce and Izzy explore whether this is a protective move in a racially charged society—or a form of self-denial that could create more confusion than clarity, especially in professional spaces.Next, the duo reacts to Houston rapper Sauce Walka, who was shot in Memphis and quickly returned to social media with upbeat posts, despite his close friend being fatally wounded. Is his behavior a trauma response, a street image tactic, or something more concerning? Izzy draws parallels to past incidents involving other rappers, raising critical questions about how grief and survival are handled publicly. Finally, Jim Jones goes viral for his comments on fraternities, likening them to gang culture. Alyce, who has first-hand Greek experience, pushes back hard. The conversation also reflects on the recent hazing-related death of Southern University student Caleb Wilson and what this says about accountability, tradition, and the mental toll of belonging. This episode is real, thought-provoking, and layered—perfect for listeners navigating identity, cultural pressures, and emotional growth in today's world. The Vice President came of age inside collegiate institutions that have shaped Black, middle-class culture for generations. She says they imprinted deeply upon her as well. Kamala Harris's story is remarkable in numerous ways. If elected president, she'll be the first coming from several life experiences, including one that many Black commentators have noticed: She'd be the first president who's a graduate of an HBCU, and a member of one of the “Divine Nine” Black sororities and fraternities. She called her time at Howard University, and her membership in the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority, an important part of her journey. So what can we learn about the would-be president by looking at those institutions? In this episode, host Kai Wright discusses who the “Divine Nine” are and why they were created with Lawrence Ross, and then chats with historian Dr. Natalie Hopkinson. Political analyst Dr. Christina Greer gives us cultural context on how HBCUs like Howard shaped not only Harris, but a whole generation of Black university students. She talks about the influence of Black Greek life, and the nuanced politics of the 1980s. Every summer we crowdsource a Spotify playlist with our listeners built around a particular theme.
