A podcast to help you become the leader everyone wants to hear. We speak to everyday leaders to discover the keys to a flourishing life and influential legacy.
In this Episode I'm joined by Asbel and Stephanie Montes. They share how their faith and positive attitudes impact every aspect of their lives including leadership and marriage. Asbel began his career in the ambulance industry in 1999. His EMS career includes directing and leading teams that provided revenue cycle consultation to air and ground ambulance agencies, culminating into the position of Managing Partner of Solutions Group Consulting. Over the past 20 years, Asbel has been a member of numerous organizations, including the Healthcare Financial Managers Association (HFMA), the American Ambulance Association (AAA), National EMS Managers Association (NEMSMA), and the National Association of EMTs (NAEMT). Asbel currently serves on the Board of Directors for the American Ambulance Association (AAA) and numerous committees and board positions. More notably, he chairs the AAA Payment Reform Commit- tee as the industry navigates the current healthcare changes and the correlation to the air and ground ambulance industry. He has also testified as an expert witness before federal and state health committees regarding ambulance reimbursement and veteran health initiatives related to emergency medicine. In 2016, Asbel was appointed to the Ambulance Transport Alternatives Task Force for the State of Louisiana by Governor John Bel Edwards. In 2020, Asbel was named to the Air Ambulance and Patient Billing Ad- visory Committee by the Secretary for the United States Department of Transportation. Asbel is a respected thought leader on reimbursement initiatives within the industry and is a requested speaker at many healthcare conferences. Asbel is a contributing author in several EMS magazines and co-authoring the book, Management of Ambulance Services, as published by Prentice Hall in 2014. Stephanie shares wonderful advice for leaders under thirty: -Rome wasn't built overnight so don't try to do everything at once. - Don't overthink it or you will frustrate yourself. - Don't allow anyone to come into your personal space and to blow out the fire that is in your belly. (Your passion/dreams/calling) - Have 1-2 accountability partners/mentors who you can turn to when you're feeling frustrated, and struggling. - Never vent to a person who never has time for you. - Not every opportunity that comes your way is for you. - Know what your purpose is or you will end up doing someone else's purpose.

My conversation with Ronna Russell. The author of "The uncomfortable confessions of a Preacher's daughter." Ronna introduces her story "The Uncomfortable Confessions of a Preacher's Kid is the story of a childhood controlled by the brutal hand of a narcissistic, closeted homosexual. I believed I could leave my upbringing behind and walk away unscathed. I married a closeted homosexual man, in hopes he could keep me safe. As our sex life and bank account dwindled to nothing, fear kept me silent. In the meantime, my father died of AIDs. The pain of his death fractured my biological family, and I clung to my husband and children, creating a cocoon that became a prison. Eventually, I was forced to see my husband's homosexuality and refusal to work, realizations that brought me to the breaking point. I found the courage to be alone, to take care of my children no matter the cost, and the joy of my own sexual freedom. In the process, I fell in love with my own life."
