S8 E10: Making Fitness Part of Your Life w/Fitness Coach Kyle FitzsimonsIn our final episode of Season 8, we speak with Boston-based fitness coach at EverybodyFights and Life Time gym, Kyle Fitzsimons, about how adults can integrate fitness into their life. As a young person, fitness may be built into your schedule and routine, especially for those involved in athletics. However, once that structure goes away, individuals enter adulthood where there is a need to figure out how fitness can become part of one's life in a way that feels fulfilling and can bring social connection. In this thoughtful discussion, we talk with Kyle about how to approach finding one's own version of a fitness routine and community, as there can be a variety of options to choose from and/or to create with others. We also discuss sport psychology and executive function concepts that can be helpful. Kyle is an avid and incredibly seasoned runner (including marathons); however, our discussion connects with individuals across all facets of fitness and fitness classes, whether it be strength training, yoga, cardio, and so on. We discuss the physiological, mental, emotional, and relational benefits of a fitness community, which may be more important than ever given the widespread societal challenges with mental health and social isolation. We are just so grateful for Kyle to join us to bring to life her experiences and wisdom gained throughout her vast experiences not only as an athlete but also as a trainer and fitness coach bringing joy, inspiration, and connection to so many people in the Boston area. Taking one step at a time, despite feeling vulnerable at first, may ultimately lead to life-changing experiences of embracing a fitness community.Summary:The holistic benefits of fitness routinesThe gift of a positive fitness communityThe transition out of structured sports team environmentsExecutive function strategies for motivation and goal achievementWorking through feeling vulnerable around othersThe Reid Connect-Ed Podcast is hosted by Siblings, educational therapist, Alexis Reid, M.A. and licensed psychologist, Dr. Gerald Reid, produced by CyberSound Recording Studios in Boston, MA and original music is written and recorded by Gerald Reid (www.Jerapy.com).*Please note that different practitioners may have different opinions- this is our perspective and is intended to educate you on what may be possible.Streaming everywhere (Spotify, Apple Podcasts, YouTube, etc.)Follow us on Instagram @ReidConnectEdPodcastShow notes & Transcripts: https://reidconnect.com/reid-connect-ed-podcast

Most families head into a Walt Disney World trip with a quiet fear they'll come home heavier, sluggish, and totally off track. In this episode I sit down with Jake Mayes, a fitness and nutrition coach who runs Magical Transformations, to talk about food, fitness, and the mindset that actually works on a Disney vacation. Jake and I cover how to think about eating and movement at the parks without ruining your trip. We dig into the 80/20 rule, why crash diets like 75 Hard before a Disney trip almost always backfire, and how to build a step count gradually so you are ready for 15,000 to 20,000 step park days. Jake shares his favorite clean eating spots at each park, his honest take on what to eat when you actually want to feel good, and the snacks he refuses to give up no matter what. Jake also breaks down which Disney foods sound healthy but really are not, including the truth about vegan and gluten free menu items, and how to handle food allergies at Disney quick service and table service restaurants. We get into specific orders worth trying, from the rotisserie chicken plate at Sunshine Seasons to the grilled salmon at Columbia Harbour House to the chopped salad at Hollywood Brown Derby. We close with a lightning round on Jake's favorite Disney snack he would never give up, his hot take on Joffrey's coffee, the best Disney resort gym he has ever used, and the most underrated high protein order in all of Walt Disney World. Lynette walks through her real-life decision to hire a new fitness coach—and spoiler: it had nothing to do with flashy content, certifications, or perfectly curated sales funnels.Instead, this episode pulls back the curtain on what actually makes high-quality clients say yes. From being quietly sold through months of content (without ever engaging) to having her objections challenged head-on in a sales call, this is a masterclass in buyer psychology for coaches who want better clients—not just more content. We're also getting into the uncomfortable truth: you're probably leaving sales on the table by being too passive, too “nice,” or too focused on information over leadership. If you've ever wondered why your content isn't converting—or why your dream clients are watching but not buying—this episode will connect a lot of dots.If you want clients who are decisive, committed, and ready to be led… this is the behind-the-scenes you didn't know you needed. If you love this episode, don't forget to leave a 5-star rating and a quick review. It's the best way to support the podcast and help us keep bringing you real, honest convos like this one.In this episode, we cover:1) The Moment She Decided to Hire a Coach [0:00 – 3:15] -Why being stuck in a “try → fail → repeat” loop is the real problem. -How accountability (not more discipline) was the missing piece.2) Why Your Dream Clients Are Already Watching You [3:16 – 7:45] -She chose someone she'd been silently following for months (without engaging). -The reminder: your audience is paying attention… even when it doesn't look like it.3) What Actually Made This Coach Stand Out [7:46 – 11:30] -It wasn't credentials—it was energy, authority, and emotional intelligence. -Why “vibes + leadership” beat perfectly educational content every time.4) The DM → Sales Call → Close Process [11:31 – 15:45] -She skipped the funnel entirely and went straight to the DMs. -How simple, direct conversations convert faster than complicated systems.5) The Objection That Almost Lost the Sale [15:46 – 19:30] -Her hesitation around committing to 12 months instead of 4. -Why most buyers think they want short-term results.6) The Exact Moment She Was Sold [19:31 – 22:30] -The coach challenged her thinking instead of accommodating it. -Why leadership (not people-pleasing) is what actually closes high-ticket clients.7) Final Takeaways: What This Means for Your Business [22:31 – END] -You're not competing with everyone—your best clients already chose you. -If you want better buyers, you need to show up like a leader—not just an educator.Connect with Lynette:Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lynettemariehFitness Coaching Business Accelerator: https://fcbaprogram.comThe Wellness CEO Mastermind: https://wcmprogram.com

So how did Coach Joe?Listen to how many personal training seminars he has gone to. Not once did he metion nasm, ace, issa or any textbook certification. So what does it actually take to make $200,000 as a personal trainer? In this episode, we follow Coach Joe Sully (IG: @Coach_Joe_Sully) through a real day in the life of a 6-figure trainer to see exactly how elite coaches operate. From assessments… To programming on the fly… To working with clients who are in pain… To building a network with DPTs and RDs… To confidently charging $100-$150+ per session…There is a massive difference between trainers who read a textbook and pass a multiple choice exam (NASM ACE ISSA)… and trainers who build a real career.Joe breaks down: • His daily schedule • How he assesses new clients • Why networking is everything • How he handles clients with shoulder, low back and knee discomfort • The systems he uses to retain clients • And what separates $25/session trainers from $200K/year coachesIf 90% of trainers quit within the first 12 months, maybe it's time we stop telling people to “just get certified” and instead focus on hands on learning, movement competency and building a professional team. This is what we teach inside the SUF-CPT & SUF-STM at Show Up Fitness in partnership with Life Time Fitness.Want to: • Become confident around clients in pain • Charge 25-50% more per hour • Partner with physical therapists • And build a sustainable career in personal trainingYou have to SHOW UP.Learn more about our seminars and certifications: [Insert Website]Follow Joe: IG: @Coach_Joe_Sully#PersonalTraining #DayInTheLife #SixFigureTrainer #NASM #ShowUpFitness #CPT #LifeTimeFitnessWant to become a SUCCESSFUL personal trainer? Lifting heavier, training to exhaustion, and pushing through pain are often labeled as discipline, yet they are some of the fastest ways to stall progress and get injured. The real problem is misunderstanding how intensity and reps actually drive results over time. In this Fitness Friday episode we get into why pushing past your limits is not discipline, what rep ranges actually drive results, and how fitness is increasingly shaping behavior, consistency, and social connection. Liron Kayvan founded BFLA in 2019. He's a NASM Certified Group Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer, and Transformative Life Coach. Liron has competed in Amateur MMA, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Rugby and has been a Fitness Coach for over 10 years. What's Discussed (00:52) Why mastering bodyweight movements should come before lifting (02:56) How machines allow higher intensity and safety without perfect form (04:36) Why workout intensity matters more than how heavy you lift (06:02) The rep ranges that actually support strength and muscle growth (13:40) How group fitness creates consistency through structure and accountability (15:00) Why fitness spaces are replacing bars as social connection hubs (17:56) How padel and running clubs blend movement, community, and lifestyle (22:07) Why pickleball and other “low-impact” sports carry unexpected injury risk Thank you to our sponsors: Rho Nutrition: Try Rho Nutrition today and experience the difference of Liposomal Technology. Every January starts with big fitness intentions, and it usually ends the same way, routines quietly fall apart once motivation wears off. The real issue is well known: building habits around feelings and calendar dates instead of non-negotiable standards. In this Fitness Friday episode, we break down the New Year fitness cycle with Liron Kayvan and talk about how to approach it in a way that actually sticks. We get into why walking is the most underrated habit in fitness, how non-negotiables put discipline on autopilot, and what truly separates people who stay consistent from those who fall off every January.
