Quirky brought down his Gretsch G2420T for this episode as Carey had a song he wanted to try out with a guitar that had a "Whammy" bar.Moving on from that, the question of which sound was the first ever to be recorded was on Carey's mind and he had a bit of research done.It was captured in Paris by Édouard-Léon Scott de Martinville in the late 1850s, nearly two decades before Thomas Edison's phonograph (1877) and Carey gives some explanation as to how he managed it back in the mid 1800's and how it was recreated by some Audio Archaeologists 150 years later. Back in the 1980s, baseball coverage at The Evening Sun was sacred and Jim Henneman was the sage leader of Baltimore Orioles' coverage and made quite an impression on a teenager who wanted to be a sportswriter. Luke Jones and Nestor discuss the incredible baseball life of "Henny" and all of the old-timer Baltimore sports media legends who kept the stories of Brooks and Frank alive over the years. The post Luke Jones and Nestor discuss life of Jim Henneman and old time Baltimore sportswriters and sages first appeared on Baltimore Positive WNST.
So many of us have been made to feel like we should just be “okay” after cancer—that if we're not constantly “beating it” or “staying strong,” then somehow we're failing. That we should be grateful it was “only” this stage, “only” this treatment. But the truth is, it's not only anything. It's hard, it's relentless, and the weight of having to hold it together for everyone else can be exhausting. And yet, within this shared experience, there is so much strength. Today, we're joined by the wonderful Henny Flynn, a therapeutic coach who helps people navigate change with clarity and compassion. Together, we talk about what it means to really show ourselves kindness—to acknowledge what we've been through, to release the guilt, and to build ourselves back up in a way that feels true. But this episode isn't just a conversation between the two of us. Our community was right there with us, sharing their stories, their struggles, and their moments of realisation. It's honest, emotional, and full of the kind of support that only those who get it can give. So, let's talk about confidence, self-worth, and the power of compassion—not just from others, but from ourselves.Episode Highlights:00:00 Intro06:43 "Embracing Self-Compassion During Hardships"12:42 "It's Okay to Feel 'Not Okay'"18:52 "Unacknowledged Truth"32:27 Unanticipated Menopause Impact40:54 Inner Connection and Self-Awareness45:29 Finding Strength and Self-Compassion50:39 "Empowerment Through Unexpected Connection"Here are all of Henny's wonderful resources for you:My darling girl - these poems are love letters to all the girls & women we have ever been.

What big-picture stuff do we miss out on as we work on our dreams one by one? Today's guest, Laura Hileman, talks about long term dream journaling and how we can use our dream journals to help us review the passing seasons of our lives. She share examples of how she recognized from her dreams that she had cancer long before the doctors diagnosed it. She encourages us to ask our dreams what they are longing for and says she finds it helpful to think of her day and night lives as being all one thing, like the “two” sides of a möbius strip. She then shares some ideas about dreams and spirituality and encourages us to ask what the third grader would say when we find ourselves getting too complicated in our dream analysis. After the break we take a call from Henny from Ontario CA who has a question about active imagination. Laura suggests that we look at Bob Hoss’s Six Magic Questions. We then take a call from Michelle from TN who asks what we are to make of all the weird composite figures that our dreams send us. We end with Laura giving more specific advice about how to record your dreams with an eye toward long term journaling. BIO: Laura has been a dreamworker and spiritual director for 25 years. Trained at the Haden Institute, she's mentored there and at Wisdom Tree Collective, where her dream course launches in September. Through her practice Fire by Night Dreamwork, Laura offers online dream groups, private sessions, and workshops on dream integration and spiritual practice.
