Episode 160 is with Lucious @missesmorningstar, Lawst @elninoperdido, Uter @charles.utero.the3rd, Naku @_ready_to_destroy_, and cohosted with Pen One @con_rails . Lucious and Lawst are two local Twin Cities graffiti writers who've organized an annual BIPOC graffiti jam, they paint mural's around the city strongly focused on native and uplifting community themes, as well as being parents. Naku has been extremely active the last few years and well traveled. Actually while recording this episode he was in the middle of a move. Super solid character and has been on the podcast before. Uter is another well traveled writer as well as being very active. His living is made off selling art. He's got a very different original style and while we recorded he was stopped by a police officer. Lastly Pen one cohost's on this episode and he'll be a permanent fixture for the distant future. He's a graphic designer, graffiti, meme creator, antiquer, and comical guy. A great addition to the podcast. The guests on this episode are all more of a "younger" generation from Pen and I. There's plenty of discussions what that entails. It was very important to us to have an episode that focuses on that, this time around since 159 was more of an AARP one. Thanks for listening. Please repost and share with your friend. Please support our sponsors and let them know you appreciate it. An email, repost, or dm goes a long way. @railyardstudios, @troutartsupply, @spinellispizza_, @spinellisaz. Brick and Metal clothing. Next episode 161 is with Sase, Gamble, Perv, Ouija, and cohost Pen One. Legends Thursday Graffiti Podcast For Writers By Writers

Seimer UTL younger writer really killing it right now. My friend Ernie a retired writer and entrepreneur. (If you'd like to read some more in depth write ups about each guest they're on the IG account.) This episode was a huge struggle for me. I had the beginning stages of covid and it really wore me down. I'm recovered now but I'm still having a tough time getting my energy level back. There won't be a new episode for the month of December while I get back to normal. We will be releasing 3-4 of the old episodes though so watch for that. Thanks to the guests for being on this episode it was a lot of fun and a real good time all things considered. Thanks Josh Sebek for editing out all the coughing and as much of the sound issues with background noise from one of the clients home life situations. Also thanks to Erik for uploading the file and doing all the website stuff in the back ground. Hope you all enjoy the episode. See you in January with a new episode and 4-5 guests. Episode 122 Theory Re-Release

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 27, 2021 138:31

Episode 122 is with Theory from the LT archive. The votes on IG came in and Theory floated to the top. I'm super happy with that. The Theory episode was one of my favorites. He's such an illusive guy and his art adds to that mystery. The things he wanted to talk about were so far out of the typical graffiti interviews. I feel like I'm beating a dead horse, but the bullshit questions and topics are so played out in most graffiti media. I feel like I have to keep pointing it out in hopes that we will all expect more from graffiti media outlets. Theory completely bought into what I was trying to do with this project and talking about non-graffiti shit and more experiences. I firmly believe the struggles and experiences make the writers. Not a good chase story, not what brand of paint you use, not the basic bitch things in graffiti. Enough of the rant. Here's the info on the episode. We still a few LT shirts left 5 smalls, 2 mediums, and 2 larges. They can be ordered on the website. Also please support our sponsors. One of the most mysterious writers you'll ever come across. Some things you'll hear in this conversation you'll probably never hear in another graffiti podcast are attacking a bear (not being attacked, but being the aggressor), naked bike rides, living in seclusion for months on end, and a host of other things. Big huge thank you to Theory's wife and Rove for hooking this episode up. I could go on for days about how interesting this episode is, but it's just better for you to check it out. It's pretty life changing and gives you a whole new respect for Theory. Don't forget to listen to the end part after the close with Ryoe and I. The song's he picked for his intro and close were Willie Thrasher – Wolves Don't Live By The Rules and Hank Williams III – 3 Shades of Black. Legends Thursday Graffiti Podcast For Writers By Writers

Kane from Toronto Canada. @kane.ism Has been writing for a long time and is a king. Lots of history. His IG feed is always popping. Did an episode with us on our cross Canada trip a few years back. His knowledge on cyber security is second to none. You're really want to listen to what he says on that subject. Never Writer and Muralist. @never1959 Has literally traveled all over the world to do his mural painting. There's a Prince mural a few miles from my home in Minneapolis. Super good dude and has been on the podcast before and resides in LA California. His outlook on murals is extremely interesting. It's not enough for him to do a mural. He wants to do the research on the city and neighborhood. Then do a mural that has connections with those roots and the impart can be felt for years. A piece of art that'll be a head turner and will make people have a reaction. Durag LD @d3wrag St Louis native. Has been extremely consistent through the years. Met him in 2003 and the last few years his work has improved greatly. He has taking off like a rocket and it's amazing. He is one of my favorite active writers right now. He's sober and has such an original style. If you follow his feed you'll see how much work he puts in. Has a really great working class approach to graffiti and just grinding it out year and year. Attng3tr @_attn_g3tr is a photographer/documenter from the Detroit area. Makes a magazine called City Limits with graffiti found in Detroit. Very dedicated to the culture and knowledgeable. Also a Bully Breed advocate too. I've known her for years. She's awesome and brings a dedication to documenting that's so important. When DF @when_df_ta from Cincy amazing style writer and tattooer. Worked and apprenticed under Rapes RIP. Life long artist and has been able to make it into a career. He's been on the podcast multiple times. He's a husband and a father. Here are the topics we discussed (these are condensed because of space constraints). Attn gttr If I'm starting up a personal graff library, what's one book I need to buy and why, and do you own it? Never Where is the line and what are people's opinions when it comes to murals getting dissed, ragged, or being left alone? Kane What do we do with our graffiti archives. If you are having issues related to painting you should contact a doctor first and foremost, but hopefully this can help with preventative stuff and just being mindful on protecting yourself from the toxicity of paint. We're also going to try and release the @bigmiles420 episode soon. It has a bunch of good info about the harmful effects of paint. Thanks to everyone who's been supporting the podcast without you we wouldn't be able to upload these older episodes. Thanks to @josh_sebek for edited and remastered it and Erik for uploading it and maintaining the server. “Number 64 is up. Today's episode is a few conversations about the effects of spray paint. We have three guests, a shrink, a writer, and med student. None of them are doctor's and aren't giving medical advice. If you're having or not having issues you should still see a doctor and consult with them first and foremost. With that said sit back and enjoy the episode.
