Trees provide excellent examples of both what to do and what not to do. Do grow as high as you can. Don't get stuck in one place. Change in some capacity is necessary more often than not if you are trying to make things happen. Things to keep in mind: 1. Waiting for time to pass does not mean things will change. 2. Too much change is sometimes the thing that needs to change. 3. Change does not need to be permanent. A recalibration is at times a necessity.
In a world that slaps you around if you let it, there is an antidote called contribution. Opportunity is born through contributing to our surroundings. If you would like to make things happen, I have one word for you, CONTRIBUTE.
In this, the first episode in 10 months, I ironically talk about time. Patience versus action, dialling it up versus dialling it back, urgency and intentionality, all things to consider in deciding how to make our most valuable investment.
If your goal does not have the potential to change your life and influence others, think bigger! Goals can be an effective tool on the road to making things happen, but careful consideration should be taken if you really want to utilize them. Think not just of the end goal, but also of the daily/weekly/monthly habits that need to happen in the process. Listen in to determine your next high performance goal.
Do you ever wonder how in the world you’re supposed to make things happen when you have to work 40 hours every week? It’s time to get into the entrepreneurial mindset and add value to the world, all while maintaining excellence in everything you do. “Excellence is mundane”.
You know those times when you feel like you could take on the world and nothing could ever bring you down? What if you could feel that way all the time? In this episode, 7 different methods to make this happen are discussed. If you don’t feel like you can take on the world, how can you?
In a world with infinite intake of words, we might as well do our part to make sure that the words we say are actually taken seriously. How do you make sure that what you say is not just lost in the mass of voices? Well, first things first, don’t say it if you don’t mean it. The first key in making an impact with your voice is to make sure that your voice is followed by action. Learn how to be a “doer” and avoid being a “talker”. Very important subject to master on the road to making things happen.
What if whatever it is that you’re trying to make happen, happened tomorrow? Are you ready? Don’t wait until you need something to create it, develop it first. In “Act Like It Before You Are It”, the concept of acting as required before required is explored. In order to thrive in a new opportunity, one needs to be properly prepared for it. In this episode, strategies to deal with the inevitable discomforts of life are explored. How do you deal with mental, spiritual, physical and emotional discomfort and stay true to who you are? What can you do to overcome obstacles and keep making things happen? Referenced again is Stephen Covey’s “First Things First” and the idea of the crucial moment between stimulus and response, along with locking in your principles in all circumstances. In addition, the benefits of finding out what gives you momentum are discussed and why it is so important to continue these patterns when things get tough.
This is how my wife and I went from having thousands of dollars owing to becoming homeowners in the span of 6 months. All principles we used came straight from “First Things First” by Stephen Covey, “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill and “Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki. These principles are how we make things happen, financially and elsewhere. Set a goal, stick to it and obsess over making it happen.
In this episode, Cody talks about some of the reasons why it is worth your while to invest your time in reading books and how reading can help make things happen. He also breaks down what kinds of things to look for when choosing a book to read. To conclude, all the books that Cody has read over the last 9 months that he claims to have had a life altering impact are listed. In addition, the most impactful books are highlighted with key concepts being explained as the biggest takeaways. Books mentioned on this episode: Love and Respect (Emerson Eggerichs), Rich Dad Poor Dad (Robert Kiyosaki), The Total Money Makeover (Dave Ramsey), Good to Great (Jim C. Collins), The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (Stephen Covey), The Wealthy Barber (David Chilton), First Things First (Stephen Covey), The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck” (Mark Manson), The Richest Man in Babylon (George S. Clason), How to Sell in Any Economy (Stan Peake, Catherine Brownlee, Lee Cassells), The 4 Hour Work Week (Tim Ferris), Think and Grow Rich (Napoleon Hill), Leaders Eat Last (Simon Sinek), Start With Why (Simon Sinek), Life is Tremendous (Charlie Jones).
