Your wealth plan might be missing its most important asset - you. In this episode of Get Invested, Bushy Martin is joined by Epigenetic Health Strategist Chris Barnes to explore the often overlooked link between high performance, health and financial freedom. Most investors spend their time analysing markets, inspecting properties and chasing returns, yet rarely inspect the engine driving their decisions - their own biology. Through Bushy’s Sustainable Success “Borromean Rings” framework - the integration of Self, Health and Wealth (the 3 ELFs) — this conversation reveals why Self and Health are the sustainability multipliers that protect and extend Wealth. Chris explains how chronic stress quietly undermines judgment, resilience and long-term compounding, why genes may load the gun but lifestyle pulls the trigger, and why high performers need biological awareness as much as bigger goals. If you’re building a 20-year wealth strategy, this episode is a powerful reminder that you can’t build long-term financial freedom on a short-term nervous system. Key insights you’ll hear in this episode: • Sustainable wealth requires sustainable physiology. • Most investors inspect properties - not themselves. • Genes load the gun; lifestyle pulls the trigger. • Chronic stress impacts decision-making, risk tolerance and long-term compounding. • High performers need biological awareness, not just bigger goals. • You can’t build a 20-year wealth plan on a 2-hour nervous system. About Chris Barnes: Chris Barnes is an Epigenetic Health Strategist and Certified Epigenetic Performance Coach who works with high-performing executives, investors and entrepreneurs to bridge the gap between ambition and biology. Having analysed more than 500 genetic reports and spoken at international health conferences, Chris specialises in helping driven professionals optimise performance, reduce chronic stress, and build sustainable longevity through personalised genetic and lifestyle insights. I spent an afternoon at Ramsey Solutions in Tennessee with Jason Williams, Vice President of Sales for the EntreLeadership Division. What stood out wasn’t the size of the operation or the fancy building. It was walking into a room where sales reps genuinely wanted to talk to their leader. Most sales floors feel like number factories. Reps avoid their managers. One-on-ones get rescheduled. And everyone wonders why performance stays flat despite “investing in our people.” Sales leaders say coaching matters. They talk about developing talent. Then they spend their days staring at dashboards and asking why the team isn’t getting better. Real sales coaching looks nothing like what most organizations call coaching. And after watching Jason work, I’m reminded why so few leaders actually get this right. What Sales Coaching Actually Looks Like Jason told me about one of his reps who started missing quota. Here’s what usually happens: Manager pulls up the CRM, points at red pipeline metrics, asks what happened. The conversation goes nowhere. Rep gets defensive, makes excuses, promises to work harder. Nothing changes. Jason took a different approach. He asked about his rep’s life. Turned out he was stressed about buying his first house. That weight was bleeding into his work, affecting his confidence on calls, making him hesitant to push for commitments. So Jason got into the field with him. He listened to calls. He rode along on appointments. He watched where deals were actually stalling. Then they debriefed what he observed. “Here’s what happens when pricing comes up.” “Let’s tighten how you handle that objection.” Zero mention of quota or pipeline metrics. The rep turned it around because someone cared enough to understand what was broken and help him fix it. That’s what coaching looks like. Managers react to outcomes they can’t change. Coaches focus on behaviors that create future outcomes. Why Most Leaders Don’t Coach The biggest barrier isn’t that leaders don’t want to coach. Most genuinely do. The problem is they don’t know what they’re looking for because they never see their reps in action. Think about last week. How many discovery calls did you listen to? How many demos did you observe? How many customer meetings did you attend just to watch your rep work? If the answer is zero, you’re coaching from spreadsheets instead of reality. You’re looking at lag indicators (closed deals, pipeline value, activity counts) and trying to diagnose skill gaps without ever seeing the skills in action. Jason blocks time every week to observe his reps. He's not there to supervise them or take over calls. Just to watch. Then the coaching becomes specific. He can say, “when that prospect brought up budget concerns, you deflected instead of asking questions,” instead of just “you need to handle objections better.” You can’t coach what you don’t see. The second barrier is culture. In typical organizations, admitting weakness feels dangerous. You’re supposed to be confident, crushing it, always having answers. So problems stay hidden until they show up in the numbers. By then, it’s too late to coach. You’re in damage control. Creating an Environment Where Problems Surface Early Jason builds what he calls a “safe space” for his team. When a rep is struggling, he starts the conversation with curiosity instead of judgment. He asks open questions about what they’re experiencing, where they’re getting stuck, what feels hard right now. When reps admit struggles, he treats it as useful information, not a character flaw. A rep says, “I’m nervous on C-suite calls,” and Jason’s response is “okay, let’s work on that,” not “you shouldn’t be nervous.” Then he follows through. If someone admits they’re stuck, he actually helps them. He role-plays the situation. He rides along on the next similar call. He provides tools and frameworks. The rep sees that honesty led to help, not punishment. Over time, reps learn that surfacing problems early gets them solved. Hiding problems just makes things worse. So they start talking about what’s actually happening instead of pretending everything is fine while their numbers slide. The first time someone admits a weakness and you respond with frustration, you train the entire team to stay quiet. Managers say they want transparency. Few consistently reward it. How to Actually Build a Coaching Culture If you want to coach instead of manage, you have to make developing people the primary job. Jason is clear that his main responsibility is making his reps better. Everything else supports that goal. Pipeline reviews and forecasting matter, but they exist to serve sales coaching, not the other way around. Protecting coaching time is non-negotiable. One hour per rep per week, minimum. When conflicts come up, the internal meeting gets moved, not the coaching session. Getting better at coaching matters too. Most of us got promoted because we were individual contributors. Nobody taught us how to develop other people. So we replicate whatever leadership we experienced, which is usually mediocre. Your reps practice selling every day. You should practice coaching. Role-play difficult conversations with your peers. Practice giving feedback. Work on observation skills. Treat coaching like the professional skill it is. And you have to measure what matters. If you only track team revenue, you’ll optimize for short-term numbers at the expense of development. Start measuring coaching conversations. Track whether your reps are improving on specific skills. Monitor how long it takes new hires to ramp. When I walked through Ramsey Solutions that day, I could feel the difference. Reps weren’t avoiding their leader. Retention was better. Performance was compounding over time instead of bouncing around based on whoever happened to be hot that quarter. What Happens Next Look at your calendar from last week. How much time did you spend observing your reps versus reviewing their numbers? How many true coaching conversations did you have versus pipeline reviews? If that ratio doesn't reflect what you say your priorities are, you've found the gap. Your reps don't need another dashboard. They need a leader who sees the work, understands where it's breaking down, and knows how to help them improve. Sales coaching isn't reacting to results. It's shaping the behaviors that create them. The question is whether you're willing to make that your real job. — Ready to build a stronger sales team? A leadership team with top-tier talent, strong strategy, and capital behind it still misses targets. Engagement scores drift. Execution stalls. On paper, nothing is wrong. In reality, the environment is misaligned. That gap between capability and consistent performance is where culture either compounds results or quietly erodes them.Aaron Walsh, Head of Culture, Leadership and Mental Performance at the Rajasthan Royals and former Mental Skills coach with the Chiefs, has spent his career working inside high performance systems where results are unforgiving and scrutiny is constant. Why is culture still treated as a “soft” variable despite overwhelming evidence that it shapes behaviour, decision-making and performance under pressure?1:45 – Defining culture and what happens when reality doesn't match the wall. 9:05 – Aaron's work with the Chiefs and Mike Cron on building a successful culture. 15:45 – Connecting teams to the community and the last 10% performance gains from culture. 19:55 – Michael Gervais, the Seattle Seahawks, and bringing team culture to corporates like IAG. 27:55 – Immediate actions to improve culture and fostering psychological safety for innovation. 33:10 – Leadership, culture, and why your energy impacts corporate performance. 36:50 – Andrew's morning routine and the quality vs quantity time debate. 41:05 – Measuring culture beyond annual check-ins and its impact. 47:15 – Modelling desired behaviours and Aaron's 5-year vision. 54:35 – When systems fail, talent isn't enough and why some teams may not need a mental skills coach. 59:55 – Spotting cultural clues on day one and lessons from sports to corporate mental skills.Listen to the previous episode with Aaron here: https://performanceintelligence.transistor.fm/episodes/143-aaron-walsh Use Code "PQPODCAST10" to get 10% off your Lumo Coffee order:https://lumocoffee.com/ Interested in sharing your story? Life doesn't slow down when you're trying to improve. Schedules get packed, stress rises, sleep drops, and motivation fluctuates. And when that happens, you don't suddenly become more disciplined — you fall back on your habits. In this episode, Andrew breaks down why performance under stress reveals your default behaviors, not your intentions.Goals are important, but they don't protect you when things get hectic. Habits do. The athletes who continue to improve through busy seasons aren't relying on motivation — they've built simple, repeatable routines that hold up under pressure. Sleep consistency, training with intent, managing stress responses, and maintaining basic movement standards become automatic rather than optional. If you want long-term performance, you need habits that survive adversity. This episode will challenge you to examine what your defaults look like when life gets demanding — and how to build routines that support your performance even when conditions aren't perfect. Transitioning into high-performance aircraft is more than a horsepower upgrade. It's a fundamental shift in planning, energy management, and mindset. In this episode of More Right Rudder, host Sarah Staudt is joined by Matt Speare, CFI/CFII (airplane and helicopter), two-time Master Flight Instructor, and President of the Lancair Owners and Builders Organization. Together, they explore the challenges pilots and instructors face when moving from trainer-style aircraft into faster, cleaner, and less forgiving machines. Many modern instructors never encounter high-performance aircraft during their own training. As a result, the first exposure often comes later in a pilot's career, sometimes without the structured transition training these airplanes demand. Speare and Staudt break down why speed changes everything and how being “five miles behind the airplane” can quickly become a safety issue. Whether you're an instructor preparing to teach in high-performance aircraft or a pilot considering your next step up the performance ladder, this episode highlights why standardized training, disciplined planning, and deep aircraft knowledge are critical to safe operations. We revisit our chat with Olympic legend Michael Johnson, a man who has more medals, world records, and gold standards than almost anyone who has ever laced up a pair of spikes. But this conversation isn't really about the glory, it's about everything that happened in the shadows of it.Jake sits down with one of the greatest athletes in history to uncover the mindset that drove him to become the only man to win gold in the 200m and 400m at the same Olympic Games. What emerges is a masterclass in evidence-based belief, brutal self-honesty, and the relentless pursuit of sustained excellence.Michael opens up about the food poisoning that robbed him of his greatest chance at Olympic glory in Barcelona, and the quiet, ruthless logic he used to pull himself back from the brink. He talks about the teammate who admitted to doping and the medal Michael willingly handed back. And he reveals the stroke that paralysed his left side almost entirely, and the remarkable clarity he found in the hospital bed when everyone around him was asking why.Along the way, you'll hear the truth behind his famous upright running style, how he mentally rehearsed a race up to ten times in the twenty minutes before the gun fired, and why the most important question he ever asked himself was simply - why me?This is one of the most candid, no-nonsense conversations in High Performance history! Our partners for this episode: Heights

You've committed to aiming high. You've accepted the hard work.So why does something still feel tense beneath the surface? In this final episode of the series, we uncover the third bottleneck to high performance: fear. Specifically, the three forms that shape how ambitious teens approach college admissions:Loss pain – What might I lose if I go all in?Process pain – What will this journey cost me emotionally?Outcome pain – What if I do everything right and it still isn't enough? You'll learn why attaching your identity to a single admissions decision creates unnecessary pressure — and how shifting your focus from “Where will I get in?” to “Who am I becoming?” removes desperation while making you more competitive. This episode ends with a powerful journaling exercise designed to help you confront fear and move forward with clarity and confidence.-----To register for the Ivy League Challenge, visit our websiteTo follow on Instagram: @TheIvyLeagueChallengeTo join us on our Facebook group for parents

We're revisiting one of the most profound conversations we've ever had on High Performance - a discussion that fundamentally changed the way we think about performance on this show.Jonny Wilkinson is one of rugby's greatest ever players. The drop goal that won England the 2003 Rugby World Cup is etched into sporting history. But behind the perfection, the trophies, and the records, Jonny was fighting a battle most people never saw.In this deeply philosophical and remarkably honest conversation, Jonny reveals the mental health struggles that plagued his career - the games where he could barely leave his hotel room, the 14 consecutive injuries that forced him to look inward, and the obsession with perfection that began at just four years old when he became consumed by a fear of death.Jake and Damian explore what true high performance really means. Not outcomes, not stats, not being the best in the world - but absolute presence. Living fully in every moment, whether that's a World Cup final or doing the washing up. Jonny explains why self-belief is actually fragility in disguise, why the "super version" of you already exists, and why the only thing stopping you from being extraordinary is what you're holding onto, not what you're missing. This isn't a conversation about rugby. It's a conversation about identity, choice, mortality, and what it means to truly live rather than just exist. Jonny challenges every assumption about success, performance, and self-worth - and offers a radically different way of seeing the world. If you've ever felt the weight of pressure, the fear of failure, or the exhaustion of trying to be perfect, this episode will change how you see yourself.Heights
What if the world's most elite pilots and astronauts aren't just highly trained, but perceptive in ways science still struggles to explain? In this episode of Mayim Bialik's Breakdown, Dr. Iya Whiteley—Aviation & Space Psychologist and founder of Cosmic Baby Academy—reveals why the cognition of pilots and astronauts differs fundamentally, and what their mental wiring can teach us about intuition, creativity, consciousness, and extrasensory perception. We explore why they're often driven more by curiosity and creativity than fear or ambition—and why so many are artists or musicians. Dr. Whiteley explains how safety-critical environments sharpen awareness, yet make experts reluctant to share the intuitive or “non-rational” roots of their decisions. From martial arts and embodied intelligence to the idea that intellect may live in the muscles (not just the brain), we unpack how heightened presence allows some to anticipate movement, energy, or events beyond the five senses. Could this explain why experts are studied to understand ESP, even when they can't explain it? Dr. Iya Whiteley breaks down: - Reports of extrasensory perception in extreme situations - Spherical awareness, synesthesia, psi abilities, and other heightened perception - Why intuition becomes harder to access once we try to explain it - How rigid rules suppress expertise, isolate experts, and block knowledge transfer - Why fear of having our minds “read” may motivate us to clear negative thoughts (& what that says about thought's power) - Whether mindsets create change, or environments respond to mindset - How internal organs & physiological responses differ in pilots & astronauts - Family Constellation Therapy: what it is & how it works - Childbirth visions & pre-birth communication during pregnancy & birth - Synchronicity & meaningful coincidences: how they form lifelong patterns The conversation extends into the UAP/extraterrestrial phenomenon, where Dr. Whiteley explains how her pilot and astronaut research applies to these encounters. Pilots report instruments switching on and off, unexplained objects in the sky, and real danger from distraction during critical flight moments—yet many fear reporting events due to stigma and professional risk. She shares a striking account of a helicopter pilot who encountered something mysterious while transporting a classified object, and introduces the “Astronaut's Eye” phenomenon, showing why sharing anomalous experiences is essential to legitimizing them and advancing understanding. This episode challenges the boundaries between science, intuition, embodiment, and consciousness—and asks: What becomes possible when we stop dismissing experiences that don't fit existing models? If you're interested in pilots, astronauts, ESP, UAPs, intuition, consciousness, or the future of human perception, this is a conversation you don't want to miss! Send a textWhat happens when elite performance ends—but the pain doesn't?In this powerful episode of Joey Pinz Conversations, Joey sits down with former All-American linebacker and two-time national champion Brandon Day to unpack the hidden cost of high achievement—and the unexpected path to renewal.Brandon opens up about life after sports, identity loss, chronic pain, and burnout that spiraled into some of his darkest moments. From sleeping on a deflated air mattress in Los Angeles to questioning his own worth, his story is raw, honest, and deeply human. The turning point came through applied neuroscience and neurotraining—work that helped Brandon eliminate pain, regain clarity, and rebuild his life from the inside out. Today, as a father of triplets and founder of Evolved Athlete, he helps lifelong athletes and high performers tap into flow states, restore nervous system balance, and perform without burning out. This conversation explores imposter syndrome, neuroplasticity, the brain's need for safety and predictability, and why consistency—not intensity—is the real edge.If you've ever felt stuck, broken, or past your prime—this episode will change how you think about performance, recovery, and what's possible next.

In this episode of Future Tech, I sit down with Blue Origin space explorer Jason Stansell, crew member of Mission NS-37, to break down what spaceflight really teaches you about preparation, risk, teamwork, and perspective. Jason shares what it's like training for space, flying above Earth, and returning with a completely different view of fear, execution, and community. We talk about why spaceflight is not about thrill-seeking, how extreme preparation mirrors entrepreneurship, and what founders can learn from operating in environments where mistakes are not an option. This conversation goes far beyond space — it's about discipline, humility, and building something bigger than yourself.Jason is a featured speaker in the upcoming NASA documentary Before the Moon.
