Nate's Take with Nate Rossetti

Making the choice between throwing in the towel and running on a second IT band injury becomes the focus. Once the decision gets made, the question becomes how to reach peak performance through the pain. I'll talk about this and the result on today's episode.

The fourth of July is not only my favorite holiday but it was also the day I ran my longest race. It was the race I had been preparing for most of the season up to this point, the Bridgton 4-Miler! I felt good about it after such a great race at Basin Harbor but how would I do with the extra mile!? Find out in today's episode.

Reliving the excitement of Basin Harbor. Not only was it race day for me but it was a family weekend spent in Colchester. I felt good heading into race day, didn't have to drive far, was not ailing any injuries, and had no pain. This is the race that would define my 2021 campaign.

Colchester becomes the focus after a gutsy performance in Shelburne. I spent a lot of time strength training, cross training, and running hills to overcome the IT band issue on my right leg. In Colchester, I had the opportunity to run my first healthy race.

Disaster strikes in Shelburne! Forced to make a difficult decision, I decide to not give up and run the race despite significant injury both from a change in technique and injury during pre-race warm-up. I take you through my thoughts, my struggle, and the feeling of success in what I considered my "bloody sock game." 

The first race in 24 years is described in this new take! Recovering from a right IT band injury and dealing with ailing lower back pain, I describe what it was like to take on Montpelier. I relive what that back pain was, how I dealt with it, the crippling affect of the race, its aftermath, and the declaration feeling of "I'm back!" 

Season Six brings a new look with an old attitude! This season, Nate will spend each episode breaking down his running adventure. On episode one, he discusses what made him decide that he needed to make life changes and he details how the running adventure actually began.

Nate opens the show discussing his thoughts on the New England Patriots season. He discusses his feelings on Cam Newton, Bill Belichick, life without Tom Brady, the future of both Belichick and the team, and what he believes needs to happen in the off-season. Nate commits to giving Belichick a pass for a COVID riddled season and he cites his own being off the air for two months due to the pandemic but he says next year, there are no passes.

Nate discusses how teamwork is required to be successful in all parts of life and he directly relates the segment to New England's 35-30 loss to Seattle on Sunday Night Football. He says that it wasn't Cam Newton that lost the game for New England, no, he says that Nick Folk should be blamed for not doing his part. Folk, 1-3 this season, missed a crucial field goal which if he had gotten, would've set the Patriots up with a chip shot at the end and a Cam Newton game winning drive. Instead, Folk couldn't "do his job" and the Patriots lost in attempt to do what they should've have had to do. In the second segment, Nate makes his week three picks followed by a new Card of the day in the third.

Nate returns for season five and he tells us why it's important to stay positive. He discusses Cam Newton's journey to the New England Patriots and says boldly that in 2020 we are all Cam Newton's story. We've hit set backs, we'll hit more set backs, but we need to keep our eyes on the prize. Nate says that at no point did Cam give up despite not being wanted by any other team. Instead, he remained positive and he gave a team what it was looking for.

Nate returns to thank listeners for tuning in during season four and to let listeners know that because he had to cut the season short, he made donations to One Mission and the Make A Wish Foundation of Vermont. He talks to listeners about the XFL season, the sports stoppage in general, and he looks forward to returning for season five in September!

Nate discusses routine and how sometimes when you don't change it, fate changes it for you. He says that in Tampa Bay, Marc Trestman was so fixed on his routine of playing two quarterbacks that the only thing that would change it is a blessing in disguise. He says that Trestman couldn't do it himself but because of fate, when the change was made, good things began to happen. Tampa Bay won its first game. Nate discusses the LA Wildcats first win and says that in life we sometimes need to make change even if that change isn't popular. He explains that Winston Moss made change after week one and because of it, his team bought in and learned valuable lessons. Nate explains what those lessons are and says that opposite of Winston Moss, Marc Trestman did the opposite. On today's show, Nate discusses Eli Rogers decision to play football on Saturday rather than attend his Mother's funeral. Nate says that in life, we need to make decisions that are best for us and not always everybody else. He talks about how in 2020 our decisions are often impacted by what people say or think online and he draws comparison to bullying and what things were like in the 90's vs 2020. In the second segment, he gives you his week three XFL picks and gives you the results of Time Travel Fantasy. In the final segment, he has a special card of the day.

Nate is on to the XFL and talks about the success of week one! He says that in life, we must be creative and we must believe in ourselves and that creativity. He says that sometimes its ok to ask for help and he points to Vince McMahon's second go around as one where he did and he says it's going to translate to success. In the second segment, Nate makes his week two XFL picks and tells listeners the result of week one of Time Travel Fantasy. In the final segment, he treats listeners to a very special card of the day!

Nate talks about how we should never give up in life and he says that because Andy Reid has never given up, he's finally punched his ticket to Canton. The Chiefs defeated the 49ers in Super Bowl 54 and Nate uses the win as an example of never giving up. He talks about how the Chiefs not only came back in this game but how they found a way all post-season. In the second segment, he talks about how Vince McMahon, like Andy Reid, didn't give up and how his revived XFL will launch this weekend. In the final segment of the show, Nate answers questions in the mail bag.

In this special episode of Nate's Take, Nate spends two segments discussing Kobe Bryant. In the first segment, he admits he was wrong on the way the Lakers handled Kobe in his final season and he also encourages listeners to make amends with anyone who they're having conflict with in life. He talks about his feelings on Kobe, what it meant to him, and what it meant to so many who spent the day mourning the loss. In the second of the two segments, Nate discusses a special card of the day.

Nate talks about leadership in the 49ers organization and he says that because they found a guy with a similar vision and took a risk, they're playing the Super Bowl. He explains how we need to stop judging people by what their resume says they can do and instead to take the time to listen. He also says that on the other end, we need to not be afraid to take those risks and make those ideas happen. In the second segment, he recaps some of Championship weekend in the NFL while also using the segment to discuss some upcoming segments on the show. In the final segment, he has an all new card of the day.

Nate talks about how in life we should never not expect the unexpected and he makes the comparison to the NFL Divisional round games between the Houston Texans and the Kansas City Chiefs and the Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans. In the second segment, Nate discusses the divisional round match ups and goes over his AFC and NFC Championship game picks. He closes the show talking about a new segment on the show called Time Travel Fantasy Football and an all new card of the day!

Nate opens the show by discussing the Patriots loss to the Titans and he tells listeners that sometimes in life all good things come to an end. He explains that the Patriots are now in rebuilding mode and you should only expect them to get younger. In the second segment, he reviews his wildcard picks and makes his divisional round picks. Nate discusses two things in life that happens to a lot of people and relates those two things to what Tom Brady is currently up against with the New England Patriots. He discusses the loss to Miami, the road ahead, and the fact that Saturday night could potentially be Tom Brady's last game in New England. Nate discusses XFL 2.0 in the first segment and he spends a significant amount of time talking about the "life story" of Vince McMahon. Nate says that what's made Vince successful is his ability to change the way he does business. He says that Vince is someone who takes risks, makes ideas happen, and gets back up and try's again in times where he doesn't get the result he wanted. In the second segment, Nate gives his week seventeen NFL picks and in the third, Nate discusses his pick for this weeks Card of the day!

Nate returns for his annual Super Bowl special and this year he tells you that in America, when you become successful, you become the villain. He talks about how American's grow bored with success. American's want to try new things, over and over again. In the second segment, he announces the 2017 Super Steamy Streamy award winners and tells listeners how much the Nathan's Team program will donate to the Make A Wish Foundation. Nate closes the show by giving listeners his Super Bowl pick.

Nate opens the show by telling people to follow the LEEIB Fantasy Football Final. He then spends the first segment talking about Jimmy Garoppolo and he asks the question on everybody's mind: Why didn't anybody else go for this guy? He explains that Patriot fans shouldn't be upset for not getting more and tells you why winning can sometimes have bad effects on a person or team. In the second segment, he gives his week sixteen NFL picks and he closes the show with a new segment called FSM. 

Nate returns from his vacation to talk about the Jimmy Garoppolo trade and he tells listeners that Bill Belichick is sending a message with the move. He also says that Brad Stevens should already be in consideration for Coach of the year. In the second segment, he tells you his week twelve NFL picks and gives you an update on our total donation numbers. In the closing segment, he has a special Card of the Day.

Nate Rossetti returns for the first time since August 25th with a new take on front office personnel in Sports. Nate says you can't be too quick to fire the coach. He also says that in life we should all think about how the choices we make will affect our future. In the second segment, he gives his week seven NFL picks and tells you how well he's done this year vs last. He closes the show with a special Card of the Day segment. It's his favorite NHL player of all-time.

Nate discusses the Isiah Thomas/Kyrie Irving trade and he talks about how individual people have set backs in life but find that families can help overcome those set backs. He says that for Isiah Thomas, going to Cleveland is a set back and he says the same for Boston unless they can prove by mid-season that they're a better team with Kyrie. In the second segment, he talks super fight and he closes the show with a special Card of the Day segment.

Nate opens the show by talking about the possible renaming of Yawkey Way and he tells listeners why he agrees and applauds the decision to do so. He explains to listeners that as the world evolve so do we as people and each generation does their best to right the wrongs of previous generations. He talks about Kevin Durant's decision to not go to the White House and dedicates much of his time talking about his thoughts on Donald Trump.

Nate opens the show by talking about the different paths we take in life and he says similarly teams in the NFL such as New England and Dallas have different paths as well. He says the Patriots have an easy path while Dallas has a path that's never been tougher. In second segment, he comments on a national news story about a former blogger that used to be a consultant to the leeib blog. He talks about how people should be nicer to one another and he encourages listeners to think about the consequences of their thoughts before acting on them. In the final segment, Nate discusses Colin Kaepernick.

Nate returns for season three and he tells listeners why he believes Conor McGregor has a shot to knock out Floyd Mayweather. He says in life we don't all have opportunity come our way but when we do we make the most of it. In the second segment he gives you his 2017 NFL picks and he'll also tell you who he believes will reach Super Bowl 52. In the final segment, he closes the show with Card of the Day.

Nate spends the first two segments of the show talking about Super Bowl 51. He calls it the greatest game he's ever seen in any sport. He also says that Tom Brady and Bill Belichick cemented their legacy's as best ever. He takes time out to talk about cheating in sports and he compares cheating in football to other sports and he tells you that the Patriots 'cheating' scandals were overblown media firestorms and that Sunday's game should discredit both deflategate and spygate. In the final segment he talks about the Bruins firing of head coach, Claude Julien.

Nate opens the Super Bowl special by telling listeners why he believes win or lose, Tom Brady is the greatest of all-time. In the second segment, Nate welcomes Brian McDougall to talk about the big game. He also uses the show to announce the Super Steamy Streamy award winners and he tells listeners about his donation to the New Hampshire Food Bank. During the broadcast, he discusses the Super Bowl and he breaks down his thoughts on what the outcome may be and how it could get there. He makes his Super Bowl prediction and closes the show with a special Card of the Day segment.

Nate opens the show by telling listeners that in life there are facts and then there are alternative facts. He says Mike Tomlin gave us alternative facts when he said the Pittsburgh Steelers had moved on from the Antonio Brown facebook live video and he diverts from sports into politics and tells listeners that we should be concerned about the current state of the country. He says all great empires fall and points to where we are now as how it starts. Nate says that you can't go life giving second chances to people who continually fail you. In the second segment, he gives his post-season recap and reviews his post-season picks. He closes the show with the mail bag.

Nate says poor decisions in life cost you and he says Antonio Brown's decision to facebook live himself in the locker room following Pittsburgh's divisional round win will have the same effect on the Steeelers in the AFC title game as the Odell Beckham Jr situation had on the Giants in their Wildcard game. Nate opens the show by congratulating Clemson on winning the CFP National Championship. In his first segment, he talks about how Odell Beckham Jr and his receiving core were in fact a distraction to the team and he says ultimately that's what cost the Giants the game against Green Bay. Nate says Odell put more pressure on himself after his first drop and he says that every decision we make effects our future. Nate says Giants fans should blame Ben McAdoo. In the second segment, Nate recaps his wildcard picks and gives listeners his divisional round picks. He closes the show with new mailbag questions!

Nate opens the New Year by telling how special the New England Patriots organization really is. He says in every industry he's ever worked there's been a limited number of really good people and the good people keep the overwhelming number of slackers afloat. He attributes that to America today and says we may never see an organization like the Patriots again. In the second segment, he tells you where he was right and where he was wrong on the 2016 N?FL season followed by his Wildcard picks in the third.

Nate begins the final show before the new year by saying Jeff Fisher never really had a future in LA. Nate insists that Fisher was brought in to be a transitioner not a coach. He points to the fact that in his career he's been able to successfully move an operation but not motivate a football team. Nate says, sometimes in life, things just happen and you either roll with it or you don't. He says Fisher never saw the signs but we did. In the second segment, Nate makes his week fifteen NFL picks before closing out the show with the final card of the day of 2016 in the third.

Nate gives you his take on Tom Brady reaching 201 wins and he tells you why he believes Tom is the greatest quarterback of all-time despite the certain elements of controversy that surround his career. He also explains the real reason people dislike Tom Brady and he says it doesn't have a whole lot to do with deflategate or spygate. He points to the fact that Tom is a winner and he uses examples of other teams and players that win to make his case. Nate says that a potential Cowboys vs Patriots Super Bowl would have the feel of the St. Louis vs New England 2001 Super Bowl but with reversed roles. He calls Dak the 2016 Tom Brady. Nate opens the show by saying that the Thanksgiving games this year are the most exciting Thanksgiving games in a very long time. He points to the fact the Detroit and Minnesota are playing for a spot a top the division while Dallas and Washington are playing a meaningful division game. Nate also takes a moment to encourage listeners to help come together as a country on this Thanksgiving. The Nate's Take one year anniversary edition opens with Nate talking about Jeff Fisher's decision to start Jared Goff this Sunday. Nate thinks Jeff waited too long. Nate says if you draft a guy #1 to be your future, you need to play that guy right away. He points to mistakes in Cleveland and a success story in Tennessee. The show also contains two audio montage's between breaks and in the second segment, Nate spends time talking about the show, taking risks, and making ideas happen. He closes out the show with Card of the day.

Nate spends the first segment talking about the Dallas Cowboys and how Jerry Jones can't mess it up. He says the big problem is Jerry and Romo have a friendship that's impacting Jerry's decisions. Nate thinks Jerry should take a step back and give Jason Garrett full control. In the second segment, Nate says the Patriots will be just fine and he does his week eleven NFL picks. He closes the show out with the mail bag. 

Nate discusses the Golden State Warriors and he puts fan rumbles to rest by saying that despite the slow start their record doesn't show, the Warriors will be just fine. He says when you bring in superstars to play with other superstars, it takes time to build chemistry. In the second segment, he discusses the fact that NFL teams want to offer Jim Harbaugh mega money to go back to the NFL. He points out the fact that there are a lot of great teams but not a lot of great coaches. He closes the show with another edition of Card of the day.

Nate gives his take on the election results in a special night time edition of Nate's Take. He says that regardless of opinion, now's the time to come together. Now's the time to become one again. He says we're all a team. He also uses the opening segment to talk about the Dak Prescott/Tony Romo situation in Dallas. He says that Jerry Jones is poised to make the ultimate mistake by removing Dak for Romo if they don't do well in Pittsburgh. In the second segment, he talks about how coaching is like parenting and he says we all need to be role models. He closes the show out with the mail bag.

Nate says the NFL is going down a dangerous road when it comes to their work on player conduct and domestic violence. He says similarly, our country is also going down the same dangerous road and he gives you his thoughts on the course of the election. Nate says in the end, nobody will win this election. We've all already lost. He encourages listeners to get out and vote third party. He warns that every great empire falls and he points to the NFL and the US as being those great empires of today. In the second segment, he gives you his week ten NFL picks and he closes the third segment by answering mailbag questions.

Nate opens the show by talking about the new Major League Baseball World Champions! He briefly reviews the game and says that it was great for the sport of baseball. He reiterates his belief that leadership starts at the top and he talks about how the Cubs front office put together something that only many dreamed about. He says last nights game was more than just a game. Outside of being the greatest game of our time, it was a story, a story we can all relate too. In the second segment, he discusses Belichick potentially trading Tom Brady and some of the things Jamie Collins said when he got to Cleveland. He closes the show with a mail bag question.

Nate tells you why he's not surprised that the Patriots traded away Jamie Collins. He says that Bill Belichick is old school and he expects every player to do his job. If he feels they're not he is not afraid to move on. He attributes this to not becoming friends with his players. In the second segment he says the Cowboys need to stcik with Dak and he gives you his week nine NFL picks. He closes the show out with his thoughts on game six of the World Series and Card of the day.

Nate says that the world is not as dangerous as the media makes it out to be and he says similarly like we shouldn't be influenced by the media, Pat Riley wasn't influenced by the fans and history in Miami. Nate says Riley didn't want Dwayne Wade back because he didn't want what happened in LA to happen in Miami. In the second segment, he talks about the World Series and he says like in Chicago, leadership and the trickle effect is also true for the Indians. Nate closes the show by answering a mail bag question.

Nate explains why having leadership at the top is crucial and he says that leadership at the top and culture go hand-in-hand. He credits Chicago's run to the World Series as a result of a positive culture change and leadership at the top that trickles down throughout the organization. He explains that successful people in positions of power always have a blue print and know the organization before they come in and he says we need to move away from national searches and look within our own communities. In segment two, he makes his week eight NFL picks and he closes the show out with the results of 50, 75, 100 Hope and card of the day.

Nate talks about how New England is so lucky to have Tom Brady. He says we don't give Tom enough credit for learning the correct way to take hits in the NFL. He points out the fact that Jay Cutler has none of the qualities a Tom Brady has and he says although John Fox is a great coach, he will most likely lose his job because of his decision to stick with Cutler. In the second segment, he talks about how he believes this is the year for the Chicago Cubs. He says leadership starts at the top of that organization and it trickles down. He says the Cubs have all the right pieces to make it happen. He closes the show with card of the day.
