Evan Bradds is returning to his alma mater, Belmont University, where he was a two-time AP All-American Honorable Mention and the program's all-time leading scorer during the Division I era. After his playing career, Bradds quickly rose through the coaching ranks, gaining experience at the highest levels of basketball and ultimately becoming the second-youngest head coach in Division I basketball. Now, he returns to Nashville with the opportunity to lead the program where he made his name. Bradds' coaching journey has taken him through some of the most respected organizations in basketball. Most recently at Duke, he was part of a team that won 35 games, while his NBA experience with the Boston Celtics and Utah Jazz gave him the opportunity to be instrumental in the development of players like Walker Kessler, Keyonte George, and Grant Williams. He also worked alongside some of the game's most respected coaches, including Joe Mazzulla, Brad Stevens, and Ime Udoka, experiences that have helped shape his approach as a coach. Bradds now takes over a Belmont program coming off an MVC Championship under Casey Alexander, with several key pieces returning and expectations remaining high. Belmont's tradition and consistent success have established a standard that Bradds will be expected to maintain, but his familiarity with the program and experience across basketball's highest levels make this a particularly exciting new era for the Bruins. Nico Iamaleava is the most misunderstood QB in the nation. I've known of Nico since he was 16, and I've always felt like people were quicker to react to the headlines than understand the person. And since we launched Y-Option three years ago the vision was to share insightful and thoughtful stories in college football. That's today's podcast, fueled by our founding sponsor 76, keeping you on the GO GO GO so you never miss a beat. This conversation will give you a different look at who he is. The way he talks about his parents. The way he processes praise and blame. The way his mom's cancer battle changed his perspective. The way he gives back to today's youth via his Wilson football camps. There is a lot more to Nico than the noise around him. And if you're a fan who has resented the new-age in college football, this episode may refresh your passion for the game.As Nico steps into the 2026 season and the deepest group of quarterbacks in the history of the Big Ten conference, we will see the starter at UCLA as a man who is grounded, grateful and ready to be where his feet are.I spend my life talking to quarterbacks and today's podcast was one of the most enjoyable podcasts of this decade-long endeavor. We went back and forth on the craft, how he trains his mind, and the impact of new UCLA head coach Bob Chesney. I walked in excited about our conversation and left the Bruins facility inspired by the face of the program on so many levels. I hope by the time you complete this episode, you feel the same way. It's been a hectic week as I've gone from USC to Michigan to the Hall of Fame game to Michigan State to the Hall of Fame induction to Minnesota to home. And I'm heading back on the road tomorrow to prepare for the Apple Cup on NBC, Cy-Hawk, Indiana, and Penn State. Full recaps with Todd Blackledge coming soon and a detailed essay about what it was like watching Larry Fitzgerald get inducted into the Hall as number 385. Until then, much love and stay steady,Yogi Y-Option: College Football with Yogi Roth is a reader-supported publication. Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel. This is a public episode. On this episode of Bruins Beat, Evan Marinofsky goes solo to break down one of the most debated questions heading into next season — who are the Bruins' top two centers, and should Elias Lindholm even be one of them? Evan makes the case for a shake-up, arguing the Lindholm-Pastrnak pairing just isn't working and that Pavel Zhaka and Matt Poitras deserve bigger roles down the middle. Then he pivots to the 2026 free agent class — is it actually worth saving cap space for, or is building through free agency a relic of the past? Jason Robertson is the name to watch. And to close it out, Evan digs up a wild 2021 trade proposal that would have sent Sidney Crosby to Boston — and honestly, it's hard not to wonder what could have been. 0:00 – Intro 1:33 – State of the Bruins: what needs to change 3:09 – Line combinations & top six forward debate 5:10 – Lindholm, Pastrnak, Zacha & the center situation 9:27 – Expectations for the young core this season 10:35 – PrizePicks 11:53 – 2026 free agency class: is it worth waiting for? 14:38 – Why you can't build through free agency anymore 18:39 – What if the Bruins had traded for Sidney Crosby in 2021? 22:37 – Outro Bruins on CLNS Media is Powered by:
