Jason explores whether Mike Vrabel, Mike Macdonald, Sam Darnold, and Drake Maye drove a stake into the heart of NFL black worship and idolatry. In the year of the black quarterback in professional football, white coaches paired with white quarterbacks dominated the NFL. Look no farther than Sunday's AFC and NFC Championships. Twelve NFL teams featured white QBs paired with white coaches. Of those 12, only the Cincinnati Bengals and Indianapolis Colts (with injured QBs), had a losing record. The combined regular-season record of those 12 teams was 134-70. Across football, it was a bad year for black racial idolatry. Deion Sanders went 3-9. Penn State fired James Franklin. Sherrone Moore torched his personal life and career at Michigan. Mike Tomlin exited Pittsburgh without a press conference and amid nasty rumors about his personal life. The regular-season win-loss record for black NFL QBs was embarrassing. And media race-baiters Stephen A. Smith, Cam Newton, Ryan Clark, Jemele Hill, and Josina Anderson made utter fools of themselves. Jason argues that "black culture" has baited too many black people to abandon winning Christian values for the losing values of racial idolatry. It's an amazing episode of "Fearless," with Steve Kim. January 26, 2026 - Season 16, Episode 85 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing Super Bowl LX now being set with the New England Patriots facing the Seattle Seahawks. Steelers Team President Art Rooney II talked to Bob Labriola over the weekend about the hiring of Mike McCarthy to be the team's new head coach, so Alex and I make sure to parse all of his comments on the subject. Alex and I also discuss the Steelers' process of hiring a new head coach and whether or not it was McCarthy's job to have the moment that Mike Tomlin decided to resign. Alex and I discuss the development of the next franchise quarterback being the primary focus now and whether we'll see QB Aaron Rodgers back in Pittsburgh in 2026. We discuss whether the Steelers could possibly look at acquiring a quarterback such as Mac Jones or Malik Willis by this year's draft in hopes of turning either into the NFL's next Sam Darnold. Former Steelers OC Arthur Smith will be the next offensive coordinator for Ohio State so that bit of news gets our attention during this show. Alex and I also further discuss what the Steelers rebuilt coaching staff could look like with McCarthy now installed as the team's new head coach. Later in this Monday show, Alex and I discuss whether McCarthy should be considered the top head coach in the AFC North division at this point and even with the Cleveland Browns yet to hire their next head coach. This 80-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted in the above recap and we make sure to read and answer several emails we have received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Send us a textIn this episode of Game For All Seasons, the crew dives headfirst into one of the most polarizing debates in sports right now:NFL Coaching Hot Takes:The crew tackles the James Harrison controversy surrounding Mike Tomlin's coaching legacy. Harrison questioned Tomlin's Hall of Fame credentials, stating he "doesn't make players" and lacks a coaching tree. The hosts debate whether this is legitimate criticism or just hate, with Coach E defending Tomlin's impressive record and noting the systemic challenges facing Black coaches in developing coaching trees.Playoff Analysis:The team breaks down the shocking firing of Sean McDermott by the Buffalo Bills after a 98-50 record and eight playoff appearances. Despite Josh Allen's four turnovers (two interceptions and two fumbles) in their divisional loss to Denver, the coaches question whether McDermott was scapegoated for the quarterback's poor performance.Championship Sunday Preview:Looking ahead to the conference championships, the crew discusses the AFC matchup between Denver and New England. With Bo Nicks breaking his ankle and being ruled out, backup Jared Stidham steps in for Denver. The hosts debate whether the Broncos' number two defense can carry them against Drake May and the Patriots.College Football History:The team analyzes Indiana's perfect 16-0 season, which they call "statistically the greatest season in college football history" since 1894. They explore whether this NIL-fueled success story, built with a $20+ million roster investment, represents the future of college football or a one-time achievement.Post Game Word: "Stop Taking Everything For Granted"Coach E closes with his signature motivational message about not taking life's blessings for granted, from waking up each morning to having food on the table and a job to go to.Perfect for fans of sports podcasts, hip-hop debates, coaching culture, and real-life conversations.Tap in, get inspired, and get your weekly dose of game.
Ray would trade Jalen Ramsey and cut Patrick Queen. Ray doesn't think the Steelers can pay Ramsey $17 million to be a safety. The money they save on Mike Tomlin's big salary could go be spent to hire additional coaches. Ray hasn't heard anything about Mario Cristobal and has been quiet. Anthony Weaver is "a serious candidate" for the Steelers.
Dan & Chelsea preview the upcoming NFL championship games this weekend. They also discuss in length the NFL coaching carousel, especially Pittsburgh's quest for replacing Mike Tomlin.
Mark Kaboly joins the show! Mark says that if the Steelers don't hire a head coach until next week and the Rams win, we know the next Steelers coach is going to be a Rams guy. Kaboly says "not yet" if the Steelers are interested in Sean McDermott as a dark horse. Mark and Chris talk about local establishments representing their youth sports clubs. One of my baseball teams growing up was sponsored by a tavern that went out of business half way through the year, so we represented a defunct business. Mark answers how much Art Rooney II will be leaning on other people to help him make the decision. The Joe Hendry theme song will always irritate Mullsy and we love that. A discussion of old school WWF action figures takes place that unlocks memories I forgot I had. Who will still be on the roster next year for the Steelers?
A solo Mullsy show today. He starts off with a very simple question: Do fans trust Art Rooney II to make the right call and hire the next Steelers head coach? If Rooney II was willing to keep Mike Tomlin around after another embarrassing playoff performance, should that scare Steelers fans?
The Sean McDermott comment from Nick peaked Mullsy's interest. He dives a little bit more into the McDermott possibility of getting an interview. Where would McDermott rank in possible Steelers head coaching candidates?

FAN MAIL--We would love YOUR feedback--Send us a Text MessageA coach you could count on. That's the rarest currency in a league built on chaos, and it's exactly what Mike Tomlin delivered for nineteen seasons in Pittsburgh. We break down how standards, not slogans, powered a run with no losing years, a locker room that believed, and a city that saw its own identity reflected in the man on the sideline. We dig into the engine behind the consistency: clear expectations, blunt honesty, and a culture that turned stability into a competitive weapon. Yes, the playoff paradox loomed—loaded rosters didn't always cash out in January—and we talk candidly about game management debates, staff loyalty, and why the regular season excellence that kept the Steelers relevant also set the stage for harsh criticism. The nuance matters: the same traits that sparked frustration forged trust, clarity, and resilience on the inside.Tomlin's legacy reaches further than wins. As one of the most visible Black head coaches in NFL history, he embodied character and steadiness without making himself the story. We reflect on what his quiet decision to step away means for a franchise defined by long-tenured leaders and what the next coach inherits: a high floor, relentless expectations, and a blueprint that proves culture can win. Along the way, we revisit a cold AFC title night, Troy Polamalu's game-sealing pick, and the Santonio Holmes toe-tap that crystallized belief—moments that reveal how preparation and leadership fuse under pressure. If you care about leadership, team culture, and the fine line between stability and complacency, this one's for you. Listen, share with a Steelers fan who still quotes “the standard is the standard,” and leave a review with your take on Tomlin's defining legacy.Key Points from the Episode:• Tomlin's consistency and no losing seasons• Culture as a competitive weapon• Honest communication and locker room trust• The playoff paradox and fair critique• Representation and character-driven leadership• A quiet decision to step away• What the next Steelers coach inherits• Memories that cement a legacyOther resources: Want to leave a review? Heartbreak has a shape, and tonight it looked like a perfect throw to Cole Kmet that deserved a different ending. We sit with the loss to the Rams and refuse to look away from the fine print: Caleb Williams was electric, the drops were brutal, and the fourth-quarter edges weren't sharp enough. Pride is real, so is frustration, and both can push a team forward if you translate emotion into habits. We dig into the sequence that swung the game, why route effort matters when the ball is late or underthrown, and how veterans like Kmet steady a rookie-heavy supporting cast. Caleb's leadership arc shows up on the field and behind the mic—taking blame, spreading credit, and setting a tone that demands more from everyone, including DJ Moore. We talk development without excuses: cleaner stems, stronger hands, smarter situational football, and the boring details that separate “almost” from “advance.” The Soldier Field crowd and the weather did their part. Now the offense needs to match that energy snap to snap.Zooming out, we tackle the Mike Tomlin step-down and what it means for Steelers culture, plus a blunt look at the AFC's shifting hierarchy. The Patriots look ahead of schedule, and that should make a lot of teams uncomfortable. We sort quarterback narratives that got loud this weekend—who elevated, who folded, and why context matters when you hang 30 and still walk off a loser. Finally, we circle back to Chicago's runway: keep Kmet, rebuild Loveland's confidence, demand relentless effort from every route, and give Caleb the infrastructure to turn highlight throws into winning scripts. If you felt the sting and still see the future, you're in the right place. Hit follow, share this with the diehard in your life, and drop your take: what single change would have flipped this game—and what's the first move you make this offseason?Support the show-----------https://www.MTPshow.comOur Social Mediahttps://linktr.ee/MTPSHOW-----------Hosts: Mike Marcangelo, Dave Clarke, Rayshawn Buchanan, Bob KellyProducer: Craig D'AlessandroInquiries: Craig@mtpshow.com

January 21, 2026 - Season 16, Episode 82 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Wednesday morning episode, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing the morning press conference that the Buffalo Bills ownership and front office conducted and some of the jaw-dropping comments that we could not ignore. Steelers assistant general manager Andy Weidl will reportedly interview with the Atlanta Falcons for their general manager position, so Alex and I make sure to hit on that news early in this show. The Steelers have signed a few more free agent players to Reserve/Future contracts since our last episode, so Alex and I run through that list. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have now hired former Steelers STC Danny Smith, so we make sure to give that bit of news some attention. We also discuss the possibility of S Miles Killebrew following Smith to Tampa Bay this coming offseason with him scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent in March. With the Steelers' search for a new head coach now entering its second week, Alex and I discuss the latest concerning that topic. We go over the in-person meeting scheduled for this week with head coach candidates and whether the list of new prospects will grow any this week. Former Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger released a new episode of his podcast on Tuesday and that show produced several talking points. We go over Roethlisberger's support for Mike McCarthy to be the Steelers' next head coach and his thoughts on how he thinks the Steelers should handle their quarterback position in 2026 and possibly even 2027. Alex and I have a lengthy discussion about McCarthy potentially being the Steelers next head coach and the pros and cons related to that. We discuss McCarthy's age, how much longer he would likely coach, and whether either of us would be happy if he ultimately gets the job. With Roethlisberger talking about the future of the quarterback position during his recent podcast episode, Alex and I discuss the possibility of QB Will Howard being the starter in Pittsburgh in 2026. We also discuss the possibility of the Steelers taking a hard look at Green Bay Packers QB Malik Willis in free agency this offseason. I make my thoughts known on Howard ultimately being the quarterback the Steelers decide to roll with for at least the 2026 season. Steelers DT Cameron Heyward addressed the departure of HC Mike Tomlin during his recent podcast episode, so Alex and I make sure to recap things he said on that topic. We also address what former Steelers RB Najee Harris said about Tomlin during his appearance on a podcast. This 106-minute episode also discusses several other minor topics not noted above and we close things out by answering a few emails we have received from listeners. steelersdepot.com Learn more about your ad choices. Kait and JJ Tomlin (the couple behind Heart of Dating) join Levi and Jennie for a hilarious, super-helpful conversation about what dating looks like right now—and why so many women feel frustrated while so many men feel shut down. From “80% isn't enough” expectations to the weird ways dating apps have turned people into filters and checkboxes, they get real about what's happening in the church and what actually helps. Along the way, they unpack what to look for beneath the surface (hello, teachability + humility), why “trajectory” matters more than perfection, and how to think about attraction with more wisdom than a swipe. Plus, you'll hear their own unexpected meet-cute—from a Zoom “blind date bachelor” moment to long-distance FaceTimes and a relationship built on character (wolf sweater and all).
