Dr. Allan Moseley delivered a message from Exodus 3 and 4 focusing on God's call of Moses and how it demonstrates that God can use us in His redemption plan when we obey Him. The sermon centered on two major truths: first, that God sees our suffering and has a plan to rescue us, as evidenced by God's declaration in Exodus 3:7-8 that He had seen the affliction of His people in Egypt and had come down to deliver them. Second, God overcomes our inadequacies to use us for His good purpose, despite our feelings of unworthiness or inability. Dr. Moseley systematically examined Moses' six objections to God's call: "Who am I?" (feeling unqualified), not knowing God well enough, fear that people wouldn't believe him, inability to speak well, wanting God to send someone else, and concern for his family. To each excuse, God provided patient answers and assurance of His presence and power. Dr. Moseley emphasized that God delights in choosing unlikely people—shepherds, fishermen, teenagers from small towns—to accomplish His greatest work, so that no human being might boast in God's presence (1 Corinthians 1). The message concluded by contrasting Moses as an imperfect human deliverer with Jesus as the perfect, eternal deliverer who came not just to redeem Israel, but to be "the Savior of the world" (1 John 4:14). Pastor Patrick Austin begins his sermon on Exodus 1-2 with a relatable family vacation analogy, explaining how what starts as joy can turn uncomfortable—much like the Israelites' experience in Egypt. The descendants of Jacob, who initially prospered in Egypt under Joseph's favor, eventually found themselves enslaved under a new Pharaoh who "did not know Joseph." Pastor Austin emphasizes that "in the darkest days of life, God is working to lead his people out of Egypt and into grace." Drawing from Exodus 2:23-25, Pastor Austin outlines four ways God works: He hears (listening to the Israelites' groaning under oppression), He remembers (staying faithful to His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob), He sees (positioning Hebrew midwives Shiphrah and Puah to protect newborns), and He knows (providing Moses as a deliverer). Pastor Austin explains how God's "remembering" doesn't mean He forgot, but rather demonstrates His faithfulness to never abandon His promises. Even when Moses initially failed and fled to Midian, God was still working according to His perfect plan. The sermon's climax connects Moses to Jesus as the true and better deliverer. While Moses could only provide temporary deliverance from physical slavery, Jesus provides eternal deliverance from sin and death. Pastor Austin calls unbelievers to "cry out to God" for salvation, reminds Christians to remember God's faithfulness in their own salvation, and encourages all believers to "cling to the perfect deliverer" during current dark seasons, knowing that Jesus walks beside them and will one day lead them home to glory. Pastor Jared Richard delivered a timely message from Genesis 11:1-9 as Bay Leaf Baptist Church celebrates God's provision for their building project on Creedmoor Road. The Tower of Babel story reveals humanity's attempt to build a city and tower to make a name for themselves and avoid being scattered across the earth, directly disobeying God's command to fill the earth. Pastor Richard explained that while the unity and technological advancement displayed at Babel was impressive, the heart behind the project was flawed - it was motivated by human pride and the desire for security apart from God. The pastor drew important parallels to the church's building project, asking the crucial question: "Are we building for his name or our name?" He warned that it's entirely possible to build a church building while simultaneously building the Tower of Babel in our hearts. The sermon emphasized that we don't need to build towers to reach heaven because heaven already came down in Jesus Christ. Pastor Richard connected this to the gospel, showing how God's judgment at Babel was actually merciful - scattering humanity to prevent collective rebellion while ultimately pointing toward the true unity that comes through worship of Jesus Christ. He concluded by challenging the congregation to ensure all their works, including the Creedmoor Road project, are done for God's glory rather than their own, as only what is done for His glory will truly last. In this sermon on Genesis 6-9, Pastor Jared Richard demonstrates how the story of Noah functions as a "mini gospel" that prepares us for the greater story of Jesus Christ. Richard outlines five key elements: the problem of sin (humanity's complete depravity), the promise of judgment (God's wrath through the flood), the place of salvation (the ark), the partial fulfillment (Noah's eventual failure), and the perfect fulfillment (Jesus as the true and better Noah). Richard emphasizes that by Noah's time, human wickedness had become so pervasive that "every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time continually" (Genesis 6:5). God's judgment through the flood was both necessary and grievous to His heart. While Noah provided salvation for his family through the ark, his story ultimately ends in failure - naked, ashamed, and dead, just like Adam. This demonstrates that Noah was only a partial fulfillment of God's promise, pointing us to our need for something greater. Jesus Christ is that greater fulfillment - the true and better Noah who doesn't merely build an ark, but becomes the ark himself, willingly plunging beneath the flood of God's wrath so that all who are "in Him" can find not just salvation, but transformation. Richard concludes with an urgent call to come to Christ, the only place of safety from the coming judgment. WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU! Have you ever felt like a spare part in a machine that's already running fine without you? It's a common feeling, especially in large communities, but what if the very thing that makes you different is exactly what the “body” is missing? In this talk, we dive into the beautiful, messy reality of being “many parts but one body.” We explore how Jesus intentionally called a group of political and social opposites — people who likely wouldn't have shared a meal, let alone a mission — to show the world something radical. We tackle the tough questions: What actually blocks us from belonging? Is it our view of God, our low self-esteem, or perhaps the scars from past experiences where the “body” let us down? We're invited to reconsider our contribution, not as a burden, but as a vital function that only we can fulfill. This isn't about theory; it's about how our unity in diversity actually increases the credibility of Jesus' message to the world. If you've been keeping yourself at a distance, this is a warm invitation to take the risk of belonging again. Why settle for being a spectator when you were designed to be an essential part of the whole?

In this sermon on Genesis 3, Pastor Jared Richard addresses the fundamental question of why our world feels broken despite God creating it "very good." He explains that the problem isn't something happening around us, but something that happened within us - sin entered the world when Adam and Eve listened to the wrong voice in the garden. Pastor Richard breaks down Genesis 3 into two scenes. The first scene (verses 1-7) reveals Satan's scheme to destroy through his question "Did God really say?" The serpent works to make Eve doubt God's goodness, distort God's created order, and diminish God's glory. Adam fails in his role as leader and protector, staying silent while his wife is deceived. The second scene (verses 8-21) shows God's gracious response to human rebellion. Rather than destroying Adam and Eve in judgment, God pursues them in their hiding, asking "Where are you?" - not because He doesn't know, but to give them opportunity for confession and repentance. The sermon emphasizes that God's plan for restoration involves three key elements: He continues to pursue us in our sin, He will crush the head of our enemy (referencing Genesis 3:15 as the first gospel promise), and He covers our shame. Pastor Richard connects this directly to the gospel, showing how Jesus is the promised offspring who would crush Satan's head, and how God clothes us in Christ's righteousness just as He clothed Adam and Eve. The message calls listeners to stop hiding and blaming, and instead trust in God's goodness and His plan of redemption through Jesus Christ. WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU! Pastor Jared Richard begins this sermon by comparing the recent harsh winter weather in North Carolina to humanity's spiritual condition outside the Garden of Eden. Using Genesis 1:26-27 and Genesis 2:18-25, he explains that God created humans in His image to live in deep, life-giving relationships. Since God exists eternally in relationship as Trinity—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—we as His image bearers were designed for community and connection. The pastor emphasizes that "it is not good for man to be alone" (Genesis 2:18), showing that we need relationships with God, with creation, and especially with other human beings who are both similar to and different from us. Pastor Jared highlights marriage as the foundational human relationship, where "male and female" (Genesis 1:27) come together in complementary unity, reflecting God's own nature. He describes the original state of Adam and Eve as "naked and not ashamed" (Genesis 2:25), representing perfect intimacy without fear of rejection. However, sin has affected all relationships, creating shame and fear that drive us toward isolation. The solution comes through Christ, who died naked and shamed on the cross to remove our shame, enabling us to be fully known by God and accepted. When our relationship with God is restored through Jesus, all other relationships can begin to reflect the gospel's grace and truth. WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU! [THE DISTINCTIVE EDGE CLIENT CASE STUDY] What does it look like to move from "I'll join next year" to a full-body gut yes—and then watch your business immediately start to click? In this case study-style episode, I sit down with Deb Driscoll, founder of The Be Her Collective, whose North Star is "reminding women just how frickin' magical they are." Deb supports women to reclaim their intuitive wisdom, remember who they are, and step into heroine status—and reminded us all that intuition + strategy is a lethal combo when you finally give yourself permission to be fully seen. Deb shares the honest behind-the-scenes of what it felt like to invest (hello, excitement + nausea), how old scarcity stories almost kept her out, and why she decided TDE would be the "pathway, full stop." Then we get into what actually changed: the framework, the messaging clarity, and the (surprise!) sales support Deb didn't realize she needed—especially the power of private invites to enroll clients without a big launch. If you've ever felt like your work feels "too intangible" to explain clearly… or you're tired of spinning in circles trying five different strategies at once… this one will hit. In this episode, we cover: Why Deb joined The Distinctive Edge (TDE) and what made it feel like "the risk that has reward" The difference between a true "not now" and a scarcity-based "no" How Deb stopped the "I know so much" expert spiral by becoming a beginner again (TDE school energy) The real key to making a "vague" or intuitive transformation feel tangible and clear in your messaging Why your signature framework can become your one message, one mission across offers What made the material reviews so powerful (and why "knowing the why" matters) How Deb used private invites to start 2026 with clients already enrolled (without a traditional launch) The underrated ROI: community, connection, and not building your business alone Quotes you'll remember "This feels risky, but this is the risk that has reward." "I unsubscribed to so many people… I'm listening to myself, and I'm listening to Meg." "I start 2026 not just as a business owner. I'm a woman on a mission." In this sermon from Genesis 1-2, Pastor Jared Richard explored God's original design for human flourishing through the rhythm of work and rest. He demonstrated how God himself worked in creation—making, designing, and cultivating—then rested on the seventh day, not from exhaustion but to enjoy and reflect on his completed work. As image bearers of God, humans were created to follow this same pattern, with work being an act of sub-creation that reflects God's creative nature, and rest being a time to gain perspective and enjoy God's greater work. However, sin has broken this beautiful rhythm. We either reject God in our work by finding our identity and worth in our jobs, or we rebel against God in our rest by either working obsessively (thinking we're indispensable) or being lazy (avoiding our calling to work). Pastor Jared explained that this physical problem with work and rest is actually a symptom of a deeper spiritual problem. The solution comes through the gospel: Jesus' finished work on the cross provides the spiritual rest we need, allowing us to work from a place of rest rather than working to earn rest. When we find our identity and rest in Christ's completed work, our physical work can become an act of worship that brings glory to God and advances his kingdom. WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU! In this sermon "Who I am in light of who God is," Pastor Patrick Austin explored Genesis 1:26-31 to address the fundamental question of human identity in a world full of lies and confusion. He began by establishing that since the Bible starts with "In the beginning, God" rather than "In the beginning, man," we must understand ourselves in comparison to God, not as the standard ourselves. Pastor Austin presented four Biblical truths that counter prominent worldly lies about identity. First, we are created by God in His image, meaning we're designed to live godly lives and in relationship—not that we are God ourselves. Second, we are blessed with God-given purpose to fill the earth with worshipers and subdue creation through faithful stewardship—not to determine our own purpose. Third, we are sustained by God as dependent creatures who need our heavenly Father's provision—not self-sufficient beings. Fourth, we are loved by God, with Him declaring His creation "very good"—not unlovable as many believe. The pastor emphasized that Jesus Christ, as "the image of the invisible God" (Colossians 1:15), is the key to understanding our true identity. Only through Christ can we truly know what it means to be made in God's image and have our broken identity restored. Send us a textIn this episode, I reflect on how our choices quietly shape our children, and how one clear mission can become a silent lesson in balance, self-respect, and emotional safety. As I began choosing myself with intention, something beautiful happened without me realizing it, my child began to change too.She watched me stay calm without self-sacrifice. She saw me protect my energy without guilt. I didn't teach her through lectures or explanations.I taught her through priorities. As 2026 begins, this is not about resolutions or pressure. It's a gentle reset.I invite myself—and every beautiful soul listening—to pause and ask: What drains me the most? What truly gives me strength? What must I stop normalizing?Because when we write it down, protect it, and return to it with intention, clarity follows. May 2026 be lighter, calmer, and deeply aligned for me, and for you.Request all of you to listen to this show and share your views or if you have any topics or any thoughts about my podcast write to me at somathakur@gmail.com and follow me on Instagram @somathakur.mothercoach for more updates. Pastor Jared Richard began 2026 with a new sermon series on Genesis, starting with Genesis 1:1–5 and 1:26-31. He set the context by imagining the Israelites in the wilderness after the Exodus, questioning who this God was who had rescued them from Egypt. Richard argued that Genesis 1 was written primarily to answer “who” questions about God rather than “how” questions about the mechanics of creation, though he acknowledged that those questions still have importance. The pastor identified four key attributes of God revealed in Genesis 1. First, God is eternal. He has no beginning and exists before all creation. Second, God is singular. He is one God with no equals or competitors, though Richard noted the early hints of the Trinity in the text. Third, God is Creator who made everything powerfully by speaking, purposefully with intentional design, and personally with intimate involvement in the process. Fourth, God is good. He makes good things, enjoys His creation, and invites us to share in that enjoyment. Richard emphasized that understanding these attributes of God helps believers rest in His faithfulness and promises, knowing that nothing can stop His plans for salvation and new creation. In this final message of the Advent series, Pastor Billy Driver preaches from Matthew 2:1-12 about how people respond to the coming of Christ. He identifies three distinct responses to Jesus's birth: King Herod responded with hostility because he felt threatened and wanted to maintain his own power and throne; the chief priests and scribes responded with indifference, knowing the Scriptures intellectually but showing no interest in actually seeking the newborn Messiah just five miles away in Bethlehem; and the Magi responded with worship, traveling over a thousand miles to fall down and adore Christ with gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Pastor Driver emphasizes that the birth of Christ should shape our worship throughout the entire year, not just during the Christmas season. He challenges the congregation to avoid both hostility and indifference, instead responding like the Magi with faith that results in joyful worship. The sermon concludes with a call to repent and receive Christ as King, believe and trust Him by faith, and worship Him with exceeding great joy, followed by an invitation to the Lord's Supper as a response of remembrance and renewal. In this Christmas sermon from Isaiah 35, Pastor Jared Richard used the universal desire to go home for the holidays as a gateway to discuss our deeper spiritual longing for our true home with God. He explained that Isaiah 35 describes two contrasting places - the wilderness and desert representing our current broken world, versus the paradise of Lebanon, Carmel, and Sharon representing the home God has prepared for us. Pastor Richard walked through multiple layers of this prophetic passage, beginning with God's promise to bring exiled Israel home from Babylon, then expanding to humanity's exile from Eden due to sin, and ultimately pointing to Jesus as the solution. He emphasized that Jesus willingly left his perfect home in heaven, was born in exile-like conditions in a stable, was rejected by his own people, and died on the cross bearing our judgment so that we could return home to the Father. The sermon concluded with three applications: receiving the hope of Christ's salvation, following Christ's example in reconciling broken relationships, and rejoicing with fellow believers as we journey toward our eternal home together. Pastor Jared Richard explores Isaiah 11's unique "Christmas tree"—not a decorated evergreen, but a stump with a shoot and root—as a powerful gospel metaphor. The stump represents God's judgment on pride, showing how "God will always humble the proud" as He did with Israel and Assyria. From this apparent death springs the shoot, a greater David who will establish a perfect kingdom where "the wolf will dwell with the lamb" (Isaiah 11:6) and all creation finds peace. Most remarkably, this king is also the root of Jesse, revealing Jesus as both descendant and divine source—the God-man who offers surprising eternal life. Pastor Richard urges us not to place our hope in an idealized past but in Christ's future kingdom, where all brokenness will be healed and "the earth will be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea" (Isaiah 11:9). In this sermon on Isaiah 9, Pastor Jared Richard explores how God prepared for Christmas centuries before Christ's birth. Using the analogy of a Ferrero Rocher chocolate with its layers, Pastor Richard unpacks three prophetic layers: the failure of faithless King Ahaz who trusted Assyria rather than God, the promise of a greater king described with four divine titles (Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace), and finally the arrival of Jesus as the fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy. The sermon highlights how we, like Ahaz, often seek peace through human wisdom, politics, wealth, or idolatry instead of trusting God. Just as God demonstrated His power through weakness when Gideon defeated the Midianites, He sent His Son as a child to conquer our greatest enemies—sin, Satan, and death. While Christ's first coming allows us peace with God, we await His return for the complete fulfillment of Isaiah's promise of eternal peace. WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU! In this sermon "Comfort in Sorrow," Pastor Patrick Austin begins a new Advent series exploring passages in Isaiah that prepare our hearts to celebrate Christ's coming. Focusing on Isaiah 40:1-11, Pastor Austin observes that while the Christmas season offers temporary comforts through traditions and material things, we're all searching for something deeper—a comfort that truly saves and soothes our weary souls. The sermon reveals that just as the Israelites in Babylonian exile needed God's comfort, we too need the same message: "Comfort, comfort my people, says your God" (Isaiah 40:1). Pastor Austin explains how this passage points to Christ in three ways: the promise of comfort (God's forgiveness and love), the person of comfort (Jesus as the fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy), and the proclamation of comfort (the good news that Jesus has come and will come again). He concludes with practical applications: rest in God's promise that He hasn't forgotten us, receive Jesus as the only true source of comfort, and proclaim this message to others who are searching for hope during the Christmas season. In this sermon "Wisdom in Prayer," Pastor Billy Driver examines James 5:13-20, explaining that prayer reveals the true condition of our hearts and is foundational to Christian life. He outlines three key expectations: God wants individuals to pray in every circumstance (both suffering and joy), pastors to pray for their people (especially during sickness), and congregations to pray for one another. Pastor Driver clarifies that the "prayer of faith" isn't a formula guaranteeing specific outcomes but a posture of complete dependence on God's sovereign will. Using Elijah as an example, he reminds us that even this great prophet was "a man with a nature like ours" who prayed fervently and saw God move powerfully. The sermon concludes with the story behind the hymn "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," emphasizing that prayer is our lifeline to God's power and grace. WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU! In this sermon from James 5:7-12, Pastor Jared Richard explores how the promise of Christ's return should shape our lives and ministry. Drawing from Jesus' parable in Luke 19 about a nobleman who entrusts resources to his servants before departing, Pastor Richard emphasizes that Jesus has entrusted us with His kingdom work and will one day return to evaluate our faithfulness. When we establish our hearts on Christ's return—intentionally dwelling on this reality—it produces spiritual fruit, particularly patience and steadfastness during hardship. The sermon clarifies that Jesus' return will be unmistakable, unpredictable, unparalleled, and unstoppable. For believers, this day should inspire joy rather than fear, as Christ's posture toward faithful servants is one of commendation, not condemnation. Pastor Richard concludes by challenging Bay Leaf Baptist Church to use every resource God has entrusted to them for kingdom purposes, so they might be found faithful when Christ returns. In his sermon on James 4:11-5:6, Pastor Jared Richard explores how pride—which God hates—is the root of all sin. Using the metaphor of invasive weeds that must be pulled from the root, Pastor Richard identifies three manifestations of pride that threaten the Christian heart. First, a judgmental view of others reveals we've forgotten our own sinfulness and God's mercy toward us. Second, a presumptuous view of the future shows we're planning without acknowledging God's sovereignty, forgetting that "this is the day that the Lord has made" (Psalm 118:24). Third, a self-indulgent view of wealth demonstrates we've forgotten that "the earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof" (Psalm 24:1). The solution to pride isn't simply behavior modification but remembering who God is—sovereign, holy, and gracious—which properly reorients our understanding of ourselves. When we humble ourselves before God, submitting to His lordship in every area of life, He promises to lift us up. This begins with repentance and faith in Christ for salvation and continues as we allow the Holy Spirit to root out pride in our daily lives. WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU! Pastor Jared Richard examines James 4:1-10, comparing church conflict to an autoimmune disease where the body mistakenly attacks itself. Just as autoimmune diseases cause the body's defense system to malfunction, spiritual conflict causes believers to view fellow church members as enemies rather than brothers and sisters in Christ. The root of this problem lies not between us but within us—our wrong desires, pride, and jealousy create internal war that manifests as external conflict. James uses strong language of "war" and "murder" to emphasize how devastating church conflict is to the body of Christ. Pastor Jared shares his personal experience with a church split over music styles, illustrating how such division permanently damages relationships and distracts from the gospel. The cure for this spiritual disease is God's grace, which humbles us and draws us near to Him. As James 4:6 reminds us, "God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble." Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. Rev. Shah Ahmadi with Iran Alive Ministry reminds us that the Church of Jesus Christ is one family—united around the world in the mission of sharing the Gospel. “Share the Gospel and pray and just go and say, you are my brother. You are my sister. We are from same nation. But above from that, even when I'm not from same nation, we are children of God. We are saved by grace of God. Jesus died on the cross for us. Let's do together.” That's what the body of Christ looks like—believers standing shoulder to shoulder across nations and languages, proclaiming the same Good News. Some face challenges and danger, yet they continue to share because they know that every person needs to hear what Jesus has done. We are one Church with one message and one mission: that the whole world might hear and know the saving grace of Jesus Christ. To watch the full interview with the Rev. How is the gospel threatened? In this episode of Light + Truth, John Piper opens Galatians 2:1–10 to show how adding works ends grace and how the apostles united for one mission.
In this sermon on James 3:1-12, Pastor Jared Richard examines how our words reveal the condition of our hearts. He explains that God has given humans the unique ability to speak as image-bearers of a speaking God, making our tongues powerful instruments that can either build up or destroy. Pastor Jared illustrates how the tongue, though small, functions like a rudder that can guide an entire ship or a spark that can set a forest ablaze. The central question Pastor Jared poses is whether our words evidence a heart ruled by Christ and under the control of God's Word. He reminds us that we cannot tame our tongues on our own strength (James 3:8), but through the Gospel, Christ can transform our hearts and therefore our speech. When our words are aligned with Scripture, they bring life, order, peace, and healing to others. Pastor Jared challenges us to consider if what we say is "true, kind, and necessary," so our speech glorifies God rather than staining our testimony. WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!
