Locked On Chargers - Daily Podcast On The Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers struck gold hiring Jim Harbaugh to be their head coach and according to the Athletic, NFL coaches and executives agree that he was the best hire in this coaching cycle. Some question if his offense will work in the modern NFL, but the Chargers are giving themselves and Justin Herbert the best chance. Dan and David discuss their trust in Harbaugh's vision and new Senior Offensive Assistant Marc Trestman. Trestman went down in flames in the NFL before, but he also has led some of the league's most prolific passing attacks. The Chargers have many re-treads on their offensive coaching staff, but Harbaugh has come up with a staff so crazy it might just be awesome. Defensively, Los Angeles have sacrificed NFL experience for youth and innovation. Along with Jesse Minter, the Chargers have scooped up almost the entirety of Michigan's defensive staff and that continuity is something Brandon Staley failed to bring.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!eBay MotorsFor parts that fit, head to eBay Motors and look for the green check. The Bears finally have a new opponent, so Remember This Crap returns from hiatus to look back at all of the great games in the history of Bears-Eagles. And, after some digging they actually found a few. They have a storied playoff history and the Bears actually won one of them...but nobody could see it. Great QB matchups abound like Mike Tomczak v. Bubby Brister, Jonathan Quinn's greatest NFL game, and Randall Cunningham throwing a ridiculous amount of passes in two matchups against the mighty Vince Tobin defense. Of course there's Mike Ditka v. Buddy Ryan, Dick Vermeil crying, and jokes about Donovan McNabb barfing on the field during a Super Bowl. A failed senate candidate played running back in two of the matchups, Marc Trestman's lost 50-burger occurred in this series and who could ever forget Wendell Davis leaving his kneecaps at the Vet and Cade McNown losing his throwing shoulder on the sidelines? All that, plus Greasey Neale and much, much more. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/desipio/message
In the first hour, Dan Bernstein and Laurence Holmes listened back to Bears coach Matt Eberflus' press conference Monday, when he delivered remarks reminiscent of former Chicago coach Marc Trestman. They also listened and reacted Eberflus' comments about quarterback Justin Fields' health after he suffered a left shoulder injury in the team's loss Sunday. Later, Bernstein and Holmes shared their takeaways from the Bulls' 121-107 win over the Celtics on Monday.
The long, illustrious list of teams the Bears have beaten in the Super Bowl begins and ends with the mighty New England Patriots. But there's so much more to know about them. For instance, why did Matt Millen punch out their general manager on the field after a playoff game? How did the Sullivan family go bankrupt just a year after Super Bowl XX? They sold the team to a guy who sold it in disgrace just three years later, but what savvy guy bought their stadium out from under them in bankruptcy court? Who was James Ornstein and why did he only own the team for two years? What does Bob Kraft like to do to unwind before big playoff games--wait, let's not talk about that. Who almost drafted Tom Brady before the Patriots could get him? Why did Bill Parcells quit after taking them to a Super Bowl and why didn't Bill Belichick take over then? Why am I typing in all questions? We unearth a rare Bears win this series and neither of us could remember that it ever happened. We also re-live the first of two humiliating defeats in the final days of the Marc Trestman era that bookended a bye week. Yikes. We talk about Belichick tying Papa Bear George Halas' all-time wins mark, and Bill nerding out with Ed Reed about what Belichick insists is the greatest play he's ever seen a free safety make. And, we come to the definitive answer on who was more instrumental in the Patriots' dynasty, Belichick or Tom Brady. Plus, why Michigan could never just make Tom their starting quarterback. All that, and more. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/desipio/message
In the final hour, Orlando and Cecil reacted to Marc Trestman's comments on how Russell Wilson is making the Broncos better. Did Wilson go to the perfect situation in Denver? Cecil then explained what the secret ingredient is for the Broncos to have success. How important is the language and communication to Wilson as he gets ready for the season? See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Episode 2 of "Year 1 Rewind" examines Marc Trestman's first year as the Bears head coach in 2013 and compares it to what Matt Eberflus is walking into with this current Bears team. The crew also touches on the latest Bears news which includes a trade, a firing and some legal trouble...
Co-hosts Justin Dunk, John Hodge, and J.C. Abbott discuss Marc Trestman calling the recent discussion regarding CFL rules a distraction, John Metchie III winning the Jon Cornish Trophy for the second consecutive year, our CFL poll of people in downtown Toronto, Winnipeg signing former all-star receiver Jalen Saunders, and Cody Fajardo feeling motivated by Chris Jones' comments. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In the final hour, Danny Parkins and Matt Spiegel pondered what lies ahead for the Bears in the coming days. With Matt Nagy likely coaching his last game Sunday afternoon, let's take a listen back to the last press conferences of Bears coaches who were fired. Notice some similarities? Then, Bulls executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas was on the Mully & Haugh Show earlier this morning. We hear some of that.

Unless you're a member of the 2009 Montreal Alouettes or a die hard fan, the mistake made in the Grey Cup game that year is what will be remembered by most who think about it. The city of Cleveland watched its pro sports teams suffer for 52 long, miserable years before its championship drought ended in 2016. Pins in the tragic roadmap of that journey include The Drive and The Fumble for the Browns; The Shot and The Decision for the Cavaliers and The Catch and a couple of curses for the baseball team. They're the kinds of things that can haunt teams and cities, that worm their way into the psyche of fans and sometimes even the teams themselves. A similar moment was created for Riders fans on Nov. 29, 2009. We'll probably always think of The 13th Man when we look back to that game but when you look at it from the Alouettes' perspective, that's somewhat unfair. As then-Als head coach Marc Trestman explains there were 100 other moments in that classic of a game that helped shape the outcome and it wasn't just the one that lives forever in highlight packs.
