These opening verses of Psalm 50 provide a wonderful and really awesome picture of the nature and character of God, the character and work of Christ, especially that which Asaph points you to in the judgment that is to come with you. The Almighty God speaks and summons. Christ comes in perfect judgment with fire. He who is Faithful and True carries out that judgment in righteousness. This is utter joy to you, the godly, as much as it's a terror to the wicked.

Do you see Christ's power and goodness? Do you see your great need for and dependence on Him? Jesus knows that just like the disciples you and I so easily forget how dependent we are on Him. It's easy for you to forget how powerful He is to provide for all of your needs, especially when you can't see how He possibly could. You are called to trust Him for your daily bread and daily mercy and thankfully receive them when He gives them to you.
