What is God's intended purpose for our sexuality? We confront several significant transgressions that hinder this design. These offenses include lust, the consumption of pornography, and engagement in prostitution. Fr. Mike offers us a poignant reminder that despite these sins, our intrinsic human dignity remains unblemished and worthy of reverence. Today's readings are Catechism paragraphs 2351-2356. This conversation delves into the complexities of criminal law, focusing on derivative liability, complicity, solicitation, conspiracy, and attempt. The discussion highlights the importance of understanding the nuances of mens rea and actus reus, as well as the implications of legal standards and human psychology in the application of these laws. The conversation emphasizes the need for clarity in legal definitions and the potential for bias in judicial outcomes. In the realm of criminal law, understanding the nuances of derivative liability and inchoate offenses is crucial for both students and practitioners. These areas, often perceived as complex, require a deep dive into the principles of policy, specific intent, and the systematic application of rules.Derivative Liability: Derivative liability, particularly accomplice liability, holds individuals accountable for crimes committed by others if they assist or encourage the crime with a shared criminal purpose. The law requires affirmative assistance, not mere presence, to establish liability. This principle ensures that only those who actively contribute to a crime are held responsible.Inchoate Offenses: Inchoate offenses, such as solicitation, conspiracy, and attempt, focus on the intent and actions leading up to a crime. Solicitation is complete upon the request to commit a crime, while conspiracy involves an agreement to commit a crime, often requiring an overt act. Attempt, on the other hand, punishes those who take substantial steps towards committing a crime, even if the crime is not completed. The Role of Intent: Intent plays a pivotal role in these legal concepts. For accomplice liability, dual intent is necessary: the intent to aid and the mens rea for the target crime. In inchoate offenses, specific intent is paramount, guiding the legal standards for solicitation, conspiracy, and attempt. Conclusion: Navigating the complexities of derivative liability and inchoate offenses requires a thorough understanding of both the legal definitions and their practical applications. As future legal professionals, recognizing the human elements that influence legal judgments is essential for striving towards justice.Subscribe now to stay informed on the latest insights in criminal law.TakeawaysDerivative liability involves holding individuals accountable for crimes committed by others.Understanding the difference between common law and model penal code rules is crucial.Active involvement is necessary for complicity; mere presence is not enough.Omission can lead to liability if there is a legal duty to act.The Pinkerton rule expands liability to foreseeable consequences of conspiratorial actions. The model penal code focuses on individual culpability rather than broad liability.Solicitation is complete upon the act of asking someone to commit a crime.Conspiracy does not merge with the completed crime, allowing for separate charges.Specific intent is required for both conspiracy and attempt.Legal standards can be influenced by human psychology and biases.criminal law, derivative liability, complicity, solicitation, conspiracy, attempt, mens rea, actus reus, legal standards, bias

Tap here to send us a message!Offenses will come to every believer, but it is our response that reveals the condition of our heart. Though people will mistreat, wound, and disappoint us, Jesus calls us to release bitterness, extend mercy, and refuse the trap of offense. When we choose forgiveness over resentment, God pours out blessing, peace, and the same mercy we have shown to others.10/19/2025 - Sunday Afternoon Scriptures:Luke 10:25-29Ephesians 2:4Psalm 103:8Psalm 118:24Lamentations 3:22-23Psalm 107:1-2Matthew 6:14-15Proverbs 11:17Psalm 119:165Luke 17:1Proverbs 19:11Luke 6:36-38Matthew 5:7Matthew 7:1-2Psalm 103:13-14I John 4:7-8, 11Mark 12:31Romas 5:5Ephesians 2:4Ephesians 4:32Luke 10:25, 36-37Micah 7:18Acts 5:41James 2:13Matthew 5:7Habakkuk 3:2

This message continues the series by emphasizing that the real war is internal, not external. It's easier to blame others, but spiritual maturity demands we examine ourselves.Recap of Parts 1 & 2:* Tradition: Keeps us stuck in the past, resistant to change, and limits God's move.* Religion: Focuses on form over transformation, blocks God's power, and prioritizes appearance over relationship.Part 3: Offense – A Trap That Derails DestinyKey Scripture:Luke 17:1 (NKJV) – "It is impossible that no offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come."Jesus makes it clear: Offenses are unavoidable, but how we handle them is our responsibility. What Is Offense?* Offense is a satanic trap (Greek: skandalon – a baited trap).* It is designed to steal your blessings, destroy relationships, fracture churches, and delay your destiny.* When you're offended, you get stuck in time – emotionally and spiritually frozen in the moment of the hurt.Common Sources of Offense:* Small slights (someone didn't speak to you).* Misunderstandings.* Betrayals, disappointments, or unmet expectations.* Even hearing a sermon on a topic like tithing or truth can offend people. Key Insights:1. You control whether you get offended. * Offense is a choice. * Don't let small things derail your faith.2. Offense poisons your perception. * You start seeing people through the lens of past hurts. * Leads to distrust, bitterness, and judgment.3. Holding on to offense halts your progress. * You may grow older but regress spiritually. * Time stops where offense is held onto.4. Offense is emotional debt. * Rehearsing the offense is like paying interest on a debt Jesus already canceled.5. Maturity means letting things go. * Sensible people overlook offenses (Proverbs 19:11). * Letting go is taking your power back.Practical Applications:* Let it go. Don't let offenses live rent-free in your heart.* Don't magnify small things. Not everything is a personal attack.* Don't make life decisions (like relationships) from an offended place. You may miss blessings.* Don't let offense silence your calling. Keep serving God despite the hurt. Offense in the Church:* Many people leave churches due to offense, not doctrine.* People get offended by truth (especially about giving, accountability, etc.).* But don't confuse offense with conviction—God uses truth to transform.Closing Call:* Don't live your life in spiritual regression.* Offense is a choice and a trap—one that will steal your future if you let it.* Release the offense, trust God with your hurt, and move forward into your calling. In conclusion:Offense is unavoidable, but staying offended is a choice. Let go of the pain, or you'll forfeit your purpose. Grow in spiritual maturity by refusing to be trapped by the enemy's bait.

The best way is to, as Prabhupada said, train your eyes to spot offenses and take the ten offenses as very important. Don't take it as rote, that it's something we recite early in the morning before we start chanting. Instead, look into it and see how you can integrate those prohibitions into your lifestyle. And that's the only blockade between us and śuddha-nāma. As Bhaktivinoda points out in the Harir Nāma Cintāmaṇi, there are clouds and mist that block us from getting the full effect of the holy name. Those come in the form of aparādhas. Apa- rādha means we're not worshiping properly; we're making some offense. So, there are offenses to the holy name, offenses to devotees, and offenses in worshiping Krishna. If we study these very carefully and practice avoiding them as much as possible, then we move very quickly into the nāmābhāsa stage. In fact, just the endeavor to remove offenses means that we are in nāmābhāsa. When we're not, when we don't care for the offenses—in other words, we're not thinking about it, we're just chanting and we don't attend to the offenses, meaning we don't try to remove them, we are not vigilant—then we are a nāmāparādha. So, cultivate those and try to vigilantly avoid them. Then the holy name starts shining through much more quickly, and we can rise to the point of śuddha-nāma by that process: chanting and avoiding offenses. This is confirmed by Śrīla Bhaktisiddhānta Sarasvatī Ṭhākura, who says it's not just chanting Hare Krishna through which we attain perfection, but it's chanting Hare Krishna and avoiding the offenses at the same time. Of course, if one is offensive and you don't know how to avoid offenses, then the Padma Purāṇa says: nāmāparādha-yuktānāṁ nāmāny eva haranty agham aviśrānti-prayuktāni tāny evārtha-karāṇi ca Then, just chant non-stop. Don't stop chanting so that your mouth says some offensive thing. Just keep chanting and don't stop, and then you'll develop the intelligence to avoid offenses. ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/ https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/ https://thefourquestionsbook.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #makejapagreatagain #mantrameditation #chantharekrishnaandbehappy #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

EVENT REMINDERS: Come see me in CHICAGO TONIGHT at 6PM. U-M Club of Fairfield is hosting an online Q&A at noon tomorrow. And then Monday, August 25 is U-M Club of Greater Detroit's kickoff w/ me, Isaiah and Henschke, and hosted by Ira. Things Discussed: The NCAA's NOA: Not surprised it was nonsense; not surprised it was just money because they can't risk operating this anywhere that facts matter. Surprised how little they actually had. They only had one two witnesses, both of them whom the report called liars, for Signgate, and one witness, whom the report also called a liar. Whenever evidence was presented it undermined their conclusions. This was, from the start, about getting Harbaugh out of college football, because he was not wired for putting up with their bullshit. Sherrone--and this comes off in the report and in his response--is one who knows how to play ball. That's all they want: is for you to tell them they're relevant. If you play ball (Sherrone, Compliance, Partridge) they praise you; if you expose them for the frauds they are, they'll do all they can. Nobody still staying it mattered is someone you ever have to listen to again. Michigan got better without Stalions. They were that good because they were better football players. I never want to hear Stalions's name again, because it just takes away from the actual accomplishments of Mike Sainristil. Game in Germany? Not 100% sure it's happening. Me: whatever. I'm not gonna go to Europe to see one of my teams; I want to go to Europe to see Europe. Savion Hiter: The balance stands out. He has a Beastquake on his highlights: Reminds me of watching Ricky Powers as a kid. Comp will probably be Corum. Big Nickel: The math is when on offense removes a slot for a TE they still have a lot of receiving ability on the field; when Michigan matches by removing a DB for a DT they now have to match the TE with somebody else, and thus far it's been the SAM: Harrell, Stewart, Guy. Offenses in the NFL have been exploiting that so defenses have come up with big nickels (e.g. Kyle Hamilton) in place of their SAMs who still have the length to hold an edge in the run game against a TE but can also cover a TE down the field. Mason Curtis has the perfect build for it. Questions people ask on the road? How good is Bryce, what will the offense look like, who is this guy Craig Ross?
There isn't a perfect defensive scheme in football. Let's say that again, there isn't a perfect defensive scheme in football. They all work. Pro's and Con's… sure they exist. But, the truth is, every modern defense should be able to work successfully against any offensive scheme, you just have to remain adaptable. On this episode Joe Daniel and Daniel Chamberlain talk about adapting your defense to whatever you'll see this season, how you can shut down the spread specifically, and coaching your defense to SWARM the football!
