The book of Acts tells the story of how the Risen Christ advances His kingdom through the proclamation of gospel, resulting in a growing church, who is continually sent on mission. We have highlighted throughout our study how this book is full of, “The Joy of Gospel Advancement.” So as we reflect on what we've seen and look ahead to what lies before us, we are invited into this same joy.
Senior Pastor, Dr. Kurt Bjorklund, explores John 21:1-19, revealing how Jesus meets us exactly where we are—even in our insecurity and failure—while inviting us to something greater than worldly comfort and priorities. Through Peter's restoration after denying Christ, we learn that God's grace empowers us to follow Him despite our shortcomings, challenging us to invest our lives in what truly matters beyond this world.Message Transcript - https://www.orchardhillchurch.com/blog-post/2025/5/19/encountering-the-risen-christ-5-insecuritySubscribe to Orchard Hill Plus! - https://orchardhillplus.buzzsprout.com/shareConnect with Orchard Hill ChurchWebsite | https://www.orchardhillchurch.comMobile App | https://https://www.orchardhillchurch.com/appYouTube | https://www.youtube.com/channel/OrchardHillChurchPAFacebook | https://www.facebook.com/orchardhillchurch/Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/orchardhillchurch/Twitter | https://twitter.com/orchard_hill

Russ Brasher and Emily DeAngelo explore John 20:24-31, revealing how Jesus compassionately meets Thomas in his doubts, demonstrating that our questions aren't obstacles but opportunities for deeper faith. Their message offers profound hope that Jesus isn't intimidated by our uncertainties but instead uses them to strengthen our belief, encouraging us to bring our doubts directly to Him rather than hiding them.Message Transcript - https://www.orchardhillchurch.com/blog-post/2025/5/12/encountering-the-risen-christ-4-doubtSubscribe to Orchard Hill Plus! - https://orchardhillplus.buzzsprout.com/shareConnect with Orchard Hill ChurchWebsite | https://www.orchardhillchurch.comMobile App | https://https://www.orchardhillchurch.com/appYouTube | https://www.youtube.com/channel/OrchardHillChurchPAFacebook | https://www.facebook.com/orchardhillchurch/Instagram | https://www.instagram.com/orchardhillchurch/Twitter | https://twitter.com/orchard_hill

Jesus comes to the disciples, who had locked themselves away for fear of what might happen. Jesus comes through the locked doors and calls them to be apostles. Today, we look at the disciples' interaction with the Risen Christ on this 2nd Sunday of the Easter Season. Thank you again for worshipping with us. Father shows us through the apostle Philip how we can lead people to the Word of God.
The resurrection is not just something that happened 2000 years ago, but something that Jesus wants to do in our souls today. Dr. Sri explains how the risen Lord is a wounded surgeon who enters the depths of our sufferings to bring new life, restoration, and wholeness. Most importantly, the resurrection of Jesus doesn't just fix things; it makes all things new. Snippet from the Show " The Resurrection of Jesus doesn't just restore things to the way things used to be; it makes all things new." _ _ For full shownotes, visit Ascensionpress.com/Allthingscatholic, or text ALLTHINGSCATHOLIC to 33-777 for weekly shownotes sent to your inbox.
When it comes to faith, some need more proof than others. After the resurrection, John believed at the sight of the empty tomb, while others—like Thomas—needed more. In this message, we explore how doubt and belief coexisted in Jesus' followers and how we, too, must decide: will we trust what we've been shown, or demand more evidence? Which disciple are you?
Dr. Kurt Bjorklund continues the Encountering the Risen Christ series looking at John 20:19-23. Experience how encountering the risen Christ brings genuine peace and a transformative mission to share this peace with others—not through self-righteous moral demands but as "one beggar showing another beggar where they found bread," offering hope to all who know they're insufficient on their own. Sermon by Steve Stone Jr.For our current sermon series - Up Close: Encounters with the Risen LordScripture Reading: John 20:19-23
Fr. Ken reflects on the transforming love of the Risen Christ, who restores and calls us—like Peter—not through perfection, but through love and grace. He reminds us that our failures do not disqualify us from discipleship; instead, they become opportunities for God's mercy to work through us. Fr. Walsh then celebrates the First Communicants, reminding them and all of us that receiving Jesus is both a gift and a call to follow Him with joy, humility, and faith.
In St. John's Gospel, Jesus's third appearance happens after a night of fruitless fishing for the apostles. Our Lord's intervention makes up abundantly for the lack of success they had that night. Our lives too are often marked by apparent failure and frustration. Like the apostles, this can be made right by a new encounter with the Risen Christ. https://comeawaybyyourselves.com
Friends of the Rosary, Today, the Third Sunday of Easter, the main reading in the Gospel (St. John, 21:1-19) recounts the Risen Christ's appearance and the conferring of the Primacy of Peter. This promise that Simon would be the foundation, the source of strength and unity, in the new Christian community, was made factual on the occasion described here by John. His fellow Apostles and the first Christians recognized this position of authority, and it is evident in almost every page of Acts, the book that describes the infant Church. In today's reading, the apostles' fishing expedition is also highlighted as a symbol of the Church (the barque of Peter) across space and time, with its apostolic task of seeking souls.Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. After receiving Jesus in the Most Holy Eucharist, He asks each of us: “Do you love me more than these?” As we return to our pews, it's the perfect time to respond with love, gratitude, and commitment. Let the Risen Christ speak to your heart today. Happy Easter! Hallelujah!
In this moving homily on one of his favourite Gospel passages, Fr. Michael reflects on Peter's journey from control to surrender. Through the Risen Christ's tender questions—“Do you love me?”—Peter is restored and made ready for the Cross he once feared. Fr. Michael draws us into Peter's humanity and invites us to follow Christ not according to our plans, but with open hands, even when love takes us where we do not want to go.

When fishermen set sail, Deacon Marlowe Sabater says, they place one foot on the deck—and the other, unknowingly, “in the watery grave, because you just won't know what's gonna happen out there.” Born and raised in Metro Manila, Marlowe now ministers to seafarers and port workers—many of them migrant workers from his native Philippines—through the Diocese of Honolulu's Apostleship of the Sea ministry. Facing unpredictable storms and countless dangers at sea, every safe return to shore, he says, is “an everyday miracle.” Marlowe is our guest on “Preach” for the Third Sunday of Easter. In his homily, he reflects on the Gospel story of the risen Christ meeting his disciples on the shore and connects it to the faith of those who work and live at sea today. In conversation with host Ricardo da Silva, S.J., Marlowe draws even further from his ministry—meeting workers at the docks to pray with them, to minister to them and to share the trust that sustains us all amid life's storms: “When Jesus is in our boat, he has the capability of calming the storm of our lives.” When he's not at the ambo, on the docks or behind a desk, Marlowe finds his anchor in family life with his wife, Maggie, and their two sons. He credits Maggie as his “editor in chief,” offering the honest feedback every preacher needs. “Sometimes she'll read my homily and say, ‘I don't feel it,'” he says. “And it's back to the drawing board—and she's always right.” Get daily Scripture reflections and support “Preach” by becoming a digital subscriber to America Magazine “Preach” is made possible through the generous support of the Compelling Preaching Initiative, a project of Lilly Endowment Inc. St. Peter's bold speech before the Sanhedrin reveals how he has grown in faith through his encounter with the Risen Christ and the fullness of the Holy Spirit. (Lectionary #265) April 25, 2025 - Cathedral Rectory - Superior, WI Fr. Andrew Ricci - www.studyprayserve.com
Readings for Divine Mercy Sunday - Acts 5:12-16; John 20:19-31How would it feel to you to go around for the rest of your life with an adjective attached to your name that seemed to denigrate you? I don't think any of us would like that. And yet we still refer to Thomas as Doubting Thomas. But really, Thomas wasn't a bad guy at all. He had courage. And more importantly, he knew what he needed to grow in his faith of the Risen Christ. Can we say the same about us? What is it we need today in order for our faith in this incredible miracle to grow?As we move through this Easter Octave and season, we keep Pope Francis and the upcoming conclave in our prayers. May those involved in the conclave open their hearts minds, ears and eyes to the presence and invitation of the Spirit in their selection. And thank you to all of you for continuing to listen to and share this podcast. I'm incredibly humbled. Have a question or comment? I can be reached at pdjoezenk@gmail.com

Send us a textEarly released program for Easter Weekend (April 19, 2025)The prophets foretold Him. The gospels reveal Him. The epistles explain Him. All of Scripture exalts Him.“Him” being Jesus Christ, the God-man who lived among us, was crucified by those He created, miraculously rose from the grave, and then ascended alive into heaven. This is way beyond the “greatest story ever told”. Rather, Jesus Christ is the greatest One who ever lived. His crucifixion, burial, resurrection is the greatest, most significant event in human history.Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me” (John 14:6).Scripture also says, “For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself as a ransom for all, the testimony given at the proper time” (1 Timothy 2:5).This Easter weekend, we're going to talk about “the man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all”. We'll examine the most detailed Old Testament prophecy about Him in Isaiah 53 and see how it was precisely fulfilled. We'll also hear some of the most profound hymns about Christ's sacrificial death for man.We hope your Easter is made more meaningful as you listen to this special edition of The Christian Worldview.--------------------Related Resources:Why Would Anyone Follow Jesus?
The first witnesses of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ were some of his female disciples. Mary Magdalene witnessed the empty tomb and was the first to encounter the risen Savior. Additionally, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and other unnamed women, who had come to the tomb to anoint the body of Jesus, saw the empty tomb and reported it to the apostles. In this episode, Professor Gaye Strathearn explores the profound impact of the Easter events through the experiences of the women who witnessed the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. She explains how Luke's narrative, with support from the other Gospels, connects these women to Jesus's ministry in Galilee and portrays them as dedicated disciples who ministered to Jesus and followed him to Jerusalem. Further, the discussion underscores the women's loyalty and sacrifice, emphasizing their presence at the Crucifixion and their discovery of the empty tomb. In exploring these narratives, we can increase our knowledge of the enduring hope and faith that the Easter events inspire and add our own witness that “he is risen” (Mark 16:6).
