“When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.” (Isaiah 43:2–3 NLT) Have you ever gone through a hard time and wondered where God was? I can tell you where He was: He was right there with you. Not only that, but He will be with you tomorrow and the day after. And He will be with you on the day you leave this earth for Heaven. In Isaiah 43:2–3, God says, “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior” (NLT). You’ll notice that He doesn’t say, “I will keep you in the shallow end.” He doesn’t say, “I will make sure that you stay on the riverbank.” He doesn’t say, “I will keep you a safe distance from the fire.” God doesn’t promise comfort. The paths He lays out for us aren’t always smooth and level. He doesn’t guarantee a life free from failure, devastation, pain, anxiety, loneliness, or doubt. He guarantees that you will never face any of those things alone. You will never have to rely solely on your own strength to endure any of them. The psalmist David wrote, “Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me. Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me” (Psalm 23:4 NLT). God is with you. He will be with you. You don’t have to fear evil. God will be with you on your good days and on your bad days. He will be with you in your grief of a lost loved one and in your joy of a baby’s birth. You don’t have to be afraid. Jesus said, “I will never fail you. I will never abandon you” (Hebrews 13:5 NLT). Also, the Bible tells us, “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8 NLT). There will never come a time when He changes His mind and leaves you. Sometimes when we pray, it may seem as though God is late in answering. Sometimes when God comes through for us, it is later than we expected. God is never late. His delays are delays of love. Even God’s silence can be a silence of love. He wants us to pour our hearts out to Him. He will enter into that pain with us. He will answer in the way He chooses. Call on Him. Reflection question: What does it mean to you that God is always present in the midst of pain, suffering, and struggle? No matter where we are, God's redemption and love are personal, purposeful, and ongoing — inviting us to connect with Him and each other.

A man who will be "a light to the Gentiles" and who will "open the eyes of the blind and set the prisoners free."It's easy to see how Christians believe Isaiah was predicting the arrival of Jesus. But the prophet promises action much sooner, and much closer to home.In a move unprecedented in Near Eastern history, Persia's king will set his Israelite captives free. Isaiah predicts this, and its easy to see how people join the dots: if the prophet called the release from exile ahead of time, who's to say he wasn't not right about everything else?Written and produced by Chas BayfieldMusic by Michael Auld and Jon Hawkins MusicCover art by Lisa GoffSend any comments or feedback to contact@whollybuyable.com

After releasing a prophetic word, off the cuff, in a recent monthly membership call, Margaux was prompted to share with the greater Breathing Underwater/ Permission To Reign community. Which is YOU! Corporately we can sense that God is doing a NEW thing, something we have not known before which can create all kinds of discomfort, fear, and brings to the surface the “old” things that are time be rid off. Are you perceiving the new things God is doing or do you old lenses on? Are you dealing with unbelief, road blocks, insecurities…. Well you're not alone and this is actually a part of us being brought into the new thing. In this episode Margaux shares some of her recent revelation around “returning to “ who we are designed to be vs. “becoming “ who we are designed to be and the work of renewing the mind and removing lenses to fulfill all that we were intended. Through the message of Isaiah 43: 18-19 God reveals 3 keys for us in this time of transition and returning, and orients us to the season we are truly in.We are going TOGETHER: BREATHING UNDERWATER MEMBERSHIPSMore on Breathing Underwater Memberships HEREJoin the Community and Newsletter: HERE Email: margaux@permissiontoreign.comInstagram: @permission_to_reignIntro Music by Coma-Media from PixabayImage by Claire Fischer from UnsplashOleksii Kaplunskyi
Sermon text: Isaiah 43:8-13
At Mizpah, a significant and important holy place in Israel, where the men of Israel swore an oath which prevented any of them allowing any of their daughters to marry any of the remaining Benjamites. With deepest regrets they puzzled over a solution. It involved 400 of the remaining, stealing wives from the Jabesh-Gileadites, who had failed to support the united campaign to eradicate the Benjamites. That city was butchered apart from the 400 virgins, who were given to the cowering remnant. Additionally there was an annual festival held at Shiloh, whence the Tabernacle resided and it was from here that the remaining wives were stolen. The book concludes with the sad epithet- “In those days there was no king in Israel. Everyone did that which was right in their own eyes.” (21verse 25)

In a new relationship, it's easy to feel “in love,” but over time, couples often lose that affection they once had for each other. It's sad to see when a couple moves from being inseparable to insufferable. Today, in his message, Pastor Richard challenges you to ask yourself if you've become weary of God. Were you once so in love with God that He was all you could talk about, but now, He's more of an inconvenience? May it never be so!
We've all experienced some kind of failure in our lives, but should we let our failures define us? What if that first time you fell off your bike, you never got back up again? It takes resilience to keep moving forward. In his message today, Pastor Richard encourages you not to dwell on your past failures but to move forward as you grow in God's grace. Don't let yesterday's failures hinder what God wants to do in your life today.
The book of Isaiah is filled with so many rich passages, and today's chapter is one of them. In this study in Isaiah 43, we'll see God's heart as He lays out His redemptive plan for His people, and we'll see how Jesus came as the prophesied redeemer! Today's podcast is a tad long, but filled with rich truths we need to know! DISCUSSION AND STUDY QUESTIONS: 1. Take a moment to skim Isaiah 42 and the introduction of the New Covenant. What is the overall tone of Isaiah 42? How does verse 1 (of Isaiah 43) demonstrate a shift in this tone? Why do you think the Lord speaks this way to His people now? 2. In verse 1, why should the people not fear? What has the Lord done for them? How has He called you by name? 3. In verse 2, how does the Lord promise to walk with His people? How does the Lord describe Himself in verse 3? Why should this bring comfort to us? 4. Verses 3 & 4 speak of a ransom payment. This is speaking about how God brought punishment on the nations through the Babylonian conquest so that Israel might be (ultimately) freed. In the Old Testament, what is a “ransom” payment? (You may want to turn back to Exodus 30:11-16 or relisten to the podcast on that passage). How were these nations a ransom payment for the redemption of God's people? 5. In verse 5 to 9, from where will the Lord gather His people? In terms of the principles of “mountain range prophecies” (that we've talked about in the past), how was this prophecy initially fulfilled when the Jews returned to Israel under Zerubbabel in 538 BC? How is this prophecy being fulfilled now the Lord draw people to Himself from the nations? How will this prophecy finally be fulfilled when Christ returns? 6. Verses 10 to 13 provides some wonderful gems of truth about the Lord. What are some truths that these verses teach about God? What do they say about the nature of our Savior? How do we see aspects of the Trinity and Jesus' hypostatic union in these verses? 7. In verses 14 to 17, how will the Lord make a way of return for His people? 8. In verses 18 & 19, why do you think the Lord tells His people to not dwell upon His old ways of dealing with them? What is the new work He will do (and has done)? 9. In verse 21, what is a key purpose for God's people? How do you fulfill this purpose in your own life? 10. Verses 22 to 24 return back to the theme of the people's disobedience to the Lord. What is the Lord addressing in these verses? Why would anyone become weary of the Lord (vs 22)? How might someone not honor the Lord with their worship (vs 23)? Why does the Lord call these things a “burden” in verse 24? 11. Read verses 26 to 28 and then think about people's complaints about God. What “case” might the people make to the Lord? What will be the outcome of this argument with Him? 12. In verse 25, what does the Lord promise for His kingdom people? How does this confirm His righteousness? How does this confirm His legitimacy to rule these people? 13. Think back over the principles from this chapter. Has the Lord wiped away your transgressions? He has called you by name? Has He formed the worship you give to Him? Are you trusting in Him to be with you in challenges? How can you grow in these spiritual pursuits? I think most of us wish that life was perfect, but it's not. It would be great to spend our days sitting on a beach relaxing, but the reality is that life has its ups and downs. In today's message, Pastor Richard shares with you that although life can be hard, you don't have to go through it without hope. God hasn't promised you a life free from difficulty, but whatever struggles you face, He wants to carry you through to the other side.

Our lives are filled with apparent contradictions. We often say illogical things like, “Less is more,” and “The only constant is change.” Literally speaking, such statements can't be true, but deep down, we know they are right. And so it is with God sometimes. In the Old Testament, the prophet Isaiah found God in life's paradoxes. He saw God as a garden flourishing in the desert, as a slave who is more powerful than his masters, and as a healer who is mortally wounded. Through his prophecies, Isaiah revealed a deeper reality about God that cuts through our apparent contradictions and points directly to our crucified savior, Jesus Christ. At The Story, we'll explore these deeper truths beginning Sunday, March 2, through Easter Sunday.
