Relation-Sips

This episode was the result of waking up with a cup of coffee and hitting record. It may have been the episode with the least amount of prep work. It is pretty much an off-the-cuff experiment. Have a listen, and tell us what you think.

In this first of two parts, Joe actually takes on a guest co-host, David. You may remember David from other podcast episodes and other podcasts as well. Joe and David took a trip to San Francisco and here's what happened.

We have arrived. It took sometime, but we have reached a milestone. 50 episodes are in the book and available for your listening pleasure. We looked back at earlier episodes, and looked toward the future. This milestone calls for a drink! 

We sold our townhouse! This episode takes place right after we signed the papers, but had yet to receive the funds. We have since received the $$. Somehow we also went off on a tangent about an experience back in 2017. Grab a 40oz steak, and have a listen.

After transitioning from a 7 year old to an 8 year old, Desmond shares his thoughts on the events leading up to, and subsequent to his birthday bash. Listen to our bouncy house related hilariousness. 

This episode takes place mere hours before Des' 8th birthday. In this episode we get a peak into the mind of our favorite boy. He talks about life, birthdays, and of course Minecraft.

In this episode we talked about the decision we made to get rid of our RV. Our RV was a great toy that allowed us to have many adventures. We will definitely be moving into another model in the (hopefully) not too distant future. We are RV people at heart, and we're already itching to get back on the road. 

Digna and Desmond were involved in a traffic collision. The outcome could have been much worse, but out beloved Mazda is no more. The incident happened the day after we sold our third car. Fortunately, everybody involved survived.

After a bit of a hiatus, we decided to get back on the mic and drop fresh beats. To kick off our third season, we recorded from out back porch. By the end, heat was a factor. While the episode was enjoyable, it was also blisteringly hot. Humor and sweat flowed freely. 

Our mother/mother in law has finally exited the world of the working, and has decided to become a lady of leisure. We checked in on her to see how the first two weeks of retirement is going. She seems as though a burden has been lifted. Grab your favorite purple-colored beverage and enjoy the show!

This week we gave a status update, and told everybody what we've been tackling recently. We also talked about grape soda oddly enough. Open up a Grape Crush and enjoy the soothing sounds of our voices. 

Home ownership is a chore to say the least. We have been fortunate enough in the last few years to have many of these chores taken care of by the HOA. Moving in with Grandma in a 60 year old house has brought with it a very long list of chores. Enjoy this episode. It is very near and dear to us.

This episode was actually recorded before my grandfather passed. I was so off of my game that I forgot all about it. While you listen, you will notice a distinct lack of sadness in my voice. Now you know why.

On April 26th 2022, my grandfather went to bed for the last time. I have known him for my entire existence, but less than half of his life. In that time he was always my biggest supporter along with my grandmother. They were high school sweethearts who lived through many trials. They were always a symbol of hope in a world full of divorce. I strive to emulate what they had. Theirs was a partnership that lasted just short of 70 years of marriage. Papa was a fun grandfather in my youth, and then a close confidant and friend as I got older. In many ways, he was the father-figure that Would have been lacking else wise. I miss him dearly, and my heart aches. 

This episode was supposed to be about Easter and our experiences RVing the week before, but it quickly devolved into an admiration for the cocktail that we decided to sip during the episode. We sipped on a fabulous beer from Ommegang brewery while we discussed trial that is tooth pulling. Desmond is not a fan of pulling his teeth. His mouth is beyond ready to kick out some baby teeth, but he is in no rush. Fortunately, a tooth came out this week. Now we're only 3 teeth behind. In addition to pulling teeth, we discussed "Skoolies." For the uninitiated, a skoolie is a school bus that is converted to an RV. Grab a cold one and have a listen. As always, don't be gross!

In episode 35 we promised to upload an impromptu episode called, "Meat Sweats." This is the fulfillment of that promise. To celebrate finishing school we went to a Brazilian steakhouse, and we stuffed our faces until we could stuff no more. This episode was recorded shortly after the stuffing. No more pencils. No more books. School is done. What a voyage we took! A day that has been at least 2 years in the making has finally arrived. We brought out some special sips and just unwound without the specter of homework on the horizon. We talked about a small celebration we will have, and oddly enough we discussed a woman shaving her legs in a public pool. This was a fun episode to record. Enjoy!!

In this episode, we give a summarized peek into why we were away. We did not delve too deep into the last 15 months or so. We may visit in more detail in future episodes. It is great to be behind the mic again, and we will have more stuff available really soon!

When it is Pi Day, you get pie. We ate pizza with pie for dessert. Since Pi Day is so close to St. Patrick's Day, we had "Black velvets" which are a combination of hard cider and Guinness. We discussed what little we know about Pi, and the results are here for your listening pleasure.

In this episode we triumphantly return to sipping and chatting with our favorite little guest star, Desmond. His idea for a show was to play "Beanboozled" a game that was created by those evil geniuses at Jelly Belly. Grab some rotten egg flavored jelly beans and enjoy our soothing voices. 

In our veteran's Day episode, we talked a little bit of shop talk with a fellow veteran. This veteran also happens to be Digna's dad. Have a listen as we learn what 20+ yers of service sounds like. God Bless America, and Happy Veteran's Day!

With a fortieth birthday coming up, Joe decides that he is not a young man any longer. Changes must be made. Maybe changes could have been made earlier, but like they say, "better late than never."

In this episode we invited our son Desmond to belly up to the bar with locally made root beer from Playalinda brewing. We took the RV out had a wonderful weekend. We recorded and edited, and also bumped an episode that we already had recorded just to bring you some fresh content. 

Part 2 of our sit down with David and Alexis is just as fun as the previous episode. The pumpkin beers MAY have taken their toll part of way through this episode. Let's hope it is as fun to listen to as it was to record.

Just like all of your favorite TV shows. There comes a time in every good show where they either do a musical episode or they do a crossover with another show. We at Relation-Sips decided to go with the crossover. That's right we hung out with Joe Rogan, j/k we did an episode with the other half or "Drinkin' & Drivin'. David and his wife Alexis came on, and we talked about their relationship, and also did a death by pumpkin beer experiment. This is definitely going to be a 2-part episode, so enjoy the soothing sounds, and enjoy!

This week we decided to talk to a couple of newlyweds about married life. Digna's mom and her husband are celebrating 1 year of marriage, and have the year-old cake to prove it. We enjoyed some Hell N Blazes beer and listened to the rain drops fall. We also discussed the infamous "Mole man of Malabar." Pour a Sap Tap and enjoy the show.

This week Joe, Digna, and Des talked about their maiden voyage on their new land yacht. Meeting new folks, and encounters with nature were had. The beverage for this morning-time episode was good ol' fashioned coffee. 

This week, we talked about buying a new RV which we used over the Labor Day weekend. We also mentioned a family member's new RV. It is a great week in portable living across the board. 

This week we discussed our longtime neighbor departing for greener pastures, and a new COVID habit of pickling all of our vegetables. Grab a brined radish and enjoy this week's foolishness. 

For our 20th episode we decided to bring in our son, Desmond. When talking to a five year old, you have to alter the show a bit. In this episode we pull out some soft drinks and try to see the world through the eyes of a child.

They say, you can't choose your family. If this is true, the next best thing is "Framily." Before you listen, make sure you go to the bathroom. You'll thank us later. 

What is better that having a drink with one person? The correct answer is a few drinks with a few people. We had our great newlywed friends from St. Louis in this episode, and hilarity ensued. The "OLD" married couple had do drop some wisdom on the newbs while we sipped on some St. Louis beer and some Melbourne beer as well. This night consisted of 2 episodes. Let's just say the second episode requires a lot more editing.

Our previous episode was a peek into why we were gone for a few weeks. This week's episode was more in-depth. We covered Father's Day, Joe's Birthday, and of course Alexander Hamilton. 

We've been away for awhile due to schooling, but now we're back and the same as ever. This semester seems to have a bit better workload. If we learn nothing else in college, time management is going to be a great new skill. 

Since we hadn't recorded an episode in a couple of weeks, we felt like we needed to catch up, and vent about Boolean algebra. We enjoyed a quality beer by Omme Gang brewery. Sit back, relax, and listen to our soothing voices. 

While sitting in out recreational vehicle, we discuss what it is like owning a land yacht. We discuss the pros and cons while enjoying our favorite libations. 

This episode was recorded on Mother's Day shortly after noon. We decided that it would be fun to record, edit, and publish all before the end of Mother's Day. This episode featured a lot of name dropping. Enjoy the show, and Happy Mother's Day to all of the special mothers who kick butt each and every day!

We talked about our son, Desmond who is going to live up to the name, "Man of the World." He has already had a few plane trips. Can't wait to explore with the little guy. 

Technical difficulties took their toll on this episode. We had some unknown static, but were unaware of the issue until the episode was finished. In the end, we decided to keep the episode. In this episode we sipped on "Bag Lunch" a beer by Intracoastal brewing from Melbourne, FL. This beer is reminiscent of PB&J sandwiches that we brought to school. We discussed growing up in a smaller city that has grown into a much more populated location. Have a listen, and enjoy!

During these crazy times, it is important to stay home, and practice social distancing. Though we have not been binge watching, we thought it would be fun to discuss some shows we have watched in the past. Have a listen, and let us know what you have been watching.

We went to https://www.16personalities.com and completed the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. The Myers–Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is an introspective self-report questionnaire indicating differing psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions. After answering the 100 or so questions we received a report that described our personality. Some results were expected, but there were a few surprises. While recording this episode, we sipped on some homemade loquat wine. 

After a many year hiatus, Digna and Joe decide it's time to head back to the institution of higher learning, and learn a new skill. They discuss the difference between college in the year 2000 versus today. To commemorate the return to school they drink some milk cartons... with a twist!

Due to COVID-19 concerns, people are social distancing, and thinking about washing their hands a lot more than they used to. Some people are taking the time to learn an instrument, or do some home improvements. We talk about what we are doing during this time.

Because we were drinking a German style beer, we decided to have a trip down Memory Lane to the time we went to Germany. Due to the time constraints we put on ourselves for this show, we were not able to add every detail, but we did a pretty decent broad strokes  summary. Have a listen. PROST!

When life gives you pickle juice instead of olive brine do you get down? No, you make a quarantini. In this episode, we discuss how we became interested in the salty goodness that is the dirty martini. We also discussed any nightmares that we've had that were reoccurring. Get your vodka and vermouth, and have a listen. 

The saga continues. After leaving high school the two love birds spread their wings and left the nest. This episode talks about this transition. We wet our whistles on our first non-mass produced beer. A growler of Pareidolia's U-Turn made an appearance, and it was a pleasant change of pace.
