It's St. Patrick's Day, and the Big Rich, TD & Fletch crew is going all in to find out who's the most Irish! The competition gets spirited with a green beer chugging contest, an Irish soda bread eating showdown, and a classic corned beef and cabbage cook-off (TD was the only person who entered). But that's not all—things get intensely Irish with a high-stakes potato peeling contest, and of course, the crew wraps it all up with a Bailey's Irish Cream toast. Who takes home the title of “Most Irish” on the show? Tune in for all the St. Paddy's Day chaos, laughs, and maybe a few questionable life choices. Sláinte!

To celebrate his excellent keynote address at our Brewers Congress event in London last month, we return to one of our most listened-to episodes. David Gluckman was born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa on 1st November 1938, the day Sea Biscuit and War Admiral fought out the race of the century at Pimlico Park, Baltimore. Educated in Johannesburg, he joined a local advertising agency after university and soon fell in love with the business. He made the pilgrimage to London in 1961 and worked as an account executive on Procter & Gamble, Kerrygold, Lyons teas and several Unilever accounts. Always a frustrated copywriter, he escaped into product development in 1969, met a man from IDV and his life changed forever. The author of “That s*it will never sell!” David also helped create Bailey's Irish Cream. During its time, it has sold billions of bottles across 160 countries with 220 million litres of fresh, Irish cream consumed annually. You can read more about these in David Gluckman's compelling autobiography – That Shit Will Never Sell – a book crammed with entertaining anecdotes drawn from over forty years of brand creation in and around the drinks business. In this podcast, we recount some of those tales and speak to David about the early days of his career in advertising and his advice to keep the faith and how to earn valuable buy-in when doubters pour scorn on your creativity. We also discuss when to push hard in a pitch and when to ease back and take a critique, why the best ideas are the most simple and obvious, and also his pride in helping create a beverage that is sold across 160 countries with more than 220 millions bottles consumed annually.

Tranquil Tales and Lobster Ornaments: A Calm Holiday ExpeditionIn this serene installment of The Insomnia Project's 2023 collection, hosts Marco Timpano and Amanda Barker adopt a tranquil tone for a soothing exploration of holiday musings. Freshly recorded, this episode takes a serene approach to the festive season, starting with the hosts sharing their recent travels through Troy, New York, and unraveling the intricate history and crediting complexities of the poem "Twas the Night Before Christmas" (or, as they humorously note, the avoidance of the phrase "Twas enough").Marco extends a special shoutout to any listener named Clement, urging them to connect with the podcast. The hosts delve into the origins of the famous poem, originally titled "A Visit from St. Nicholas," before seamlessly transitioning into a discussion about the curious category of winterwear that is fingerless gloves. As the winter winds blow, Marco and Amanda warm up the episode with talk of festive beverages, exploring the delights of Egg Nog and Irish Cream during the holiday season. The journey continues up north, where the hosts share tales of cutting down Christmas trees, reveling in the wonky yet beloved imperfections of these holiday symbols. In an unexpected twist, the hosts reveal their quirky tradition of adorning their tree with lobster ornaments. Amanda recounts Marco's tree-trimming efforts, which lead to a charming interlude about writing holiday cards. The podcast takes a nostalgic turn as the hosts reminisce about Bil Antoniou's podcast, Bad Gay Movies, merging discussions on holiday films and actors with a touch of confusion—cue the plea for Bil's assistance in differentiating between Dylan McDermott and Dermot Mulroney. You can listen to Bil's podast here: Bad Gay Movies Listeners are encouraged to follow The Insomnia Project on Instagram (@theinsomniaproject) and Twitter (@listenandsleep), adorned with festive emojis. FEELING BURNED OUT – AND FINDING BALANCE.If you've wondered why it's been a minute since a new episode of 3Q3D dropped, well, Chris has been totally burned out, man. But fear not, because Matt and Amanda come to the rescue with a few great questions about the nature of burnout and how one can restore balance to a busy life. While the questions are excellent and the conversation vintage 3Q3D, the cocktails are a bit on the questionable side: after Matt pours a delightfully creamy concoction, Amanda makes something like an Old Fashioned, only awful, and Chris, well, he uses a blender to concoct a frozen Tokyo Tea that only a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle could love. If you've been feeling similarly stuck in a rut, let this episode be the self-care you deserve. Drinks in this Episode:Matt Jordan's Creamy Delight >> 2 parts Bailey's Irish Cream, 1 part vanilla vodka. For Wahlberg Horror Month, we asked our adoring fans to choose between Donnie doing battle with a killer doll in James Wan's DEAD SILENCE and Marky Mark battling killer trees in the beleaguered Shamalan flick THE HAPPENING. In an online vote, DEAD SILENCE easily took center stage, leaving THE HAPPENING flapping in the wind. So take a seat, boys and girls, as we start the show and find out if DEAD SILENCE is a killer pleasure or a guilty sin that we're better off staying silent about. THIS MONTH'S THEMED SPIRIT: DONNIE'S DELIGHT Shaek 1 1/2 ounces of vodka, 1 ounce of Irish Cream, 2 ounces of chocolate liqueur, and a dash of vanilla extract in a cocktail shaker with ice. Strain the contents of the shaker into a chilled martini glass. Summary: It's a holly, jolly holiday here on Hearts & Daggers! Today, Holly and Devin discuss books set during this holiday season. Whatever holiday you do (or don't) celebrate, these co-hosts appreciate the season for its coziness, the twinkling lights, and an excuse to spike hot chocolate with Bailey's Irish Cream before the seasonal depression really hits. Both books this round are on the lighter side, and for Holly that means just one (1) murder. Topics Discussed: The Heart (5:26): Devin discussed The Holiday Swap by Maggie Knox, a book chockablock full of fun romance tropes. Cass and Charlie are identical twin sisters living very different lives; Charlie is a glamorous cooking show co-host down in LA, while Cass helps run their parents' bakery in their quiet, quaint hometown. Due to a series of unfortunate (or fortunate?) events, they switch places without telling anyone and get a taste for how the other twin lives. Her key takeaways were: Written under a penname by two Canadian journalist/authors, The Holiday Swap is a delightful combo of The Princess Switch, The Parent Trap, and the entire Hallmark Channel without, somehow, being too much in a single book. Cass and Charlie are endearing protagonists and their love interests (a Physician's Assistant and a Firefighter) are unique, interesting, and just the right amount of stereotypically hunky. Unlike many holiday romances, the side characters in this novel are well-rounded and complete, adding depth to a light romance that does in fact include a small-town holiday festival with vendor booths, hot coco, and ice skating. The Dagger (20:28): Holly discussed I Am Half Sick of Shadows by Alan Bradley, the fourth book in the Flavia de Luce mystery series. Set at Christmastime in 1950s England, Flavia's family rents their derelict mansion out to a film crew for the holidays after they fall on hard times financially. Flavia is principally focused on finally catching Santa by concocting a glue that will stick him to the chimney flue, but when someone is found murdered in the mansion this 11 year-old pivots with gusto. Her key takeaways were: Written from Flavia's point of view, the book runs rampant with philosophical, literary, and mythological references with lots of dry wit and humor that allows our youthful protagonist to really shine. Bradley weaves in some Sherlockian moments in the novel; Flavia has chemical expertise and attention to detail that helps her notice aspects of crime scenes or corpses that the detectives all miss. Overall, the mystery itself was a bit lacking but the biting wit of the writing and a young narrator we can root for made this novel a true holiday delight for anyone who loves murder but also cozy season. Hot On the Shelf (44:27): Devin: Kiss Her Once For Me by Alison Cochrun Holly: The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon What's Making Our Hearts Race (47:34): Devin: Single All The Way on Netflix Holly: The Menu (film) Instagram: @heartsanddaggerspod Website: www.heartsanddaggerspod.com If you like what you hear, please tell your friends and rate and review us on Apple Podcasts and Spotify so that we can find our perfect audience.

Now wait a minute. If you thought Ronnukah was our last hurrah of the year, you've got another think coming, excuse me. We couldn't be happier to welcome a living legend into The Carriage House this week as we're joined by the delightful and hilarious Patton Oswalt! Of course you know Patton as one of the most gifted comedians working today (his new Netflix special WE ALL SCREAM is streaming now). And if you needed a reminder, his acting resume is a mile long, from THE KING OF QUEENS to RATATOUILLE (a Ronna favorite) to his most recent award-winning film I LOVE MY DAD. Patton helps us give advice on some major brother-in-law drama, talking about an untraditional relationship with friends, and throwing a party in a co-op. Ronnukah was a huge success, pardon me. We've heard from so many of you already that you've added Ronna (& Bryan)'s suggestions to your collective carts. But we couldn't be happier with our own Ronnukah offerings this season, including a gorgeous personalized Kinto tumbler, ultra luxe drinking chocolate with Irish Cream and Créme de Menthe, Ronna's Custom Holiday Glühwein, and more! Find it all at ronnukah.com And, needless to say, December's AR Social Club Kiki will be one for the books. Join before December 6th to get an invite to the holiday party of the year. And don't forget that single social club boxes are available and make absolutely fabulous gifts...and both the sender and the receiver receive invites to the Kiki! arsocialclub.com SPONSOR: Go to zocdoc.com/askronna to download the ZocDoc app for free and make an appointment with a top rated doctor at your convenience!

We don't really keep up with the latest food trends on TikTok, but for this episode of Three Kitchens Podcast Sarah decided to give one of these recipes a whirl. She tried the trending recipe, Dalgona Coffee, and to make this a proper breakfast, she also made Pesto Eggs over Sourdough Bread. Dalgona coffee is a beverage made by whipping equal parts instant coffee powder, sugar, and hot water until it becomes creamy and then adding it to cold or hot milk. Sarah added a shot of Bailey's Irish Cream to cold almond milk and topped it with the whipped coffee. And wow, was it good! Pesto Eggs are as simple as they sound, but cooking the eggs in pesto of your choice elevates a simple plate of eggs and bread to a dish worthy of serving to your brunch guests. Offer it up along with that super special Dalgona Coffee and they'll be asking for seconds. Don't say we didn't warn you.
