Then he goes into the a quick rundown of last week's predictions, Boom, Bust, and Sleeper, followed by NFL and then some quick talk about the upcoming games in the FBFL. In the final episode of 2025, Matt Cohen and John Ruffolo reflect on a turbulent year for technology, capital markets, and Canadian innovation, while looking ahead to the forces that will shape 2026. The conversation opens with Canada's largest private startup round of the year, a $1.76B raise by Toronto based HydroStar Energy Storage, and uses it as a springboard to examine the AI shakeout now underway. John describes the sector as entering a “forest fire” phase, where overfunded and undifferentiated companies fall away, creating room for stronger, more durable players to emerge.Matt and John then explore whether 2026 will finally mark a return of major tech IPOs, or whether the regulatory burden and liquidity options in private markets will keep companies like SpaceX, Stripe, and OpenAI on the sidelines. Despite interest rate cuts, the hosts argue capital markets remain constrained and selective. The discussion shifts to Canada's strategic priorities, including a growing focus on defense technology viewed through a dual use lens of sovereignty and innovation. As talent emigration rises and domestic risk capital lags, the episode closes with a clear warning. Without addressing capital access, taxation, and long term retention, Canada risks becoming a leaky boat, losing its builders and economic future to the United States. The 2025 AI Shakeout & The 2026 Forest Fire (02:06)John predicts a period of simultaneous “carnage” and opportunity in AI, comparing the market to a forest fire that burns the weak but creates fertile ground for the strong. They debate which companies are the true “sequoias” built to last.IPO or Bust? The Reluctant March to Public Markets (04:57)With rumors swirling around SpaceX, Anthropic, and OpenAI, Matt and John explore why 2026 might see major IPOs. John argues that many are driven not by ambition, but by investor pressure for liquidity, calling it a “panacea” for fund timelines rather than a strategic goal.Rate Cuts & Stagnation: Why Cheap Money Isn't Fixing Canada's Economy (07:28)Despite multiple rate cuts in 2025, investment activity remains sluggish. The hosts diagnose a holding pattern for Canada's economy, where further cuts risk devaluing the dollar without spurring meaningful productivity gains.Bullets, Bombs, and Blockchain: Canada's New Defense Tech Mandate (08:17)Matt highlights new government funds for defense tech. John reframes the spending as critical for “physical sovereignty” in a tech-driven Cold War, emphasizing the “dual-use” nature of investments in AI, quantum, and satellite technology.Predictions for 2026: Agents, Physical AI, and Nuclear's Comeback (11:23)The hosts share their forecasts: Matt bets on AI “agents” automating complex workflows and tangible ROI finally hitting enterprise software. John is bullish on “AI meeting the physical world” through robotics and autonomous machinery, and predicts a major comeback for nuclear energy.Canada's Leaky Boat: The Capital and Talent Retention Crisis (18:32)Addressing record-high emigration, John identifies the twin failures crippling Canadian innovation: a lack of domestic risk capital at scale and an uncompetitive personal tax regime. He warns that without urgent fixes in the next budget, the brain drain will accelerate, with U.S. capital actively pulling companies and founders south.Connect with John Ruffolo on LinkedIn: https://ca.linkedin.com/in/joruffoloConnect with Matt Cohen on LinkedIn: https://ca.linkedin.com/in/matt-cohen1Visit the Ripple Ventures website: https://www.rippleventures.com/ This is a public episode. It's Christmas Eve Eve…aka FESTIVUS FOR THE REST OF US! Bust out your metal pole & air some grievances with all the people who have disappointed you this year. Started the morning with the Tuesday song and some grievances of our own. In the news, there was no Powerball winner again last night, a recall on a pain-relieving ointment sold nationwide at both Walmart & Target, and the Wisconsin teacher who sexually assaulted an 11 year-old student gets sentenced. In sports, we recapped last night's MNF matchup between the 49ers & Colts, took a look at this week's schedule, and also talked about the upcoming College Football Bowl games. Plus, the Badgers men's basketball team got back on track with a win over Central Michigan last night, while the Bucks try to get a win tonight. Speaking of the NFL schedule, we took a look at how we did with our Pigskin Picks for Week 16, and since Jean won't be here tomorrow, we made our Week 17 picks today. Grant Bilse of the Wisco Sports show joined us just after 8am to discuss his holiday plans and also talk a bit about the Packers devastating few weeks. We talked about what's on TV today/tonight and we also let you know what's new on New Release Tuesday. Cool story about a chef at a seafood restaurant in Florida that saved a regular customer's life after he stopped showing up. A recent study revealed that 90% of people experience "work meeting hangovers". What's a sound that angers you the instant you hear it? And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a woman who was allegedly eaten by a shark, a really bad date, a #FloridaWoman who exposed herself to several children, and a school in NY that installed a "time-out" box.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Epstein files were finally released, or at least that's what we're being told. But the more people dig into what was actually made public, the more obvious it becomes that this wasn't transparency, it was a controlled leak. Names are still redacted. Documents are missing. Timelines don't line up. And once again, the most powerful figures connected to Jeffrey Epstein seem to remain just out of reach. The question isn't whether files were released, it's why so much is still being withheld. Tonight, we're going to talk about what didn't come out, and why that matters. Was this about protecting ongoing investigations, or protecting reputations? Was this damage control, political insulation, or something even bigger? When the crime touches intelligence agencies, global elites, and untouchable institutions, the truth rarely comes out clean. So we're going to speculate, connect dots, and ask the uncomfortable questions the media still won't. Because if this was the full truth, they wouldn't still be hiding so much.Visit our merchandise store here

In this high-energy holiday edition of The Fan, Marc Malusis tackles the growing disconnect between New York front offices and their loyal fanbases. The "Moose" dives deep into the Yankees' shifting standards, arguing that the organizational grading system has moved from "Championship or Bust" to "Playoffs or Bust," leaving fans like caller Ramon rightfully frustrated with Aaron Boone's job security. The show takes an emotional turn as Marc breaks down the "heartbreak" of Mets fans moving on from Pete Alonso, comparing the team's refusal to pay their stars to a failing relationship where the "date nights" have long since stopped. Finally, Marc looks toward the postseason, issuing a stark ultimatum to the Buffalo Bills: with Mahomes and Jackson out of the way, the AFC is a vacuum that Buffalo must fill now or never. Between scouting the Giants' draft needs and celebrating the legendary career of Dove Kramer behind the glass, Malusis delivers a "B+" performance (according to Pete!) that covers every corner of the New York sports landscape.

Most enterprises today run workloads across multiple IT infrastructures rather than a single platform, creating significant operational challenges. According to Nutanix CTO Deepak Goel, organizations face three major hurdles: managing operational complexity amid a shortage of cloud-native skills, migrating legacy virtual machine (VM) workloads to microservices-based cloud-native platforms, and running VM-based workloads alongside containerized applications. Many engineers have deep infrastructure experience but lack Kubernetes expertise, making the transition especially difficult and increasing the learning curve for IT administrators. To address these issues, organizations are turning to platform engineering and internal developer platforms that abstract infrastructure complexity and provide standardized “golden paths” for deployment. Integrated development environments (IDEs) further reduce friction by embedding capabilities like observability and security. Nutanix contributes through its hyper converged platform, which unifies compute and storage while supporting both VMs and containers. At KubeCon North America, Nutanix announced version 2.0 of Nutanix Data Services for Kubernetes (NDK), adding advanced data protection, fault-tolerant replication, and enhanced security through a partnership with Canonical to deliver a hardened operating system for Kubernetes environments.Learn more from The New Stack about operational complexity in cloud native environments:Q&A: Nutanix CEO Rajiv Ramaswami on the Cloud Native Enterprise Kubernetes Complexity Realigns Platform Engineering Strategy Platform Engineering on the Brink: Breakthrough or Bust? Join our community of newsletter subscribers to stay on top of the news and at the top of your game. For years, crypto traders have lived and died by the halving clock. Boom. Bust. Rinse. Repeat. But what if that old rhythm doesn’t work anymore? In Episode 798 of The Bad Crypto Podcast, Joel and Travis make the case that Bitcoin has officially graduated from “speculative science experiment” to institutional-grade asset class — and that changes everything. We break down why this cycle looks nothing like the last ones, including: • Why banks that mocked crypto are now quietly building custody, trading, and ETF pipelines• How public companies, governments, and ETFs are soaking up Bitcoin supply• Why institutional buying is far “stickier” than retail panic selling• How regulation shifts (OCC, FDIC, Fed guidance) removed the biggest barriers between banks and Bitcoin• Why the classic 80% crash may no longer be the default outcome• What January and February could reveal about whether the cycle is truly broken• Why Gen Z asking for crypto for Christmas might be the most bullish signal of all We also dig into adoption curves, Bitcoin treasuries, ETF inflows, government holdings, and the uncomfortable reality that the market may have changed the rules while many traders are still playing the old game. If you’re waiting for the “inevitable crash” so you can say “told you so”…you might want to listen first. Because Bitcoin doesn’t look like it’s leaving. It looks like it’s settling in.

Largest Biker Gang Bust in Georgia HistoryToday on Black Dragon Biker TV, we are breaking down what is now being called the largest motorcycle gang conviction in Georgia state history — and the implications are far bigger than just one case.On a December morning at 11:31 a.m., Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr announced the conviction of 15 members of the Southeast Georgia Chapter of the Outcast Motorcycle Club in Bryan County. The case stems from an attempted armed robbery and shootout that took place on June 17, 2022, at Flacos House Bar & Grill and the Red Roof Inn on Highway 17 in Richmond Hill.According to prosecutors:Innocent bystanders were caught in the crossfireSix members of a rival gang were targetedFirearms were usedAnd the state pursued the case aggressively from top to bottomJust 17 years after donning the 1%er diamond in Georgia, the Outcast MC now finds itself placed squarely in the national spotlight of biker gang prosecutions, alongside the so-called “Top 5” white outlaw motorcycle clubs.⚖️ This Is Bigger Than One CaseThere's a reason Black motorcycle clubs historically avoided the 1%er diamond when it first appeared in 1958 — and it had nothing to do with toughness, heart, or organization. The OGs understood something critical:Juries judge Black skin differently. Then. And now. They knew the diamond didn't just represent outlaw status —it represented enhanced scrutiny, enhanced charges, and enhanced punishment. That diamond painted a target squarely on the chest. So What Is “Patch Policing” Really Called in Court? Here's the truth:In the courtroom, patch policing isn't called “protocol.”It isn't called “club business.” It's called ARMED ROBBERY. And the sentence is 20 years.Today, we'll break down:How club conduct gets reframed by prosecutorsWhy juries don't hear “MC culture” — they hear “organized crime”How enhanced charges are built around patches, colors, and associationAnd why this case should serve as a warning to every MC wearing a diamond
