We take on the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival with a fun challenge inspired by our friend Jon Self. Jon recently shared his list of what he considers the best and worst dishes at this year's festival, and instead of just reading his thoughts… we decided to put them to the test ourselves. Here's the twist: we grabbed all eight items from Jon's list and set out around EPCOT to try every single one of them — without knowing which dishes he loved and which ones he thought were the worst. That means every reaction you hear is completely honest and happening in real time. As we make our way from booth to booth, we taste each dish live and share our immediate thoughts on everything from flavor and presentation to portion size and more. Along the way we talk about which dishes surprised us, which ones didn't quite live up to the hype, and which ones we'd absolutely order again on our next visit. If you're planning a trip to the Flower & Garden Festival, this episode should give you a great idea of which dishes might be worth your time and which ones you may want to skip. And of course, as always, we have plenty of fun (and a few laughs) along the way.

Recurring revenue sounds smart. Memberships, prepaid packages, and gift cards can create a surge in cash flow for med spas — but without proper financial tracking, they can distort your profit margins, inflate revenue perception, and create operational risk. Listen here to learn how aesthetic practices can misinterpret cash injections as true growth — and what to track instead. If you're operating 1–2 locations and planning to scale, this conversation about healthy cash flow management for your aesthetics practice is critical. Are Gift Cards Creating False Revenue Expectations for Your Practice? Whether you run a med spa or a similar practice, you'll learn why simply chasing upfront cash isn't always the ticket to success—and how these models can create a false sense of profitability, throw off your capacity planning, and even compromise your ability to deliver services in the future. I'm revealing how a CFO tracks different income streams, forecasts cash flow, and helps you build sustainable financial habits, so you don't end up borrowing from your future business. Prepaid revenue can: Inflate top-line sales Hide future labor costs Distort margins Create scheduling unpredictability Mask capacity constraints "The issue with this, however, is when not done well or not done with this in mind, you're putting yourself at risk for a very distorted view of your sales, of your numbers, and not really making sound business decisions based on good data." - Shannon Weinstein To cut to the chase, cash in the bank does not equal earned revenue. Cash Injection vs. Sustainable Growth: Making Better Business Decisions We're seeing a huge trend in med spas and wellness practices: everyone's jumping on the recurring revenue train with memberships, subscriptions, gift cards, and prepaid packages. It sounds great on the surface—more cash in the bank, better sales numbers, right? But here are a few things you'll learn in this episode that might change your mind: Why gift card revenue is a future liability, not pure profit How prepaid packages distort med spa profit margins Why capacity utilization matters more than cash balance How to segment revenue categories properly in QuickBooks Why you should reconsider commission structures on prepaid sales How memberships affect enterprise value and predictability Protecting Your Aesthetics Practice from Recurring Revenue Traps and Misleading Data Collecting money upfront (especially around holidays with gift cards) can feel like winning. Who doesn't love a surge in revenue and a healthy bank balance? The catch is, those numbers don't always paint an honest picture. You might be thinking your marketing is working wonders, but really, your sales are getting propped up by gift card purchases. When it comes time to deliver the actual services, your costs catch up—and you don't have new income to cover them. If your med spa offers memberships, gift cards, or prepaid packages: Segment revenue by category (services, retail, memberships, gift cards, prepaid packages) Track redemption timing based on historical data Build a 6-week cash flow forecast including expected redemptions Measure revenue per provider and revenue per square foot Monitor capacity utilization instead of celebrating temporary cash spikes Evaluate LTV to CAC separately from prepaid sales I compare it to the GLP-1 weight loss trend: quick results, but they don't last unless your habits are solid. The same goes for business cash injections. If you don't have the right financial habits, you get a false sense of achievement that fades fast. Memberships and Prepaid Packages: Boost or Bust for Your Med Spa? If your monthly numbers look amazing, but you're just selling future services, don't rush to expand or boost sales goals. Before expanding, make sure your growth is real by evaluating the following: Are you mistaking cash injections for sustainable demand? Is capacity actually full — or artificially inflated? Are membership liabilities masking thin operating margins? Buyers and lenders look for predictable earned revenue — not volatile cash surges. In this ClimateGenn Episode I speak with former Chief Scientific Advisor to the UK Government and Chair of the Climate Crisis Advisory Group, Sir David King. The interview was initiated in response to David being quoted in the Financial Times. The article reported on how people in the East of England being forced to evacuate their homes due to erosion from inundation of sea water. A problem that is forecast to see thousands of homes abandoned in the coming years. We cover a lot of topics in this conversation but they all illustrate the gargantuan size of problem we face and how badly we humans are responding to challenges. For all the talk of Artificial Intelligence, the glaring truth is: if we focussed our collective real intelligence on solving these problems, the horrors accelerating around us might be greatly reduced and even manageable. If only.In the next episode I am speaking with former UK Green Party Leader, Baroness Natalie Bennet about the mainstream media narrative emerging claiming that the UK Green Party have replaced environmental policy in order to appeal to the so-called far-left. Is this a radical shift for political opportunism, or, is there consistency with the Green manifesto of the past and how does it all hang together? There are more episodes scheduled with leading world experts on critical issues from collapsing ice sheets in Antarctica, to how climate is changing all around us, in realtime— I want to say a big thank you to everyone who commented on the last interview with Dr Jennifer Francis, sharing thoughts and examples of how extreme impacts are impacting your regions and communities.

For a long time, it was easy for some to dismiss the wine world that Tyler Balliet and Morgan First have spent the last 20 years carving out for themselves as frivolous or unserious. Second Glass, the zine Tyler started while working one of her first wine jobs, was a far cry from the glossy or stodgy wine publications that ruled the day. Their blockbuster tasting events, Wine Riot, sold out cities across the country but were often overlooked by the wine establishment in favor of posh Food & Wine festivals or a leading critic's “master class.” Their Rosé Mansion pop-up experience was packed day in and day out by an audience much of the wine world didn't realize it needed… until it was almost too late. Now, fresh off Tyler's James Beard Award nomination for her book The Rebel School of Wine, mainstream wine is finally listening. We sat down with Tyler and Morgan during a California tour that included speaking engagements at the DTC Wine Symposium (perhaps you've heard of it) and the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium, along with a party with friend of the pod Stacy Buchanan of Blood of Gods fame. We talked about how they've been working to make wine more fun, more colorful, and more accessible since long before those were buzzwords in the industry. We also reminisced about the chaos of the Wine Riots, where they graciously included Winery Sixteen 600 back when Sam was as wet behind the ears as the ink on the first Stanley Mouse labels. Most importantly, we talked about how, despite the setbacks they've faced, Tyler and Morgan have continued to succeed by putting their heads down and believing in their vision. It might look like its all rainbows and mirrorballs from the outside, but underneath it all are two people deeply knowledgeable about wine and completely dedicated to sharing it with anyone curious enough to show up. This one's a fun ride. Bust out a sticker book, some colored pencils, grab a couple bottles you love and buckle up. [Ep 403]
