Today, Hunter was joined by two guests from the Brooklyn Defender Services, Heather Stoloff and Andie Markowitz. Unfortunately, today's conversation brings us another allegation of a public defender leader engaging in flagrant union busting efforts. A few months ago, the Executive Director of the organization called Andie in for a one on one meeting. In that meeting, Andie alleges that the Executive Director handed her instructions detailing how to dissolve the office's current union, how to create a new one, and as Andie understood it, that she would be rewarded for doing so. Guest: Heather Stoloff, Attorney Team Lead, Preserving Family Bonds Team, Brooklyn Defender Services Andie Markowitz, Senior Social Worker, Brooklyn Defender Services Resources: Read More Here https://queenseagle.com/all/2025/9/19/brooklyn-defender-services-boss-accused-of-union-busting-scheme https://www.alaa.org/media-releases/resolution-condemning-lisa-schreibersdorf https://hellgatenyc.com/brooklyn-defender-services-union-bust/ https://x.com/bds_union Contact Hunter Parnell: Publicdefenseless@gmail.com Instagram @PublicDefenselessPodcast Twitter @PDefenselessPod www.publicdefenseless.com Subscribe to the Patreon www.patreon.com/PublicDefenselessPodcast Donate on PayPal https://www.paypal.com/donate/?hosted_button_id=5KW7WMJWEXTAJ Donate on Stripe https://donate.stripe.com/7sI01tb2v3dwaM8cMN Trying to find a specific part of an episode? BT and Sal unleash a fiery debate over Sal's "home run blueprint" for the Mets' perfect offseason, which centers on trading for ace Tarik Skubal, signing a frontline starter like Ranger Suarez (while Sal dismisses Dylan Cease as "just another dude"), and re-signing Pete Alonso—especially since he's open to DH. The discussion heats up as they clash over the realism of acquiring Skubal and the $400 million contract that would follow. Sal pushes for a big bat like Bellinger, Tucker, or Bregman to complete the lineup, leading to a controversial take: is trading Nimmo the better long-term move if it means keeping a DH-capable Alonso and improving the overall team defense? The stakes are high for David Stearns and Steve Cohen to execute a massive overhaul.

From pharmaceuticals to consumer packaged goods, discover why trust, transparency, and agility are the new gold standards in supply chain operations—and how data-driven agents just might become indispensable.Tune in for a masterclass that balances digital wisdom with a dash of dry wit, and learn how emerging tech is helping organizations deliver on time, in full, and with a whole lot less existential angst.Time stamps00:00 "Autonomous Supply Chain Optimization"06:01 "Optimizing On-Time Delivery Failures"07:27 Proactive Warehouse Order Management13:06 "Aligning Perception with Reality"15:08 "Streamlining Order Fulfillment Process"18:18 "AI Revolutionizing Problem Coordination"22:18 "Data Validation and AI Insights"25:04 Predictive KPI Monitoring with Gen AI27:09 Clarifying Questions for Assistance31:37 "Tailored Software Delivery Models"34:35 "AI's Role in Complex Industries"37:00 "AI Focus and Value Debate"42:37 "AI Bubble and Valuations"46:43 AI's Transformative Impact on Jobs48:17 AI Enhances Jobs, Not Replaces51:44 "AI: Boom, Bust, Transformation"57:38 "AI, Data, and Change"

BT and Sal dive into an explosive "Call of the Day" where a fiery Yankees fan, Mike from Manalapan, torches Brian Cashman for his failure to develop position players, comparing his tight grip on prospects to holding onto a failing "Bitcoin." The caller demands the Yankees "package them all" and trade prospects like Spencer Jones and Jasson Dominguez for a top-tier player. The hosts then take a call from a Mets fan who defends the Yankees' consistent success, arguing that making the playoffs "almost every year" isn't "stale." Sal and BT push back, asserting that the Yankees' standard must be higher than mere playoff contention, and the fan frustration stems from the consistent, championship-less repeat of the same failures, worsened by recent moves like the Trent Grisham qualifying offer.

Is this just a slump or a real decline for Mahomes and Andy Reid's crew? Geoff explains why coaching stubbornness and missed moments are costing Kansas City big games — and could even cost them the playoffs. They also dive into how the Eagles keep stacking wins despite ugly play, and why dominating the trenches still gives Philly the edge. Then it's all about the Rams resurgence — is Matthew Stafford quietly putting together an MVP-caliber season? When President Donald Trump began his tariff rollout, the business world predicted that his unprecedented attempt to reshape the economy would lead to a major recession, if Trump went through with it all. But the markets stabilized and, in recent months, have continued to surge. That has some people worried about an even bigger threat: that overinvestment in artificial intelligence is creating a bubble. Andrew Ross Sorkin, one of today's preëminent financial journalists, is well versed in what's happening; his début book, “Too Big to Fail,” was an account of the 2008 financial crash, and this year he released “1929: Inside the Greatest Crash in Wall Street History—and How It Shattered a Nation.” He tells David Remnick that the concern lies in the massive borrowing to build the infrastructure for a future A.I. economy, without the sufficient revenue, currently, to pay off the loans. “If I learned anything from covering 1929, [and] covering 2008, it is leverage,” Sorkin says, “people borrowing to make all of this happen. And right now we are beginning to see a remarkable period of borrowing to make the economics of A.I. work.” Sorkin is the co-anchor of “Squawk Box” on CNBC, and he also founded the New York Times' business section, DealBook.New episodes of The New Yorker Radio Hour drop every Tuesday and Friday. Join host David Remnick as he discusses the latest in politics, news, and current events in conversation with political leaders, newsmakers, innovators, New Yorker staff writers, authors, actors, and musicians.

We're digging deep this week at the Armchair Attorney® Podcast as we dive into two Supreme Court cases. The first case is Learning Resources, Inc. v Trump. Oh, happy day! Thanksgiving, I mean – our annual pause for family gatherings to celebrate the rich and tasty diversity of America's harvests. There is, however, something decidedly distasteful that has steadily been forcing its way onto our dinner tables: Raw monopoly power. This concentration of market control in the hands of a few domineering conglomerates is decimating farm families, swindling food industry workers, and gouging consumers. Economists have a technical term for what food industry profiteers are doing to us: The term is “stealing.”Farmers know the evil of unrestrained monopolists all too well, for they are relentlessly squeezed by two sets of them. First, everything they must buy to produce food – from seed to tractors – is controlled by non-competitive giants that charge rip-off prices. Second, when selling their products, farmers and ranchers are boxed-in by corporate cartels that only offer take-it-or-leave-it, go-broke prices. Then, this same anti-competitive system turns on us consumers, charging grossly-inflated grocery prices that give them monopoly profits and even more market power. This Thanksgiving dinner is a good time to tally up the ever-widening monopoly spread separating you from farmers:* A Butterball turkey costing you $2.42 a pound, pays the farmer 6 cents per pound.* Potatoes costing $4 a bag returns only 55 cents to farmers.* Wheat farmers only get 13 cents from a $4.50 loaf of whole wheat bread.* Top sirloin steak cost $16.50 per pound, but ranchers get under $4.* Even simple lettuce is $2 to you, but pays only 29 cents to farmers. The very idea of Thanksgiving is that We're All In This Together. So let's get together and bust these greedheaded monopolies. For connections, go to Family Farm Action: farmaction.us.Jim Hightower's Lowdown is a reader-supported publication. BT & Sal unleash a fiery debate on the Yankees' offseason, arguing the entire success of their winter hinges on re-signing free agent Cody Bellinger. Sal insists the team has "no excuse" to lose Bellinger after already whiffing on Juan Soto last year, demanding the Yankees get aggressive now and exceed the market if necessary. Tierney agrees, noting that losing Bellinger would make their already unclear roster situation "very worrisome." The hosts also pivot to a bigger picture, asking: "Is Bellinger enough?" They propose bold moves like trading for a true leadoff hitter like Steven Kwan and questioning the Yankees' self-imposed limitation at third base with Ryan McMahon when a proven winner like Alex Bregman is available. They conclude that without Bellinger and further aggressive action, the Yankees risk simply starting the next season with the same flawed team.

This episode considers whether today's massive AI investment boom reflects real economic fundamentals or an unsustainable bubble, and how a potential crash could reshape AI policy, public sentiment, and narratives about the future that are embraced and advanced not only by Silicon Valley billionaires, but also by politicians and governments. Justin Hendrix is joined by:Ryan Cummings, chief of staff at the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research and coauthor of a recent New York Times opinion on the possibility of an AI bubble;Sarah West, co-director of the AI Now Institute and coauthor of a Wall Street Journal opinion, "You May Already Be Bailing Out the AI Business"; andBrian Merchant, author of the newsletter Blood in the Machine, a journalist in residence at the AI Now Institute, and author of a recent piece in Wired on signals that suggest a bubble.
BT & Sal are in complete agreement on one fiery topic: The Yankees (and Mets) must be all-in to acquire Pirates ace Paul Skenes, who is under team control through the 2029 season. Sal argues that Pittsburgh must trade him within the next few years to maximize value, likely with three seasons left. The hosts clash with caller "Frankie from Bay Ridge," who insists that Yankees prospect Cam Schlittler is "more proven" and shouldn't be included in any deal for Skenes. The hosts vehemently disagree, arguing that Skenes is a "transformational superstar" whose every outing is equivalent to Schlittler's best playoff performance, making any package involving top prospects like Schlittler, Spencer Jones, and Jasson Domínguez a no-brainer. The segment concludes by quickly revisiting the Pete Alonso contract discussion, prompted by a caller confusing Alonso's value with Bo Bichette's.

Stijn Schmitz welcomes Josef Schachter to the show. Josef Schachter is Founder, Schachter Asset Management Inc. The discussion centers on the current and future state of the global energy market, with a particular focus on oil and natural gas dynamics. Schachter provides a nuanced view of the oil market, noting both near-term challenges and long-term bullish potential. In the short term, he anticipates oil prices potentially dropping to the $56-$58 range due to significant global inventories. However, he sees a compelling long-term narrative driven by fundamental supply constraints and declining global reserves, which require approximately 5-6 million barrels of new production annually just to maintain current levels. The conversation highlights critical challenges in the energy sector, including underinvestment and lengthy development timelines. Schachter emphasizes that new production requires extensive infrastructure, environmental approvals, and significant capital expenditure. He believes this complexity will contribute to a potential energy supercycle, potentially seeing oil prices exceed the 2008 peak of $147 per barrel. Canada emerges as a key focus, with Schachter noting the country's substantial energy resources and potential for growth. He suggests that Canadian energy companies offer attractive investment opportunities, particularly those with strong balance sheets, exploration potential, and dividend yields ranging from 5-10%. Geopolitical factors and technological innovations play a significant role in Schachter's analysis. He discusses how new extraction technologies, such as fracking and advanced offshore drilling, continue to unlock previously inaccessible energy resources. Additionally, he sees potential risks in global trade tensions and potential economic slowdowns that could impact energy demand. Looking forward, Schachter is optimistic about the energy sector's potential, anticipating global oil demand increasing to 110-112 million barrels per day by 2030. He recommends investors consider diversified exposure across oil, natural gas, and service industries, with investment strategies tailored to individual risk profiles and income needs.

The crew dives into listener trades, rejecting a blockbuster of Josh Allen, Rico Dowdle, Javonte Williams, and Travis Kelce for Jayden Daniels and Malik Nabers, and debating Daniels' injury risks. They pass on Ashton Jeanty for Daniel Jones and Breece Hall, decline Justin Herbert for Caleb Williams plus a 2028 first, but love pre-injury Tucker Kraft and Joe Flacco for Kyren Williams and Isaiah Likely. A final deal swapping Drake Maye, Jaylen Waddle, and a 2nd for the injured Daniels and Travis Hunter gets a resounding yes, with closing tips to stay active in negotiations for dynasty success.
