Episode 25: Talking all things diet culture & intuitive eating with The Jentle Vegan

Say a big hello to Jenny The Jentle Vegan! Yes, I'm a lover of chicken wings but we can still be friends, don't worry she's gentle I promise. This week Jenny and I go deep into her experience with over 10 years of dieting, you name it she has probably tried it. She ran to diets as it was easy for her to follow the rules, like so many of us Jenny was great at being a good student, she did what she was told and that's that. However, over the years she found that being told what to do by these huge diet companies wasn't the way to go. Instead of listening to others, Jenny started listening to herself, and that's where transformation happened.Make sure you follow jenny on IG @TheJentleVeganI really look forward to hearing what you got from this episode.

This week's episode is something a little out of the ordinary, sharing my experience with plant medicine has been something I wanted to share but just wanted to make sure I was able to provide you with the science behind it rather than me just talking about my experience. so that's why I brought Alysa AKA @yourwellnessbestie on to give you all the details.I know cannabis isn't legal all over the world and I'm definitely not recommending you break the law but all I ask is that you have an open mind and get curious with us. I was someone that used to look at cannabis and think it was a terrible thing, I even had a warped perception of how people used it but like anything, it's the actions of a few that seem to ruin it for everyone.Cannabis has truly saved my life, it's given me my life back. I want to change the perception of the cannabis industry and show you that you have other safe options out there than medications that also have crazy side effects.About Alysa:Alyssa is on a mission to help women become their highest selves through healthy habits, natural healing, and plant medicine. She is a huge advocate on self love and mental health awareness. Thanks again Alysa for helping me share this part of my life with the world. Here's to changing the world together!! Make sure to follow Alysa @yourwellnessbestie

Catherine didn't fit in, she chose to find where she belonged!! So often in life, we hide our differences so we are accepted easily by others, but by doing so we end up losing ourselves. What if embracing who we are was the societal norm, you aren't dumb because you aren't good at taking tests, your formal education doesn't define your abilities, your age doesn't hold you back from starting something new.  If you have the passion, desire, the want to do something then you do it, screw everything else and do it for you! This week I have the pleasure of introducing you to Catherine Aria , an independent Artist here in Vancouver. When I tell you that this one is a force to be reckoned with I truly mean it.  Catherine has completely broken the societal norm by delving into a career that she knew nothing about, the one thing she did know was that this wasn't something she wanted to do but had to do. when Catherine started dabbling in music it was a way of therapy for her, now 4 years later she has released her first EP 'I don't write love songs" when you listen to her music it's like she is in your head, she has a beautiful way of sharing her story in a way where we can all relate.  If you want to follow along with Catherine's journey and let's face it if you just want to creep here on social media you can find her here or go directly to her website catherinearia.com

I planned on posting a different episode this week but with everything that is in the news at the moment, I had to jump in and share my thoughts on it all. Everyone is speaking up about safety specifically around women, this is such an important issue especially in this day in age. However, it's important to not pressure people to speak up if that arent ready, if they don't feel safe to do so. Don't get me wrong I am all for speaking up but we need to be mindful that we don't undermine or guilt those who haven't yet. Before we try to save others by speaking up we have to be safe to do so, in this week's episode I talk about how we can start establishing safety within. This is the foundational skill that will able you to rewrite your story forever.
