August 28, 1989 saw the release of Dr. Feelgood, the album that would solidify Motley Crue as a sleazy, sunset strip band that had hit the big time. It included songs you would expect from Motley (She Goes Down, Slice Of Your Pie, Rattlesnake Shake) but thanks to producer Bob Rock also included 5 singles that hit the charts in the US. The band tries to be tender in spots (Without You, Time For Change) but stays true to themselves with adrenaline boosters like Kickstart My Heart, Same Ol' Situation and the title track. And though they were all over MTV and touring to huge crowds around the world, all was not right in Crue World. The band were all sober at this time. And while that might have led to better work in the studio and more consistent live shows, it also made personalities clash. This would prove to be the last album from the original line up until 1997 and certainly the last to make the sort of cultural impact the band made in the 80s. Did the more polished studio sound from Bob Rock create band factions? Did sobriety and wealth cause them to grow apart? Did the Crue just implode before they faded away? Many of us are feeling overwhelmed by the state of the world. We might be up at night worrying about climate change or presidential elections and everything in between. Our concerns are certainly warranted, but is it possible that this could also be a time of opportunity? Is this the moment in our history where we start to heal what's been broken? We are entering a time of intense change, Pluto in Aquarius means transformation for all. The question is, what will we be transforming into? Now is the time to craft the world we want to live in, a world that will allow future generations to thrive. As we wander through the woods on this hot, sweaty day, reflect on how you are being called to action. How will you show up in this moment? High Time for Change: Cannabis Rescheduling and Its Impact on Recovery In this episode of Recovery in the Middle Ages, we explore a significant shift in cannabis legislation, focusing on the historical journey of cannabis from a Schedule I to a proposed Schedule III substance. We explore the reasons behind this reclassification, the evolving perceptions of cannabis in society, and the science that influenced these legal changes. Additionally, we examine the implications of this rescheduling for individuals in recovery, discussing how it affects treatment options and public attitudes towards addiction and recovery. We also look at some quirks in New York law that pertain to the selling of non-alcoholic beverages, and talk about obesity, stress and managing boredom. *This podcast does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Please take the necessary precautions and seek support as appropriate. "On 9 January 2024, the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on birth trauma in the UK Parliament will set up an inquiry to investigate the reasons for traumatic birth and to develop policy recommendations to reduce the rate of birth trauma. Research shows that about 4-5% of women develop post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after giving birth – equivalent to approximately 25,000-30,000 women every year in the UK. Studies have also found that a much larger number of women – as many as one in three – find some aspects of their birth experience traumatic. Birth Trauma affects 30,000 women across the country every year. 53% of women who experienced birth trauma are less likely to have children in the future and 84% of women who experienced tears during birth, did not receive enough information about birth injuries ahead of time.
