PTSD - post traumatic stress disorder - healing with nature by Chris Walker
Todays opic might seem like a harsh one. PTSD Post traumatic stress syndrome and how it could be healed with MDMA therapy or ibogaine soon. But the world should be informed what this looks like, especially in the current state. Civilians and veterans are suffering. We are exposed to a whole new situation of trauma and war, even just watching what is happening can cause re traumatisation. As heavy as this topic is, I firmly belief the knowledge around healing modalities should be out there. My guests today are real experts on the topic.Amber Capone is the Co-founder and Executive Director of VETS Inc. (Veterans Exploring Treatment Solutions, Inc. Co-founder and Executive Director ) a pioneering organisation providing resources, research, and advocacy for U.S. Special Operations veterans seeking psychedelic assisted therapies abroad. Amber has served as the engine behind the dynamic success of the VETS mission since it's inception in 2019, raising funds to support hundreds of veterans, spouses, and Gold Star spouses, while also spearheading research and legislative initiatives at both the state and federal levels. A natural born complex problem solver, Amber is committed to fighting as hard for other veteran families as she did for her own following a tumultuous return to civilian life after her husband, Marcus' 13 year career as a US Navy SEAL.Jonathan M. Lubecky, U.S. Army SGT(R) , is the founder of Lubecky Strategic Direction, Veterans & Governmental Affairs Liason for MAPS, and VP Communications at Apollo Pact. He is a 12-year retiree of the U.S. Armed Forces, serving in both the Marine Corps and the Army. He has been a freelance journalist since 2014. Since 2016 he has been a Strategic Communications & Governmental Affairs Consultant advocating for psychedelic medicine and Veterans. Jonathan returned from a deployment to Iraq in 2006. Shortly after returning, he was diagnosed with posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and a traumatic brain injury. While battling PTSD, enduring multiple forms of treatment, and taking dozens of pills per day to manage symptoms, he attempted to take his life five times. While recovering from that fifth attempt in the hospital, he was instructed to “Google MDMA PTSD”. Beginning exactly 8 years after being released from active duty from Iraq, Jonathan began MDMA-assisted therapy in a MAPS Phase 2 study and completed the protocol in early 2015. As of November 22, 2022 he has been healed of PTSD as long as he had PTSDJon was appointed the National Veterans Director for the Rand Paul for President campaign. Realizing the potential of psychedelic medicine to heal his fellow veterans and the millions of Americans suffering as he once did, he has been involved in media, politics, and government affairs, with a focus on the Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, and Media ever since receiving MDMA therapy.https://vetsolutions.org/https://www.lubeckysd.com/INSTAGRAM: @marcus_amber_capone@jonathanlubecky Hosted on Acast. Healing from trauma sometimes seems impossible, but with new developments in neuroscience over the last 15 years, it is more possible than ever. Join me on this episode all about one of my favorite therapy modalities, EMDR. EMDR stands for “Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing” and it's a revolutionary technique that can help you to finally feel relief from trauma. In this episode, I explain a bit about how it works and why it works, as well as share some stories about my experiences both administering EMDR and receiving EMDR. You will learn so much about how trauma is stored in the body, how to metabolize it, and how to move forward with more peace and freedom. Here are three reasons why you should listen to this episode: Connect how trauma lives in the body and how to process it using both the mind and the body. Understand more about how EMDR works. Feel inspired that healing is possible. Connect with Elise on Instagram: @elisekindya Episode Highlights [04:54] What is EMDR? EMDR stands for “Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing”. This modality was adapted from a 1950s modality, systematic desensitization therapy that used progressive muscle relaxation, and instead uses bilateral stimulation with eye movements as well as other stimulation- sound tones and tactile stimulation of touching or tapping. Bringing both sides of the brain online to witness a traumatic memory. [06:38] What is trauma? Trauma is a negatively activating experience where we are overwhelmed by a threat and we are unable to successfully defend ourselves. In humans, we tend to get stuck in our trauma psychologically when we aren't able to close the traumatic stress response. See the book Why Zebras Don't Get Ulcers by Robert Sapolsky to learn more about getting unstuck from stress. EMDR helps us get the trauma unstuck from our bodies. PTSD: Post traumatic stress disorder and CPTSD- Complex PTSD. Adverse Childhood Experiences Study. [09:01] Trauma happens first in the body- even psychological trauma. The body disconnects the higher-level thinking brain when we experience trauma. We need the energy in our limbs to fight or run away from threat. Trauma gets stuck in our body at this point. Humans make meaning of our experiences- and so when trauma gets stuck, we make it mean something about ourselves. EMDR guides clients to go back into the memory- usually the first and worst- and bringing the higher level/left side of the brain into the memory, usually gaining a new perspective on the memory. [11:58] Bringing all of you into the memory The analytical part of the brain is seeing this memory for the first time. After trauma, you might over analyze and wonder what we could have done differently. As humans, we make it mean something about us - even when it wasn't our fault. EMDR can stop these intrusive thoughts. When you can see this memory more logically and objectively it helps you realize that the traumatic event that happened was out of your control. [15:24] Tools to use in EMDR Often times, you needed protection from the trauma or nurturing after the trauma so that the impact would not have been as great. I help clients develop Protective Figures and Nurturing Figures into sessions to reprocess the memory. I see this as powerful inner child work. You deserve care and love, and EMDR provides the opportunity for a rebirth. [18:14] Talk therapy and EMDR We use the left side of the brain in talk therapy. The trauma is stored in the right side of the brain and in the body, which talk therapy doesn't usually touch. EMDR brings both sides of the brain to see the memory and actually can do something with it. We can liberate and free ourselves when we do EMDR. Regain access to parts of yourself that felt inaccessible. [20:16] There is no time machine No type of therapy can rewind time and change your life experiences. What we can do is to use tools today to help you feel better about yourself, and increase your self worth to help you live your life differently going forward. [21:02] Things To Consider When Doing EMDR Important to do EMDR with other practices and with a trained therapist. Therapists can screen clients to make sure that they are appropriate for this type of work. People on TikTok are saying that they have given themselves EMDR- which I would not recommend. Sometimes slow is fast- working with a professional can help you get there the “right” way. Trauma makes us feel hyper independent and it's actually healing to be in community when healing. [25:48] Closing Thoughts Our brains have neuroplasticity and mirror neurons- which helps our brain change. When we are intentional and willing to practice, we can change. EMDR helps you maximize the potential of your brain. Enjoyed this Episode on Positivity? If you enjoyed this podcast, please make sure to subscribe and share it! Leave an episode review and share it! Episode 41Samantha does a solo-podcast on "The Cold Hard Truth" about how she is really doing in life.I'm not going to lie. I didn't know if I was even going to be able to have the energy to do this. I have been struggling with myself. I have NOT been in a good place emotionally for variable reasons. These last few months have left me in a place where I don't even seem to recognize myself. But I vowed to always be as transparent with all of you as I can be.I talk about my life as it stands. I get real about how my EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) appointments for my PTSD (Post-traumatic-Stress-Disorder) are going, what they consist of and if I feel like they are actually helping. I discuss my perspective about SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) and the questions I have that surround the subject.Am I going backwards in life? Or is this like a slingshot where I am being pulled back in preparation to be shot forward with great momentum?Am I psychoanalyzing too much? How did I let this happen? Or is this just part of the process?SO Many questions. Do I have all the answers?? Absolutely NOT!Is this the most eloquent podcast I've ever done? NOPE!But it's REAL and it's my truth right here and right now.My hope with sharing the "Cold Hard Truth" about the dark place I have been in can help just one person know that you are NOT ALONE!Thank you for listening. I wish I had a beautiful quote of encouragement and support to leave you with. But the truth is my mind, body and soul is just a little tired at the moment. So I leave you with our tag line.Stay Twisted my Beautiful Friends.

Without hesitancy, Kim begins with Biden's experimental drug door-to-door campaign. This means there is a national database and tracking system in place relative to the Wuhan-China vaccination. Is this still America, the Land of the Free? Attention should instead be placed on China and Russia as they threaten the US. Both state the US has lost its dominance. Biden adds to the international threat by rolling back Trump-era sanctions on Iran, including its sale of oil. Iran is the biggest exporter of terrorism in the world. The teachers' unions indoctrination of our children in schools has parents asking where to send their children. Public school enrollment this past year fell 3%. Decline to sign Initiative 25: LEAP. Do not be fooled. The unelected, unaccountable bureaucracy will not let parents make choices but will have parents make selections of programs from preselected options with a list of preselected providers. Through an executive order Biden begins a new effort that will make it easier for millions of immigrants to become citizens. NSA does not deny it has been tracking Tucker Carlson. The one who identifies as the inventor of mRNA vaccines has his LinkedIn account deleted after questioning whether everyone should get the vaccination. Barbershops and hair stylists are asked to aid in encouraging people to get the jab. Colorado will expand its testing program to schools, especially schools with students too young to get the vaccination. Lorne Levy, mortgage specialist with Polygon Financial Group, has not yet seen inflation in mortgage rates as interest rates remain steady. Attention will be on the Federal Reserve minutes to be released today. Give Lorne a call at 303-880-8881 for either a new mortgage or a refinance before the rates increase. Andi Buerger, founder of Voices Against Trafficking (voicesagainsttrafficking.com), addresses the question: Does America have PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder)? The answer: Yes! People have been dealing with the Wuhan-China virus/COVID-19 for over a year and are now exhibiting anger and frustration from a general fear of the unknown. The constant barrage of negative news keeps people on edge. A relationship with God, knowing that there is someone greater than themselves can help individuals live, not just exist, during these trying times. Do your due diligence. Many churches today are not preaching the Gospel but social justice. Lead by example. Trafficking is going on at the border as children are being sold by coyotes; it is our duty to take care of the innocent. Be active. Stay engaged. Support Andi's organization that educates and brings awareness to this tragedy. Be a part of the solution.

About Derrick, "For me, fitness is not just about hitting the gym; it is also about an inner happiness and an overall well-being." ~ Rakul Preet Singh ~ In high school, I wasn't physically active. I remember being in the gym, forcing and trying to motivate myself to be more active. The motivation was just not there at the time. As I got older, I constantly worked harder to be physically active and motivated myself to be more proactive. It was hard for me to understand why the passion for being physically active was not there during my youth. I was raised around people that were physically active. My mother was a nurse in the military during the Vietnam War. She stressed the importance of healthy living and exercise. My uncle, Jackson "Rock" Pinckney, who was my biggest role model, was extremely physically active. He was a U.S. Army Veteran (Ret), medically retired law enforcement officer, fitness trainer and national bodybuilding champion, author and actor. My uncle also won several bodybuilding competitions and held the title of Mr. Fayetteville through the National Physique Committee, and the NPC Middle and Light Heavy Division Championship I attribute my passion for physical fitness to him. Before his death, he was helping me reach and achieve my fitness goals. After my oldest daughter was born, I made the decision to join the United States Army. I worked in combat. Being a soldier in the U.S. Army somewhat forced me to become more active because there really wasn't anything else to keep me entertained. It also helped me cope with the stressors of life. In 2005, I became a little more serious about physical fitness and strength training. I started trying different strength and conditioning techniques to help improve my overall strength, power, and endurance. During this time, I was stationed in Iraq. While completing an 18 month tour in Iraq I was seriously injured during a suicide bomber attack. The injuries I sustained left me physically and mentally scarred. I was diagnosed with Traumatic Brain Injury(TBI) and PTSD Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. It took me a while to heal but I eventually realized that I was responsible for my own well-being and happiness. Physical fitness and strength training became my coping mechanism. This is what eventually led me to opening up my first Sport and Nutrition Online store called Genetic Push Supplements. My motivation for the online store diminished and I decided to close it after the first year. In 2016, I reopened the company under a new name, Warrior Genetics Lab. I came back motivated, stronger, and more attentive. My dreams for this company was much bigger. I plan to work harder to make sure this company develops and grows to its fullest potential. I want this company to be a success. Currently, the company is flourishing. It has twelve athletes represent my brand. We have started competing competitively in different states. my company also now have two sponsors; Community Awareness and Youth Boxing. Warrior Genetics Lab have given to numerous charities and so far has done one fundraiser for Veterans. There are numerous fundraisers in the works. One will be coming up this spring to support veterans. Denna vecka tar jag lov pg av restriktioner och ni får njuta av en repris av ett avsnitt som förtjänar att lyftas igen. In this episode we ask Gina Poe, a sleep scientist from UCLA, about her seminal work on both REM and non-REM sleep. We talk about the role of memory replay in REM, how to measure such replay in rats, as well as the ways in which REM impacts upon emotional representations, and may even help us to combat post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). We also discuss the importance of sleep spindles for updating conceptual knowledge. Join me in today's episode as I go live on Facebook and Instagram! Description: In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, I'm covering a very important topic that is not always addressed in everyday life. Today, I will discuss PTSD (Post-traumatic Stress Disorder) and trauma. A common misconception about trauma is that you have to experience war/combat in order to experience trauma. This is simply not true. We can encounter trauma in so many different ways, and traumatic experiences are not limited to the battlefield. By the end of this episode, I want to help you understand what PTSD is, what can cause it, how to recognize it, how it can manifest, and review some real-life examples from my past. So many people may not know or recognize when they have been exposed to trauma throughout their life. My goal is to help clear that up. Be sure to listen to the entire episode and hopefully you can walk away empowered, with a greater understanding. Did you know that the vast majority of issues that we have interpersonally, and in the workplace can be traced back to childhood trauma? Violet Rainwater is on a massively important purpose. Her realization years ago was that so many of us suffer from childhood trauma, and as a result, we have become terribly limited in reaching our true potential. The problem is that most people don't talk about this in the workplace. We focus on our reactions, the limitation of resources, egos, and mostly superficial items. Violet believes that if we all took a moment to go deep inner personally, to become more self-actualized, and to be vulnerable to share about the traumas that we've gone through, we have a much better chance of thriving in the workplace, realizing our true potential, and ultimately being happy. There's something called complex PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder), which happens over a long duration. Daytona shares a very personal story about a trauma she endured, and the journey of healing that followed. Her father was stationed in Germany during the war, and she (a young teen) had to undergo surgical placement of an implantable cardiac device for an unstable heart condition. There was hostility among the staff for Americans at that time, and Daytona endured the entire 2 1/2 hour procedure without any anesthetic, while being restrained by staff members. Daytona shares candidly the highs and lows in her healing journey, and offers hope for others that are struggling with PTSD (Post traumatic Stress Disorder), and forgiveness.

Today we are chatting with a couple of incredibly powerful women about a potentially less desired topic. Our intention is to bring awareness to mamas and families dealing with premature birth. In honor of World Prematurity Day this coming Saturday, November 17th, we are talking about our tiny warriors and their warrior mamas. We are speaking about the miracles that exist to provide hope and to empower the mamas in the trenches of dealing with prematurity, the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) and all of the fears and anxieties that come along with it. We have some incredibly inspiring and well-versed guests who have plenty of experience with this: Charleyne Oulton and Riana Luck. Charleyne is a confident and happy mom of three children who were all born prematurely. Charleyne has a passion for writing and is a well recognized published author with Golden Brick Road Publishing House and regular contributor for YGTMAMA. She is a popular health and wellness coach with It Works, works in the Royal Canadian Navy as a Reservist and is a Pisces who lives on beautiful Vancouver Island, BC. She is also an upcoming contributor in You've Got This Mama Too and You've Got This, Healthy Mama. Charleyne shares a brief snippet of her story. She has three children that were all born prematurely, within thirty-two months of each other. She had no idea that she was at risk for premature delivery. She was so uneducated around any other possibility of a birth plan other than a full term healthy pregnancy. She claims that it was horrible and terrifying, an event that she still suffers from PTSD (Post-traumatic Stress Disorder) because of. Her first son's birthday brings up mixed emotions, joy is combined with having to relive really scary times. Her second pregnancy had her more prepared with the risks of premature delivery only because of her previous experience. The lead up to her son Jeffrie's birth was terrifying but born at twenty-eight weeks, he was a fighter and her strongest preemie. Less than a year later her daughter Juley Anne was born at twenty-six weeks, at less than 2 lbs. Her pregnancy was the most joyful pregnancy. She knew that she was going to have another preemie, her waters ruptured at twenty-two weeks and she was encouraged to terminate the pregnancy because the baby would not be viable at that time. She chose life and decided to try to try to keep her inside as long as possible. Combined she spent 110 days in the NICU with what she calls her little ‘miracles'. Riana is the mom of five; seven-year-old triplet boys, a four-year-old daughter, and a one-and-a-half-year-old daughter. Four out the five were preemie babies that spent a total of 119 days in the NICU. Riana is also an owner of two businesses, one being a successful cheerleading gym in Red Deer called Premier Academy, and co-owner of three others. She is also an upcoming contributor in You've Got This, Boss Mama. Riana shares that one of the biggest struggles from her NICU time was when she had other children at home depending on her and missing her. With her triplets, although it was hard, it was expected and they knew what they were in for. There were no other children at home who also needed attention, so they could devote all their time to be in the NICU. When her waters burst early with her last pregnancy she walked into the hospital in tears. She knew the long road ahead, and a lot more tears were shed as a coping mechanism. She also praises our outstanding health care system: “It's amazing what they can do for these little babies.” We are here to bring awareness to this difficult topic. Riana starts off by sharing her two different NICU experiences. Her triplet sons were born at thirty-one weeks, five days, which was expected and actually very good for triplets. Even though almost thirty-two weeks is a great milestone for triplets,
PTSD can manifest in an array of stress responses including flashbacks, persistent feelings of fear or shame, a sense of alienation and aggressive behavior. Among the most trauma-ridden neighborhoods are impoverished communities of color where inequality fuels hopelessness. That drives vulnerable youths deeper into violence, both as victims and as perpetrators. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/the6thman/support

If you're trying to conquer a traumatic past, and you live with PTSD and Dissociation, then you'll likely be able to relate to my guest on this episode of the podcast, Alexis Rose. Alexis Rose began her remarkable healing journey in 2009. Sparked by a family tragedy she began to piece together, for the first time, a personal history of abuse and trauma. Supported by her spirituality and writing, as well as family and friends, she has profoundly grown and changed over the years. While learning to live with the effects of her trauma, and working with the deficits caused by PTSD (Post-traumatic Stress Disorder), she has co-authored three inspirational books. Her memoir, Untangled, speaks to the courage, resilience, and triumph over her unimaginable hardship. Her newest book, If I Could Tell You How It Feels is a series of essays and poems about living authentically with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Alexis is an experienced speaker on the topics of living with Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. She is also an active blogger who writes about PTSD, Mental Health, and Trauma, with a bit of poetry sprinkled in along the way. PTSD is an illness of the soul, not the mind. Today PTSD is considered “an anxiety disorder.” However, the cluster of symptoms used to diagnose PTSD (Post-traumatic Stress Disorder), or the expanded set for Complex PTSD, all simply describe how a healthy, sane human responds to their own soul loss. In other words, it is not a disorder. Shamans have been effectively treating soul loss caused by trauma or chronic abuse for thousands of years. If those dedicated therapists studying and treating PTSD could understand that they are all late to the party and work respectfully with shamans as colleagues then those suffering could find a path to healing in months, not years. Join us this week and host and shaman, Christina Pratt, continues to share the practical application of shamanic healing to alleviate suffering in our contemporary world.
On tonight's episode we will conduct a group session ... Safe havens and places for afrikans to talk out the issues and problems of life are very important. Often times with dealing with a world so callous we become thick skinned for survival or feel we must appear to be in order to survive. The PTSD ( Post traumatic slavery disorder) that afrikans carry is real and must be talked about and dealt with. So tonight we open to the listeners to say what's on their minds as we will share our thoughts . How are we family if we are not close. The call in number 347-850-8030
Join me this Thursday, August 28, 2014 to discuss Reiki and Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) may develop after a person is exposed to one or more traumatic events, such as sexual assault, warfare, serious injury, or threats of imminent death. The diagnosis may be given when a group of symptoms, such as disturbing recurring flashbacks, avoidance or numbing of memories of the event, and hyperarousal, continue for more than a month after the occurrence of a traumatic event. Most people having experienced a traumatizing event will not develop PTSD. Women are more likely to experience higher impact events, and are also more likely to develop PTSD than men.[3] Children are less likely to experience PTSD after trauma than adults, especially if they are under ten years of age. War veterans are commonly at risk for PTSD.
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder develops after a terrifying ordeal that involved physical harm or the threat of physical harm. It is a type of anxiety disorder. It can occur after you have gone through an extreme emotional trauma that involve the threat of injury or death. More often times than not, we relate PTSD to war veterans. However normal everyday people who may have been assaulted, experienced some sort of accident or disaster can be affected by this. Many of us encounter problems in life, bad experiences and injuries.
