After some research on EBay and recent sales he came up with the justification for why he was sending the ones he ultimately chose. The point of grading a card is to protect them but, also to make it easier to sell a card if need be.

While up in Maine a large immaculately organized binder was dropped off to Liam's Grandfather in Maine to give to Liam. We weren't told who gave it to him but, he knew Liam appreciated baseball cards and gave it as a gift.
