WVU football and coach Rich Rodriguez are in the mix for two highly rated high school recruits for the 2026 class that previously committed to Penn State, but reopened their recruitment after the Nittany Lions fired James Franklin. The West Virginia Mountaineers are welcoming the Colorado Buffaloes to Morgantown on Saturday, November 8 for a Big 12 football matchup. Both teams enter the contest at 3-6 (1-5), but seem to be headed in opposite directions. Coach Deion Sanders' Buffaloes have allowed over 50 points in two straight blowout losses. Meanwhile, Rich Rodriguez and the Mountaineers are coming off their first Big 12 win of the season; a 45-35 victory on the road against a ranked Houston Cougars squad. This game will feature two freshmen quarterbacks. Scotty Fox Jr. will start for WVU. After being thrust into action due to injuries to the veteran quarterbacks ahead of him, the Ohio native is coming off two solid performances. He threw for over 300 yards in a loss at home against TCU. He then accounted for three scores in last week's win at Houston. Former five-star recruit Julian Lewis is getting the start for Colorado. Sanders is going to the true freshman after his offense has struggled the previous two weeks. Lewis will replace Kaiden Salter, the transfer from Liberty who had started most of the season for the Buffs. The West Virginia Mountaineers will go on the road to take on the 22nd ranked Houston Cougars in game six of their Big 12 Conference schedule. WVU is coming off a close loss at home to TCU, while Houston is coming off a big win over number 24 Arizona State. Houston is led by one of the league's best defenses. They are number 21 in the country in scoring defense, number 36 in total defense, 38th in rushing defense and number 52 in passing yards allowed. Meanwhile, WVU football's offense is one of the worst in the country. Rich Rodriguez's unit ranks 98th in total offense, 113th in scoring and 114th in passing offense. The Mountaineers are top 50 nationally in rushing offense, coming in at number 47. Zac Alley's Mountaineer defense, led by safety Fred Perry and linebacker Chase Wilson, will be charged with slowing down the Houston offense led by quarterback Conner Weigman. The junior transfer from Texas A&M has thrown for 1,581 yards and 12 touchdowns. He has also ran for 354 yards on 87 carries. The 2-5 WVU football team will host the 5-2 TCU Horned Frogs in a Big 12 Conference matchup on Saturday, October 25, 2025. Star quarterback Josh Hoover leads TCU into Morgantown to take on a struggling Mountaineer team, who will be relying on true freshman signal caller, Scotty Fox, who is being thrust into action due to injuries to multiple West Virginia quarterbacks. Sonny Dykes' TCU squad will also rely on wide receiver Eric McAllister, who has already eclipsed 600 yards receiving and seven touchdowns on the season. McAllister will be lined up against a WVU secondary that has been struggling since Big 12 play began. After another ugly loss in Big 12 play by WVU football, this time to the BYU Cougars, were there any positive takeaways from WVU's performance? In this episode, Couz says there is and he will explain what they are. He will also talk about the negative takeaways, however, and go over those as well. Khalil Wilkins was the third starting quarterback on the season for the Mountaineers and his results were mixed. However, he seemed to get stronger as the game went on. True freshman Scotty Fox also received some playing time in the game. Couz breaks down the game played by both, including PFF grades, and talks about their future potential as signal callers for Rich Rodriguez's offense in Morgantown. Couz will also talk about the continued struggles by the Mountaineer offensive line and the sudden regression of the defense. Two weeks in a row they were eaten up in the pass game. Couz will talk about some of the reasons for that and will use PFF grades as a guide.
