EPISODE 243 - Clark and Hyung start the show off by discussing the unfortunate news of the high-end Shohei Ohtani, Juan Soto, Mookie Betts and Fernando Tatis Jr. Bowman Chrome rookie autograph cards reported stolen by @lukadoncicpc after seeing the alleged tampered FedEx package with nothing inside. They discuss what measures can be taken to safeguard against this happening as much as possible. Plus they discuss who should make shipping valuable cards more safe (FedEx? eBay? Topps?) The guys then move on to "Hobby Headlines" to talk about the new way Topps Now has been issuing cards of big sports moments (ie. adding rare chase cards randomly inserted in packs for free.) They also come up with ideas on how Topps Now cards can get even better and what the next evolution of these print-on-demand cards should be. Clark then plays "Would You Rather" again with Hyung who is presented with two hobby scenarios and he then has to decide which he'd pick (ie. Take Geoff Wilson's offer for the 1/1 non-autograph U.S. Olympics basketball card OR go with Goldin and list the card up for auction.) Lastly, they play their regular weekly scheduled game called "Pick 1" where they each put up two cards and then debate which one they'd rather invest in. -------------------------- CONNECT WITH US! EPISODE 204 - Clark, John, and Will open the show discussing the Mike Trout 2009 Bowman Chrome red refractor rookie autograph card which dropped 80% in value within 1.5 years (from $1.08 million to $216,000.) Was it a steal at the $200K price tag or is that money better spent on other cards? Then for Hobby Headlines, they go over some of the recent chase cards and sets (ie. Victor Wembanyama Topps Dynasty card with alien inscription drawing; Caitlin Clark Collegiate set to name a couple) announced in the hobby, and categorize each of them as "cool" or "gimmicky." Next, they introduce a new segment called "To Buy or Not To Buy" where Clark, John, and Will each talk about a card they're thinking of buying. And then the other two try to convince the one looking to buy reasons to buy the card or to talk them out of it for whatever reason. EPISODE 189 - Clark, Hyung, and John open the show giving their two cents on the Victor Wembanyama "No Autograph" Card and wonder if this is it for Panini America? Moving on to Hobby Headlines, the guys dig deeper into the announcement that Fanatics Live is offering a $10,000 break credit for anyone that pulls one of the grail sports cards in "The 10" list. It includes the 2009 Topps Chrome superfractor rookie card of Stephen Curry as well as the Black 1/1 2018 Luka Doncic Panini Prizm just to name a couple. Is this promo good for the hobby? Will it force other breakers to provide incentives for collectors in the future? Or is this just a gimmick? Then afterwards they introduce a new segment called "Rank Them" in which they rank different sets of cards chosen by Clark in the order of which one would be the most desirable to the least for their PC collection (ie. Shohei Ohtani 2018 Bowman Chrome superfractor autograph card vs. 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle vs. T206 Honus Wagner.) MLB Debut Patch). Then the guys reacted to some of Rubin's comments whether they agreed, disagreed, or had anything else to add to them. Next, in a new segment called "Hobby Impact," they went over some of the recent free agent signing and rumours in MLB including whether Shohei Ohtani signing with the Dodgers or the Blue Jays would be better for the hobby (this podcast episode was recorded before the Ohtani to the Dodgers news). They also touched on Juan Soto going to the Yankees, and speculation on where Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Cody Bellinger would sign. Finally, Clark and Hyung play "Pick 1" - the regular weekly segment where each of them pick two cards and then debate which one they'd rather invest in. Hyung put up Shohei Ohtani's Topps Gold rookie card ($2K) vs. Juan Soto's Topps Gold ($1.2K); Clark put up Corbin Carroll's 1st Bowman Chrome autograph card PSA 10 ($850) vs. Gunnar Henderson's 1st Bowman Chrome autograph card PSA 10 ($520). -------------------------- CONNECT WITH US! EPISODE 177 - Clark, Hyung, and John open the show discussing the controversial topic of repacks - the good, the bad, and the ugly. Then they welcome their good friend and go-to Pokemon card collector Roy who is there to help answer many of their Pokemon-related questions. While the sports card market is down, there are big gains being made from buying and selling Pokemon cards. So Roy was invited to help the guys learn the basics of Pokemon cards, what characters and cards are popular, which sets are iconic and rare, common terminology used by Pokemon card collectors, and much more. Then Roy sticks around with the boys to play their regular "Pick 1" segment where they are given two players or cards and subsequently debate which one they would rather invest in. Roy starts things off by asking whether they would rather have a $10K Pokemon card that continues to grow in value but they can never sell, or a $2K sports card they could do whatever with. Hyung asks if the Jackson Chourio 1st Bowman Chrome autograph card is a better investment or the Ronald Acuna 1st Bowman Chrome autograph card at double the price; and John puts up the Frank Thomas NNOF error card PSA 10 (Pop 1) vs. the Derek Jeter SP Foil PSA 10 (Pop 21). -------------------------- CONNECT WITH US! EPISODE 175 - Clark and Hyung open the show giving their initial thoughts on the 2023 Topps Definitive Collection set including the big chase, the dual autograph 1/1 cards of Shohei Ohtani and Babe Ruth, and whether it's worth the $100K bounty. Then for Hobby Headlines, the guys address the controversy surrounding Rob G., aka Sports Card Therapist, but focus more on what lessons can be learned from it. They also talk about "megabids" as well as what they would do as a content creator if caught in a similar controversy. Then Clark and Hyung "cast their vote" in a new segment on recent lists that Major League Baseball put out asking followers who they think could win their first MVP next season, which rookie can rise to stardom in 2024, and who could get into the Hall of Fame on the first ballot. Then the guys bring it back to the hobby and decide whether they would invest in that player's cards. Lastly, they play their regular "Pick 1" segment where they are given two players or cards and subsequently debate which one they would rather invest in. Hyung asks whether the aforementioned 1/1 dual autograph card of Ohtani and Babe Ruth is a better investment or a 1933 Babe Ruth Goudey; Clark asks which would be better to buy – a Jackson Chourio base 1st Bowman Chrome autograph at $800 or a Jackson Holliday base 1st Bowman Chrome autograph at $500 (both PSA 10s). -------------------------- CONNECT WITH US! EPISODE 174 - Clark, Hyung, and John open the show discussing the news that Leaf Trading Cards was recently acquired by Orange Mountain Capital. What does that mean for Leaf product and should collectors be excited for it? Next for Hobby Headlines, the guys talk about the big mistake by Panini America with the Victor Wembanyama Nebular Prizm 1/1 pulled from the wrong hobby product. Then they compare that hobby mistake to the other notable ones in 2023 such as the Babe Ruth cut autograph booklet featuring George Brett's autograph instead, as well as the 2023 Bowman Chrome duplicate superfractor fiasco. Then Clark, Hyung, and John present some new hobby hot takes and subsequently discuss how "hot" their respective takes actually are. Lastly, they play their regular "Pick 1" segment where they are given two players or cards and subsequently debate which one they would rather invest in. Hyung asks which player would they rather invest in long-term: Shohei Ohtani or Luka Doncic; John asks what side they'd choose with the 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle (PSA 8) on one side, and then six more modern grail cards across different sports on the other; and last, Clark puts up the 1st Bowman base autograph card of Mookie Betts and Juan Soto against one another with both BGS 9.5/10 cards going for about $1,000. -------------------------- CONNECT WITH US!
