Send Bidemi a Text Message! In this episode, host Bidemi Ologunde spoke with Amanda Schlichting—an Arizona-licensed private investigator and nationally certified animal-cruelty investigator—about her career arc from patrol officer to trainer to PI, her 2014 push to overhaul animal-case policies inside her department, and her current work setting up a statewide coalition, the Arizona Animal Cruelty Task Force, to connect investigators, veterinarians, and law enforcement. The conversation dug into why animal-cruelty cases often sit at the crossroads of major crime—gangs, narcotics, illegal firearms, money laundering, and trafficking—and how better data plus efficient report writing, forensics, and media strategy can raise the odds of justice. We also cover her free ARS 13-2910 briefings for officers, and practical advice for communities on how to spot animal neglect or abuse.Support the show
Send me a Text Message! In this episode, Mike returns to the foundational — but rarely mastered — concept of Healthy Selfishness. He shares how giving without receiving leads to depletion, why most people are unconsciously afraid to receive, and how deserving, expecting, and receiving are actually nervous system conditions — not mindset problems. This episode is a permission slip to stop playing martyr, start playing big, and rewire your body for reciprocity, worthiness, and overflow.Key TakeawaysYou Are Not the Meat Suit — You Are the Awareness Navigating It Understanding this distinction is the beginning of every transformation. The Nervous System Is Wired for Familiarity, Not Fulfillment If you're conditioned to overgive, you'll feel unsafe receiving until your body is reconditioned.Selfishness Is Just a Triggered Word — Not a Truth What we call “selfish” is often just healthy boundaries and energetic reciprocity.Deservedness, Expectation, and Receptivity Are Somatic You can't out-think these — you have to feel and rewire them in the body. You Were Built to Give — Now It's Time to Learn to Receive Until you receive, your giving will always have a ceiling… and an expiration.Notable Quotes“The greatest lie ever perpetuated in human history is that it's better to give than receive.”“For almost my whole life, I was living as if these beliefs were true.”“Your nervous system has one task and one task only — and that's to keep you alive.”“The limitation of our expectation is what we do feel that we do deserve.”“I deserve what I want. I expect what I want. I receive what I want — because I'm worth what I want.”Call to Action
Send Kris and Rob a Text Message! In 2008, a mother and her little girl rode an elevator to the 11th floor of a building in Yuanlin, Taiwan—left two red coats and their shoes—and stepped into a stairwell. They were never seen again. This is the cold case of Liu Huijun (劉惠君) and her daughter—often called the “Taiwanese Elisa Lam,” but stranger. We reconstruct the final minutes inside the Yuanlin Finance/Economics Building (員林財經大樓): the elevator ride, the clothing left behind, and the turn into a camera-free stairwell that may have led to a B2 vehicle exit—and total erasure from CCTV. We break down viable theories (assisted departure vs. coercion vs. on-site fatality), why building design matters, and what records could still blow this case open.We discuss:Timeline: domestic dispute, scooter with key left in ignition, elevator to 11F, entry to stairwellWhy the coats & shoes matter (misdirection, crisis ritual, or coercion)Blind spots in mixed-use high-rises (2008 surveillance limitations)Call for tips: If you lived or worked near Yuying Road, Yuanlin in January 2008 and remember a mother and small child who appeared without a backstory, please contact local authorities in Taiwan. Comment on the Show by Sending Mark a Text Message.Tom Hayes v. UBS, Connecticut Superior Court case filed on October 27, 2025 seeking $400 Million (Read Complaint HERE): A tiny shift in an interest rate can move oceans of money. We follow that ripple to its breaking point, tracing how Tom Hayes became the public face of LIBOR manipulation, then—years later—won full vindication in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Along the way, we unpack the documents, emails, and internal spreadsheets that allegedly turned “commercially aware” rate submissions into an institutional practice, and the crisis‑era pivot that recast one trader as the perfect fall guy.We set the stage with a clear explanation of LIBOR's design, why a bank's submissions sit within a plausible range, and how that nuance became the hinge of subsequent court decisions. Then we walk through the complaint's central claims: that UBS policy told staff to consider the bank's trading positions, that management tracked exposures and directed desired outcomes, and that the bank later secured a non‑prosecution agreement by advancing a narrative of isolated misconduct. The result, according to the lawsuit, was a devastating chain reaction—selective disclosures, missing spreadsheets, and a jury instruction that erased the difference between choosing within a legitimate range and committing fraud.Hayes' convictions collapsed after the U.S. Second Circuit and the UK Supreme Court clarified that profit‑motivated choices are not criminal if the submitted rate stays within a genuine range of estimated borrowing costs. With legal ground restored, Hayes now sues UBS for malicious prosecution and indemnification, seeking at least $400 million in damages. We examine the stakes: lifetime earnings lost, health and family fallout, and the broader question of who should bear responsibility when corporate incentives steer behavior and later demand a scapegoat. If you care about financial regulation, corporate accountability, and how legal narratives are built and unbuilt, this story matters. What do you do when your genre just refuses to work? When you've tried every content genre you know—Action, Crime, Horror, Thriller, Performance, Love, Society, and more—and every single one just does not fit your story?Sure, some parts of several of those genres fit your story. Those parts even seem essential. Some parts feel like a stretch, but you can make them work if you squint. And some parts don't fit at all.If you're honest, it's like your story is secretly three genres in a trenchcoat trying to sneak past some gatekeeper rubric. In other words: your genre feels like an utter mess. A confusing mish-mash. Like somewhere, somehow, your story took a wrong turn, and now it's doing a bunch of things poorly and nothing really well. It simply refuses to check all the right genre boxes at the same time. And when you try to just pick the best-fitting genre and make it work, it feels like you're ham-fistedly shoving your beautiful, unique, personal creation into a standardized mold it truly doesn't fit. When genre feels like all of that, what do you do?That's what I'm exploring in this episode. I'm taking genre deeper than conventions and obligatory moments to show you what it's really measuring. You'll hear:A key reason why your story's genre is so hard to spot (hint: you're not the problem, and your story isn't either)How the content genres map onto real life—and how I can take one bike ride with my brother and spin it into four different genresHow knowing your story's genre helps your readers follow the plot—and derive meaning from your storyAnd more!Plus, I'm taking you on vacation with me. I just got back from the beach, where my brother and I rode bikes along the marsh. And in this episode, I'm bringing you along for the ride. What genre was our bike ride? Send me a Text Message! If we look at Jesus' example we would have to say that of all his names, Father is God's favorite. In the Old Testament God was called Father, only 7x. Jesus refers to God as Father 17x in the Sermon on the Mount alone! The gospels record over 200x's that Jesus called God Father. God's our Father. In Jesus day, those words were revolutionary. Never before had that been the primary way of viewing God, but it shaped everything Jesus said and did, especially his prayer life. And then this amazing thing happens, he passes it on to us. "Not only my Father," Jesus says, "your Father. He's your Abba, Papa, Daddy God." Prayer may at times be more than, but it will never be less than an on-going and on-growing personal relationship with your Father God. So climb up on his lap and pray!

Can police use text messages that a complainant voluntarily hands over without a warrant? Joseph, Michael and Alper walk through the fresh R v Dhaliwal (Oct 8, 2025) decision, recap the Supreme Court's R v Marakah (2017) framework on privacy in digital messages, and contrast R v Reeves (2018) and Lampert (2023 ONCA) on third-party devices and shared control. They unpack Section 8's “search” vs “seizure,” how passive police collection can still breach the Charter, and why 24(2) good-faith analysis often keeps the evidence in. The crew hash out when a warrant should be mandatory, the dangers of cherry-picked screenshots, and how AI-era fakery raises the stakes for authenticity and expert evidence. If you are looking for a crowd-pleasing, bigger red wine, this may be the ticket. Wait, you've never heard of Bonarda or Charbono?!? Shameful! It's time to get you edumacated! It is not uncommon that the same wine will have two different names depending on where it is from, but it is unusual that a wine that has been around for thousands of years, was once one of the most popular wine grapes in California, Savoie France, and Argentina (in fact was more widely grown than Malbec in Argentina for a while), is almost completely off everyone's radar. But no more! This is an easy drinking and food friendly red wine that we think is compatible with almost every red wine drinkers' palate. It may not be the most complex wine ever, but it is a wine that is hard not to like. We think it is a wine you should hunt down if for no other reason than it may be a wine that you are shocked is not more popular. It's way better than the average crappy Cabernet Sauvignon by a long shot! Plus, one of the wines we selected is from a rising star in California named Kenny Likitprakong who some are calling the best winemaker in California making under $25 wines. Send me a Text Message! (I can't directly respond, but I can answer questions and share comments in upcoming episodes! There's something about the turning of seasons, especially the fading of summer into fall, that reminds me of Psalm 90:12 when Moses prayed, "Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." Maybe it's the leaves showing their final act of glory before they let go, leaving behind bare branches, cold and dormant, or even seeing the skeletons pop up in neighborhood yards, jesting about death the deaf, but calling to the wise Momento Mori - remember you will die so lay down personal glory and serve the One true God. The shorter days slip quickly into evening just like how time to slips quickly into the future. It's not a dour season, but a gracious marker to number our days knowing we are but a vapor. Send Bidemi a Text Message! In this episode, host Bidemi Ologunde explored the shocking arrests of NBA figures Terry Rozier and Chauncey Billups, unraveling how gaps in background checks and integrity systems allowed high-profile sports professionals to become entangled in betting, fraud, and organized crime. He examined similar scandals across global leagues — from Brazilian and Australian football to tennis and the National Football League in the U.S. — and examined the psychology of why millionaire athletes and coaches risk everything for illicit gains. This thought-provoking analysis revealed how technology, oversight, and culture intersect in modern sports corruption.Support the show
Send me a Text Message. I've noticed that many smart, creative people avoid coaching because they think it's only for people who are lost, unsure or corporate CEO's. In this episode of Pattern Shift, I challenge that idea. I share my own stories as both a coach and a client, from working with ADHD and lifestyle coaches on my weightloss journey to helping my clients rediscover joy in their creative work. With humor, honesty, and a healthy dose of Dutch pragmatism, I explain how coaching differs from consulting, mentoring, and therapy—and why it's such a powerful way to find clarity when you're ready to grow. I also talk about how our cultural tendency to “doe maar normaal” can make asking for support feel uncomfortable, even when it's exactly what we need.If you've ever thought coaching wasn't “for you,” this episode might shift your perspective. You know me as a guide, mentor and teacher, but I've also set off on a new adventure, coaching. Coaching gets a bad rep sometimes, but when it's done right, it can be really transformational. As part of my coaching education, I'll soon need to do real coaching sessions. And it could be a really great opportunity for you to experience it at no or low cost. Send me a Text Message!Listen God is so good. I understand, every tragedy, every hurt, every funeral and every divorce; every disappointment seems to be marketing for unanswered prayer and unanswered prayers cause us to question the limits of God's goodness. But God's goodness has no limits. Not only can He help you, He wants to help you. Now I have to be honest, there are some prayers He will never answer, because He has something better in mind for us. But as we go back to Luke 18, we are going to see that there is a prayer, we can pray, that God will always answer...and quickly."God give me justice over my adversary." Now that prayer may not mean what you think it means, so you should listen and then pray!

Send me a Text Message! In this episode, Mike explores the hidden energetic truth behind the words “yes” and “no” — not just in your external decisions, but in your internal alignment. Through powerful stories, lived experiences, and embodiment of the Gene Keys, he reveals how trust, resistance, and commitment shape your reality. This is a raw and radiant conversation about creation, surrender, and what becomes possible when you stop forcing life and start saying yes to what you truly want.Key TakeawaysYou're Always Saying Yes or No — Even When You're Silent Every thought, emotion, and belief is either aligned with your desire… or with your resistance.Trusting Life Is a Practice, Not a Personality Trait Mike didn't always trust life — but experience taught him that life becomes supportive when you stop fighting it.Creation Requires Clarity, Certainty, and Commitment This three-part formula is how you energetically become a match for what you desire. You Are Always Creating — Whether You Know It or Not Saying “no” to your desires (by aligning with fear or doubt) is still a form of creation — just one you don't want.Life Is an Ally — But You Have to Let It Be When you stop getting in the way, life starts delivering what you've been wanting all along.Notable Quotes“Embarrassment is this disconnect between your reality and your identity.”“We're either saying yes to what we want or to what we don't want.”“When we don't get in the way of life, life brings us what we need.”“99% commitment equals zero commitment.”“Say yes, only yes, to what you want — and no to everything else, including worry, doubt, and fear.”Call to Action
Send me a Text Message! In Luke 18, Jesus tells a story with a meaning, often called a parable. But in this case, Jesus starts with the "why," the meaning. Often when Jesus told a parable,he wouldn't give the why. He wanted the listeners to grapple with the meaning without being fed the answer. But in this case, the why of the story is so important that Jesus tells it up front. "Don't miss this." He's saying. "I'm going to tell you a story and I want the story to always remind you of the fact that we should alwayspray and never give up. Never forget this. Always pray. Never give up.Basically Jesus is repeating a message we find over and over again in the Bible. "Don't lose heart." When it comes to prayer, find something good to pray for and then don't stop. Don't lose heart!
Send Katie a Text Message!! This week on Success by Design, I'm diving deep into one of my favorite topics: how to grow your design business thoughtfully, without letting it take over your life. I chat with Heather about the differences between W2 employees and 1099 contractors, and how choosing the right type of hire can make or break your business as you scale. We also talk about coaching, systems, and one-on-one strategies for creatives who have already hit six figures but want to push into seven. I share how I help clients identify the small tweaks that make a huge impact — from finances to marketing to operational systems — without losing the creative joy that brought them into this business in the first place.Toward the end, we get into something I'm super excited about: seasonal retail and holiday décor as a service. I walk through how to structure this kind of business in a way that keeps overhead low, maximizes convenience for clients, and still makes it profitable — because let's be honest, people love a beautifully styled home at the holidays but often don't have the time, space, or energy to make it happen themselves. If you've ever wondered how to scale, hire smart, and explore new revenue streams while staying sane, this episode is for you.Connect with Katie LinkedInBusiness Strategy Sessions for Interior Designers Free Resources for scaling your interior design firmWebsite
Comment on the Show by Sending Mark a Text Message. This episode is part of my initiative to provide access to important court decisions impacting employees in an easy to understand conversational format using AI. The speakers in the episode are AI generated and frankly sound great to listen to. Enjoy!A single HR form can decide a lawsuit. We dig into Shear v. Sisters of Charity to show how a mandatory EAP referral and a required compliance-reporting form collided with the Supreme Court's new “some harm” standard from Muldrow v. City of St. Louis—shifting what counts as an adverse employment action under the ADA and Title VII. The story tracks a familiar arc—productivity issues, a performance improvement plan (PIP), and a sudden turn when coworkers report safety concerns—then pivots to a tougher question: when does care become coercion? We walk through the core facts with clarity: the performance improvement plan, the mandatory referral to an outside EAP provider, and the form that would send attendance and treatment compliance back to the employer as a condition of keeping the job. That form becomes the fault line. Under the old “significant change” rule, a court might see the referral as inconvenient but not legally adverse. After Muldro, the bar drops. Non-monetary harms like coerced disclosures and loss of autonomy now qualify if they leave an employee worse off in a tangible way. We also weigh the employer's best defense—policy consistency across employees—and why uniform rules do not automatically defeat a “regarded as disabled” claim when the trigger is a perceived mental health condition. You'll hear practical guidance woven through the analysis. For employers: narrow data collection, separate safety from performance, document objective reasons, and avoid tying privacy waivers to job survival. For employees: understand how “some harm” broadens viable claims, especially around privacy and compelled consent. By the end, you'll see how Muldro reshapes risk around EAP mandates, monitoring, lateral transfers, and other once “minor” actions—and why the Shear case will influence where courts draw the line between genuine concern and unlawful stereotyping. Comment on the Show by Sending Mark a Text Message.Your next performance review might be scored by a model you've never met. We dig into how AI is reshaping hiring, promotion, discipline, and workplace surveillance, and we explain what that means for your rights under anti-discrimination and privacy laws. From the promise of efficiency to the reality of bias, we unpack why intent isn't required for liability and how disparate impact applies whether a manager or a machine makes the call.We walk through real examples, including Amazon's abandoned hiring tool that learned to prefer men, and the EEOC's first AI hiring settlement that signaled employers can't outsource accountability to vendors. We also trace the policy whiplash: federal agencies stepping back from guidance, while states and cities step up. New York City's bias audits and applicant notices, Illinois's expanded protections and BIPA enforcement, and California's “No Robobosses” proposals point to a patchwork of rules that matter the moment software touches your resume, your video interview, or your keyboard.Surveillance is expanding too. Keystroke tracking, productivity dashboards, and biometric tools promise insight but raise serious questions about consent, data handling, and monitoring off-duty or in private spaces. We share practical steps: ask if AI is used in decisions about you, request accessible alternatives, document outcomes that don't add up, and remember that retaliation for raising concerns is illegal. The technology may be new, but your core protections are not. Subscribe for more clear guidance on navigating AI at work, share this conversation with a colleague who needs it, and leave a review to help others find the show. Send me a Text Message! We are God's children. We are not God's friends. We are not God's neighbors. We're His kids. That's what Jesus was teaching about prayer and that's why He said, "When you pray, say Father." Nobody else called God father. Jesus said, "When you pray say Father." Smtms we make prayer so complicated. There are depths to prayer that I may never fully explore or understand. But there is also meant to be a simplicity and an ease to prayer that is the ease of a kid coming to daddy. Papa God. Stop tryng to earn it. We don't come into His presence because we earn it. We come in because He loves us. We come in because it's home and you are His kid!
