Angelos Iatridis has a philosophy that stuck with us: if you want to be a better man, you make better wine. That's the kind of thoughtful conversation we get into in this special episode, a deep dive into PDO Amyndeon and PGI Florina, two of Greece's protected wine designations, with Angelos from Alpha Estate. He talks about Xinomavro, the region's signature red grape, which is often described as sitting somewhere between Nebbiolo and Pinot Noir, but shaped entirely by Amyndeon's high altitude, its ring of three mountains, and two nearby lakes that keep the climate in balance. He explains why the sandy, limestone soil left behind by an ancient lake gives the wine its acidity, and how that same acidity lets Xinomavro age for decades, slowly turning from red fruit into notes of dried tomato and olive paste. Angelos also opens up about how climate change has actually helped ripening in Amyndeon over the last 30 years, why he believes the best winemaking technology should be invisible in the glass, and how his own daughter's research helped preserve the purest expression of the grape for the next generation. By the end, he's picked the exact bottle he'd bring to a big Sunday family dinner, one he says carries both place and memory. It's a warm, generous conversation with someone who clearly loves what he does, and you'll come away wanting to track down a bottle of his Xinomavro for yourself.Send us a Text Message and we'll respond in our next episode!Contact The Wine Pair Podcast - we'd love to hear from you!Visit our website, leave a review, and reach out to us: https://thewinepairpodcast.com/Follow and DM us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thewinepairpodcast/Send us an email: joe@thewinepairpodcast.com

That 45-minute workout plan feels completely doable when you're making it on a Sunday. Same with the meal prep, the protein goals, the whole “this is the week I get it together” plan. And then Tuesday hits…Your sleep is off, work is a lot, someone in the house gets sick, and suddenly the routine that looked so reasonable a few days ago has completely crumbled. Then comes the “why can't I stick with anything?” feeling that you failed. But what if the plan was just never built to survive a hard week?In this episode, we're talking about why the health routines that look best on paper often fall apart the second life gets messy. Plus, we'll get into the “survival test” every routine needs to pass, and how to make the healthy choice the easy choice before your mood has a chance to talk you out of it.ReferencesAmy's KitchenSecure your spot for the September round of The 30/30 Program now (spaces limited).Get the free podcast roadmap for The Obesity GuideSubscribe to my Youtube channelAll of the information on this podcast is for general informational purposes only. Send me a Text Message!Well this isn't the message I preached last Sunday on the Psalms, but it is the Psalm I would have preached on if I wasn't on vacation. :) Psalm 77 is a powerful Psalm on gratitude in the midst of hard times. Few spiritual practices are as easy to understand, and require so little "practice" as gratitude, but honestly it is so powerful, so helpful, so refreshing. Maybe this Psalm will spur us on to gratitude!
Every SMS marketing platform is pushing something called RCS right now, telling you it's the future of texting your customers. And the upgrade is real - but the pitch is leaving out a few things worth knowing before you make any decisions. RCS, which stands for Rich Communication Services, isn't actually new technology. It was standardized back in 2007. The reason everyone is suddenly talking about it in 2026 is that Apple only added support for it in iOS 18, which came out in fall 2024. Once iPhone users were covered, rich messaging across both major platforms became possible for the first time - and that's what's driving all the noise. The difference between SMS and RCS is genuinely significant. Instead of a plain text from a string of random numbers, your customers see your actual brand name, logo, and a verified badge. Instead of compressed, blurry product images, they see high-res photos. Instead of a link, they get tappable buttons - Shop Now, Track Your Order - right inside the message thread. It's a real upgrade in how branded and trustworthy your texts look and feel. But there's an approval process, a waitlist with no guaranteed timeline, a country availability limitation, and a few things about how to measure performance that most platforms aren't mentioning. And none of it matters if your SMS foundation isn't solid first. In this episode I break down what RCS actually is, what it takes to get set up, what it genuinely does better than SMS, and my honest take on whether it's worth pursuing right now. ✨ In this episode, you'll learn: Why RCS isn't new - and what actually changed to make everyone talk about it now What the difference between an SMS and an RCS message actually looks and feels like as a consumer What the approval process involves and why the timeline is unpredictable Why RCS has an automatic SMS fallback - and why that matters for your reach Which 10 countries RCS is currently available in Why RCS delivery reporting is actually more reliable than SMS - and what that means for your data The trust and anti-phishing benefits that come with being a verified RCS sender Why click rate isn't the right metric to compare RCS and SMS performance How to think about RCS as a layer on top of SMS - not a replacement for it This isn't hype you should ignore. But it's not an emergency switch either. Get your fundamentals right first - and then RCS can be a genuinely good next layer. Work with Joy Joya: https://joyjoya.com

Are you a fan of powerful red wines like Châteauneuf-du-Pape but don't love the price tag? Then Gigondas may be the wine you've been waiting for. Gigondas is often called the “little brother” of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and shares many of the same characteristics including hailing from the southern Rhône in France and containing the same GSM or Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre grapes in its blend. And while it is a powerful wine that is the perfect companion to steak frites, it is also extremely balanced and elegant. We'll explore the history and techniques behind this fabulous wine, but more importantly, we'll give you our honest review of two Gigondas wines to let you know if either or both are worth your hard-earned money. And as we do every week, we'll round out our conversation with some “wine in the news this week” fun as well as random side conversations like the names of the two main characters in Revenue of the Nerds. It's hard to explain. You just have to listen. Send me a Text Message! What did Jesus say to Martha when she came complaining about Mary? "Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled over so many things, but only one thing is needed, one thing is necessary." Or perhaps in Martha's only one thing was lacking. With all her worry and hurry she was still lacking something. In essence Jesus was saying, "Mary has chosen what you need. What good would it do to take away from Mary, what you need?" I wonder how many of us are missing what we need because we are hurry to get something we think we lack.Only one thing is needed. Jesus doesn't say only one thing is possible. He doesn't say, "If you ever do anything other than this one thing, then you are wasting your time." He is simply telling us in midst of our mindlessness, distractions, hurry and worry, that there is one thing that is necessary. We must listen to His Words. So here is my question, how many of us are choosing the wrong one thing?

Send me a Text Message!Sometimes we are tempted to think that words are just words. Right? We live in a world with a lot of words. Sometimes it feels like word overload. But is there really such a thing as "just words?" Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me. Remember that schoolyard ditty? We said it to try to convince ourselves that words couldn't hurt us, but we knew it was just a lie. Words can hurt. Words can bring life. Words can reshape a day, a year, even a life. And those are just our words. Think about the potential power of God-Words. God's words created the heavens and the earth. God's words bring healing. The words of Jesus were words of life. When it comes to God, there's no such thing as "just words."
Send me a Text Message! In a number of his books, C.S. Lewis compares the Christian life to a dance with God. He calls it the Great Dance, and says, "Each one of us has to enter that pattern, and take our place in the dance. There is no other way to the happiness for which we were made." See when it comes to the life of faith, there is a great difference between dancing by the book and hearing the music.Living by the book is all about behaviors and rules and regulations, taking the right steps. But entering into the great dance is all about relationship, romance and joy. You know what? It's hard to dance, if you can't hear the music. Can you hear the music?

Send me a Text Message! In this episode I'm going to ask the question, "Why don't I hunger for God's Words?" Maybe it's because we aren't sure we really believe in the Bible. When someone says that to me, I'm thinking really? Which part do you not believe? Is it the poetry in the Psalms, or the wisdom of Proverbs? Maybe it was the way Jesus interacted with people? Or maybe you don't believe that stealing and lying is bad?And I'm not saying that there aren't parts of the Bible, especially the Old Testament, that aren't hard. But some of us use that as self-imposed Word-famine excuse. It's Just too hard! But let's be honest, sometimes what's hard about the Bible is what we do understand, not what we don't understand. Right? So in this episode, I'll ask you ponder that question, "Why don't I hunger for God's Words?
For twenty years, Kelsey Buchalter cycled through hospitals, medications, and every conventional treatment psychiatry could offer for anorexia, bulimia, and anxiety. None of it touched the underlying problem. What finally did was a single instruction from a nutritionist: eat only red meat and eggs for ten days. Now a health coach at Ovadia Heart Health, Kelsey sits down with Dr. Philip Ovadia and Jack Heald to trace the biological mechanism behind that shift, and to challenge a premise most mental health treatment never questions: that the mind can be repaired while the body remains inflamed and malnourished. She draws a sharp distinction between disordered eating and dietary intervention, one that has nothing to do with what's on the plate and everything to do with why it's there. The conversation moves through decision fatigue, the vagus nerve's surprising link to the human voice, and the difference between healing from fear versus healing from self-respect. It is a story about what happens when biology gets treated before anyone tries to talk the mind into changing.BIG IDEABefore psychology can do its work, biology has to be stabilized first, and for Kelsey Buchalter, that meant confronting the idea that her mental illness was never a character flaw but a body in crisis.kelsey buchalterinstagram: kelseybuchalterPodcast: The Human TheaterSend Dr. Ovadia a Text Message. When a disaster is prevented, it doesn't make the news and most don't hear about it; and that's exactly the problem. In this episode of the Public Health Insight Podcast with Dr. Barry Davis, biostatistician and author of The Preventioneers, we explore why prevention's biggest successes stay invisible. We discuss why climate warnings have gone unheeded for 170 years, why treatment beats prevention for the "popular vote," and how to rebuild trust with a public that distrusts experts. The evidentiary chain that ultimately identified Rex Heuermann as the Gilgo Beach killer began with two pieces of information that sat dormant for more than a decade: a roommate's description of a first-generation Chevrolet Avalanche, and a text message from a burner phone sent after a failed encounter the night before Amber Costello disappeared. This look back traces that chain from its origin through to the guilty plea.On September 1, 2010, a man matching Heuermann's description arrived at a West Babylon residence to meet Costello. Her roommate ran a scam, and the man left. A text followed from the burner: an acknowledgment of what happened and a request for a return visit. The following night, the man returned. Costello walked out to meet him. Her roommate, Dave Schaller, observed the truck. Costello was never seen again. When the Gilgo Beach task force was formed in 2022 and ran the vehicle description through registration databases, Heuermann's name surfaced. From there — surveillance, the pizza-crust DNA recovery, search warrants, the planning document, electronic device seizures, and ultimately the arrest and guilty plea. The segment also examines, with psychotherapist Shavaun Scott, the erosion-of-agency pattern connecting the Heuermann and Richins cases. Asa Ellerup spent twenty-seven years married to Heuermann and defended him for three years after his arrest before his guilty plea to eight murders. Eric Richins documented his wife's financial misconduct, changed his estate, and still could not leave. Scott examines the incremental loss of boundaries that keeps people in place — and turns the clinical research toward the listener. Heuermann is expected to be sentenced to three consecutive life terms plus an additional hundred years. We revisit where the matter stood at the time of our reporting.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/ Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? It's a Psalm of Lament, with a recurring theme of hope. No matter how hard the days or how dark the night, hope is fuel for our hearts. If you are stuck in a Sauvignon Blanc rut, then Verdejo is here to come to your rescue. This great white wine from Rueda Spain is very similar to Sauvignon Blanc, in fact it is sometimes called the “love child” between Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio, and it combines many of the wonderful tropical fruit and citrus smells and flavors of Sauv Blanc with just a bit more mouthfeel. This is a lovely wine from Spain's most important white wine region. Verdejo is a fantastic summer wine, great for sipping outdoors, and awesome with fish and shellfish, fried and salty foods, as well as chicken and charcuterie. It still flies a little under the radar, which is why now is the perfect time to be the one to introduce Verdejo to your family and friends and be considered the cool kid dropping wine knowledge! Comment on the Show by Sending Mark a Text Message.Your boss slides over a severance agreement and says you have 24 hours to sign. Your heart rate spikes, your mind goes blank, and you suddenly realize you don't need “more content” you need the right answer right now. We dig into a new tool designed for exactly that moment: the Employee Survival Guide AI (https://markx4umtq.customgpt-agents.com), built to help you navigate severance, discrimination questions, and accommodation requests without drowning in information overload. We talk through what makes this different from a generic chatbot. The big point is trust: AI can hallucinate, so we focus on the safeguard that matters most here, the Employee Survival Guide AI (https://markx4umtq.customgpt-agents.com) is ring-fenced to the show's verified transcripts. That means it searches and synthesizes guidance drawn only from nearly 250 episodes of expert-backed workplace rights and employment advice, instead of pulling random policies from the wider internet. If you've ever worried about getting confident-sounding but wrong HR guidance, this design choice is the whole game. Then we get practical. We look at the built-in starter prompts that solve the “I don't even know what to ask” problem when you're stressed. Using the severance scenario, we walk through how the Employee Survival Guide AI (https://markx4umtq.customgpt-agents.com) connects the dots across topics like non-compete clauses, unused PTO payout language, and outplacement services, and how it can lay out a clear order of operations like don't sign immediately and check your employee handbook. We close with the bigger question: if employees can access precise, expert knowledge in seconds, how much does that shrink the power gap with corporate HR?Use the Employee Survival Guide AI (https://markx4umtq.customgpt-agents.com), try a starter prompt, and tell us what workplace situation you want to pressure-test. If this helped, subscribe, share with a friend who's dealing with HR right now, and leave a review. Send me a Text Message!Do I have an urgent hunger for God's Words? First can I define my terms? Here's the deal, if it's not important, it can't be urgent. The dictionary defines urgency as "something of importance requiring swift action. Urgency is an earnest and persistent response to a pressing situation." In other words, urgency is a subset of what's important. If it's not important, it can't be urgent. Now any number of issues in our world today could cause a sense of urgency. But here is what I think, while many things could seem urgent, what actually becomes consistently urgent is whatever we think will brings us life and is missing. In other words, urgency is defined by hunger. Urgency happens when we lack something which we think will bring us life. So ask yourself, "Do I have an urgent hunger for God's Words?

Send me a Text Message!Listen, there are voices in this world, voices that some of you have listened to all your life. Some of them were bad voices, mean, always critical, made you feel like you had nothing to offer the world. You can't be fixed, never succeed and can't be forgiven. Some of you on the other hand, you've had some great voices speaking into your life through the years; words of affirmation and courage, words of love and wisdom. Whether the voices of the people in your life, have been good or bad. Whether you have chosen to listen or not. There is one voice above all others that we need to hear. It's God's voice. Listen for God's voice deep in your heart. Nobody cheers for you like him. He delights in you. He's paying attention, shaping you, holding you, ever faithful and forgiving.

Comment on the Show by Sending Mark a Text Message. One email can change everything, especially when it's a disability disclosure. We dig into the real-world chain reaction that follows when a top-performing executive director running global laboratories is told her job must become “more visible” and she explains that severe anxiety, panic disorder with agoraphobia, and social anxiety make constant presentations, client dinners, and heavy social interaction a medical minefield. We walk through the ADA reasonable accommodation framework in plain English: what the interactive process is supposed to look like, why “essential functions” are the battleground, and how HR documentation can cross the line from verification into obstruction. You'll hear the pivotal timeline details, including a downgraded performance review submitted within 24 hours of the disclosure, a demand for medical opinions on duties that weren't even defined yet, and a hard no on key accommodations without any alternative brainstorming. Then we follow the case into the courtroom and beyond: the retaliation allegations, the “sham investigation” theme, the $24,030,000 jury verdict with $10 million in punitive damages, and the appeal that collapses on civil procedure because the defense fails to properly preserve arguments under Rule 50 and fails to develop its punitive damages challenge. If you manage people, work in HR, or just want to understand how ADA compliance can go catastrophically wrong, this story is a practical checklist wrapped in a legal thriller. Comment on the Show by Sending Mark a Text Message. What happens when freedom of speech collides with the harsh realities of workplace politics? Join Mark Carey and his co-hosts in this riveting episode of the Employee Survival Guide®, as they dissect the intricate legal battle of Arocho-Rodriguez versus Concepcion—a case that reveals the chilling consequences of political retaliation and freedom of speech in the workplace. Rodriguez, a dedicated municipal employee, found himself the target of severe workplace bullying and ultimately faced a lockout after a political shift left him vulnerable. Despite a compelling narrative of retaliation, a federal judge dismissed his case, citing insufficient evidence linking his political affiliation to the adverse actions against him. This episode unravels the critical importance of objective proof in legal claims, reminding listeners that compelling stories alone do not suffice in court. Mark and his co-hosts explore the labyrinth of employment law, including the concept of qualified immunity and the significance of the chain of command. They delve into the rigorous standards required to prove political discrimination, offering invaluable insights into navigating the often murky waters of employment disputes. Listeners will gain a deeper understanding of their rights as employees, particularly in cases of workplace discrimination, retaliation, and hostile work environments. As they navigate this complex case, Mark and his team provide essential tips for those facing similar challenges, emphasizing the necessity of concrete evidence to support claims of workplace retaliation. They discuss the implications of the ruling on employee rights and the importance of being equipped with the right knowledge to advocate for oneself in a potentially hostile work culture. Whether you're dealing with workplace bullies, discrimination, or navigating employment contracts, this episode serves as a crucial guide for empowering employees to stand up for their rights. With a focus on the realities of employment law and the often-overlooked nuances of workplace dynamics, this episode is a must-listen for anyone seeking to understand their rights in the face of adversity. Tune in to learn about the critical intersection of freedom of speech and employee rights, and discover how to navigate the complexities of workplace challenges with confidence. Comment on the Show by Sending Mark a Text Message. You follow the rules, go to HR, and file a sensitive request for a religious accommodation. Then your badge stops working and a formal investigation appears out of nowhere. That's the opening puzzle we use to examine a high-stakes federal lawsuit brought by two former Hasbro managers who say their COVID-19 vaccine mandate exemption requests set off a chain reaction that looked like retaliation, not routine compliance. We walk through the timeline allegations in detail, from the exemption language grounded in sincerely held religious beliefs to the company's response, including demands to “prove” sincerity. We also dig into why the complaint spends so much time on serious health realities even though the ADA disability claims are described as dismissed and not pursued on appeal, and how those facts can still shape a retaliation and hostile work environment story. If you've ever wondered how terms like temporal proximity, pretext, constructive discharge, and the McDonnell Douglas framework work in real life, this case is a clear window into the mechanics. Then we pivot to Hasbro's litigation posture: broad denials, a doubled-down justification tied to the summer camp masking incident, and a lineup of affirmative defenses like undue hardship. The biggest twist comes from the First Circuit Court of Appeals, which revives the religious discrimination and retaliation claims after a dismissal, flags a “phantom” masking alternative, and stresses that even a granted accommodation does not erase separate retaliation allegations. If you care about employment law, HR compliance, workplace rights, or religious accommodation policies, listen through to the end and tell us what you think: when does enforcement cross the line into punishment? Send me a Text Message! In Exodus 33, God tells Moses He is saying "yes" to Moses' prayer. Why? "Because you have found favor with me and you are my friend." Every time I read those words, it brings tears to my eyes. In part because I'm reminded how often I seek his favor over his friendship. In part because of the memories that flood my mind. Times when I've gone on long drives, just because I wanted uninterrupted time with God. Times when I've opened the Bible and it's like having coffee with Jesus. And I find myself praying, "God, whether you breakthrough out there or not, would you please breakthrough in my heart. In the last chapters of my life I just want to be known as a friend of God. What if nothing matters more than this? Are you a friend of God?

Send me a Text Message! What if I told you that there is a potential breakthrough available to you that would give you a 100 fold return on your life? I know "life" is a broad all encompassing word, but that's really what we are looking for -- the kind of life that goes broad and deep -- and far and wide. The kind of life that impacts every arena of my life, my relationships, my vocation, my causes and passions; my mental health andphysical health and relational health. Do you need a breakthrough to more life?In the next four series, we will talk about four spiritual practices that I think will put us in a place where God's gracious hand is upon us. The first is saturation in scripture. We need more than bread! What will bring the greatest return for my life? In Mark 4:1-20, Jesus is suggesting it's listening to, learning from and leaning into God's words!
Cardiac imaging expert Kim Mischo spent 20 years inside the cardiology machine — running nuclear stress tests that told patients they were fine, then watching some of those patients have heart attacks the following week. She knew the system was broken long before she could prove it.Now she can prove it.A non-invasive scan exists that can detect coronary artery disease at 5% blockage — before symptoms, before a stress test would ever flag anything. It's been guideline-recommended since 2021. It's 99% accurate. And insurance won't cover it.The reason why is the part of this conversation that will stay with you.Dr. Philip Ovadia and Kim Mischo walk through the technology, the economics, and the quiet institutional logic that keeps a life-saving diagnostic tool out of reach for most Americans — while a far less accurate, far more expensive alternative continues to dominate cardiology practices nationwide. This is a conversation about what early detection of heart disease could look like, and why it doesn't yet.BIG IDEABetween 50 and 60 percent of patients die from their first heart attack — which means the insurance company never had to pay a single claim related to their coronary disease.Kim Mischo Contact Info: Website: https://clearheartandlung.com/Send Dr. Ovadia a Text Message. Send me a Text Message!Psalm 51 is all about sin. Well not just sin. It's all about sin and the overflowing, relentlessly overwhelming love of God. Here's the deal, no one sins out of duty. We sin when we believe that God cannot satisfy my heart. There was a time in David's life where God was the all-satisfying pursuit of his heart. This writer of psalms. This warrior-poet-King with a huge appetite for life. This passionate worshipper of God. There was a time in his life where he had lost everything that we would consider necessary for the good life. He was living in caves on the run from a King who wanted to kill him. Lost his family. Lost his home. Lost his freedom. But when you read the Psalms, you realize that when David had nothing, he realized God was his everything. God was his life. But then when he experienced success, he went from "God is my life" to "my life is good." Here's the deal, the point of Psalm 51 is not just that we would say no to sin. The point of Psalm 51 is that we gain the life that comes from saying yes to God!
