Newly released text messages between the parents of Anna Kepner's sixteen-year-old stepbrother reveal what they were really focused on in the hours after her body was found — and it wasn't grief.According to court filings in an ongoing custody battle, the suspect's mother texted that her son "just keeps repeating over and over he can't remember anything." The messages show discussions about keeping things quiet, damage control efforts while an eighteen-year-old girl lay dead. A former sheriff's detective who reviewed the texts said the family ran their own PR department. Both of the suspect's parents have acknowledged in court documents that he is a suspect in the FBI investigation.Anna Kepner was found on November 7th, 2025, stuffed under a bed on the Carnival Horizon cruise ship, wrapped in a blanket and covered with life vests. Her death has been ruled a homicide by mechanical asphyxiation. Three months later, her stepbrother appeared at Miami's James Lawrence King Federal Justice Centre facing multiple federal charges. Anna's father told the Daily Mail he was "unable to confirm or deny" that the charges include murder and rape — directly contradicting preliminary November findings indicating no signs of sexual assault.Behavioral evidence has taken on new weight in light of the potential charges. Court documents reference allegations of obsession, prior physical incidents in the home, and skipped medication on the cruise. Anna's ex-boyfriend's father has stated she was scared of her stepbrother. Her family has publicly accused the suspect's father of interfering with the investigation. Subpoenas have targeted Temple Christian School and Florida DCF.Anna wanted to join the Navy. She went on a family vacation and never came home. Prosecutors reportedly intend to seek adult charges. If you think the only great wine coming out of Bordeaux is red, you've got it wrong! When most people think of Bordeaux wine, they think of red wines that are anchored by Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. But, did you know that White Bordeaux AKA Bordeaux Blanc may be the white wine you have always loved but didn't know, because it is anchored by Sauvignon Blanc? That's what we are exploring in this episode, and we are going to find out just what makes it so fabulous. Spoiler Alert! Although you may not have heard about White Bordeaux, you need to add it to your wine list because this wine slaps. And we found two great wines that are reasonably priced that we think you should buy! We'll also teach about some of the fun facts surrounding the wine. For instance, did you know that prior to 1956 60% of the wine made in Bordeaux was white? We bet you didn't! In this episode of 1001 Songs That Make You Want To Die, we take on WHERE IS MY HUSBAND by RAYE — a song that somehow manages to be chaotic, catchy, and deeply unhinged all at once. We unpack the vocal acrobatics, the theatre-kid energy, and the lyrical panic of a woman sprinting through emotional traffic with zero plan and maximum confidence. Along the way, we ask the important questions: is this genius, is this annoying, or is it both at the same time? Plus, a brutally honest breakdown of the song's backstory, production choices, cultural context, and the inevitable question that defines the show — does this track earn its place on the list, or is it getting off lightly? DUBBY DUBBY is declaring WAR on big Energy! They memorized it. They carried it with them everywhere they went. They prided themselves on being scripture experts. But they were missing the glorious goal of scripture. What is the glorious goal of scripture? That's what this episode is all about. But let me simply say this,  knowledge of God was not the same as knowing God; loving the scriptures is not the same as loving God; reading God's words is not the same as listening to God. What is the glorious goal of scripture? Encountering the WORD.

But at first glance, it seems like it. He asks a man who has been an invalid for 38 years, if he wants to be made well. It's a seemingly outrageous question right? Except sometimes it needs to be asked. Sometimes we've gotten used to our brokenness. We become friends with our hopelessness. It becomes part of our identity. So do you want to be made well?Perhaps it's time to say yes.

Send me a Text Message! In the last part of John 4, we find a story. I'm calling it a "seventh hour" story. It's a story of Jesus healing a man's dying son, with just a word, from long distance. The healing took place at the seventh hour. And I imagine that forever after when this family would rehearse God's faithfulness they would share their seventh hour story. A time when God came through even before they knew He came through. A time when they were given a word from Jesus and they responded. So just ask yourself, "what's my seventh hour story?" If I don't have one, perhaps it's because I haven't responded to His Word?

It's one of the most misunderstood conditions out there, and a lot of people are misdiagnosed, under-treated, or given the same tired advice: “just lose weight” or “take the pill and see.” In this episode, I'm joined by endocrinologist Dr Sabrina Huq to clear things up. We talk about what PCOS actually is, how to get properly diagnosed (including the key lab tests), and why spotting it early can change your long-term health, including your ability to have a healthy, natural pregnancy. Comment on the Show by Sending Mark a Text Message. What would you do if your career was at stake, and your integrity was challenged by the very system you worked for? In this gripping episode of Employee Survival Guide®, Mark Carey unravels the whistleblowing legal saga of Trevor Murray, a strategist at UBS who faced a harrowing integrity dilemma in the cutthroat world of Wall Street. As the pressure mounted to alter his research reports to benefit the trading desk, Murray found himself at a crossroads, ultimately choosing whistleblowing on unethical practices that threatened not just his job, but the very fabric of corporate integrity. This episode takes you on a deep dive into the murky waters of employment law, focusing on pivotal legislation such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and the Dodd-Frank Act. Over an arduous 14-year journey through various legal battles, Murray's case culminated in a landmark Supreme Court decision that redefined whistleblowing, clarifying that the intent to retaliate does not need to be proven for a case to hold water. But as we celebrate this legal victory, we must also confront the harsh realities faced by whistleblowers. Are the protections offered by the law truly effective, or do they merely exist on paper? Join us as we explore the moral and ethical challenges that arise in a hostile work environment, shedding light on critical issues like employee rights, retaliation, and workplace discrimination. Murray's story raises vital questions about the culture of silence that often pervades corporate America, and the toll that such battles can take on individuals' lives and careers. Through this lens, we examine the broader implications of employment law issues, from severance negotiations to performance improvement plans, and the importance of employee advocacy in navigating workplace dynamics. Whether you're an employee grappling with a toxic work culture, a manager striving for a healthier workplace, or someone interested in the intricacies of employment law, this episode is packed with insights and practical advice. The greek word translated as "had to" is often a word that signifies a divine necessity. Perhaps it was a divine necessity for Jesus to go through Samaria. God had a divine appointment set up for Jesus with a woman in Samaria. So here's the deal. Our story is shaped by our have-to. What I have to do defines me. Jesus was defined by the have-to of Father God. The heart of the Father compelled him to compassion and because of love, he had to share the gospel, the good news. So ask yourself, "What is my have-to?"

Send Katie a Text Message!! If you've ever found yourself thinking, “I swear I've already answered this,” while a team member pings you yet again, this episode is for you.Today, I'm unpacking one of the most exhausting leadership moments I see with designers — when your team keeps asking the same questions over and over, and it starts to make you wonder if you're doing something wrong as a leader. I want to say this clearly right out of the gate: this isn't a sign that you're failing. It's feedback. And when you understand what that feedback is actually pointing to, everything starts to shift. In this episode, I talk honestly about why repeated questions usually aren't a communication problem or a documentation problem — even though that's where most of us go first. More SOPs, more explanations, or even questioning whether you hired the wrong person often feels like the logical next step. But in my experience, that approach only reinforces the dynamic that's burning you out. What your team is really asking — whether they realize it or not — is whether they're allowed to decide without you.We dive into the idea of decision ownership and why so many creative leaders accidentally hold onto it longer than they should. I share how being the fixer, the closer, and the safety net can quietly train your team to outsource judgment back to you — even when they're capable of more. I also walk you through the leadership shift from “doing” to “designing,” and how your role as CEO is less about approving every choice and more about building confident decision-makers.I also get very practical in this episode. I share how we've handled this inside my own firm, including why we clarified decision lanes, created clearer reporting structures, limited unnecessary visibility in project management software, and normalized thoughtful mistakes instead of punishing them. We talk about why mistakes — when made inside clear guardrails — actually build confidence instead of eroding it.You'll hear how hiring ties directly into this, why you're not hiring extra hands but judgment, and how we've refined our hiring process over the years to make sure people are truly set up to succeed. I also explain why the 90-day review period is one of the most powerful tools you can use to build trust, clarity, and alignment on your team — without fear or drama. We also talk about seasons. Sometimes the issue isn't that someone is a bad hire — it's that their season has changed. Learning how to recognize that, have honest conversations, and adjust roles accordingly is part of real leadership. I share a recent example from my own team where a simple conversation created massive relief, clarity, and momentum for everyone involved. And if this conversation hits close to home and you want help untangling it, I offer a free 15-minute problem-solving session where we focus on one real leadership challenge in your business. You aren't the only one. In fact, you probably have an enemy or two, who is loved like that by God, as well. I needed to hear that! Who knows what you might discover in this greatest, most famous verse?

Send us a Text Message about the podcastWhat if the antidote to polarization isn't a louder argument, but a quieter practice of showing up, listening, and serving together? Grantley sits down with Jim Koppel—educator, coalition-builder, and cofounder of Strategic Applications International and Servant Forge—whose career stretches from late-night ride-alongs with a gang unit to shaping national prevention policy and facilitating 21st century policing reforms. The thread through it all: proximity changes outcomes. When people meet face to face, when training centers de-escalation and culture, and when youth have real jobs and mentors, communities get safer. We unpack the five protective factors that keep young people on track—hope, caring adults, skills, control, and altruism—and why employment quietly powers them all. Jim shares what 20,000 listening-session voices taught his team about fear, bias, and structural gaps like language access that distort incident reports and deepen mistrust. We also examine how the Minneapolis Police Department reframed training around the sanctity of life, showing how policy and practice can diverge across agencies and why curriculum quality matters as much as length. Then we pivot to the Freedom Fast, a civic invitation rooted in American history and embraced across faiths and the nonreligious alike: six monthly fasts on the fourth leading to July 4. Fasting here is broad—food, social media, or anything that creates room to reflect. The aim is simple and demanding: pause, relate, and serve beyond the headlines. As states consider resolutions and communities pilot models, we make the case that a more perfect union is built in small, repeatable acts—on front porches, in plazas, at the mailbox. If this resonates, subscribe, share with a neighbor, and leave a review to help others find the show. What happens when the medication that's finally helping you is no longer affordable? If you've had success on Mounjaro or Zepbound but need to switch to a more affordable option like Ozempic for maintenance, you're probably wondering: will this actually work?
