    I've been doing a lot of meditating recently - I don't know if it's due to age, all the changes happening at once in my life, the dark dark darkness of it all or what, but I somehow came to a few realizations that I hope you don't mind me including in this podcast. This week we're starting with our 5 minute walking warm-up then heading into a 5 minute jog, 3 minutes of brisk walking, 8 minutes of jogging, 3 minutes of that brisk walking and 5 minutes of jogging followed by a cool-down.

    Oh snap - it's 2015 y'all! I'm a little bit concerned about how quickly time is going by these days and also concerned about the way my winter weight isn't just creeping up on me, it basically decided to arrive unannounced in order to crash on my couch for an undetermined amount of time. Well, now that I've forked over the money for a gym membership and new running shoes, I'm ready to evict that bitch and get my ass in gear to run a 10k this summer (I realize that a half marathon would've been more impressive, but all that training would really interfere with my drinking schedule). Thus, here is Week 1 version 4(!!!) of the Chubby Jones Couch to 5k podcast. I think I found some great music to get us started with a 5 minute walking warmup followed by intervals of 60 seconds of running jogging and 90 seconds of brisk walking for a total of 20 minutes (the math on this is a little iffy, but whatever).     I'm back everybody and I'll be starting from the beginning all over again thanks to a nasty case of pneumonia that lasted for an entire month. My lungs are crappy but I'm determined to get back out there and show them who's boss (the boss is me in case anyone was wondering). For week 1 we start out with a 5 minute walking warm-up followed by alternating 60 seconds of jogging with 90 seconds of brisk walking for a total of 20 minutes. Afterwards, reward yourself with some water and a nice pat on the tush for a job well done. Do this interval at least three times before moving on to Week 2.     I enjoyed the music so much this week that I'm using it for the rest of the intervals!   Today's run will be 5 minutes of your walking warmup followed by ten minutes of jogging, 3 walking, 10 jogging and finishing out the music with walking.

    Wow, week 5 interval 3 is no joke. We're running for a full 20 minutes today. Now, before you go for a box of tissues to wipe away your tears, please keep in mind that you do not need to sprint this or even go as fast as maybe you have on some of your other interval runs. If you're jogging at a 3.0 pace, that's ok - just keep picking up your feet. All you can ask of yourself is to give it your all.   Our music for this run is pretty great (in my humble opinion).     Week 4 is already here and this one is all over the place but I know you can do it! We start out with our 5 minute walking warm-up, followed by 3 minutes of jogging. Then we walk for 90 seconds, followed by a 5 minute run. Don't be scared, it will all go by quickly.     I'm starting a 10k training podcast to follow Hal Higdon's 10k training program. The workouts for this one aren't as clear cut as the 5k training since there aren't intervals with running and walking - but hopefully we'll get through this together anyway. First up is the 2.5 mile run which I'm equating to 25 minutes of running. We'll be doing a 5 minute warm-up and a 5 minute cool down.     We're already on week 7! My time flies when you're having fun. Week 7 has the same intervals (well, there really isn't an interval) for all three days of running so you'll only see one podcast for this week. We're doing 5 minutes of walking as a warmup and then 25 big minutes of jogging/running/sweating together. Get pumped!
