TO PURCHASE VINNIE'S WORKOUT VIDEOS, CLICK THIS LINK: https://vinnietortorich.com/workout Bang for Your Buck Vinnie had a consult with a woman focused on ultra-running who trains hard. However, the harder she trains, the harder it becomes to succeed. (2:45) Vinnie (and other coaches she has hired) has told her she's training too hard. She needs to focus on what she's doing when she's *not* in the game. (14:00) He uses his own training history as an example. Optimal training happens in Zone 2, low and slow. (21:00) Training with a planned "down" schedule helps your body recover better and build endurance. (27:00) The process is similar when doing anaerobic exercises (weight training). (28:45) It makes sense to scale up cardio, then bring it back down, but how does that work for strength training? (31:50) Vinnie's workouts follow a periodization plan, which allows for proper recovery between workouts. What should people be doing on their "rest" days? (37:00) Doing aerobics, like a good walk, is "active rest." Mobility exercises are an option as well. Pilates is good for strength, but it also works the body differently, so adjusting Pilates workouts may be necessary to accommodate weight-training workouts. Meaning, you don't want to focus on the same muscle groups two days in a row. (38:00) Vinnie advises what to do on your "off" days to get the most bang for your buck. (43:00) You can usually find used equipment on places like Facebook Marketplace. Interval training is also a good addition. (47:00) He explains what a "four by four" is, which is a form of HIIT (high-intensity interval training). Your emotions are a roadmap, showing where God wants to meet you and help you grow. Jennifer shares key steps to cultivate emotional health, including: Exploring self-awareness and understanding your emotional patterns Recognizing when you feel responsible for others' emotions Navigating difficult conversations instead of avoiding them Holding your ground and leaning in during challenging moments We also unpack how longing reveals what truly matters to your heart—safety, connection, love, and belonging. When these needs aren't met, they can show up as control, numbing, or reactive behavior. Scripture reflection: Ephesians 4:13-14 – growing in maturity, unity, and truth. Grab your water (take a big sip right now), lace up your shoes, and be present to what it feels like to quench your thirst. This is your call to move your body and have fun today! Truth be told, you're thirsty! We're a chronically dehydrated people… both physically and spiritually. Today, let's move our hearts closer to the Living Water—Jesus. Key Scripture John 7:37-38 (NIV) As you start to feel better and get your body moving, offer your body as an act of worship. Exercise uses the whole body—that's why it's so beneficial for us as whole people created in God's image. God provides… for every step you take. He's the source of true endurance—not just for the miles, but for the marathon of life. The Biology of Thirst: A Mirror to Our Soul's Need—Did you know your body is about 60% water, and your brain is roughly 75% water? Water is essential for every cell, every thought, every heartbeat. That physical desperation when we're dehydrated? It reflects something deeper. Breaking Down Water in Scripture—and Our Dependence on Christ Just like our bodies cry out for physical water to survive and thrive, our souls thirst for the Living Water. When our soul is thirsty, we become desperate people—chasing temporary fixes, distractions, or empty wells that never satisfy. But Jesus invites the thirsty to come to Him. He doesn't just quench; He becomes a spring welling up to eternal life, overflowing to others.  Reflection Questions to Ponder (or Journal During/After Your Movement) How has God been faithful to you lately, even in small ways? What wilderness season have you survived… or are you walking through right now? How is He sustaining you there—like living water in the desert? What are you thirsting for? What water from the rock does Jesus need to bring? So hydrate up (literally and spiritually), move with joy, and let this workout be worship! Loved this episode? Artist Sebastián Espejo talks about observational shifts between scene and surface, how multiple temporalities accumulate in his paintings, receptiveness versus modulation in his process, and more.Sebastián Espejo (b. 1990) is a Chilean artist based in London whose practice centres on painting as a form of attention. His work explores the language of painting through close observation of the natural world, living organisms, and the perception of light. Espejo has exhibited internationally across the UK, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. He was twice a finalist for Jackson's Art Prize and was shortlisted for the John Moores Painting Prize in 2025.In 2025, he undertook a residency at Drumlanrig Castle and was subsequently selected for the Fugger Kunsthof residency in Augsburg for 2026. He is currently preparing two solo exhibitions: one at Union Pacific, London, and another at Sun Gallery, Seoul. In January 2026, he received the Brave Project Award and will be featured in Chapter 5, alongside a solo exhibition at Interval Gallery, London, presented in dialogue with works by Pierre Bonnard.Espejo understands painting as a surface of encounter. His works often place direct references to historical artworks alongside everyday objects or observed scenes, creating a dialogue between lived experience and inherited visual languages. These dualities operate both in his approach to observation and in the process of translation onto the painted surface. Alongside his studio practice, Espejo has developed and led workshops focused on painting, attention and embodied ways of seeing, extending his artistic enquiry into shared, pedagogical contexts.Sebastián's Instagram: @sebaespejovReference links:Adolfo Couve, Melliza (1964)Adolfo Couve: Una lección de pintura by Claudia Campaña (2015)—see cover for painting referencedRon Padgett, Pink Dust (2025)Jim Jarmusch, Paterson (2016)Episode cover art: "Dog Star", Oil, wax, marble dust and pencil on birch wood panel, 50x40cm, 2025. Every January starts with big fitness intentions, and it usually ends the same way, routines quietly fall apart once motivation wears off. The real issue is well known: building habits around feelings and calendar dates instead of non-negotiable standards. In this Fitness Friday episode, we break down the New Year fitness cycle with Liron Kayvan and talk about how to approach it in a way that actually sticks. We get into why walking is the most underrated habit in fitness, how non-negotiables put discipline on autopilot, and what truly separates people who stay consistent from those who fall off every January. Liron Kayvan founded BFLA in 2019. He's a NASM Certified Group Fitness Instructor, Personal Trainer, and Transformative Life Coach. Liron has competed in Amateur MMA, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Rugby and has been a Fitness Coach for over 10 years. What We Discuss: (00:00) Why New Year goals fall apart by mid-January (02:48) The New Year reset cycle and why starting dates don't create consistency (05:52) How too much daily decision-making sabotages long-term habits (09:18) What it actually means to build non-negotiables (14:46) Interval walking explained and why it's trending for 2026 (20:02) Recovery as a top fitness trend and what's driving the surge (24:37) Cold plunges, saunas, and why sleep is the most underappreciated recovery tool (30:51) Training early and why prioritization matters more than motivation Thank you to our sponsors: Prolon: Get 30% off sitewide plus a $40 bonus gift when you subscribe to their 5-Day Program! Does Uterine Incision-to-Delivery Interval Matter?

It's a controversial topic: the impact of uterine incision (hysterectomy) on the neonate delivery interval (also called the U-D interval). Does it matter? Just to be clear, we're talking about time from uterine entry to fetal extraction, not skin incision to fetal extraction. Past publications have produced conflicting results, often limited by small sample sizes, heterogeneous indications for delivery, and reliance on surrogate markers (like apgar scores) rather than clinical morbidity. But a new study published in the Gray journal at the end of 2025 (December 30, 2025) gives some new insights. In this episode, we will review this retrospective study and play the “Devil's advocate” as we summarize the rebuttal data. As the reports are conflicting, we will end the podcast with a real-world interpretation and application of this data. Listen in for details. 1. Bart, Yossi et al. These will cover many of the titles up for awards consideration -- and hopefully many more titles that perhaps didn't make the nominations list but were still relevant (either in public discourse, or, more significantly, personal favorites). We'll be releasing the Round-Up Eps for English Language Features first, since most of the titles we have discussed are now readily available for listeners to watch online. This first (of three) English-Language Features Round-Up is mainly focused on covering films either directed by women -- or, at least, on films entirely centered around them. This includes fairly in-depth discussions on Lynne Ramsay's "Die My Love," Mary Bronstein's "If I Had Legs, I'd Kick You," Nia DaCosta's "Hedda," Yorgos Lanthimos' "Bugonia," Mona Fastvold's "The Testament of Ann Lee," and (briefly) John M Chu's "Wicked (Not) For Good."The last film listed here also prompts our token Queer representative, Cris, to do a quickfire Queer Film Round-Up for 2025, which most extensively covers Ira Sachs's "Peter Hujar's Day."Listen to the full episode to hear more about our apprehension in talking about "women-oriented films," Cris and Ashwin's problems with John M. Chu's direction of the "Wicked" films, THAT "Bugonia" ending & much, much more!TIME CODESQID Ep. Kimberly Flynn, President at XA Investments, discussed the just-launched XAI Interval Fund Credit Index, which tracks the performance of non-listed closed-end interval funds and tender offer funds in the alternative-credit space, and how having the benchmark should help investors as they look at adding private credit and other alternatives to their portfolios. Flynn says the new index — which is not currently investable, so it is not the basis for a fund — is a sister to a broad interval fund index the firm introduced last year, both reflecting the growth in interval funds and in advisers' interest in adding them to consumer portfolios.

Many thanks to SRAA contributor Paul Walker, who shares the following field recordings of the BBC World Service on 9410 kHz made on September 19, 20, and 25, 2025 at 0458 UTC in McGrath, Alaska. Paul notes:The English feed via Ascension to West Africa operates from 05:00 to 07:00 UTC on several days in late September, featuring something rare: the carrier is switched on, followed by a brief silence and then an interval signal. This sequence occurs every time I hear this transmission sign on, but I have noticed it almost nowhere else on BBC World Service shortwave, which usually just “crash starts” and ends abruptly.
