In the Dirtbags of Holding, 5 friends show off the real way to play Roleplaying Games - playing them in the worst possible way. Between stabbing each other in the back, going off on tangents and driving the GM crazy, what antics will they get into this we
The Dirtbags are putting the Avernus game on the shelf for awhile, so until they have a chance to record again, enjoy this session of the Blades in the Dark rpg that was recorded late in 2019.
The Dirtbags crew has hit a stopping point on Avernus, as they haven't had as many recording sessions since the Pandemic happened. In the meantime, enjoy this batch of Outtakes from the first couple of sessions of their D&D 5th Edition campaign “Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus”.
Why would you hit someone in the wrist? That's so inconsiderate. Find out as the crew continues the D&D 5th Edition campaign “Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus”.
The group has descended into…..a sewer beneath the bathhouse! No, really. I guess that might be hell for someone? Anyway, let's see if our group finds any other information about the Cult of the Dead Three as we continue the D&D 5th Edition campaign “Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus”.
The group gets pretty philosophical about the definition of a cult…while they try and investigate a bathhouse rumored to be the hideout of the Cult of the Dead Three as we continue the D&D 5th Edition campaign “Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus”.
Ehhhh I'm pretty sure I can. Let's see if the group managed to get through their first fight without major casualties as we continue the D&D 5th Edition campaign “Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus”.
It's time for our little level 1 halflings to show their talents in combat! Will everyone come out of this first encounter alive? Only one way to find out!
We love getting feedback, and so this next campaign was actually a suggestion from one of our listeners, Beetle! He suggested we take the new D&D 5th edition adventure “Baldur's Gate: Descent into Avernus”, and play it as a party of only halflings! Now he gets to see what a poor decision he has made! In this episode, we meet most of the party as they answer a summons to see a local Captain in Baldur's Gate.
It's the last part of our DC Comics Adventures game! The last bit was a little short, so I threw in the few outtakes we had at the very end for you to enjoy. Come back next time as we start our newest D&D 5th edition campaign: Descent into Avernus!
We continue our DC Adventures RPG from Green Ronin. Our players are “famous” heroes from the DC Comics universe who have been gathered at Arkham Asylum to investigate some weird stuff going on. Last time, there was a meteor crash that had the team wake up to find that the asylum had been….altered. Wear headphones if you can! We experimented with using the Syrinscape software to add some thematic background noise to help with the ambiance. Let me know if it came through alright!
It's our first episode of 2020! And its our 150th episode! And its the first episode of a new game! Here are the outtakes from our Tabula Rasa game! Come back next week as we play DC Comics superheroes!
It's the conclusion to our Tabula Rasa game! Previously: Our “heroes” woke up in a lab with no memory and with superpowers. At some point, we jumped back on the rails and raced off to help Philip deal with the thugs that captured him. We continue our Tabula Rasa game using the Genesys RPG system from Fantasy Flight Games.

If you've been playing RPGs long enough, you'll start to notice a few tropes that appear in the form of characters. The overly sexy lady, the local barkeep, the village lawman. In this episode, we talk about how you can take these tropes and add memorable twists onto them!
Sponsored by Easy Roller Dice! Where do our heroes end up waking up at? (Hint its in the title).
Sponsored by Easy Roller Dice! Our heroes start to piece together the mystery behind the bombing - and I throw in a few outtakes to pad out the episode since it wraps up quickly.
Sponsored by Easy Roller Dice! Things got weird last time - can our heroes pull it together and take out these foes?
Sponsored by Easy Roller Dice! We've got a couple of new RPG announcements, talk about Gen Con events, and then discuss what a Session Zero is for a RPG and why you should have one
Sponsored by Easy Roller Dice! Our crew journeys into the chaotic Precinct 4 to get more answers for their investigation.
Sponsored by Easy Roller Dice! The adventure begins! Our players are back in D&D 5th Edition, but this time in a new setting: the plane of Ravnica from Magic: The Gathering! The crew stumbled upon a disaster that happens to some unsuspecting villagers.
Sponsored by Easy Roller Dice! In order to give Cory time to plan the next game, we threw in another topic episode! We quickly discuss some RPGs that we could potentially run in the car.
Sponsored by Easy Roller Dice! It's time to start a new campaign! Going back to D&D 5th Edition, but this time in a new setting: the plane of Ravnica from Magic: The Gathering! We talk about what characters everyone would like to play in this episode.
Sponsored by Easy Roller Dice! So you've decided you want to try GM'ing a game - but where do you begin? We go around the table giving suggestions for games and techniques to try if you are a beginner.
Sponsored by Easy Roller Dice! We're putting Blades in the Dark back on the shelf for a bit, so its time for some outtakes! Warning, remember this is all the stuff that WASN'T fit to air in our weirdo show.
Sponsored by Easy Roller Dice! The crew went nuts, but can they compose themselves enough to make out with some loot?
Sponsored by Easy Roller Dice! It's our first topic episode! (Ignore the fact that I said 125 in the intro). We give an update on what games we are interested in, talk about how you could get players to role play characters more, and then finish with some character backstory exercises.
Sponsored by Easy Roller Dice! There's a fundraiser going on, both for a theater and for the gang's wallet! Or at least that's what the crew is hoping for this time!
Sponsored by Easy Roller Dice! The gang feels the pressure as they reel from their last caper. Also who's this new guy?
Sponsored by Easy Roller Dice! Now what? It's business time for the crew as they look to get out alive with some loot in our Blades in the Dark game.
Sponsored by Easy Roller Dice! The gang gets into some trouble (its about time!), as we continue playing our Blades in the Dark game.
Sponsored by Easy Roller Dice! Now that character creation is done, its time to misbehave! Our “heroes” find themselves neighbors to a doomsday cult, and are not too happy about that, as we continue our Blades in the Dark game.
Sponsored by Easy Roller Dice! So Cthulhu chewed us up and spit us out, so we had to switch gears to a new game: Blades in the Dark from John Harper and Evil Hat Publishing! In this game, we will be making scoundrels that will be running amok in a steampunk victorian horror town.
Sponsored by Easy Roller Dice! Back to our character creation! Where we make fools of ourselves as we try and understand how to be the bad guys.
Sponsored by Easy Roller Dice! Its been awhilllllle…..since I could….type these show notes? Ok I'm gonna stop there. Remember Gen Con? We did! Just took us awhile to get to talking about it.
