Is your weight loss journey secretly setting you up for even greater weight gain down the road?Amy Hudson and Dr. James Fisher discuss the hidden muscle loss risk that comes with GLP-1 use and why the number on the scale tells you almost nothing about the quality of your progress. They unpack how strength training is the critical missing piece in most weight loss journeys, why protein becomes more important when you cut calories, and what genuine health success actually looks like when the real goal isn't weight loss.Dr. Fisher explains what most people fundamentally get wrong about GLP-1 use. The goal isn't weight loss itself, but the health that weight loss is supposed to deliver. When you press past the surface answer, most people admit they want a better quality of life, not just a lower number on the scale.Dr. Fisher breaks down how GLP-1s work at a biological level, describing them as medications that mimic a natural hormone originally developed to treat diabetes. They stimulate insulin release, reduce glucagon, slow gastric emptying, and create a feeling of fullness that drives reduced calorie intake.Dr. Fisher explains why GLP-1s can be a genuinely valuable entry point for people who are overweight or obese. The psychological and physical barriers to exercise, low confidence, pain, and fear of gym environments, make medication a realistic first step that behavioral advice alone cannot replace.Learn why the number on the scale is one of the most misleading metrics you can track during a weight loss journey. It cannot distinguish between fat loss, which is beneficial, and muscle loss, which is metabolically and functionally devastating.Dr. Fisher reveals that between 20 and 40 percent of the weight lost through GLP-1 use is lean tissue, typically thought of as muscle mass. Losing that much muscle while trying to get healthier is directly counterproductive to the actual goal.Dr. Fisher explains why losing muscle during a weight loss journey sets the body up to regain fat more easily afterward. Muscle is the body's primary storage site for carbohydrates, and shrinking that storage capacity increases the likelihood of fat accumulation once the journey ends.Learn how the "fat but fit" paradigm reframes what health actually looks like. Research suggests that increased strength is associated with lower mortality risk regardless of body composition, meaning being strong matters more for longevity than being lean.Dr. Fisher paints a picture of what weight loss without muscle retention actually looks like in practice. He points to frail older adults who are dependent on others, use walkers, and have severely diminished functional capacity as the endpoint of losing weight without preserving strength.Dr. Fisher explains why strength training is the critical signal the body needs to retain muscle during a GLP-1 journey. Mechanical loading through resistance training stimulates muscle protein synthesis and tells the body to hold onto lean tissue even when overall energy intake is reduced.Learn why the type of muscle fiber you target in strength training matters enormously during a weight loss journey. Type 2 muscle fibers are the most responsive to growth, the most metabolically valuable, and the most important to recruit and retain as the body ages.Amy highlights a counterintuitive truth that many people on weight loss journeys are uncomfortable confronting. Neglecting muscle while losing weight is essentially signaling to the body to store fat more aggressively the moment the intervention stops.Dr. Fisher explains why body composition measurement is a non-negotiable part of any GLP-1 journey done right. Tools like InBody assessments go beyond scale weight and give a real picture of whether you are losing fat or losing muscle, which determines whether the weight loss is actually high quality.Learn why supervised workouts produce meaningfully better outcomes than unsupervised ones, especially for people on a GLP-1 journey. Having a personal trainer present creates accountability, improves technique, and opens space for the kind of conversations that keep people from feeling isolated on what can be a very personal health journey.Dr. Fisher explains why protein intake becomes more important, not less, when someone is in a calorie deficit. Most people reduce protein alongside fats and carbohydrates when cutting calories, but the right approach is to protect protein intake and reduce the other macronutrients instead.Learn how GLP-1 medications change what people eat without necessarily improving what they eat. Reduced satiety often leads to smaller portions, but the nutritional quality of those portions, including protein content, frequently remains poor without deliberate attention.Amy explains why tracking muscle mass throughout a GLP-1 journey is just as important as tracking weight loss progress. Without that data, there is no way to know whether the body is shedding fat or cannibalizing the very tissue that supports long-term metabolic health.Dr. Fisher explains why around two-thirds of weight lost through medication or behavioral programs tends to be regained within a year. Weight loss that is not anchored in behavioral change and muscle preservation is structurally set up to reverse itself.Learn how The Exercise Coach's approach addresses the specific risks of GLP-1 use through four reinforcing pillars: body composition measurement, optimized strength training methodology, real-time performance feedback through equipment, and in-person coaching throughout the process.Amy explains why personal training is the missing piece most people overlook on a GLP-1 journey, and how having a coach in your corner can make the difference between losing fat and losing the muscle you can't afford to give up.Mentioned in This Episode:The Exercise Coach - Get 2 Free Sessions!Submit your questions at StrengthChangesEverything.comThis podcast and blog are provided to you for entertainment and informational purposes only. Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski | True Crime News & Commentary
Ted Bundy spent ten years on death row making absolutely sure of one thing: that the country would never get the why.The Chi Omega trial in Miami, summer 1979 — the first criminal trial broadcast nationally on American television — was his stage. He fired his attorneys. He rehired them. He fired them again. He cross-examined witnesses, including Nita Neary, the woman who had seen him on the stairs. The bite mark evidence cut through all of it. Guilty. Sentenced to death.Judge Edward Cowart called him a bright young man and a tragedy, on the record, in front of the cameras. In Orlando in January 1980, during his trial for Kimberly Leach, he proposed to Carole Ann Boone on the witness stand with a notary in the room. Convicted. Third death sentence.Death row. Florida State Prison. Nine years. Two journalists, Stephen Michaud and Hugh Aynesworth, recorded him for hundreds of hours. He would only profile the killer in the third person. FBI Agent Bill Hagmaier visited for three years and became something close to a confidant. In his final week, Bundy summoned detectives from four states and handed them women's names like currency. Healy. Manson. Rancourt. Campbell. Cunningham. Culver. Kent. When Hagmaier asked if thirty-six was closer to the real number, Bundy said: add one more digit and you have it.On January 24, 1989, he was pronounced dead at 7:16. A field of several hundred people cheered the hearse. He gave the country a count he probably understated, an explanation he chose for the listener, and a confession he could keep at arm's length. What he never gave was the why. This is the fifth and final conversation in Ted Bundy: History's Hidden Killers. The women's names come last, because the last word is theirs.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/ Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? This passage is a very clear challenge to "be diligent to make certain about His calling and choosing you." What that actually means is simply to be sure you are saved. Now the question would have to be for the unsure professing person, how can I be sure of my salvation? And the answer I like to give is in 3 parts with one being the most obvious one to check. That one is the fact that regeneration or the moment you are saved you are a new creation( 2 Corinthians 5:17) Here is the simple truth about that passage, when you are saved God gives you a new heart and puts His Spirt in you.( Ezekiel 36: 26 & 27) I truly believe that you actually do change and you know it. Now you can love God and you are able to seek Him , whereas, you were not able before you were saved.

What happens when the business you built to create freedom starts feeling more like a trap? In this episode of ScaleUp Radio, Kevin Brent speaks with Simon Bird, founder of SEON, about one of the most common but least discussed challenges facing growing SME owners: the "Owner's Trap". Simon shares practical frameworks and diagnostic approaches designed to help founders step back, regain clarity, and reconnect with the purpose and direction of their business. Drawing on more than 25 years in global marketing leadership and seven years advising business owners through SEON, Simon explains why many leaders become overwhelmed as their businesses grow, and how structured thinking, visual frameworks, and better conversations can unlock progress. This conversation is packed with practical guidance for founders who feel busy, stretched, and stuck in operational complexity. In this episode: Why successful founders often become disconnected from the part of the business they originally loved The warning signs that operational pressure is beginning to affect performance and motivation Why trying to "solve" problems too quickly often creates more confusion How a "thinking partner" can help founders gain clarity and make better decisions The power of visual frameworks and metaphor to expose hidden business issues Why alignment problems inside leadership teams are often invisible until surfaced properly The importance of stepping back before jumping into strategy or restructuring How productising advisory services creates clearer value for clients Practical lessons Simon learned from building SEON from scratch Why consistent business development habits still matter, even for experienced advisers A standout insight from the episode One of the most powerful moments in the discussion is Simon's example of a husband-and-wife leadership team drawing their business as a car. One leader saw a polished, high-performing vehicle. The other saw it sitting in the garage with three wheels missing. That single exercise exposed a major operational disconnect that traditional meetings and reports had failed to uncover. It is a reminder that many business problems are not purely strategic or financial. Often, leaders are operating from completely different realities. The one key thing If your business feels harder to run than it should, resist the temptation to immediately fix symptoms. Pause first, diagnose properly, and create the space for honest thinking before choosing solutions. In this episode of the Tactical Living Podcast, hosts Coach Ashlie Walton and Sergeant Clint Walton talk about a reality that does not get discussed honestly enough in first responder culture: marriages in law enforcement, fire, and EMS (Amazon Affiliate) fail at significantly higher rates than the general population — and it is not because first responders love their spouses any less. It is because the job creates conditions that quietly erode connection, communication, and emotional availability over time — and most couples do not recognize what is happening until the damage runs deep. This episode takes an honest and direct look at why first responder marriages are so vulnerable, what the most common breaking points are, and what couples can do to protect what they built before the job takes more than it already has.

Can you check the schedule? I just want to confirm our reservation. Make sure you bring your passport.Check, confirm, and make sure. These words seem pretty similar, right? They all involve checking information somehow. But sometimes it's easy to mix them up. Can you say, “Please confirm the weather?” Or, “I checked that my friend came to the party”? Or maybe, “Make sure the reservation”? Hmm… something sounds a little strange there. So today, we're going to look at how you can actually use check, confirm, and make sure in everyday English. The Happy English PodcastHelping people speak English better since 2014Over 1,000 episodes • 8 million downloads

Where are the small cracks in your organization that are deviating you from your mission, even if it seems inconsequential now? In this episode, Jeff and Peter discuss: Closing the gap between what we know and how we live. Leadership warnings from King David and King Solomon. Training up the next generation of leaders. Actively fighting against mission drift. Key Takeaways: What you do today might not seem consequential, but the habits that we establish, the way that we live today, the cumulative impact of those small decisions, do impact where we end up. The earlier you catch that you're off track, the easier it is to get back on track. The best leaders realize they're part of a bigger story. They actively and intentionally seek out and celebrate the success of others. Generosity is good for our hearts. It is a way of recentering ourselves in what God is doing in the world, not just with what we want. Wisconsin farmers are definitely making up for lost time! The latest planting progress report showed 31% of the corn was in the ground as of Sunday, 5/10. Cooper Humphries, district sales manager with Wyffels Hybrids says that growers don't want to make mistakes in a rush to catch up. Humphries specifically notes sidewall compaction and press wheel pressure when it comes to planter settings. Making sure those fine points are adjusted can make a big difference in emergence and overall root health for that plant. This week's episode is a follow-up to my recent conversation with Kelly Chase in episode 213.We talked about something I don't think enough people are discussing: what happens when your business gets more visibility than it's actually built to handle. The truth? More visibility doesn't automatically grow your business like we think it does. Sometimes it actually breaks it.In this episode, I'm breaking down the three pieces you need in place before chasing more visibility—because if these aren't solid, more eyes on your work won't grow your business. It'll just amplify the gaps. Here's what I discussed:1. Why more visibility won't fix unclear messaging2. The difference between getting attention and holding attention 3. Visibility for the sake of being seen vs. visibility that builds authority 4. What happens after someone finds you? 5. The infrastructure piece most people skip And so much more…Resources & Sponsorship:She's a Big Deal: Sophia's program for building authority, deepening your network, and creating a rinse-and-repeat system that doesn't rely on constant content creation. You've bought the licenses. You've made the announcement. And a few months later, you're staring at a workforce either ignoring the tools entirely or churning out AI-generated fluff that nobody's reading. The ROI? Nowhere to be found. The problem isn't AI. It's how organisations are rolling it out. In this How I AI episode, Neo and I share a recording from a live webinar we ran on why AI rollouts fail and what it actually takes to set yours up for success. We cover the most common mistakes we're seeing on the ground, the research that should change how you think about training, and the question every leadership team needs to answer before spending another dollar on licenses. Neo and I cover: Why an unclear AI strategy at the leadership level creates confusion across teams, with some departments using the tools freely and others too uncertain to try. The leadership credibility problem: when CEOs and senior leaders don't use AI themselves, the rest of the organisation takes it as a signal that they shouldn't either. Why buying licenses without training can actually reduce productivity, producing a flood of low-quality, AI-generated work that slows people down rather than speeding them up. The surprising finding from HBR research that the average time saving from AI is just 2.5%, and why vanity metrics like daily logins and token usage tell you almost nothing about real value. The agent proliferation trap: why having everyone in your organisation building agents independently leads to duplicated, inconsistent, and unowned tools that create more confusion than clarity. The cultural barrier of AI fear, and why people won't genuinely adopt a tool they believe is there to replace them. AI brain fry, a distinct form of cognitive fatigue caused by constant context-switching and vigilance when managing multiple AI tasks simultaneously. Why training to tasks rather than features is what actually shifts behaviour, and the research-backed minimum dose of five hours of hands-on training required to see any meaningful benefit. The case for training close to license rollout to prevent bad habits forming before people know how to use the tools well. A three-stage framework for AI adoption: access, literacy, and leverage (individual then organisational), with literacy positioned as an ongoing capability rather than a one-off event. Why planning where time savings will actually go matters as much as achieving them, otherwise people simply fill the space with more work.
