All games, because Chewie is convinced that they're all just different styles of resource management dressed up in genre pants. This is the second Supply Lines episode, after starting with Magic: The Gathering (for obvious reasons) in episode 723. For this one we decided to go to one of the most hardcore examples of resource management in games, Dungeons & Dragons! Chewie has been playing Baldur's Gate 3 and the other dorks actually play D&D, so they've all got stuff to say. This episode focuses on all the resources you have to manage for character creation, which is surprisingly a lot to the point it can be absolutely overwhelming to new players. Die Hitlerjugend (HJ) war die Jugendorganisation der NSDAP und wurde im Jahr 1926 gegründet. Nach der Machtübernahme der Nationalsozialisten im Jahr 1933 entwickelte sie sich zur einzigen staatlich anerkannten Jugendorganisation im Deutschen Reich. Sämtliche anderen Jugendverbände wurden entweder verboten oder in die HJ eingegliedert. Ziel der Organisation war es, Kinder und Jugendliche im Sinne der nationalsozialistischen Ideologie zu formen. Dazu gehörten unbedingter Gehorsam gegenüber dem „Führer“, Begeisterung für Militarismus, die Verinnerlichung der nationalsozialistischen Rassenlehre sowie die Vorbereitung auf den späteren Dienst als Soldaten im NS-Staat. Eine zentrale Rolle beim Aufbau und der Ausweitung der Hitlerjugend spielte Baldur von Schirach, der seit 1931 als Reichsjugendführer der NSDAP fungierte und damit die oberste Leitung der HJ innehatte. Nach 1933 formte er die Organisation zu einer Massenbewegung, die Millionen Jugendlicher erfasste, und sorgte dafür, dass die HJ zum allein zulässigen Jugendverband im Deutschen Reich wurde. Unter seiner Führung entwickelte sich die Hitlerjugend zu einem der wichtigsten Instrumente zur frühzeitigen Indoktrination und zur Verankerung der nationalsozialistischen Weltanschauung in der jungen Generation. Dies soll in dieser Folge thematisiert werden.

Als Bühne dienen Schauplätze aus dem Pen'n'Paper-Klassiker Dungeons & Dragons, in der Regie von Entwicklerstudio Black Isle Studios sitzen größen wie Chris Avellone (Fallout, Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights), Guido Henkel (Drachen von Laas) und Komponist Mark Morgen (Fallout, Wasteland, Stasis). However, back in Episode 5 is when we do this first mention and where our mission on the podcast was to bring awareness to board games beyond those found at big box stores. That was on February 12, 2013. Time marches on and we find ourselves with a new entry using the Pandemic system with the LOTR: Fate of the Fellowship. Mr. Leacock has done an incredible job with this one. In my opinion, this brings the base goodness of the Pandemic series to the LOTR world and then ramps it up a few notches. To be honest, it might be a little too hard at times. But who cares, play it again and think of the feeling you will have when you destroy the ring. We also have some slight dissension in the ranks at RDTN where one does like a game as much as someone else and we have a solid discussion on why. This doesn't mean that the game isn't good, just that there is a difference of opinion on what some people like versus what others like. The Wondrous Museum is an engine builder that plays very fast and has solid decision making for which cards to play and how to use the runes that activate the cards. Leaders if a two person duel game that shrinks down the board to where players are using special moves by their champions to allow them to capture the other person leaders. Your champions are never removed from the board, so it is all about positioning while maintaining a solid defense for your leader.
