Race and racism is a sensitive but essential topic for all believers to come to the table to discuss. In today's episode, Monique Duson, co-founder of Center for Biblical Unity, joins me today to talk about racial reconciliation vs Biblical unity and what that means practically for Christians who are called to live in unity with one another regardless of skin color or ethnic background. How should we view and respond to race, racism, systemic racism, & reparations? What does the biblical model look like for all races to be reconciled? We talk about all of that and more including her new book she has co authored called “Walking in Unity” now out! In today's episode, Elizabeth Urbanowicz joins me to talk about the importance of parents discipling their kids through apologetic tools. Today, we live in a culture that inundates our children with lies and theologies founded on subjectivity, false claims and anti bible. More than ever, we need to disciple our kids in the truth of God's words by helping them understand how to study and interpret scripture, how to think critically and biblically when confronted with different worldviews and questions, and how to have evidence based faith rather than blind faith. What is biblical/spiritual discernment? How does one receive and develop it? In today's episode, we take a look at what it means to have real biblical discernment according to what the bible says about it. Believe it or not, it is not about having goosebumps or inklings in your spirit concerning something. It runs deeper than that. It is about knowing the truth in God's word in order to be able to know truth from error when we are presented with a claim or message. So join in as we delve into the necessity for every believer to have and use their discernment so that they are not swept away by false doctrines that masquerades as truth. Today, we get into the topic of Apologetics! What is apologetics, what is the evidence for Christianity, is the bible reliable, how do we know Jesus really resurrected? All of these questions and more is what apologetics seeks to answer. In a world where truth is deemed relative and subject, we are called more than ever before to heed the instructions of Jude 3 - to contend for the faith that is once and for all delivered to the saints; and 1 Peter 3:15 - to be ready to give a defense to everyone who ask you to give a reason for the hope you have. We are to stand up for what is true since truth is objective. We talk about all of this and more in this episode. I hope you are encouraged by it! In todays episode of The Gospel Alone, I sit down with my sis Wanjiru all the way from Kenya to talk not only about the Hyper-Charismatic movement and the Word of Faith/prosperity Gospel and its effects on the church but also about how we as women are called to be theologians. God has given us his word to know him, to love him, and to protect us against false teachings. How are we to grow in our love for Christ and develop spiritual discernment if we are not studying God through his word? Wanjiru shares not only her experience with believing the harmful teachings of the prosperity gospel but she offers encouragement and practical tips on how we as ladies can know theology just as much as men do! Today, we have a chill conversation around the topic of the self love gospel/movement infiltrating our culture and the dangers behind it. Inside of the self love movement we see how the focus of everything always tends to point toward us and why this takes away from the true gospel. The phrase "I'm cutting everyone off that doesn't serve me" is one of the mantras of this movement. Is this saying biblical? Should we as believers pattern our lives around this perspective and ideology? This is what we talk about today and much more! Today we take a look at what deliverance ministries are and what they focus on and teach; one of those teachings being the possibility of Christians having demons. This leads us to answer the question, can Christians be possessed by demons (have demons living inside of them)? As always, we look to what God's words have to say regarding this topic. We discuss if Christians having demons is biblical and areas of concern that arises from this perspective. I pray you will be blessed through this to continue searching scripture more! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thegospelalone/message
Today Ex-Delta member Malissa Blair talks about Black Greek Letter Organizations (BGLOs), what really goes on inside of these fraternities and sororities, and are they compatible with the Christian life. Malissa shares her testimony of pledging, coming to Christ, and denouncing Delta Sigma Theta. We pray you listen to this with a humble and open heart regardless if you are a Christian thinking about pledging or a Christian already in these organizations. Today we're joined by Nicki Truesdell, the Author of ‘Anyone Can Homeschool'. We discuss how no matter what your background, education level, or qualifications are, anyone can still successfully homeschool their children. As Christians especially, we live in a society and culture today where the public school system is becoming increasingly dark, godless, and everything anti-God for our children. It is literally a war zone we are sending our children into. Nicki shares how this is having an effect on what our children are learning, ways to combat that through homeschooling with a biblical worldview and methods used that can set both child and parent up for success. She also explains why it does not take 12 years to educate a child. Listen as so many gems in this conversation are spilled. There's also a giveaway in this episode to show appreciation to all listeners who have been here since the beginning till now. This podcast is growing and it's because of you guys! Hey guys! We're back again in the last part of the series of soteriology. In this episode we go through 3 very popular scriptures that many bring up to imply that this is a description of a Christian losing their salvation. But do they really teach that one can lose their salvation? We go through the book of James, Philippians 2:12-13 & Hebrews 4:4-6. I pray this series was an encouragement for you all. I love you! Welcome again to part 2 of the Soteriology (doctrine of salvation) series! In this episode we answer the question of "Can a true Christian lose their salvation?" Like before, we go through MANY scriptures in order to make sure our answer is coming from the source itself (God's word). As always, this is a conversational podcast so feel free to reach out to me about any questions, concerns, or just your good old fashion opinion on anything spoken about in the episode. Soteriology is the study of the doctrine of Salvation. In this episode we are going to talk about how is one saved/justified before God according to scripture. Here we are! With the second part of the series "Scriptures Taken out of Context". In this second part, we dive into more scriptures that are infamously misused especially in the hypercharistmatic, word of faith, & the name it and claim it movements. Today we carefully examine passages on "touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm", "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" and looking into the heavy hitter Romans 4:17 that is so taken out of context, it's creating a whole other gospel within the church. So listen as 1 Chronicles 16:22, Philippians 4:13 and Romans 4:17 are contextually read and the true meaning brought out! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thegospelalone/message
Due to the potential overturn of Roe v Wade, an uproar in our nation over abortion laws have begun. This is our opportunity as believers, more than ever before, to use this situation to witness to those who are for abortion and center the conversation around the gospel. In this episode, we talk about what happens during an abortion, what the bible says about the killing of innocent lives, and how we as pro-lifers can engage in healthy and loving conversations where objections to pro-life arguments are raised by those on the pro-choice side. I go through 10 of the most common objections pro-choicers give for the support of abortion and show you how to think critically about each one in order to see the inconsistencies in each objection. Depression is a very real thing! It can exist in a Christian's and a non-Christian's life. Did you know that there are so many examples of people in the bible that went through depression and/or grief? I believe that this topic in the church is not talked about often due to many factors. In this episode I want to shed light on the realities of depression, what it may look like in a Christian's life and how we are to respond to it as believers. I also share my own personal stories of struggling with depression. My prayer is that this conversation will spark the desire for the body of Christ to become more open and honest about this issue. Did you know that the topic of women serving as Pastors/spiritual leaders in the church is one of the most hotly debated topics of our day today? It is! We all know that the role of a pastor is to teach others scripture and to have spiritual leadership over members of the church. So the question is are women called to take on that role? In this episode we take an honest look at scriptures that pertain to this topic (1 Timothy 2:11-14 , 1 Corinthians 14:34-35, and much more). I pray that this discussion challenges us and brings us greater joy in studying God's desire and design for his church! As always feel free to leave me a voice note or message if you want to have a deeper discussion on this topic! It is always welcomed! --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/thegospelalone/message
Have you ever asked "What is God's will for my life?" You probably have taken it a little further and asked "What is God's specific will for my life?". In this episode I share my thoughts on us wanting to know God's specific will versus God's general will. There is a difference! Do we spend so much of our time wanting to know the specifics that we neglect God's general will already given to us in His word? Listen as I answer this question! A new series is being introduced today in which we discuss popular bible verses that have been almost always taken out of it's context! There is no doubt that we've all probably done it before.
