The Preacher’s Corner is a daily Bible Study that engages our modern culture with the eternal and living concepts of God’s Word. Tune in for a new and unique perspective of the raw truth of Scripture with Pastor J.
Today we dive into Revelation chapter 7 and discover the introduction of the 144,000 (and a little background on them as revealed in Revelation 14). Also we are going to cover the background of those who arrive at the 5th seal in chapter 6 verses 9-11 known as the Martyred Saints. There is much to get into today with Pastor J so you don't want to miss it!!!
Today we discover the necessity of conviction as it comes from the Lord in Proverbs chapter 3 verses 9-12. Understanding that God loves us and wants us to have lives which honor Him and are a blessing to those around us. Receiving correction is never easy, but this is important for us for we know we would be led astray if it were not for His love and correction to our paths in this life. Then we venture to verses 13-18 and find that God's Word received is better than silver, but His Word understood is worth more than gold. To retain His Word is priceless and will be the guide necessary to see us through this life unto the next with great joy! Don't want to miss out on this one today with Pastor J!!!
Today we cover the 4 Horsemen of Revelation chapter 6 from verses 1-8. A glimpse into these Horsemen reveal the establishment of a kingdom with the 3 most important players, being: 1st, the White Horse Rider (recognized as the antichrist and political figure who shall rule the globe for 7 short years; 2nd, the Red Horse Rider (recognized as the principle military leader who serves at the right hand of the antichrist ensuring his “peace” by the edge of the Red Ridder's “Sword”); and 3rd, the Black Horse Rider (recognized as the chief economist of the antichrist establishing price for commodities and ways&means for the globe!). The 4th and final Horseman is quite familiar to us as he has been in business since sin has enter the world harvesting souls. He is Death, the agent of God's wrath!!! This shall be an exciting day in God's Word so let's dive in today with Pastor J!
Today on the Corner we dive into Revelation chapter 5 and the meeting of the Father seated upon the throne who holds the scroll (which I believe to be the book of Revelation) in His hand. We hear the proclamation of the “Mighty Angel” who calls for one who is worthy to take the scroll and the reality John faces to the point that there is none found worthy to take the scroll till the Lamb is revealed!!! This and more today with Pastor J.
Today we receive a glimpse of the throne room of God in Revelation chapter 4! The glory of God's majesty; the twenty four elders casting their crowns; the songs of victory sung by those who have been delivered from this present evil world, that great cloud of witnesses; and so much more on this Revelation Friday with Pastor J! God bless
Today we finish our journey through the book of James with the powerful ending of prayer! Facing some thoughts concerning the distance between our reliance upon God and our reliance on man (our medical community; inventions/innovations; etc…). We also find a call to righteousness being given us to become more faithful in our belief of God and His might works. This is an interesting portion of Scripture that I encourage you to get into today with Pastor J. God bless!!!
This Wisdom Wednesday we dive into Proverbs 3:1-12, and specifically cover verses 5 to 8 (which are some of the most widely known, and used, Scriptures today). May God bless you richly as you join us for this study today with Pastor J!
Today in James 5:7-12 we receive the call to patients in our lives. To be a people trusting in the Lord for those things we need and being faithful to our work given to us by Him in His kingdom. To face the challenges of trusting Him, not grumbling about each other, and being as steadfast as the prophets (Job being the prime example). Such a difficult blessing today, but a blessing nonetheless, so hang on tight as we dive right in today with Pastor J!!!
A beautiful way to start the week with James chapter 5 and the distinction made between those who are wealthy from those who are "rich". There are many around us who have been blessed of the Lord as being wealthy, but that use the blessings God has given to them for the purpose of being a blessing to their communities, their churches, and to the work of the Lord! The flip side to this coin are those who see their wealth as a means of power and consume their wealth in all the "riches" their hearts desire! These are the folks James is going after in this first section today, and if it sounds like He's dealing with you personally, then accept that God knows your heart and repent so that God may be able to forgive you and heal your heart! This and so much more today with Pastor J!
Welcome to Revelation Friday and the Church at Laodicea! There is much to discuss about the nature of this church that we find within our society and our churches today (as concerning the attitude). The most important comment of Jesus to this church, as well as to us today is, "Be zealous and repent!" May God bless you richly this day in the gift of His Word and I pray we take this to heart that we may be changed.
This is one of my all time favorite questions in Scripture! When you take a moment to consider the sum of your life to this point, and as you would also take a moment to look at your hands (James makes a direct connection between the nature of our hearts and the activity of our hands in chapter 4) can you see the necessity of washing your hands as verse 8 tells us to do? Oh, how marvelous this truth is, and convicting! Being as we have a very little time left between our start date (the time we came into the world) and our end date (the point in which we shall check out) let us consider our lives and efforts in the light of verse 17! This, and so much more today with Pastor J so tune in and we'll see you at the Corner, Amen!!!
On this "Wisdom Wednesday" we dig into Proverbs chapter two and discover the purpose and blessing of having a heart which is intent on studying God's Word and applying His truth to our hearts daily so we can live out His commandments in our daily lives! May God bless you richly from the receiving of this teaching and the Holy Spirit bless in the ability to receive from God His manna today!
As we continue our journey through James 4 today we dig into some translation variation issues concerning verse number 5 and the issues between envy and jealousy. From there we discover the necessity of humbling ourselves before our King and submitting to His great authority so the devil will flee from us! This and much, much more today with Pastor J so you definitely will want to tune in!
Where do wars and fightings come from? A great question explained by the differences between the wisdom which comes from above and is given to us from God, and that wisdom which is demonic and driven by selfish ambition and lust within man! There is much to be received today out of the book of James, so tune in today with Pastor J and let's dig in!!!
As we continue through the churches of Revelation in chapter 3 we come to Philadelphia in verses 7-13. Like the church at Smyrna, Philadelphia does not have any complaints raised against them from Jesus, only encouragement to remain faithful to their service of the Lord! The best comment from Jesus to this church is the reality of the door; When He opens a door no one can shut it, and when He closes a door no man can open it! Next we find the description of the false believers revealed as claiming to be the children of God yet being known by Him to be children of the evil one!!! This and so much more today with Pastor J, so come on over to the Corner and dig in!!!
Such a powerful reality we are getting into today with James 3:1-12 dealing with the tongue and its connection to our heart! Though the tongue is one of the smallest parts of our body, as a muscle it is capable of lifting some heavy weight as we consider the amount of trouble we can readily get into with it! The reason: The depth of the depravity of our heart is communicated to the world through our tongue, rather that be the little member in our mouths, or perhaps our hands serving in its place through sign language!! The reality we receive today is we must be very cautious and consider those things we think, as well as say, because we are children of God and the light we cast (or darkness thereof) directly reflects upon others as they consider His nature through our examples, both physical and verbal. Something to consider!
In today's teachings from Proverbs 1:20-33 we are faced with the difference of two positions and a choice which must be made. The first position is that of the fool, and much time is given to this position because God desires for the foolish to repent and give up their folly while there is still time to repent, for it is revealed in Scripture today that there will come a time when there will be no more time! The second position is that of the wise person as revealed in verse 33 as the one who "LISTENS" to God's Word. These are they who dwell in the position of security and are able to be at ease having no dread. This day's lesson brings you to a "CHOICE" as revealed in verse 29 as to if you shall fear the Lord or reject Him. As was said by Joshua, "Choose you this day whom you will serve!" May God bless you richly as you continue to grow in His Word!
Today in James 2:14-26 we cover the most important subject of faith and how it relates to works. To understand the definition of faith as defined in Scripture as conviction, to strongly believe, and assurance is to then understand the point of this word being a verb! This also is where the connection of works is involved in that this word is defined as activity, the action of doing or being. This is section of scripture is not dealing with salvation, or, being saved or lost. This is dealing with how believers interact with the Lord and how they serve within His Kingdom. May God bless you richly as you consider this teaching today!
Today in James 2:1-13 we discover the way we are to conduct ourselves as we gather together to praise our King within His house! Not in giving "respect" or honor one above another, but that we see us all come together before the Lord seeking His will and His way! In this we also discover the judgment of God that is without mercy for those who would show no mercy in this life, and yet mercy is the very point that triumphs judgment!!! Our take away today is to be the people of mercy; demonstrating the love of God through our daily lives so others can come to know Him in the truth of who He is! May this be a blessing to you today as you consider this teaching in Jesus' name, Amen!
Welcome to Revelation Friday. Today we shall cover the church of Sardis and deal with the issues faced in our modern society where a church may seem to be very alive and well functioning, but before the Lord the same church be seen as being dead. Rather because of having left its "First Love", or being filled with the doctrines of the Nicolaitans, Balam or Jezebel, this is a church that no longer serves God and has begun to feed their own lusts through the guise of religious works! You don't want to miss today so tune in and be blessed with Pastor J!!!
Today we focus on the implanted Word! God bless as you connect with what our Lord has for you to receive today.
"If sinners entice you, do not consent." If only this were taught today in light of Scriptural authority and truth! How different, I personally believe, our society would be if we would return to the morals given by Scripture; given by our Father. Today we look into Proverbs 1:8-19 and must give consideration to the warning Solomon gave to his son. Also, we need to understand the connection between the father and the mother of verse 8 and the blessing of both teaching, and instruction! On top of these things we shall see just how much the book of James ties into the book of Proverbs! This and much more today with Pastor J.
Today Ya'akov (James) brings us to a unique understanding of what is happening inside our hearts when we find ourselves falling away from God and into sin! We discover we cannot blame Satan for much of the temptations we face, for those temptations are born from within; deep into the corrupt nature we possess! Again we discover the depths of reality Ya'akov brings out about us through the Holy Spirit, and that is why all these "learned Scholars" want this book to disappear, but God will not allow it, praise His Holy Name, Amen!!! This and more today with Pastor J.
In the book of James today we are drawn back to the point we received last Thursday concerning the need to be steadfast in our faith. We shall discover what happens when we "waiver" and what the symptoms are so that we can literally correct the "ship!" May God bless you richly as you receive His Word today and we, at the Preacher's Corner, pray that you finish the rest of this day well in Jesus! God bless
In today's lesson through Revelation we discover the nature of Thyatira! First we shall consider the way Jesus introduces Himself to the church, then we shall see the reason why He makes such an introduction! Afterwards we will discuss the few great qualities Jesus recognizes within the church and we will hopefully realize that these letters to the churches are written for those who are the faithful in the church and not to the wicked (who wouldn't care if they were written to them. That's why they are the wicked!). This and much more today with Pastor J!!!
Allow me the privilege of introducing you to the half-brother of Jesus named Ya'akov. We know him in English as James and you have now discovered that in Hebrew his name is a derivitive of Jacob! One thing you learn straight off with James is he isn't wishy-washy and tells it just the way it is! I reckon this is why there are so many who are trying to get his worked removed from the Bible (those I'm referring to are some Bible "scholars" and professors). What we shall learn from James though is that when God opens a door man is powerless to close it, and when God closes a door man is powerless to open it! Today we dive into the first 8 verses of James and discover we are called to be steadfast in our faith without wavering, for it doesn't pay to be double minded in a world that desires to destroy the faith! This and much more today with Pastor J!
For the foreseeable future we shall be digging into the Proverbs on Wednesdays to see what beautiful bits of wisdom our LORD may have for us! This week we embark upon the most important point of the whole of Proverbs (and the whole of the Bible) which is, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge." I'd have to say this is why we live in such a ridiculous society today is because there are very few who truly fear the LORD, and I'm talking about those who are supposed to be God's children! Tune in to learn more and may God bless you richly, Amen!!!
Today we answer the question above, Who opens our minds to understand the Scripture? Also, we tie Scripture together from several places to gain a fuller understanding of the timeline that these last events took place. There is much which can be received today if you are willing to receive it! God bless
A lot can happen on the first day of the week! Today we are dealing with the 3 testimonies of those who experienced the empty tomb of Jesus, and of those who spoke with Him directly! We also will walk with Cleopas and his brother in Christ as they journey to Emmaus and look into the conversation they had with Jesus. This and much more today with Pastor J!!!
This Friday we focus on the church at Pergamos. Though this church had some really strong points within it, as many churches in our nation today do as well, there were to issues Jesus points out that were going to be detrimental to the body as a whole! Tune in to find out what the issues were and discover the means to correct them today with Pastor J!!!
The crucifixion of Jesus. The worst, and yet best moment in all of history! The necessity of His death in order for us to have hope of eternal life!! Nothing can truly compare. Today we shall finish off Luke 23 and dive into the moments of Jesus on the cross with Pastor J, so make sure to tune in!!!
Today in Luke 23:13-31 we find the chief priests, scribes and elders driving the verdict against Jesus! As He was found to not be guilty of any offenses worthy of death by Pilate himself, or by Herod, Pilate's desire was to "punish" Jesus in the Jewish manner, but to release Him! The powers that be at the moment wouldn't have that, and the plan of God wouldn't either, and so an actual criminal would be released in the place of the innocent! Barabbas (whose name in Hebrew means "son of the Father") who actually was a criminal worthy of death in the sight of Rome was to be released in favor of Jesus who had not done anything wrong! Just as in our society today, Pilate caved politically to the desires of the few!!! This and more today with Pastor J.
In today's lesson we discover how very "the same" the times and issues happening to Jesus are happening in our modern day! Truly there is nothing new under the sun as Solomon would say. This and more today with Pastor J!!!
Today we enter into the moc trial of Jesus by the chief priests and elders. Questioning His authority as Messiah and His relationship with God as the Son of God! Jesus knows their hearts though and understands that they must paint a nasty portrait of Him before the people in order to be able to kill Him! So, they begin the "entertainment" of His trial seeking to sway the crowd by emotion (rhetoric) to side with them in destroying Jesus, and they shall win for man is so easily knocked off course of the truth by being entertained! This and more today with Pastor J, so tune in!!!
Welcome to Revelation Friday and the beginning of Revelation chapter 2, diving into the revealed attitudes of the churches. Both chapters 2 and 3 are extremely important for us to receive for the attitudes which I'm referring to are those of the individual which collectively come together within the body of the church which will ultimately effect the whole body in its service to Jesus! This and much more today with Pastor J!!! Today we shall cover Ephesus and Smyrna!
After the Seder meal was complete, as was His custom, Jesus retired to the garden of Gethsemane to have communion with His Father in prayer and to be alone with His disciples (for the last time before His death!). This is when we get to see a side of Jesus which directly relates to us all. His distress and the anxiety of His heart was so great in this moment that His blood vessels were literally breaking under the stress as He seemed to sweat droplets of blood! The reality of what He is about to have to face met with the understanding of how it was going to feel drove Jesus to His knees before the Father asking for the cup to pass from Him! Yet He submitted to His Father's will; He surrendered to His Father desire and became obedient even to the giving of His own life, and aren't we thankful that He did! This and much more today with Pastor J!
How powerful it is to know Jesus is actively praying for us! As He did for Peter, so He does for us because Jesus understands how Satan desires to wreak havoc in our testimony and hinder our walk with Him, and so He prays for us. Also, we receive Jesus' instruction today in how we are to conduct ourselves in His Kingdom, as being humble servants than overbearing tyrants! This and so much more today with Pastor J in Luke chapter 22!
Today in Luke 22:14-23 we cover what we commonly refer to as the last supper or the Lord's supper. The reality of this Passover meal Jesus would celebrate with His disciples is a once-a-year feast of God recognized in Leviticus 23 that commemorates the deliverance of God's children from Egypt. During this particular Seder meal though Jesus changed everything! Under the Old Covenant a lamb would be given every year, per family, and the blood of the animal would be remembered in its covering the family from death! Jesus would forever change this by revealing Himself to be the Lamb of God, under a new and living covenant, which would be slain for us and whose blood would cover us forever, never to have to repeat every year like the Old Covenant, for the Son of God is the perfect "Once for All" offering for sin!!! This and so much more today with Pastor J.
Was it death simply skipping past the door which had the blood applied to its sides and upper post, or was it God guarding the door so death couldn't come in! As we study the point, and purpose of the Seder meal Jesus celebrated with His disciples in the upper room the evening (and morning!) before His crucifixion in Luke chapter 22. This is such an exciting place in Scripture! Be sure to tune in to catch the power, beauty, and reality of the events of our Savior's death, burial, and resurrection!
Today begins in Revelation chapter 1 verse 3 as we remember the importance of why we are to study the book of Revelation, as well as the rest of the Bible. Also, we get an opportunity to meet Jesus whom we shall see as the price which was paid for our sin! This won't be the same Jesus as seen in the pictures hanging on the wall. To be introduced to this powerful Jesus tune in and hang out with Pastor J today (Revelation Friday)!
In today's teachings Jesus gives us a rather difinitive warning to remain vigilant for the approaching times for they shall come upon us in a moment we were not expecting, and if we aren't prayed up and ready... Just saying! This and more today with Pastor J!!!
An amazing warning which is given by Jesus concerning the struggles Jerusalem, and the Jews are going to have to face only approximately 40 years into their future from this conversation revealed in Luke 21:20-28! As we carry on the conversation from where we were at yesterday, today we are looking at the certain destruction of Jerusalem by the Roman armies in 70 AD, a time known as "the times of the Gentiles." Also, contained in this time of "vengeance" spoken of in verse 22 there shall be great natural disasters and times of human wickedness which will be embolden and driven by the Antichrist during the reign of his kingdom alongside the False Prophet which will cause friends and family to betray those who have begun to follow the Messiah. This period of time will be horrible for anyone to have to go through and endure, but their trust, as well as ours, being in the Lord will give them the strength to endure to the end because their redemption is drawing nearer and nearer every day!!! This and much more today with Pastor J!!!
Are we ready for the things that are coming? Today, Jesus is going to provide some future instructions for how to survive the future events which will take place. Rather being surrendered by your family and friends to the authorities because of your faith, or having to deal with multitudes of natural disasters and diseases, this world is going to be facing some very challenging times ahead. Are you prepared in, and through Jesus to face those times?
Today we see several ways Jesus drives the religious community in Jerusalem crazy! As He challenges the questions of the imposter disciples He also teaches His own disciples how "not to be" an imposter disciple!!! Also, we shall tie Matthew chapter 24 together with Luke chapter 21 as we begin to talk about those things coming down the line in the future! This and more today with Pastor J.
Welcome to Revelation Friday and the beginning of our journey through the book of Revelation as we are introduced to the Father, the Son, and John here in the first chapter. Today is an overview of those things we briefly touched on last Friday from verses 1 through 7. May God bless you as you read this book, listen to the explanations given through this servant, and keep these things in your heart so you may be the prepared servant yourself going out and about sharing with others to assist them in fleeing from this wrath that is surely coming (and I personally believe is coming rather quickly!).
Today we grow in understanding the power and purpose of human rhetoric as this individual, seeking to snare Jesus in a fault, would question His position concerning resurrection. 2 problems this fellow meets right away is the very same Jesus who already proclaimed to be the resurrection and the life, and the 2nd thing this fellow was not prepared for was the concept of God as the God of the living and not the God of the dead! Welcome to the Sadducces and the way they think and argue, but it isn't going to help them this time for Jesus shall set them straight on the matter of resurrection!
Today we begin Luke 20:1-8 and discuss one of my absolute favorite places in Scripture! I love the conversation held between Jesus and the chief priests. Also, I enjoy the logic they produce in coming up with their "Non-Answer" answer strategy which leaves Jesus free to continue His teachings and grind them into powder as He revealed that if they would have fallen upon Him in their brokenness they could have received healing, but due to their rejection of this Cornerstone His word fell upon them and dashed them to pieces! This and much, much more today with Pastor J!!!
Today in Luke 19:28-48 we shall see Jesus weeping over that beautiful city Jerusalem, for had they known the blessing of peace that had come to them they wouldn't be in the turmoil of Roman rule they were under! We then shall see Jesus' reaction to His Father's house and the way in which man had turned the house of God into a place of merchandise and wickedness which will finally get Jesus in enough trouble from teaching in the Temple daily that both the Pharisees and Sadducees would want Him dead, looking for a way to betray Him and destroy Him! This and more today with Pastor J!!!
Today we get to meet Little Zacchaeus and enjoy the interaction between him and Jesus. Also, we receive the parable of the "Ten Minas" as we saw folks grumbling over Jesus' connection to Zacchaeus. This and much more today with Pastor J!
Today we finalize Luke chapter 18 as we take another look at what Jesus said concerning the willingness to leave all things behind only to receive untold blessing from our Lord! Also we receive sight from a blind man and so much more today with Pastor J.
Today we observe the conversation between the rich Ruler and Jesus found in Luke 18:18-30. We shall discover the true definition of Good and we shall see how the nature of pride can keep a person comfortable and safe up until the moment it is challenged by God! Also, we get to see the choice we must make between what we consider to be most important in, and to our lives in comparison to our service to our King! Much to be considered today through the lens of God's Word!
